Questions in EvDRE in BPC

Dear Experts!
I am new to BPC.
Can any body help me in creating multiple EvDRE Grids. And i have amounts of year 2007 & Year 2008.
How can i calculate Variance.
And how can i connect multiple EvDRE grids one with another EvDRE grids.
And how can i place Buttons and how can i assign task to these buttons.
Please help in Customize EVDRE Grids.

Hi,
You can check the standard template for variance and based on that you can create your own EVDRE reports/schedules.
Create 1X1 EVDRE report/schedule. Assign ACCOUNT to Rows and CATEGORY to Columns. Restrict Category and Account to SELF for expansion. Add a new column and use Time offset EV function to refer a different year. Now create another column and name it as variance. Use normal excel to calculate the difference and save the template.
Placing buttons are same as Excel ones. Use FORMS menu in standard excel and assign macros to that Button by right clicking to it.

Questions on Installing SAP BPC NW 7 SP2

Hi Friends,
My company is Installing SAP BPC NW 7 SP2 and I am heading the project starting from 1st June. I have downloaded the Installation guide and still have few questions
1) On which client we deploy BPC server component, I mean on 000 or any other.
2) Initially we are doing on Sandbox, so we are using only one system for both ABAP and NET servers and we are using 64bit machine. How do I run 1.1 Net framework on it, I have read installation guide it says configure to WOW6432 but dont know how to do it
3) When we download the ABAP server component what format will it be .SAR or .CAR or any other

Hello Bobby,
1. You will install the BPC server component with SAINT, which has to be executed in client 000, but BPC will actually run in the client you designate for BW.

3. The ABAP server component will be a SAR file.

BPC 7.0 (MS) Front-End install quesiton (languages)

Hi everyone,
We are delivering our BPC reports and input schedules in english but some of our non-english speaking locations are asking if they can install the BPC front-end on their computers in another language.
Today the financial planning system is all english, so that there is no problem with having it all in one.
Does anyone know, can english front-end be installed on a non-english client computer? Or do I need to install BPC front-end in the same language that the client computer is set to?
Also, another assumption I wanted to ask about is this, Can I assume that only the "Windows" constructs of BPC are changed to a different language when installed in another language? For example, is it true then that the BPC links and drop down menus etc. would be in another language but the reports & input schedules would exist in whichever language they were developed in?

Hi Kevin,
It is possible to install BPC in english on a non-english computer. But to be honest, there are some known problems.
From my experience, you can install BPC in any language, but you should be aware of maintaining correct Regional Settings on the client machine, such as decimal separator, etc...
To answer the second question, having a French BPC client installed will display every menus and links from Action Pane in French. Having also Excel in French installed will display native Excel function in French in your report and not in English (SOMME(....) instead of SUM(...) for example). However, all BPC functions, such as EVDRE, or others, won't be changed.

Dear Expert,
I'm a newbie on SAP BPC 7.5 NW and had a knowledge of SAP BPC 7M before. I found several articles and information about BPC 7.0 NW and never ever touch in BPC NW system, I would like to make sure and maybe more tips from experts. My questions are:
1. BPC 7M have a dimension in excel format for an user enter members, BPC 7.5NW have same format with BPC 7M ? If not, could I know how an user enter members please ?
2. I read some articles BPC 7NW for load data for reports, the first step we must to do that create BPC cube which is data from BW cube. Is it correct or maybe BPC 7.5NW have new features ?
3. Regarding point no 2, Is it correct that data from SAP ECC must be in BW cube first and then create BPC cube for SAP BPC ?

Hi,
In the NW version also, the members are maintained in the same way in the MS platform.
You can load transaction data from a flat file or from a BI cube or from a file in the application server.
The NW and the MS platforms are very similar with a very few differences.

Evdre using EVCOM function

I am working on an EVDRE on BPC 7.5 , I would like to know how can i use the EVCOM function.i am running a report in Finance application to see the record i have added using Finance Input schedule. For reference i have given my comments and below are the parameters of my EVDRE.

SAP BPC PERFORMANCE AND DESIGN SUBJECT

Hello experts, i ahve an issue about the design of an application in SAP BUSINESSOBJECTS bpc7 for nw7, since there are three applications those have tobe within a same appset,and they use almost the same dimensions, there are two options:
1.-to unify the 3 applications separately in a same appset, which implies 3 cubes in bi7 backend, and they will ask data from each other
2.-to unify the 3 applications in a same appset, and within the same application, which implies one cube in bi7 backend, and all the information will be inside this cube
Which implications has each of this options in performance, anda complexity of implementation, which would be better?

VBA problem with SAP BPC report

Hello
I have an EVDRE() SAP BPC report where one of the member id selection is derived using a VBA script. The problem I'm having is when I click on expand and refresh icon, the member id changes to #Value and the expansion and refresh fails as #Value is not a member id.
I would really appreciate any help on understanding why on expansion my VBA selected member id is replaced with #Value and how I can fix this if that is possible.

Thank you for your help with this problem which is now resolved.
Just to clarify we are on SAP BPC version 5.1
How it was resolved....
We had to use BEFORE_EXPAND as advised and also fix the calculation reference and finally also use AFTER_REFRESH.
We used VBA code to remember the dropdown lists option
and
copy the calculated member id into the pagekey dimension cell.
The AFTER_REFRESH restored the dropdown list option selected.
Not sure if the code is helpful but this is what we used....

SAP - BPC (balance carryforward)

Hi all,
I have a question about SAP u2013 BPC.
How are the balance carryforward executed and is the document inversion automatic as in SEM-BCS?
The question is, when I enter in SAP u2013 BPC at 001.2009 will I have the balance carryforward from 2008 automatically? Or do I have to do something extra?
And is the document inversion automatic?

Installing BPC on a different domain apart from BI

Dear experts,
Currently I have BPC working with BI on the same domain. And I know there're some services triggered by domain accounts which across BPC and BI.
However, our client need BI & ERPs to be isolated in a domain and web servers (including BPC) serves in another domain which contains all users.
Question: Can I install BPC on a different domain apart from BI? If so, what port do I need for BPC to connect to BI? How do I deal with the services authentication between BPC and BI?

Hierarchies in BPC

Hey,
i have a question about Hierarchies in BPC.
How deep can these hierachies be? Is there a limitation? Because i get failure while importing data with my hierachie wich look like this:

If i change the VV parent to Invest everything is fine .. no errors

Technical Architecture as for BPC 7.5 NW

Hi Experts,
I am begginer of SAP BPC 7.5 NW, actaully have lots of experience on MS version, but do not know exactly the configuration of BPC 7.5 NW.
In MS version, MS OLAP is the basis of BPC MS which mean you need to install OLAP with SQL in DB layer first before installing SAP BPC MS. Therefore there are text direction in the installation guide for MS SQL and OLAP.
But I could not find any BI/BW installation in the installation guide of SAP BPC 7.5 NW, and I saw several articles that RFC is the bridge of BI. Does it BPC contains BI/BW (Maybe ApShell is cube sets and can be installed without BI/BW seperate installation)?

Hope you already completed your task but still i want to answer your question..
In BPC installation guide they not mention steps for BI installation however if you dont have installed BI then you need to install BI. Please refer Installation Guide at https://service.sap.com/installnw70..
Once you installed BI system then you need to apply software component CPM Business Planning and Consolidation (CPMBPC) in your BI system and refer section Configuring the ABAP Server Component from installatin guide of BPC NW.

=> No BPC does not contain any cubes. Without BI installation you can use SAP BPC NW version.

Excel BPC - Totals & Subtotals

Hi
I have an EvDRE ( Excel BPC 7.5 ) and would like to add a Total to the rows, I can't use the parent as I have a mix of Product Lines.
I've tried EvSUM in the after range of the Rows, and EvSUB in the Sorting range, but neither appears to work.
Is there an easy way to add a Total to the end of the rows ?

Hi,
The use of EVSUM keyword is correct, but you should reference it in the right section.
In the AfterRange of your rows expansion, you should use the EVRNG function and refer to (for example) A1:B1 range.
And in A1 you write "Total" and in B1 you write "EVSUM".
This should work in any case.

Activate the EVDRE Builder after developing a Input Schedule

Hello Everyone,
Heading 2: I had a quick question about EVDRE.
Say U open a Builder using the EVDRE and select an Account in the Row and the Time in the column expansion.
After going thru some modification and formatting you realise that you need to also add the sort range and the Number of expansions for the Row and the column has to be increased to 3X 2 from 1X1.
Is there a way to open the builder again on the same sheet that we are developing rather than manually adding the expansions using the traditional copy paste method.

As per my understanding you wanted the ROW and COL., expansions to be added in the template without going
outside, I mean going to EVDRE builder is it correct? If so you can copy the Exapansion 2 and paste adjusent to it,
but make Expansion 3 and change the Dimension as per your requirement similarly for Expansion 4 and set the
memberset as per your requirement and click Expand All and Refresh it. Then it will work.

We are beginners with this product and we would like to plan some project using the BPC.
One question arise if using BPC it is possible to distribute a plan value using some formulation?
I mean we have an amount to distribute in 60 months ..the first 30 months have a lineal formula the rest 30 months are using a constant value.
How could we do that using Microsoft BPC?

Yes BPC has that functionality. It is called 'Allocation' using script logic.

Even though it is for the version 5.X but will work in 7 and 7.5

Excel encountered an error and need to close

Hello
We suddenly have Excel crashing with one single report among others saying 'Excel encountered an error and needs to close'.
The report run last week and we didn't change it meanwhile, nor did we change the Excel version.
Version: SAP BPC 5.1 on SQL 2005 running with Excel 2003
What we already tried:
- full process of all dimensions
- reinstall of office client
- open/save the report with another excel version (2002) outside BPC
Does anybody know this behaviour and does anybody have an idea to workaround it?
For me honestly a reinstall of Excel or to rebuild the whole report would put in question the quality of BPC in general.

You could probably try re-house the report into a new excel workbook.
Literally copy across the sheet contents and see if that fixes it.
This technique works sometimes where excel reports/templates can get corrupted...
