Questions on async and sync's unit tests
Hi All
I write a API project and that have sync and async method.
Then I also write a unit tests for them.
What I want to ask is how to write them is better ?
public abstract class ApiProxyBase
protected async Task<T>
GetDataAsync<T>(IRestRequest restRequest, bool ignoreSslCertificateValidation
= true) where T
: ApiResponse, new()
protected T
GetData<T>(IRestRequest restRequest, bool ignoreSslCertificateValidation
= true where T
: ApiResponse, new();
public class GameServerApiProxy : ApiProxyBase, IGameServerApiProxy
async Task<GetGameRedirectResponse>
GetGameRedirectAsync(GetGameRedirectRequest request) ;
public GetGameRedirectResponse GetGameRedirect(GetGameRedirectRequest request)
public class GameServerApiProxyTest : TestsBase
[Test]
public async void Can_Get_Game_RedirectUrl_Async()
await LogIn();
var response
= await _gameServerApiProxy.GetGameRedirectAsync(new GetGameRedirectRequest());
response.Url.Should().NotBeNull();
LogOut();
[Test]
public void Can_Get_Game_RedirectUrl()
LogInSync();
var response
= _gameServerApiProxy.GetGameRedirect(new GetGameRedirectRequest());
response.Url.Should().NotBeNull();
LogOut();
I have an
article on asynchronous unit testing. I'd say your async unit test method should be async Task and not async void. Other than that, it looks good. In particular, since your interface has both synchronous and asynchronous APIs, you should have tests for
both of them.

Doc on Async and Sync using BPM
Hi all
Can anyone send some docs explaining the steps involved in bridging async and sync interface using BPM. The source adapter is JDBC and target is proxy. I've already checked one blog by krishna moorthy (File-File using BPM) and based on that i tried but coudnt get the expected result for my scenario.
ThkxHi PS,
in your Integration Repository go to:
Software Component: SAP BASIS
Namespace: http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns
Process: BpmPatternSyncAsyncBridge
This is a very good example!

Can you explain steps in the Async and Sync scenarios JDBC to RFC.
Hi,
Can you explain some basic steps in the Async and Sync scenarios for sending data from JDBC to RFC.
Like,
The data is picked up from the database table through JDBC adapter.
It is passed on to SAP by calling the RFC. RFC gets executed
successfully. The status is returned by the RFC. The status needs to be
updated back into the SQL database table.
Is this a sync case or async case.
What si the diffrences in the sync and async scenarios in the above JDBC to RFC scenarios.
Sooryahi check the below link

JDBC Synchronous call using BPM
Data Types -
1) File Input
2) JDBC Req
3) JDBC Response
4) File Response of similar type of JDBC Response.. ( This you can avoid also..let it be for first time)
Message Types
4 for each data type
Message Interfaces
1) Async, Outbound, Interface, to receieve the file
2) Async, Inbound , Interface to send the file from XI
3) Async, Absract , Interface of type File message type to recieve the message in the BPM
4) Sync, Abstract Interface with Req message type as File Request, and Response Message type as a file Response
5) Sync , Inbound interface for JDBC with Input message type as a JDBC Request and Output Message type as a JDBC Response
Message Mapping:
1)Mapping between File Req to the JDBC req
2) JDBC Response to File Response
Interface mapping:
1) Sender Interface as a Sync,Abstract Interface created for the file type and target interface as Synchrnous JDBC interface.
Use corresponding mapping for Req and Resp..

Question Concerning Erase and Sync and Itunes backups
Earlier this year my Computers Harddrive exploded without me making a backup. overtime I have moved all my new data to a new Itunes library and now after just about everything has been moved My Itunes is telling me that for my 5 devices, That I need to do an Erase and Sync. If I were to first backup my devices in Itunes would I be able to recover everything after the Erase and Sync ( Notes, Contacts, Remiders,ect.) Also a side question, If I restore my phone from a backup, are the data in the Apps Lost
Sorry For Poor Grammar did this in a hurryIf the songs are still on your computer then you'll have to add them back into iTunes and rebuild your library. Once you've done that you can reload your iPod. Pressing "Erase and Sync" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in this iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an iTunes with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list, iTunes itself must have been empty at that point as erase and sync erases the iPod not iTunes. If you lost your songs entirely from the computer and the iPod there are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data RecoveryBuegie - Recovering Songs
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back. It may be if you have a lot of purchased tracks which you would have to pay to download again. If they came primarily from your CDs then it's most likely not as you can re-rip them. -
HT1386 Two questions Itunes Movies and Syncing
I have two questions. I had been using a different computer and had several movies saved from those ones you get free with purchasing a DVD/Blue Ray. When I try to look at these movies it tells me it will cost me money to download again? Doesn't Itunes remember the movies I already downloaded to my account???
Second when I try and sync my phone to the computer this being the new computer I look at the aps to sync them and the photo has a different looking setup and all my aps are not in the same location as the ones on my actual phone. I have the 4s phone and carefully tried to place each AP in the correct place on the computer but then the next time I connected and looked to snyc with new items I downloaded to my phone it uplads the new aps fine but the same messed up screen shows up. It tells me I can lose aps on my phone ( i know they are saved on the computer) when I sync but what the ****! This NEVER used to be a problem on my old computer I even set it up so I am not connected with any other computers just this one.AHXtreme42 wrote:
Ok, so I know I'm going to use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but now it says Case Sensitive is better? While I hear not case sensitive is better?
I'm a bit confused, do I need to check what the internal drive is to make this decision?
Yes, although it's almost certainly not case-sensitive.
I read somewhere that Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (not case sensitive) is best for TM.
Usually. Case-sensitive is TM's default, though.
Does it really matter?
It may.
I'm only going to be using this one disk to back up my one drive.
Review the pink box in #5 again.
If your internal HD is case-sensitive, your backups must be the same. There's no choice.
If it's not, and you don't anticipate using any case-sensitive volumes (a few 3rd-party apps require it), then you're probably better off with case-ignorant: +Mac OS Extended (Journaled).+ -
Unit Testing and Oracle Sessions
We have an issue regarding Oracle session and SQL Developer Unit Testing.
Every time we run a Unit Test in SQLDeveloper a new Oracle session is created. When closing that Unit Test, the session, however, is not disconnected.
And the only way to close that "Unit Test" session is to close SQLDeveloper.
This is causing problems with the no. of sessions available to developers.
Any help would be much appreciated.
SubbossThe focus of this forum is report design. The actual testing of reports would be subject to your own internal policies and procedures.

SSDT: Creation of localDB instances from project file - Sql Server Unit testing purposes
I have a SqlServer Database Project in my solution (VS2013 Professional) which has a corresponding test project with some stored procedure unit tests. Currently I am using a LocalDB and as far as I understand a local database instance is created in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft
SQL Server Local DB\Instances\Projects and the specific .mdf file referenced in the SQL Server Object Explorer is in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\SSDT\[ProjectName]. The unit tests run fine on my local machine which I have developed
the project on.
My issue is we have a box which is configured to check out the project file from our version control, build the project using ms build commands and then run the unit tests using VSTest.Console. Usually with C# Test projects we reference the test project
dll and the unit tests run fine. I have referenced the dll for the test project with the stored procedure unit tests in.
With the Stored Procedure unit tests however we get this exception:
Initialization method [project].[spTest].TestInitialize threw exception. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.
After some digging I have realised that the localdb instance seems to be created when the project itself is created in VS not when it is built. Specifically when the localdb is first used and if you look into the appData folder of the test machine there
is no corresponding mdf file for the project.
The question is is there a way to set up a localDB instance on the new machine if all you have the project file? The only purpose of the project on the test machine is to run the unit tests, no other development purposes. VS2013 Professional is installed
on the test machine but a solution only using config file changes or MSBuild/VSTest commands would be preferable.
I realise you could change the connection string to an actual test database and run the unit tests of that but we quite like the localdb approach for the testing. I also realise that you could potentially transfer the mdf file (haven't tested this solution)
as well, though I would prefer if there is a solution to my initial question.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh309441(v=vs.110).aspx
I have been reading up on LocalDB and I assume a automatic LocalDB is created when you create a sql server database project (ie on localdb first use). I have tried adding the database creation to the test project config file but do not really know where
to go from there. The second link does not really specify when the named localdb will be created if you add the config items and I am not even sure if that is an actual solution. Here's my test project config file for reference

Thanks in advance for any response. Sorry if there is any misunderstanding, while I have been using VS to develop from the start, this is the first time I have used a Sql Server Database Project.

Christopher.Yes, you can create a LocalDB instance manually. You use the SqlLocalDb utility, see here:

Test coverage in LabView Unit Test Framework
Hi,
can somebody from NI confirm the following two statements about the Unit Test Framework:
1. The framework does not support "recursive coverage metrics", where the coverage considers sub-VIs that are executed in the VI under test.
2. 100% coverage means something weaker that common "branch coverage". For example, an "if" VI is a branch in the program but it is not considered as a branch by LabView's test coverage metrics.
Thanks,
PeterHello Johannes,
I'm interested in branch coverage of a VI under test.
Imagine a VI A that calls another VI B. If A is tested and LV's unit test framework reports 100% test coverage for A, it is possible that the test cases didn't visit all frames (branches) in B.
Now my question is: is it possible that LV thinks of A as "flattened" so that all code in B is considered as code of A?

Performance test from unit tests
Hi;
I tried to apply the principle TDD at the level of perf test of an J2ee application and this from units tests.
I thus used the tool JUnitPerf but regrettably with this tool I must to modify my unit test for the update of the sequence of a test and it propose nobody management of waiting time between every call of a unit test.
Q : Know a tool more complete, stable and maintained which allows to write of the perf tests from unit test ?
Regards;Hi John,
The testing will depend on the scenario's configured in SAP, which are to be tested. As scenario vary from customer to customer, it is not possible to send a document with screen shot, as these are confidential documents. However, the write-up below should be able to give some clueon the same.
<b>Different Type of Testing are as under</b>:
Unit testing is done in bit and pieces. Like e.g. in SD standard order cycle; we do have 1-create order, then 2-delivery, then 3-transfer order, then 4-PGI and then 5-Invoice. So we will be testing 1,2,3,4 and 5 seperately alone one by one using test cases and test data. We will not be looking and checking/testing any integration between order and delivery; delivery and TO; TO and PGI and then invoice.
Whrereas System testing you will be testing the full cycle with it's integration, and you will be testing using test cases which give a full cyclic test from order to invoice.
Security testing you will be testing different roles and functionalities and will check and signoff.
Performance testing is refered to as how much time / second will take to perform some actions, like e.g. PGI. If BPP defination says 5 seconds for PGI then it should be 5 and not 6 second. Usually it is done using software.
Regression testing is reffered to a test which verfies that some new configuration doesnot adversly impact existing functionality. This will be done on each phase of testing.
User Acceptance Testing: Refers to Customer testing. The UAT will be performed through the execution of predefined business scenarios, which combine various business processes. The user test model is comprised of a sub-set of system integration test cases.

Rajesh Banka

Unit Testing in Report Generation
I am new to SAP-BW. looking as of how can Unit Testing be done in Reports. and any other kind of testing on reports.
any kind of information on report testing, how is it usually done would be real helpful.
thanks in advanceHi Kavi,
As far as i have gathered knowledge in Report Unit Testing.these are the important points
you have four kind of unit testing to be done on the reports.
1.Security : This will include testing the functionality of the security module with regards to validation of user profile and that access to reports is provided based on user group profile. The users can be categorized into the following types and this information can be obtained from Report Technical Design Document.
o View a snapshot of a report generated earlier
o Can execute report
o Edit the report
2.User Experice Testing: basically how the report looks to user, the fonts, the titles, kind of obvios but important stuff.
3. Data Validation Testing: To see if the data we obtain in the reports is same as the data present in the Source R/3 System. This can be done by taking some raw data from source system and cross checking with the reports. This can be done manually, I dont have any idea to automate this process.I am not sure if automation can be done. This is a painful process but, very important step and crutial in unit testing.
4. Navigational Testing: This is basically testing all the drill down function, navigational and Report to Report linkage. This info we can get from the technical design document for the reporting. and corresponding Test Scripts can be prepared from it.
As you can see The template will be consisting of all the above said columns, Entry and Exit Criteria and corresponding people who are going to perform the test.(Onsite/offsite).
For each case a testscript can be prepared and can be used multiple times whenever report has to be tested.
I do have a template.BUt i need to edit it somewat before mailing.Do tell me if u need one...or is this information sufficient.
Hope it Helps

BUG: Debug Unit tests in Selected
I think I've found a bug in JDeveloper.
Using "Debug Unit Tests in Selected" does not all unit tests in the selected projects.
To reproduce:
-select a list of projects,
-right click and select "Debug Unit Tests in Selected".
Results:
-JDev will run all the unit tests in the last project selected but no others.
What it should do:
-JDev should run all unit tests in all selected projects

thanks for getting back to me.
I just went to the controls panel (under Systemsteuerung\Programme\Standardprogramme\Dateizuordnungen festlegen, sorry, German) I can see:
Name: .swf
Description: Shockwave Flash Object
Application: Unknown application
Also, double clicking a swf file prompts me with a dialog saying Windows can't openit since it doesn't know how. -
SQL Developer 3.0 Unit Test
Hi all,
I'm hoping that one of you very knowledgeable individuals may be able to assist me!
I'm an APEX developer, and I'm trying to make use of Hudson (www.hudson-ci.org) to automate my build process. I can successfully check files out of a source control repository and run them on my database, but I'm falling down when I try to use SQL Developer 3.0 from the command line to execute some unit tests.
My test environment is a Windows XP SP3 machine running an 11g DB, APEX 4.1 and SQL Developer 3.0. In SQL Developer, I've set up a connection called APPHOME and currently, my unit test repository is on the same connection. If I open a command prompt and execute:
C:\sqldeveloper\bin>ututil -run -suite -name TEST_PROCEDURE_SUITE -repo APPHOME -db APPHOME -log 1
It works fine. The suite of tests execute OK, I get UT_SUCCESS back and when I look in SQL Developer, the result is there.
However, if in a Hudson project I include an instruction that tries to fire exactly the same command, I get a response of: "Connection not found: APPHOME".
Do I need to do anything special to ensure that ututil will be able to see the connection? The only thing that I can think of is that when I execute ututil from the command line, it does so as the logged in user (me, and I'm the one who has created the connections in SQL Developer) whereas when its fired by Hudson, it is executing as some other user that doesn't have my connections?
Does anybody have any thoughts about this?
Thanks in advance!
NickHi Nick,
I think your diagnosis is correct i.e. the connections are specific to your user. To resolve, you can try logging onto the Hudson server as the user that will run ututil, run up sqldeveloper client and import the connections into that user.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
I am interesting in creating unit tests in sharepoint 2013. Could you give me some information, which tools should I use to make this one? Is there aby good practise for SP?
Regards
Kamilthe short story: haha... yea... don't try.
the long story: Shortly after the 2010 release, Microsoft provided the SharePoint Emulator library (nuget package), which is basically an MS Fakes implementation of *some* of the SP API. I don't think it's been updated for 2013, but you can create the fakes
within Visual Studio). The issue, is that there are a LOT of places where the approach (Fakes, and emulating SP API) is insufficient - for example, adding an event receiver to a list has conditional logic depending on whether the list has content types enabled
or not - this logic is absent in the emulation logic, and makes for a bad experience developing (and relying on) unit tests. Secondarily, much of SharePoint is environment and configuration specific (using the user profile service? is it configured? are the
fields mapped correctly?). Assuming that the fakes even handled such logic correctly (they don't), the code required to ARRANGE the unit test would be obnoxious.

Create Unit Test wizard does not populate parameters
If I right click a standalone function or procedure and select "Create Unit Test", the parameters window is populated and I am able to enter input and expected output values for the test.
However, when I attempt the same with a function that is within a package, the parameters window is blank.
I am using version 3.2.20.09Looks like someone has already reported this bug (and a workaround) in this thread:
