Questions on default print quality and print order

I recently upgraded to CS 5.5, a clean install on a new Mac running 10.7. I've found two issues regarding printing from both Acrobat and InDesign:
In both programs, if I go directly to print (command-P, then hit OK without changing settings), documents will print at my printer's default setting, which is for a high-quality photo on glossy paper. (I haven't figured out yet how to change that default.) I want it to print to my faster standard quality  setting, which is generally also the "last-used" setting. I can of course go into printer settings to fix -- each time I do that, my standard setting is already set in that window -- but I have to make that move every time I print.
Previous versions of both programs (CS3) automatically went into the last-used or standard setting. How can I get that back?
Also, print order hasn't been working as it did in CS3. Documents print first-page-first in CS 5.5, unless I check "Reverse order"; in CS3, docs printed last-page-first automatically, without checking any additional box, making documents easier to collate. Also, on many documents, "Odd pages only" prints the even ones, and vice-versa.
How can I get the automatic reverse order and correct odd/even back in Indesign 5.5 and Acrobat X Pro?

Hi Davis,
Well, if you are able to log on the BPS application (thus, a Web Interface if I'm not mistaken) then it means that some user is logged on the ABAP-side. It is either a "personal" user or a technical (common) user, that is used for anonymous access.
You will certainly be able to track down this user with the SM04 transaction.
You should be able to add a button to the BPS page. One idea would be to call an URL with an ICF service behind that will be able to process the parameters contained in this URL.
It will be this very ICF service that will call the BAPI.

  • Print preview and print doesn't show the correct out put result when i connnected with EPSON LX-300+II

I hava an html webpage with css & print css. The print preview and print doesn't give correct output there is alignment problem when i connected with EPSONLX-300+II. But iam connected with hp laserjet they show the correct output with firefox. Please fix the problem as soon.....

I have same problem as you, but later I know how to deal with it.
    1. change your print default preferences to
print quality into (120x144 dpi, or other which suites you)
mine goes well to 120x144 dpi
    2. Before print enter File->Page setup, set true to option shrink to page width
in order to fit your page into your desired paper
(firefox will resize your content to suit the paper you choose).
If you dont want this you can disable this option.
    3. Still in Page Setup, if checkbox "Print background (color & images)" is unchecked then
white text will be printed black.
Set this checked if you want to print white text as it is color.
I hope it answers your question.

  • Difference between execution mode of Print preview and Print for Output

    Hello,
Can anybody tell the difference between execution mode of print preview and print for an output (For eg. PO output or Invoice)?. I am trying to download some documents linked to Purchase order to desktop. The code is written in the same driver program for printing PO and it is executed after smartform function module is called. It works fine in print preview mode and it fails in print mode. The reason why download fails in print mode is that GUI not available (just found from debugging).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Anil

    HI
try using any other printer and find out if you are getting the correct output. The printer needs to support Multiple Unicode encoding schemes like UTF 8, UTF 16BE, and UTF 16LE, plus special characters and logos, bi-directional text layout, and custom characters..

  • Wrong print preview and printed color from Lightroom 1.3

I am running Vista Ultimate and i just installed the driver for my Canon PIXMA Pro9000.
When i try to print from Lightroom 1.3 the colors are very muted, even when i do print preview the colors are wrong in the print preview screen.
No matter what i do i cant seem to get lightroom to Print Preview AND print with the right colors.
The image on this link http://www.pbase.com/charld/image/94711330
(on the left) is what i see and get when i do a print preview and print and my monitor image is on the right.
If i use Canon DPP the colors are not that bad, its a bit dark but that was easily fixed and i can get it quite close to what i see on the screen. My monitor is not calibrated..The images were all shot in RAW and converted to DNG...Do i need to re-install Lightroom as i don't think print preview has anything to do with the printer i have attached....
    Thanks

I got the solution from another forum:
    http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?t=1613
    1. in the Print module, clicking on the Print Settings button ...
    2. Choose your media type
    3. Under Print Quality choose High
    4. Under Color Intensity choose Manual. In the subsequent dialogue box choose None.
    5. In the Print right hand panel under Color Management choose your print media - PR1 for Photo Paper Pro, SG1 for semi-gloss &c
    6. Rendering intent Perceptual.
    7. Hit Print and OK.
    this resolved my issue!!

  • My printer receives and prints my e mail but not the attachments how do I rectify this?

My printer receives and prints my e mail but not the attachments. How do I rectify this?

    Hi robgpearce,
Your issue could be related to the file type or a setting with the file. In the help section of ePrintCenter.com, it goes into details on how the HP ePrint service does not support printing webpages via email at this time, HP is currently developing dedicated solutions to support webpage printing from mobile devices. Image files (like jpeg, bmp, tiff, etc) need to be at least 100DPI in order to print via ePrint. PGP encryption, digitally signed documents, macro-enabled spreadsheets and password-protected documents are not supported by ePrint at this time and will not print.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

  • Creating Queue, Print Serve, and Printer

We are using Novell Netware 4.x.
We have a HPLJ5 SI printer with a CNET Print Server attached via the LP
cable port then attached to the network.
When creating the print queue, print server, and printer via the Netware
Administrator it appears that nothing is seen on the locally attached
    print server.
I have reviewed the config on the Print Server, all appears correct, but
when I add the queue, server, and printer, the system does not see the
    prin server?
I have been recently introduced to Novell, so please bear with me if the
info to answer is not all here.
    TIA,
    Bill

    We are using IPX/netware.
The print server is configured with:
    1. The print server name
    2. The Netware server name
    3. NDS Tree and Context
I have also created the Queue, Print Server, and Printer in the
organization. The print queue does have the print server and printer in
    the assignmenets area.
I guess I am a little confused. If the print server is attached to the
printer what is the relationship between the print server and the queue?
And what makes this different between that and a print server and queue on
    the server itself?
I guess you can tell I am a little (or maybe even a lot) lost!
    TIA,
    Bill

  • HELP!!!!! 2 questions on placing a file and printing

    Hi,
I'm in serious need of help!! I've designed some wedding stationary for my sister in law. I did all the initial designs on Photoshop, however, the save the date cards require me to print on both sides. I was told that in order to do this successfully, I need to put the work in to indesign. Well, when I did this, the whole thing got screwed up. It went really grainy and pixelated. I managed to correct it the best I can, but the font looks a lot thinnner and lighter than it did in the original photoshop file. Does anyone know why this would be and in addition, know how to fix it?? I'm using Snell Roundhouse if that helps at all!
Secondly, the printing!! How do I set it up to be able to print on both sides? I've looked around but I think I'm being really blind as I cannot find out how anywhere!!
If someone can help me with this ASAP I would truly truly appreciate it!!
    Thanks

Let's start by saying this is probably nonsense, but how you intend to print will make a difference. If you are doing the printing yourself, and you have a printer capable of two-sided printing (pretty unlikley on card stock) then ID can make a two page file that will duplex. If the printing machine can't print two-sided on the chosen paper, it really doesn't matter.
Now, on to more important matters. How did you move your work from Photshop to ID? And how was it saved in Photoshop? ID can import quite a few image formats from Photoshop, but if you have type or other vector content that you want to keep crisp, you need to save the file as a Photoshop PDF for placing in ID. Any other format will result in the Vector content being rasterized and going jaggy. Also, you must Place the art, NOT copy and paste from Photoshop (File > Place...) or all you will get is the screen preview.
If you've placed the art, and it still looks bad on screen, either you've scaled it up or it doesn't have sufficient resoltuion to begin with, or, very likely, you just haven't got your display settings correct. By default ID uses "Typical" display, which gives you a low resolution proxy for the placed art. For a better preview (but still a preview) go to View > Display  Performance and choose High Quality Display.
The broader question here is why all the work was done in Photoshop, and I presume that's because you are more familiar and comfortable working with that application. InDesign has a lot of advantages, though, for this sor of project, not the least of which is the ability to make a mulipage file. In ID you can place many pieces of external art and set the type, and maintain the quality of all the pieces. These days I rarely even build a photocollage in Photoshop, as I find it's much easier to control sizes and postions of the images (previously edited and masked individually in Photoshop, as required) in ID.
How about providing some details about how this is all going to be printed? With more info, we can offer better advice.

  • Monitor sudden change in color/print quality and flicker

I have an HP Pavilion a6112n desktop computer with Windows Vista Home Premium connected by VGA? (blue) cable to a Dell ST2220 monitor.  Everything was fine when all of a sudden my monitor became difficult to read and there's a flicker on the screen, particularly when looking at the desktop or the opening start box.  I can read most of the black print, but other print got very thin and faded.  You can't even see the outline of search boxes, and the address box at the top shows some readable print like "hp.com" but the rest of the address is very very pale gray.  My desktop background photo got washed out and also looks yellowish.
I thought it was my monitor, but I took the monitor to the office today and connected it to my office computer.  Came on fine - no flicker and colors are great.  Now I have no idea what to do next.  Would appreciate any help.  Thanks.  (Not a computer expert!)

    Hi again ncnash,
Thank you for the quick reply!
Since you were not able to restore the resolution to your desktop's display, I recommend trying a different cord, as well as a different monitor to your HP desktop.
If the issue continues, I suggest returning your system back to a restore point when the display was not fuzzy and flickering. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows Vista).
Should the display remain unchanged, I recommend performing a backup and recovery of your desktop's operating system. To do this, please follow this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows Vista), as well as Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows Vista). This should return your system back to factory defaults.
If the issue persists, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Hp p1005 print quality and options in snow leopard

This is a great idea to have built-in drivers in Snow Leopard but I experience problems with my laserjet p1005. Thus I lost options I had in Leopard like the manual recto-verso and the printing quality is not as good as it was in Leopard. Though my system is up to date and I have the most recent version of hp driver installed.
I am a graduate student who need to print a lot of stuff and this forced me to downgrade to Leopard.
Is Apple gonna do something about that?

Probably not. The drivers come from HP, so any changes will have to come from them.

  • Print Quality and Jagged logos

    hi all
I have my logo in a wp doc, it now prints fine. I had a lot of trouble getting it to print well as it always appeared with jagged edges. If I copy and paste it into another doc it prints bad again. Why does this happen?
I've noticed that some documents also print a bit 'washed out' while others print nice and sharp.
So is there an output setting I've missed?
    It's driving me nuts.
    Thanks
    G

There are two issues at work here. First, AppleWorks changes the resolution of any graphic format except PICT to 72 dpi. The best solution to this problem is to save the image as PICT before inserting into AppleWorks. My favorite for this is GraphicConverter, but you can use Preview or Photoshop Elements or any other application that can save as PICT.
For the second issue, this is a problem than became more noticeable with AppleWorks 6.2.9 & has something to do with postscript printing. Go to Preferences > General > Topic: Text & turn Fractional Character Widths on.

  • Problem with Print Preview and Print events

    Hello Experts,
We have developed a program, in which, I m trying to display the % values in the Sub Totals and Grand Total lines, The logic and program functionality is performing very well. The report is displaying the output the way end user is willing to see.
The main problem is, the entire % values are going to a toss when we click the Print Preview or trying to print the report, which is not supposed to go that  way. I have even tried to debug the program where the problem is evolving in the code, but it is not raised from the code.
Please refer to the screen shots. Before clicking the Print Preview and after clicking the print preview.
Do anybody face the same kind of problem ever?
If so please let me know what could be the best possible solution.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Harish,
I have use the below code but not for percentage... I think for percentage you just have to calculate the normal percentage and replace it with a subtotal value.
This is not your complete code it will be better if you mail your complete code so that i can debug and check.

  • Photoshop CS5 Print Printing problem: print count and print to ICC profile

Since Adobe still haven't acknowledge the printing issue with CS5, I start this thread to report my own problems.
    Problem 1:
print copy count is not working. The first print is always one print regardless how many copies you set in the dialog window. The next print will actually print the copies set in the previous print job.
This is a well documented problem, and until today no fix.  I am not too worried about this problem because I can always print one copy each time to get job done, until the day Adobe acknowledge and fix the problem.
    Problem 2:
when I let the Photoshop manage color and print to a custome ICC profile (generated by Spyer3Print), Photoshop RANDOMLY decides to print a light colored magenta cast picture.  It's like Photoshop has used the wrong ICC.  Now every time I print a 13x19, I have to pray.  Because this thing is so random, I can't even reproduce the problem consistantly.
here's the information about my system:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit (not a fresh system) with 8GB RAM.  Printer drivers installed: Canon Pro9000II, Canon MP600, Epson 1400.
I experience problem 2 after I installed CS5 with Epson 1400 printer, but not too frequent.  Later on I installed drivers for Epson R1800, Epson R2400, and I mainly print with R2400.    All the printer drivers, software updates are the lastest available.
I was a software developer. I wrote windows application before. I am pretty sure the problem is with CS5 based on my knowledge.  If I wrote an Windows application that crashs Windows or another party's appliction, I certainly would not blame Microsoft or another party for not writing a bulletproof system. I would try to find a workaround in my own application.  That's just my take. Adobe may have different mind set. They are still pointing finger to MS and Epson.

I don't condone the problems, but a workaround I've recently read about for the copy count problem is to do the following, in order:
    1.  Set the copy count you want.
    2.  Click the Print Settings... button to enter the printer driver setup dialog.
    3.  [OK] out.
    4.  Print
This is reported to get the proper copy count into the print driver and make it "stick".  I just tried it and it seems to work.
Keep in mind you may want to go through this again after printing to get the copy count to default back to 1 for the next print.

  • Print quality of printing internet coupons is bad

I have HP office jet 4620 and when printing coupons from the internet the bar code area iof coupon is uneven and faded in areas, however the color picture of the product is clear.  Also did a printer test page and that is fine. What is the problem?

  • HP Officejet 5510 all in one - stalling of printing carriage and printing problems

I have had this All in One Printer since December 2004. It had been working fine until I replaced a cartridge at a refill store over a year ago. To deal with the problem with HP I felt would be time consuming so I  put up with the problem and if I needed good quality printing, I would take it to Kinkos.
The print carriage is slow to respond and print from my computer and then in the middle of the task the carriage will stop and stall or bang like it wants to move, but is stuck and then, with all the lights flashing, I get a message in the copier window for me to clear the printing jam or carriage jam and then press OK.   I open the door to the carriage and then close it and press OK.  It does not always work the first time to make the carriage stop banging. Eventually it will stop and the paper will release  and then it will continue finishing the task, but a lot of the time what is printed has double printing with jagging to one side of the paper.
This is also affecting receiving any faxes because it involves print carriage.
I have done all the steps for clearing a paper/carriage jam. There is nothing visable to cause a jam.  I have managed to do  the self test after the printer goes through some banging and  then telling me to open the door to clear the jam.    I have done the steps to
clean the cartridges and then again do a self test.   I downloaded the latest driver/updates for the printer, but the problem persists.
The cartridge refill store , not seeing the problem first hand, keeps offering for me to bring back the cartridges if the problem persists and replace them.
Do you think it is the cartridges or the unit?   I just replaced the black cartridge in December 2009 and have not print much knowing
the quality would be poor.  Yesterday I saw a message that I am low on black ink. That does not seem possible.
When I do the self test it is showing white lines through the colored bars and I am missing the pink or red bar. So I know I have to replace the color cartridge.
As far as alignment,  when I did the first of two self tests,                                                     Second Test After the Drive Download
the Vertical Cartridge to Cartridge read    -12                               -24
the Horizontal Cartridge to Cartridge read    -24                                99
the Black Bidirectional Cartridge to Cartridge read    -54                                0
the Color Bidirectional Cartridge to Cartridge read      6                                 6
After doing the steps to automatically clean the cartridges, it printed a report with symbols at the top. They look to be squeezed together and the top portions of the symbols are missing.  The black bar has some white indents along the edges and the blue and yellow bars are spread more apart with some lighter colored lines vertically.
I have Windows XP and the HP Director was not working.  I downloaded the patch and it is working correctly telling me that both cartridges are low, the black more than the tri-color and now a message that the print carriage has stalled.  The help button tells me  to do everything I have already done.
Do you have an answer that I  can manage by myself or would it be better to take it to a computer repair place?
    Thank You , 918nifferf

I have a carriage jam on my HP Officejet 5510 which I cannot correct.. I have tried everything I know to do. There are two black pieces that will not spring down when the cartridges travel across. I th en get a carriage jam message.
    Do these pieces need lubricated?
How can I get t hem to go down when the carriage goes across?
Thanks for any information or help options
