Questions on NWDI server management.

Hi
We implemented NWDI on the same server as that of the portal.
(8GB RAM, 2.61 GHz AMD Opteron proc 285, Win 2003 OS)
A lot of space in <drive>:/usr is being utilised whenever I run the import in NWDI, so from time to time I will have to delete the log files to create space.
is there any place where I can default these log files to fall on a different drive location?
Also I learnt that CBS utilises lot of drive space during its operation and when I check the CBS service in Visual Admin
rootFolder is pointed to ./tem/CBS --> where is this located? I am unable to locate this?

The CBS can also point to C:/temp/CBS
I have enough space in C: drive so can I point the rootFolder to C:/temp/CBS, will this affect the development process that is going on now?
Can this arrangement help improve the performance?

Yes it is possible to create distributed applications for Lync server
Regarding the services technically all the Lync services should be monitored since each of them is responsible of a certain workload. but the main service is the lync front end service that once it is stopped it will affect client sign-in.
regarding monitoring the network it depends on what is the traffic that you want to monitor

Pack 2. I have SQL Server Management Studio (NOT EXPRESS) installed and it is on SP2.
Do I need to also install the express version to do the migration?

Server Manager error 0x80070422 - Roles and features are not accesible

I cannot view Roles and Features in Server Manager on my Server 2008 R2 box. The error is:
Unexpected error refreshing Server Manager: The service cannot be started, either because it is disbaled or because it has no enabled devices assicaited with it (Exception from HResult: 0x80070422)
I have looked at my services - but don't know what service to look for, everything seems to be in order.
After some investigation on the net, I understood that I need to setup the win readiness tool, I did and the output in CheckSur file is as follows

Please try to install Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 directly and check the result. Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 includes all the
previous released Windows Updates and hotfixes.
If it does not work, you will need to copy these files from another working Windows Server 2008 R2 system to replace the corrupt ones.
Otherwise, you will need to perform an In-Place upgrade to repair the system.

How to find a record then edit using sql server management studio

Hello,
A very basic question:
I want to find a record stored in MS SQL Server 2008 express database table then edit the record.
I tried to do it using SQL Server 2008 management studio express because I have been using MS Access database all the time. I have right clicked the table in management studio, clicked the "Edit top 200 records" menu item then when records were
displayed on the result pane, I pressed Ctrl + F key to find a student named Simon for example. Well, nothing happened. I couldn't see any dialog boxes for putting in the search criteria.
I guess I cannot simply use Ctrl+F in SQL Server management studio to find / edit a record.
Can someone please teach me how to find a record specifying a search criteria then edit the record in SQL server management studio?

I have not seen Ctrl+F to be used to look for desired rows in Sql server.
On the result pane after you selected "Edit top 200 records", just right click , select
PANE, SQL, you will get the T-Sql query t,here you need to mention the exact criteria which you are looking for, and then you will get the desired rows and then you can edit.

Questioned status in Fault Management for Cisco Prime 4.2

Hi all,
Need help in Cisco Prime 4.2. My device is stuck in Questioned state in Fault Management. The device though can be pinged from the server. Actually, I can already manage the device and have archived its configuration. Problem is, on Fault Monitoring Device Administration, its on Questioned state even though I already tried to rediscover the device several times.
Do I need to configure something on the server like put in the IP address and hostname of the device in the host file of Windows Server 2008?

Is this happenning for just one particular device or for all of them ?
If for a particular device then Are you using SNMPv2 or SNMPv3 on your device ?
Disable the Windows Firewall and ANTI-Virus on the serevr and Rediscover the device again.

Hello guys,
I have few questions about application server architecture�
I have a task to build a server application which will do the following: Clients (special java clients) will connect to it and send some data for further processing on server side. Chunks of data will be relatively small but they will take a lot of time for processing (it is ok that it will be quite slow).
Also server will run some sort of �database� where all clients� working data will be stored. So, in case a client loses its data he/she is always able to download it from the server.
For me it seems, like server will consist of the following components:
1. �Reception�. This part will be responsible for all client-communication procedures.
2. �Data storage�. This part will simply store all clients� data and provide some API interface for clients through �reception� to manage it (add/get/delete and so on).
3. �Processor�. Some sort of dummy-sophisticated module. It will take some input data from �data storage� when it receives order for this and process it. �Processor� will have two states: �busy� which means �processor� processing some data and �available� which means �processor� ready to process new data.
4. �Manager�. This part will always check �data storage� for new data and �processor� for availability. When �processor� and new data are available �manager� will make an order for �processor� to take new data from �data storage� and process it.
So, my question is the following: Which technology and approaches I should use to realize my plan?
I think that I can make �reception� as a Session Bean, but I don�t know yet, what are the best for the rest, for example �manager� and �processor�. I was thinking about writing my own application server (and I can do it), but I would like to learn j2ee technologies, so I think it is a perfect chance for me (I read a lot about j2ee before I wrote this post, but all examples have only �account�-�bill�-�money transfer� I think it is quite far away from reality or I am doing something wrong ;-)!
p.s. I am thinking about using JBoss as an Application Server. I tested it and wrote some tests. They work and run fast enough, so I like it. Moreover it has module architecture.
Please, give me some advises and tips!

No Icon, implies you either didn't install a dedicated client or are expecting to use the thin client or didn't read the manual. If your scenario matches the first two then my instructions are correct...
I'm guessing that you have completed the installation and possibly the configuration for Windows. Not sure if you configured a database, web server, or what your expecting to achieve. Start by reading Siebel Bookshelf - Installation Guide for Microsoft Windows, the whole guide, especially chapters 9 and 10. Otherwise we will end up re-documenting bookshelf in this forum.

Cannot connect via c# but can via server management studio

When I try to connect to my sql server 2005, from a asp.net web application (asp.net development server) using...

... as the connection string, i get:
Cannot open database "Prism_Project_db" requested by the login. The login failed.
Login failed for user 'R-LAPTOP\Ryan Holdren'.Yet I can connect using sql server management studio, no problem:
Server Type: Database Engine
Server: R-Laptop
Authentication: Windows Authentication
which connects as "R-LAPTOP\Ryan Holdren".
I do not understand how the login could work for one application and not for another. Can anyone help me get this working?

Issues With SQL Server Manager

Hi, sorry new to Azure, and pretty new to SSMS...I apologize if the question has a simple answer, I just can't find the answer anywhere.
I can connect to the Azure database through SSMS with no problems but it will not let me edit existing tables not create new tables except using scripts. The table design mode options are all grayed out. I'm not sure if this is an authority issue on the
DB or something with my version of SSMS:

In addition to the reply above, you can also try to use web- based Management Portal for SQL Database which support designing and editing tables with GUI.
To launch the SQL Database Management Portal, you should be logged into the Windows Azure Management Portal, select the database workspace and then select the SQL Azure server you would like to manage. Click the "Manage" button in the

Tivoli server manager is going to be changed for backp and restore

I have oracle database 10g 10.2.0.3 installed on AIX 5.3 server. I am taking bakup and restore in TAPE using RMAN. I have IBM Tivoli Server Manager as a media Management Software. All resources are locatesd at inhouse right now. the only thing that gonna be change is IBM tivoli server manager and TAPE. we will have NEW Tivoli server manager and TAP at different location. Now I have backup and restore script available and TSM client installed on database server.
I have reviewed backup and restore script but I don't know what kind of change I have to do.
So the main question is
Due to Tivoli server and Tape gonna be change
what kind of changes I have to do ?
where should I implement the change?
where can I find the useful information regarding configuration parameter for this kind of setup?

I don't know what version of TSM you are using, but you can check Backing Up Oracle Using Tivoli Storage Management and also check Configuring RMAN to Make Backups to a Media Manager.

Question on installing Access Manager 2005Q4

Hello everyone,
I have a question on installing access manager. It looks like access manager has to be installed into a web server running as root. The install program even warns you and gives you the option to fix it. After install does access manager still have to run as root, or can the web servers owner and group be changed back to webserved:webserved.
It would be nice not to have to run the web server as root just to have access manager working.
Also if it is possible to change the owner, could somebody point me to some directions to make sure I do it correctly.

Is it possible to have the ldap servers running on port 389 and the web server running on port 80.One way you can do this (if you are on Solaris 10) is to use RBAC with a user in the net_privaddr role. See http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/features/articles/least_privilege.html for more information.
If a person already has an installed version as root, can it be changed to a non root user, or would it be just to much of a nightmare to do.That's what the doc describes how to do. Should not be a big problem but you might have to make a few adjustments depending on how far you've already gone with the install and config.
Does the ldap server and web server having to be running as the same user?No, you can use separate users.
