Questions on SAP BI and SharePoint integration

Hi all,
I was looking into how we can integrate SAP BI with our SharePoint server.
Does anyone has got exposure to this type of integration? Is there anyway that we can achieve this integration using SAP Business Objects or Performance Points?
Please advise.
Thanks
Kukku

Hi all,
We would like to get some thoughts on SharePoint integration with SAP BI.Could you please help us in solving the following questions:
1. Which one is better? SharePoint integration through PerformancePoint Server 2007 or SAP Business Objects(SAP BO XI integration kit)?
2. What are the starting point(system requirements)  to develop a prototype on both the methods?
I was able to find some info on both PPS and SAP Business Objects from the above link and also from sdn documents(those were really helpful, thanks!) but none of them provide some detailed insight into which one to opt for or how you can goahead. If someone has got more info on this please let us know.
Thanks
Kukku

  • Brief discussion on SAP XI and its' Integration with SAP MDM.

    Hi,
I have never worked on SAP XI.
I am discussing it on brief, please give your valuable replies.
SAP XI consists of System Landascape Directory(SLD).
SLD Consists of Business System and Techinical System.
Technical System contains all information about the software
component. The Business System consists of Inbound and Outbound Business
System which are used as logical names for data transfer.
There is communication Channel for Receiver and Sender Business System and n agreement
is signed between Sender and Receiver.
Outbound Interface defined for Business System Outbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System,
Inbound Interface defined for Business System Inbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System.
In SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Directory, we have defined the Integration Scenarios,
Actions, Interface Objects, Mapping Objects, Adapters Objects.
Mapping Object defines the Structure and Value Mapping.
Adapter Objects defines the Adapter program which implements RFC Adapter, FTP Adapter logic.
FTP Adapter is used for XI-MDM Communication.
RFC Adapter is used for XI-ECC Communication.
Integration Repository: Both Outbound and Inbound Interfaces are Mapped with Value mapping and
    Structure Mapping inside Integration Repository.
The File Adapter takes the File from the Outbound port of MDM System
and sends it as IDOC to Receiver Business System.
Value Mapping must be done between Sender and Receiver interfaces.
Value Mapping is done by XSLT or Java based program.
SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Server at runtime:
Message Split, Interface Determination, Receiver Identifaction, Mapping, Techincal Routing
and Call Adapter Proccess are done.
In SAP XI 3.0 and MDM 5.5:
Step 1: Create busines system as service.
Step 2: Create communication channel for each business service. If the system can communicate
through different channels, then create all possible channel types if necessary.
Step 3: Create receiver agreement between the systems.
    Step 4: Interface determination:
    - Here you see for the first time the software component mentioned;
there are some special requirements regarding this software component in relation to the customizing ID mapping.
    - To modify this software component, the customer needs to copy the SAP standard delivered software component
into its own namespace. The customer is able to modify to create archives
    for the customized ID mapping.
    Receiver determination.
Configure an FTP Server on the MDS.
Create a send folder for outbound messages using outbound port(s) for
    remote systems(s).
Create receive folder inbound messages using inbound port(s) for remote systems.
This ia all about concept of SAP XI Infractsture and its' Integration with SAP MDM 5.5.
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

    Hi Kaushik,
You must be aware of File types that MDM Import Manager can Import i.e. we have XML, Excel etc. Now there are two transactions to extract data from R3
    1. MDMGX -
             - For lookup table extraction
             - Output in XML format which MDM can import without using XI.
              - FTP can be configured to put the file in the desired folder which will be then picked by Import Server.
    2. MDM_CLNT_EXTR -
              - For Main table records.
              - Output is in Idoc format which MDM doesn't understand hence we need XI in between which converts Idoc file received from R3 into XML which can then be imported using Import Manager or Import Server. For this we need to implement XI Scenario that consists of Source System, Receiver System, Type of Data etc.
    Just a basic understanding...

  • BO XI3.1 and Sharepoint Integration

    Hello,
I am looking for some advice regarding sharepoint integration.
    Scenario:
    1. BO Server with XI3.1/SP2
    2. Seperate Sharepoint Server 2007 - sharepoint site.
We want to access BO reports through the sharepoint site.
I have been reading the installation guides /pre-requisites and have got a general idea , however there are possible downloads both under BO Enterprise folder ( portal integration) as well as a seperate Integration kit.
Would appreciate any advice for integration for this particular scenario.

    Hi,
Use IOMS or integration Option for Microsoft SharePoint software.
It supports on XI3.1 and Sharepoint 2007 32 bit.

  • SnS and Sharepoint integration

    Hi All,
I would like to learn which features (such as Live Events Calendar, Social Video, Employee Generated Content etc.) we can support for SnS-Sharepoint integration. I know SnS can integrate to Share point through APIs. However I can not find any detailed integration document. We are competing with a different vendor. It is important to highlight the capabilities of SnS integration.
    Best Regards,
    Cigdem

Atrion Networking has a product that fully integrates SNS with SharePoint. I heard about them from Cisco and recently had a demo of it through Webex.

  • ADFS and SharePoint Integration: How to use ADFS Roles?

    Hello,
I've successfully integrated SharePoint with ADFS2 and users can login by ADFS. One of the claims mapping in ADFS and SharePoint is SAM-Account-Name->Windows account name.
Is there any guideline how to grant a permission to an specific role? For example I want to grand read access to an specific list to a specific AD group called "ListReaders"
A link to an online article explains how to use ADFS Roles in SharePoint would be a great help.
    Thank you,

    Hi Allan,
According to your description, my understanding is that grant permission to ADFS roles.
Please refer to “A Fellows” last suggestion to grant permission to ADFS roles in the link below:

  • DITA and SharePoint Integration--FM11 (TCS4)

We're moving to DITA and exploring our options for tools. We're currently considering TCS4; we'd use FM for authoring and publishing and RH for additional publishing outputs. We're also interested in using a DITA CMS, but since we're already a SharePoint 2010 site, we're wondering if we can leverage the new SharePoint integration instead. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

We're trying to use FM10 and SharePoint with DITA.  It looks like it can be done, but only with a lot of customization. And I mean a LOT.
The main sticking point (it seems to me after a few months of on-and-off work in the area) is that SharePoint lacks the concept of interdependent files. In the SP world, every file is assumed to be self-contained. When you work on a file, you're not concerned with how it relates to other files in the repository.
With DITA, on the other hand, relationship is everything. If you update a file or rename it or remove it, you care very much about the effect on other files that might be referencing it.  So you need to add something that SharePoint does not have, namely, a file relationships database of some kind.  And then you have to provide user controls for it.
FrameMaker has dependencies. For example, when you open a topic or an unstructured chapter, you need access to any referenced images. To reconcile this with SharePoint's lack of dependency awareness, Adobe's CMS Connector sets up a SharePoint field called "FMDependency" that lists all the files that are referenced by a file. This helps Frame keep track of dependencies, but compared to a database, it's a clumsy solution. In fairness, it's the best Adobe can do without seriously invading your SharePoint installation.
The trouble I'm facing now is that, if I do decide to make SharePoint relationship-aware for the sake of our DITA implementation, and I want to continue including FrameMaker in our selection of DITA editors, I have to work with or around Adobe's less than optimal solution.
Another issue concerns metadata. Say you want to be able to select topics by title or shortdesc. First you have to get the metadata into the SharePoint list. (We've set up some code that runs at checkin to do this.) But then you want to use it -- and there's no provision for that in the CMS Connector. So now you have to use a browser to find your files, and then open the Connector and hunt them down from the full list in order to check them out and work on them. The same goes for audience or product metadata.
We're pressing on because the company is just rolling out SharePoint, and is hell-bent on using it for everything. If it's an option for you, I recommend finding a real DITA CMS.

  • SQL database and SharePoint integration

I am looking for material on how to work with sql databases and sharepoint.
Is it possible to use an SQL database, with foreign key relations, in a sharepoint list?
What I am looking to is as follows:
Have 2 tables in SQL Server, with a reference from one, to another.
Have the ability to input and edit both tables from a sharepoint online external list.
    SQL Table 1:
    Id code
    name
    SQL Table 2:
    Arrival Date
    lot #
    idCode
idCode references Table 1 id Code
    Sharepoint List A
    List of Table 1
    Sharepoint List B
List of table 2, with the ability to add its to it, that will reference table 1.
I can not find any material or other ares focusing on this subject. You assistance would be appreciated.
    Brandon

What you're after is an External List. There are some details (and much of the configuration is on links in this page) here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj683119(v=office.15).aspx

  • Question on UCM and sharepoint integration?

Can the images selected in wysiwyg editor come from external sources like sharepoint system?
Can the WCM content be pushed to sharepoint server on publish? Can webparts be used for this? What is the format of content that will be sent to sharepoint. I mean, can sharepoint understyand and create the imported content in it's system? Please help.
    Regard,
    Pratap

Can the images selected in wysiwyg editor come from external sources like sharepoint system?Yes and no. If you want to use UCM's features (like selecting the correct rendition, using UCM 's security model, etc.) you will have to check in the item to UCM. However, you can also use just a link to an external resource (with no guarantee that it will be available, though). I'm not sure how much this approach integrates with wysiwyg.
Can the WCM content be pushed to sharepoint server on publish? Can webparts be used for this? What is the format of content that will be sent to sharepoint. I mean, can sharepoint understyand and create the imported content in it's system? Please help.In general, you can publish content from UCM almost anywhere - for instance, you can publish documents to create a static website, which is not run by UCM at all. However, you will most likely want to have not only the content itself, but also metadata.
The cardinal question is: why do you want to have two repositories? If MSSO is a must, you could use it as front-end only and UCM would be back-end storing all the documents. This would resolve both problems in one go. And moreover, this is actually quite a common scenario, so there is an experience to support your implementation.

  • SAP PI and Ariba integration (Master Data)

    Hi All,
I have to integrate SAP with Ariba for master data interfaces.
We have certain transaction data scenarios where we are using webservice communication with Ariba, but for master data interfaces what should be the approach?
How we can use Ariba tool kit?
How we do batch processing with Ariba Tool kit.
    Please advice.

  • SSRS and SharePoint Integration Authentication Issue

We recently turned on SSRS for our SharePoint 2010 Test Environment.  We are using an account that has rights to SharePoint as a site collection administrator, the feature is enabled on the site collection and site level, it has access to the SQL instance
to pull the reports.  The report config file specifies NTLM authentication.  It acts as if it will configure and goes through the SP Central Administration steps successfully.  When I try to deploy a report, I receive the following error:
Exception encountered for SOAP method GetSystemProperties: System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.     at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2010.RSConnection2010.SetConnectionProtocol()
    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2010.RSConnection2010.SoapMethodWrapper`1.ExecuteMethod(Boolean setConnectionProtocol) 1afe9dfd-9846-4194-bddf-fcb0ded634be

If I turn on trusted accounts, it works, but then it argues when the report loads because our reports use windows integrated authentication.  We would prefer to have windows integrated authentication to control who can see reports by their
login name.  Any ideas?  I feel like I have exhausted options.

Can you please elaborate on how to avoid using Kerberos and use the Secure Store to access our external SQL data? In our test environment, we have SharePoint 2013 Ent, SQL 2012 Ent. I am trying to use PowerView to access a Direct Query data model created
in SSAS tabular mode. My connection from SharePoint to the model is successful but fails with a reporting service error:

  • Acrobat X and Sharepoint Integration

We noticed a weird issue today which I hope someone can help. Im not finding much on google.
We have a document library with versioning enabled. When a user opens a PDF file they can view the most recent version, but when they attempt to look at a previous version thay get an error that says:
"The URL you have provided cannot be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and the network location is reachable."
This only happens on older versions of a document.
Older versions of acrobat can open these revisions without a problem.
Also, if I disable the Adobe/SharePoint IE addon the files are accessible but that rules out the integration within SP.
    Thanks a ton!

    Hi mchagar <http://forums.adobe.com/people/mchagar> ,
    Thanks for your reply!!
Because we have tens of thousands of existing items and documents which use SharePoint’s default Keywords, and many document libraries, we are keen to wait for an Adobe solution.
We are aware that we could create an additional column and copy Keywords to the new column. It is simply a large amount of work in a Corporate Environment, for no reason.
Hopefully Adobe will improve their products to include support for built-in SharePoint fields.
    We’ll wait a bit longer.
