Questions on SES

Hi,
We went through the PDF docment <b>Enabling Full-Text Search for Business Objects in mySAP ERP</b> by Karsten Hohage. We have following observation/questions based on our understanding of the document.
1) For all the business objects mentioned in the PDF, it appears to be a PUSH functionality. Meaning, for a particular Business object the indexing are created using the ABAP stack and then the indexes are pushed into TREX. Is this understanding correct?
2) If the above understanding is correct, the super userid is used for creating indexes. However during a search operation it would be desirable to filter search results depending upon user profile. How is this functionality achieved ?
3) If we want to use third party application, meaning pulling data of Business object and passing it to third party applications for maintaining indexes how the above functionality be useful ?
4) Is there a possibility to port this functionality to older SAP versions.
Any insight would be appreciated.

1) Your understanding is correct.
2) Before a search result list is presented to the user, it has been checked by the affected applications for the actual logon user.
3) It's not designed for that.
4) This is currently not planned.

If I'm licensed for Univeral Records Management including...

Univeral Content Management, Content Server, Records Management adapters (& more), do I still have to purchase a license for Secure Enterprise Search to make Records management work with the FileSystem adapter (that I'm licensed for?). I guess another way to ask the question is: SES is required for the Records Management FileSystem adapter, but does that mean I have to pay extra for it or is it included in the "bundle" I've already purchased?

After searching (forever) on the Oracle site, I found the answer to my question:
Oracle Universal Records Management Adapter for File Systems requires Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES). The SES license is not included with this adapter and needs to be purchased separately.

Simple SES question

We are looking at SES in our ECC EhP3 instances.
I have installed a 7.1 TREX instance and created indexes for the DRAW, BUS0010, BUS1001006 and LFA1 bus. objects.
I can query these indexes when I use the Test button for the Search Help in SE11.
My problem is that they don't appear in the Search Help for transactions I thought would use these objects. For example, the transaction CV03N (Display Document) doesn't pickup the DRAW SES.
From debugging, I can see the Search Help querying the table DD30L for the SHLPNAME of CV01. The DRAW SES is called CV_TREX (I believe) and is not selected from this query.
The documentation says that I just have to activate the business object and build the index in SES_ADMIN, no further action is required.
Obviously I'm missing something. Can someone tell me what it is?

You write that your search help runs already in test mode. But please make sure that you are using the standard search helps and the standard customizing for your objects. Or at least compare your private search helps with the standard ones, specially regarding the usage of the search help exits.

There you find specific advise, how to integrate customer-specific search helps.

863625 - Linking DEBI/KRED search helps to the TREX search
This note is required for getting LFA1 to operate.

General Question: SES and data duplicacy

Hello
Feeds used in SES contain all data and metadata , isnt it duplicate data?
Why dont we have link with permissions(ACL) to original data.
In general does SES duplicates all the data it crawls?

If sth is wrong with ODS other data target will also suffer
If it is full load dont worry...next load will take care of missing request
If it is delta load than how it is possible....because if your delta load fails system will never allow to do next delta load untill the previoyus delta is repaired by repeat delta process....
Generally full loads are not prone to error...u might have errors in Delta load...for that just chk RSA3 if extractor is working fine and then RSA7....

Can't figure out how to use Amazon SES as a smart host for Exchange Online

I have a problem that is proving very difficult to solve, and I'm hoping someone on here might know a bit more about this.
I am trying to configure MS Exchange Online to route all emails through Amazon SES as a relay server, however the problem is that SES seems to want you to pass it SMTP username and password credentials to authenticate with, and I don't think Exchange Online
allows for this?
I have checked all the options in Outbound Connector section and there doesn't seem to be any place where I can choose SMTP authentication. On Exchange 2013 and on-premise 365 Exchange solution I believe you can do this, but with pure Exchange Online
I'm not sure...
Does anyone know whether this is possible, and if not why Microsoft doesn't allow it / if they might be intending to enable this in the near future?

Standard (ABAP coding) delivery for SES in CRM 2007?

I found the Netweaver functionality "Search Engine Service (SES)" on help.sap.com.
This function sounds great. Documents on SDN (like "https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21404ae5-0601-0010-0395-a6d917099f1a" and "https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a751a1ec-0a01-0010-f0ba-89e4c5cd0261") tell that this functionality is part of Netweaver ABAP and that there're already ready-to-use implementations for business objects in SAP ERP.
However, we're using CRM and want to extend the search functionalities using SES. I was able to create an index for business object BUS1006 (business partner) and insert some data, search for it, and so on. However, it was necessary to do all the data selection manually.
I found enhancement spot COM_PRODUCT_SE which seems to deal with the product search using SES. I tried with business object BUS1006 where enhancement spot HRHAP00_SES seems to be used - however with no (sample) implementation. When creating/updating an index using report COM_SE_DISPATCHER, the methods of the corresponding BADI implementation are called to retrieve object IDs, attribute names, attribute values and so on. As described before, this seems to be not delivered by SAP standard, thus, we have to do the coding in methods IF_HAP_SES_BUSOBJ_AESGET_ATTRIBUTE_NAME_LIST, IF_HAP_SES_BUSOBJ_AESGET_ATTRIBUTE_VALUES, IF_HAP_SES_BUSOBJ_AES~GET_OBJECT_ID_LIST on ourselves?
So my question is: Is the ready-to-use implementation of SES for CRM business objects already contained (and I didn't find it) or will it be part of further shipments?

Hi Wolfgang,
unfortunately, CRM did not include the SES methods in all their objects.
CRM will focus on enabling their objects on "Embedded Search", which is basically "the next version of SES" that will beavailable for Business Suite 2008 applications. This will then also enable CRM content to be searched through SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search.
Of course you can - in the meantime - attempt your own implementation of SES for CRM objects. Unfortunately, I am not the right guy to further help with coding details for that.

Installing SES on Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi.
According to documentation SES can't be installed on Windows 7. Only Windows Server 2003 (64-bit), Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit), Windows Server 2008 R1 SP1 or higher service pack (64-bit) are supported. But I know there is a hint which helps you to install SES on Windows 7 (http://filizyuksel.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/oracle-database-11g-is-not-certified-on-the-current-operating-system/).
The question is: if I use this hint, will SES be installed correctly? And will it work correctly?
(SES version is 11.1.2.2.0)

Clicking "yes" initiates the installer. Midway through the installation i'm greeted with another message. "installation has been interrupted" ... "no changes have been made."
Let's try making sure that nothing is running when we try to do the install.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes64setup.exe to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.
Now restart the PC. *Don't open any applications after the restart.* Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Does that get you past the error message, Peter?

Changing global name of SES db

Hi,
I installed SES. While trying a simple sqlplus connect to the db, I saw that the global_name of the SES db is set to SES.server_name instead of SES.domain_name. I changed it with the alter database command and I found 2 config files: <ses home>\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_SEARCH\config\data-sources.xml and <ses home>\search\webapp\config\search.properties. I also changed the listener.ora and restarted everything. After that I could login to the admin page http://server:port/search/admin/control/login.jsp and create a source, do some config etc. When trying to execute a schedule, I got the error EQG-30050: Could not connect to database. In the crawler log file, I could see the connect string was still wrong, using as service_name my old global_name.
So my question is: where can I find the crawler settings or what do I have to modify when the global name of the SES database has changed?

It worked fine after the first install. But the db configuration assistant has set the global_name of the database to SES.<servername> instead of SES.<domainname>, which is the standard in our company.

How to use SES in my application?

My manager plan to use SES in our application which maybe resolve our requirements. So he ask me to take a test. But now I'm in trouble.
First, our application have more than about 500 tables, and one third of them need to be searched.shall I create each table source for them?
Second, In the administrator's guide -- Web Services API -- search operations -- doOracleSearch Message , the parameter of groups, it says: Limit the search result to the documents from specified source groups. The default is for all groups if not set explicitly. So my code is following like this:
OracleSearchResult searchResult = stub.doOracleSearch(req.getParameter("searchTerm"),new Integer(1), new Integer(10), Boolean.TRUE,Boolean.TRUE,null, "en", "en", Boolean.TRUE, null, null,null);
I want get the default value, So I write null. But the result isn't all of the hits, just come from one of the table source groups. why?
Third, Global Settings -- Translate Source Group Name, I translated my source group, I checked the search result element(oracle.search.query.webservice.client.ResultElement), the group's name and display name were same with written in English, but the infoSourcePath was translated. Where was my mistake?
Fourth, I defined a private search attribute for a source from Global settings -- Search Attributes.
And in the Home -- Sources , I choose a column with this attribute. When I search this hit use doOracleSearch, I get this attribute name, display name, type ,but how can I get this column value which mapped with this attribute?

In answer to your first question, no - you probably don't want to create a table source for each table. Instead, try to create a view which combines as many as possible of these tables (perhaps with UNIONs) then create a "table" source on that.
Not sure of the answers to your other questions, hopefully someone else will be able to answer them.

Functions from Module Scoping Question

Hello,
I have the following case:
I`m using module that contains several functions, some of them are executing commends in remote sessions. These functions are used from Powershell Script.
The issue is that when function refers to variable from the local computer using the “$Using:var” syntax, it does not tries to access the variables that is defined in Script scope.
The exception is:
“Invoke-Command : The value of the using variable ‘$using:var’ cannot be retrieved because it has not been set in the local session.”
This behavior is not reproduced when the functions are defined in the Script. I`m aware that Modules have their own “Scope”(or Context or whatever…), so I suppose the behavior is by design
I`m able to workaround it in two ways:
Using the “$Using:global:var” syntax in the script block or dot source the script.
However it`s not so appropriate for my purpose.
My Question is:
Can I force the Functions that comes from Module to behave the same way as if they are defined in the Script.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Well, at least you finally had the guts to post what you meant by "Import-Module in DOT SOURCING MODE". As expected, it's garbage.
As you've pointed out, when you pass a path to a .ps1 file to Import-Module, it recognizes that a .ps1 file is not a module, and just dot-sources the script to load its contents instead. (And as you pointed out in your report on connect, this behavior
is buggy. Microsoft probably shouldn't have included it at all, and just had Import-Module produce an error if you try to point it as a non-module file, but whatever. The functionality is there now.)
Any discussion of Script Modules has nothing do with dot-sourcing a ps1 file, regardless of whether you did it yourself, or called Import-Module. Script Modules are psm1 files, and when they are imported, it happens in a very different way than when
a script is dot-sourced. Modules get their own session state which is separate from the main PowerShell session (except for the Global scope, which is shared by everything). That separation of session state is what leads to the types
of problems the OP posted here.
Now that you've finally owned up to what you were talking about, it would appear that your proposed solution is to stop using Script Modules, and just dot-source ps1 files instead. Have fun with that.

Question regardind PO Services

Hi experts.
I made a Service PO, with one line who haves 1 as quantity.
After that i made with the ML81N Tcode the SeS, in that SES i have 4 lines with the following data:
Qty 672,988
Qty 39,948
Qty 2.470,522
Qty 124,334
Qty 604,141
Each qty represents an invoice.
The total amount of that SES is around 1000000 USD, when i do the MIRO against the PO or the SES i get only one position with the total amount (1000000 USD) and the quantity field greyed.
My question is.... is there a way to only pay one position of that SES using the MIRO instead of the total amount?, and if its possible how can i do it?

so that only perticular item from PO will be selected for entry

Create number range for Service Entry Sheet (SES)

I would like it is possible to configure the number range for Service Entry Sheet (SES) or it is fixed in the system? Besides, for my current configuration, the number only appear when SES is done but no reversal number if I reversed the SES, is this a correct setting? Or is there any way I can set the number for reversal document?

HyperV 2012 best practice question (storage of guests)
