Hello Guys,
IS ORACLE 10g enterprise edition is same oracle identity management because I am bit confused what is going on when we logged an SR we have been told to use oracle 10g AS (10.1.3.5) but in the note its always says oracle 10g AS 10.1.4.X. which is in turn an Identity management so we need install oracle 10gAS (10.1.3.5) then on top of that we install oracle identity management which comprises of OSSO and OID . is it correct ??
in reference note 376811.1
please advise
thanks
MN

Hello Hussien,
Anyways I upgraded to 10.1.3.5 patch_set 10gAs on ebiz r12.0.6
I have other question regarding the doc ID 376811.1
in there is section
Pre-Install Task 4: Apply the latest certified Application Server Patchset
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 is certified with the Application Server Patch Sets listed in the table below:
Certified AS Patchset Download Location One-off Patch details (if any)
Oracle Identity Management 10g Release 3 Patch Set 1 (10.1.4.2) 5983637 8811442
Oracle Identity Management 10g Release 3 Patch Set 2 (10.1.4.3) 7215628 8811442
Oracle Application Server and Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 2 (10.1.2.2.0) 4960210
Oracle Application Server and Oracle Developer Suite 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0)
5983622
Follow the installation instructions provided in the patch README to install the patch on your Identity Management Server and to check supported operating systems.
Oracle always recommends latest certified AS patchset for E-Business Suite customer
I installed oracle 10gas 10.1.4.0.1 its up and running so do i need to just apply the patchset oracle Identity management 10gR3 patcheset (10.1.4.3)
or  I have to apply  both 10.1.4.3 and the oracle Application server 10g release 2 (10.1.2)patch set 3(10.1.2.3.0) ???
because in enterprise manager application server control it says version 10.1.2.0.2 and identity management components show 10.1.4.0.1 .
thanks in advance.

  • How to change IP, Hostname and domain name for Oracle Application R12

    Hi,
I'm new to Oracle, we used to have one production and one test server for Oracle Application R12, but the test server was corrupted, so we decided to clone production server and create a new test server, after cloning and creation of test server, how should we do to change IP address, hostname and domain name for test server?
Our production and test server environment is:
    Linux Enterprise AS 2.6.9
Application module: E-Business Suite Treasury only
Your advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Regard,
Kenneth.tnsnames.ora is used only by client processes. listner.ora is used only to configure the listener, and that is a server side issue only. In addition, the listener can start without any listener.ora at all, using all default values. See my discussion of tns issues at edstevensdba.wordpress.com
If you are using dbcontrol, you will most likely need to reconfigure it, using the emca utility.

    2) Again, I can't log onto Sqlplus due to this error:

    4) from Programme, Start menu, I can't see the Forms and report developer menus.
    Will appreciate any contributions

    Hi Hussein,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. Please below my reply to yours (" ").
Did you install on XP Professional?
    "Yes I did "
Did the installation complete successfully with no errors?
    "Yes I did "
    1) FRM-92095 :Oracle JInitiator version too low. Please install version 1.1:8.2 or higher
    2) Again, I can't log onto Sqlplus due to this error:
    Enter user-name: apps/apps

Please run AutoConfig and make sure it completes successfully.

“I do not know where the path for the web-server log to look into”
Also, please make sure you source the application/database env file before you connect via sqlplus.
“Please can you confirm how to source the application/database env file “
    3) I get only dos prompt for sqlplus logon and not the usual sqlplus white background screen.
This is an expected behavior since R12 comes with 11gR1 database.

  • Java Card and OID Implementation

    Hi
Has anyone used java card (Smart card) authentication and authorization with Oracle Internet Directory. Can it be done using the Identity Managment Component.
More specifically speaking , I want to create the trade partner user in internet directory and wants to enable the JAAS in oracle application server for authentication and authorization.
There are other types of users ( patient) who are having the biometric smart card (i.e. Java card). When these user swipes the finger, client based authentication is performed using the fingerprints and connects to the oid to get the authorization and personal details.
Please let me know the exact suggestion to implement these type of identification and authorizaiton. Please let me know if there is any oracle technical paper which addresses the mentioned problem.
    Thanks in Advance.
    with regards

I am interested in this also. We are currently trying to move our website to java card authentication with an OID directory. I know it has been done before but have not thoroughly researched it yet.

  • Directory and file permissions in Oracle EBS R12.2.4

    Hi there
I beleive that a typical R12.2.4 Linux x86-64 based environment has following directory structure under the installation directory (/u01/oracle/<SID>)
    11.2.0  data  fs1  fs2  fs_ne
So my question here is what should be the permission level of these directories (and their subdirectories) and the files underneath them. I am looking for permissions for both Database Tier and Application Tier directories and associated files. Is there a published Oracle Support document for this?
    Regards
    Kabeer

But by memory I recall that the files underneath the DB and Apps Tier's directories were having lesser permissions. And that's where I was asking to make sure.
The list of files/directories with the permissions are not documented and the only way to revert back to the original values which are set by Rapid Install is re-running the installation again.
If this instance is used for practice only you may keep permissions the way they are now as long as the application/database work with no issues.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • How to Install and Configure Discoverer with Oracle EBS R12

    Hi,
    We are using ,
    Oracle EBS Application Version: 12.1.1
Operating System Version : OEL 5.6
    Database Version : 11.1.0.7
We want to install Discoverer on Server where EBS R12 is installed. After doing initial analysis found that we need to install Application Server before installing Discoverer.. Is it right ?
If yes then which Application Server version we need to download? can anyone post guidelines about Application Server version, place from where i can download it and installation guide ?
    Thanks,
    Priyanka

Thanks to all of you for your valuable guidance.. We are planning to install WLS. Meanwhile i came across one document saying EUL is pre-installed for Vision instance.
For connecting to EUL_US i have installed Discoverer Administrator and Deskop (10.1.2) on my win 7 machine. After that did following steps,
    1. Create folder under ORACLE_HOME (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure)
    2. Copied DBC file from $INST_TOP/appl/fnd/12.0.0/secure to "D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure" folder
    3. Copied TNS entry of EBS R12 at tnsnames.ora file
    4. Created environment variables FND_SECURE (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\secure) and FND_TOP (D:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1)
Tried to connect to Discoverer Administrator using Database User like SYSTEM and able to connect. But when tried connecting to Discoverer Administrator or Desktop using Application user then got following error,
    "Unable to connect to: cbrown@vis
Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password"
After doing some analysis on this error using Metalink and Forum made following changes,
    1. Set System Profile value "Signon Password Case" to "Insensitive".
    2. Updated value if the parameter "s_aapserverid_authenticate" from "SECURE" to "OFF" in context file and after that executed autoconfig.
Still not able to resolve the issue.. Can anyone guide me on this ?? So that i will be able to access Discoverer Desktop using my Vision instance Application users.

    Priyanka

  • Can Portal and OID Metadata Repository be shared?

    Hi
I am designing a solution for my client which includes Portal and OID implementation. I was then posed the question whether the portal and oid metadata repository should be shared. Is there any best practice that anyone can share? Thanks!
    Regards
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
I had faced this question once & I opted to use a separate Database for the Portal Schemas.
I am not aware of any document that details the best practices - but, my deisgn was based on the fact that the Portal Schemas would grow in future based on the number of Portal Pages & Applications. Our Client had forecast hat they would be using Portal quite heavily & hence, a separate MR was the way to go for us.
We just installed a new Oracle Database, used the Oracle Metadata Repository Creation Assistant & registered the database with Oracle Internet Directory. During the installation of Portal, the Oracle Universal Installer offers a choice of Metadata Repositories for the Portal Schema.

  • Unnecessary complication in PRECISION, SCALE implementation in Oracle

    After going through the post
Shouldn't this CREATE TABLE statement error out?
I think that PRECISION and SCALE implementation in Oracle is unnecessary complex.
If you want to store a number like 23.456
    create table john (empid number(5,3));
    Table created.
    INSERT INTO JOHN VALUES (23.456);
1 row created. In NUMBER(5,3) declaration 5 stands for the total number of digits including the numbers after the decimal point and 3 stands for the digits to right of the decimal point.
But don't you think the most straightforward way to store 23.456 would be
create table john (empid number(2,3)); -- 2 for the numbers to the left of the decimal and 3 for the numbers right to the decimal.
Why didn't Oracle Corporation choose a simpler syntax like i've mentioned?

Oracle stores all numbers using significand and exponent (in scientific notation), so using this same framework to declare the number of digits of precision is most accurate and flexible.
Although the use of scientific notation is not common when writing about units of currency, so this usage may seem non-intuitive at first glance.
Your proposed syntax would cause other problems with very large or small numbers.
How about a number like 4.567E100?
This number only requires 4 digits of precision and is perfectly valid in an Oracle database.
The implementation is explained well in the Concepts Guide and is both simple and elegant.

    Hi,
Most of these integrations are prebuilt. Look for AIA/PIP.
If you check out the presentations from OOW there were session on how other customers have done this.
