Questions on Using MAPS 1.0 on E90.

A couple of questions on Maps.
I started fiddling with Navigation. If I back out and come back, is there a way to resume where I left off with regard to route planning without having to select the from/to locations and re-do the entire thing? I guess, can I save a route?
Can I 'speed up' the simulation? (drive faster by, say, forcing the driving speed to a higher speed)
Can I 'start a simulation' from a point along the route? Particularly so if I am interrupted during a simulation.
On my E90, I find Maps to be rather unreliable. Maps 1.0 Crashes - how can I try the new 2.0 Beta?
Is there a 'supported/official' way of downloading Maps and putting them on my E90 given that the Map Loader application does not work? Well, it didn't work last time I tried it, does it work for anyone else? Sheesh, I have been using Maps via my Wireless Home network - it sure does soak down the data - it would drive me broke if I was paying the data costs here in Oz!

I am pretty sure I tried all the stuff you mentioned, except I don't think that I had achieved a GPS fix prior to using the Map Loader.
The manual said nothing about requiring a GPS fix first, it only says to have run MAPS and to connect in Data Transfer mode (yes, I have read the manual and just about all the info there is on MAPS and Map Loader).
I am a long time user of Symbian (since a Psion Revo, and a Psion Siena before that) and each time I buy a symbian device after the Revo, I go through a period of disappointment, then frustration before settling down to acceptance. Apps crash, functionality is crippled by people who have no idea about user friendly interfaces (Revo Agenda was awesome compared to the garbage Calendar used nowadays on Symbian) and applications/System are flakey. I think I might even call this the Symbian Syndrome.

  • Basic questions on using Maps offline

    Hi ... I'm getting a new phone, probably the 7230.  It is not on the list of supported phones for Maps.  However, the specs say it has Maps installed.  So I have a couple of questions.
    First ... is it possible to run a map application on the 7230? 6350? 2730? (Note: 7230 is S60, 6350 is S40)
    Can you download maps using your PC, transfer them, and then access them from your phone without your phone going 'online' with an internet connection?
    6350 Are the maps 'zoomable' on the phone?
    Is there a cost for any of this?
    (My main use for maps would be simply around my own city, getting to places I'm not familiar with with.  If the answers to all of the above are YES, then that would work perfectly)
    One other question ... the GPS in the phone ...
    Will that work with Maps?  ie, will it show your location?
    If so, does it incur a usage charge?
    I have to say, the Maps thing is all very confusing.  I understand that Maps with Navigation is a pay service, but outside of that, it's very unclear.  Phones have specs saying they do maps, but don't show up in the compatibility list, for example.  I hope someone can bring some clarity to this, not just for me, but for others.  I see many questions on the same topic.
    Thanks

    Hi rcashin.
    U can check whether the phone have free satnav at: SatNav
    Yes, it can be completely free, this thread  might help: FREESatNav
    And yes, u can zoom and it is LIVE data.
    But remember Nokia recomends using the online/network/fee-paying options since it is faster and more accurate....

    Hi,
    I am generating profiles uisng the ODSs, and i have a question about the mapping:
    For IO 0TCTNIOBJNM, I am mapping it to 0HIER_NODE for text node .
    What should these be mapped to? What are these supposed to be?

    Thanks so much for the reply.
    Before I posted my code, I double-checked my syntax and think I found the problem. I using Fragments at the beginning of my page, and at the end, to construct a wrapper table where I can put some fancier graphics, etc. I'm using the fragments and plain old HTML because using another gridpanel on each page is a bit cumbersome, and also I need the flexibility of possibly doing some dynamic things to this table... Because each fragment doesn't have matching tags to complete the page, I think that's screwing up the designer, as you suggested. For instance, here is my fragment at the top of each page :
    <TABLE WIDTH="100%" BORDER="1">
    <TR>
    <TD ALIGN="CENTER" VALIGN="TOP">
    <TABLE WIDTH="595" BORDER="2" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" BORDERCOLOR="#184266">
    <TR>
    <TD WIDTH="50%" ALIGN="LEFT" BGCOLOR="#184266"> </TD>
    <TD WIDTH="50%" ALIGN="RIGHT" BGCOLOR="#184266"> </TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD COLSPAN="2" ALIGN="CENTER" VALIGN="TOP">
    <!-- WIZARD GRID BEGINS HERE -->
    Any suggestions on a better way to use includes to break out some necessary HTML??
    THANKS very much!

  • Using MAP on networks with AIX and Oracle

    Im new to MAP. We have an environment with Windows and AIX hosts which i want to use MAP on. I see plenty of references to MAP being compatable with Linux and even HP-UX.  But will it also discover AIX hosts too?  In particular, Oracle databases
    on AIX?  Thanks!!

    Some distros of Linux and HP-UX for UNIX are what is supported, but it may be possible for MAP to inventory AIX, but no guarantees. For Oracle, when MAP inventories a Linux/UNIX machine, it queries for the RPM and DPKG installations then looks for ‘Oracle’
    in the vendor attribute. Any application that is not listed in either of those queries is not discovered by MAP.
    Therefore, if Oracle was installed by some other means then it is unlikely to be discovered through this method. Admittedly, I have almost no knowledge of how these services work and if they register software or something else.

  • Using map file from Mercator in ECXpert

    Hi all,
    I am using the Mercator map file in the Mercator example (<Mercator install dir>\Examples\XML\XML2EDI\ XML2EDI.mms) and convert the map file to Solaris platform map file (XML2EDI.sun) using Mercator Map Designer.
    After that the .sun map file is used in ECXpert. The input file is poin.xml. The transaction is not succesful and error occurs as the require stylesheet base directory not found.
    The stylesheet directory can be set in the /<install dir>/NS-apps/ECXpert/data/stylesheet/ecxstylesheet.xml, but the problem is for this map file (.sun), the stylesheet is not used.
    Question:
    1.Does map file (.sun) need a stylesheet?
    2.Does this stylesheet need to be created?
    3.What are the requirements to use the .sun map file (that is converted from.mms for xml input file)?
    Do appreciate your response. Thanks.

    Hi Saket,
    Thanks for ur reply.
    I have change the partnership type to normal type
    (Application to Apllication), but still having the
    same problem which it always looking for a
    stylesheet.
    Seems like i am using the ECXpert XML capabilities as
    well even though i have change to Application to
    Application in the partnership.You probably need to describe what you are doing in greater detail here. Looks like a configuration issue to me. Also, what version of ECX are you using? And what is the version of the Mercator Design Studio (including the patch number/build number)?
    If you can provide me with more details of the steps you are doing to set this up, I may be able to help you better.
    >
    Question:
    How do i use Mercator in ECXpert? Is this the right
    way by simply convert a Mercator map file to (.sun)
    and put it into the map file path of ECXpert and
    creating partnership and services for it?That is correct. Don't see anything obviously wrong here. You have to watch out for the version of your Design Studio and the Mercator runtime though. Have you opened a case with Sun Tech Support for this? If not, I suggest you do so.

  • Questions about shared maps

    Hi,
    I have some questions about shared maps. Our Olite Applications has 96 tables. On these 96 tables, 54 tables are tables with DISABLED DML = UID. So, change on the client database are not uploaded to the server. Some of those tables have no where clause and some have a where clause which is the same where clause for all.
    Is it true to say I could put all those tables as shared maps?
    Are they automatically shared because DISABLED DML = UID?
    What would be the advantages of putting those publications items as shared maps?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your help.
    I looked into CMP$ tables and CLID$$CS is not 0 but egal to my usersnames. I use a java program to create my items and publications.
    I also found in the table C$ALL_TEMPLATE_ITEMS a COLUMN named SHARED and they are all with the value N. So I think they are not shared.
    I think I found where in the API I should make the table shared. It is in the addPublicationItem procedure of the Class ConsolidatorManager. I will try it.
    If we want all users to have all the table data, must we use the groups you talked about?
    If yes, how do i define those groups?
    Thanks

  • How to use MAP to get CALs license

    i want to use MAP detect CALs license on windows sever, exchange, SQL sever. can i use MAP to detect, how?

    See the Getting Started Guide for a list of supported server products for getting CAL info. For Windows Server, SQL Server, and SharePoint Server CAL info you need to enable logging on the supported servers and then import and parse those logs after they
    have been collecting the data for long enough. We recommend 90 days but you can work out the amount of logging that will be acceptable with your licensing professional. You can read how to configure the event logging in Section 1 of the Getting Started Guide.
    Exchange, SCCM, and Forefront Endpoint Protection will have data without importing logs by simply choosing those inventory scenarios in the wizard.

  • Using Maps in France

    I am going to France on holiday and hiring a car over there and would like to use Maps on my N95 as a Sat Nav. Can someone please give me some pointers on:
    1. How can I check that I have French maps loaded
    2. Do I need to set up anything in advance (I have not used the system as a Sat Nav in UK as I have one in my car)
    3. Is it likely to be expensive to do it?
    Thanks

    Hi jcaswell
    I am assuming that your WLAN is your access point whilst you experiment here, if whilst in Nokia Maps you hold down the "#" to zoom out, move your cursor across to France and see whether or not kb meter above the satellite reception icon needs to download any map detail.
    As previously mentioned provided that in Options > Tools > Settings > Internet - Go online at start-up is set to "No" then there would be no surprises in store due to roaming cost of GPRS data download costs. You don't need an active network connection for "Voice navigation" to work if that answers your question, although you would not be able to use "search" facility for information around destination without one.

  • Using maps in j2me

    Hi,
    I don't know if this is the apropriate place to post this, but I'm starting to become desesperate about this.
    I'm a student and my degree project needs to use maps. My application cannot comunicate with web so I'm limited to use maps stored in the PDA. I've searched in web and found the open street map project that allow the download of maps. I'm planning to use this source in my project and I've found an API for j2me called osm2gpsmid and I cannot find any documentation about its implemtation. I cannot use j2meMap (it uses google maps) because I can't have connection to web so I would like to know if someone can help me and give me some tips about the use of maps on j2me without using a internet connection.
    Thanks for your atention.

    Hi,
    A Combobox like in J2SE is not available in MIDP.
    But, you can use a ChoiceGroup for providing a list of choices. It's even possible to play with the ChoiceGroup configuration by specifying a choicetype. Most implementations will visualise Choice.POPUP as one visible choice and when 'toggling' a small box comes up. ChoiceGroup configured as Choice.POPUP seems to be the best alternative to the 'known' J2SE Combobox.
    Hope that answers your question...
    Good luck!

  • Using MAP to license keys on ALL connected machines

    Hi!
    Is it possible to read out the license keys on all connected machines, when running this from the server?

    I would like to make the distinction that MAP is just a data collection tool and does not determine compliance. Licensing is mostly about documentation and you can use MAP to help compare what it finds to what they have for license documentation. So, if
    they have 20 Windows 7 licenses but MAP finds 25 computers with Windows 7, then you know there is a problem, regardless of the product key used.

  • Lots of different errors when using Maps on Linux, help?

    I'm trying to use Maps in one of my programs, but for some reason I get all sorts of different errors when compiling.
    I've tried both my own (very) simple tests of it and also I've copied and pasted the code straight out of the official tutorials.
    //Edit: Ok, I've tried it on several different IDEs, and Netbeans (on both Linux and Windows) and JCreator(on Windows) both work now for whatever reason. The only one I still have problems with is below.
    Here some of the errors I get, and nothing is making sense.
    On a Linux machine, using a simple IDE (Geany):
    MapTest.java:6: not a statement
    Map<String, Integer> m = new TreeMap<String, Integer>();
    ^
    MapTest.java:6: ';' expected
    Map<String, Integer> m = new TreeMap<String, Integer>();
    I don't know why it isn't working.

    What do IDEs have to do with this? It's a compiler error.
    Do you import java.util.Map and java.util.TreeMap?
    Are you using JDK 5 or higher? Generics didn't appear in Java until JDK 5.

  • What are the advantages of using Map IDs?

    Hi:
    I am trying to find out the advantages for using map ids as
    opposed to just using the file names for the topics, but I couldn't
    find this information in the RH7 Help or the forums. Can you please
    list the advantages and disadvantages.
    Also, I am describing how I wish to implement the context
    sensitive help feature for my application and you can tell me which
    approach is better. We make an application that is packaged within
    a Java IDE. We want to launch context sensitive help topics from
    the wizards and cheat sheets. Now, this context sensitive help can
    be either be installed on the local machine or network (file://
    protocol) or available on our portal (https:// protocol). We do
    have the infrastructure in place to let the user decide whether
    he/she wants to access the local help topic or the one over the
    internet. Will map ids work for both the scenarios?
    Thanks,
    K

    It sounds like your application call needs to call an online
    version of the help first and if this is not available to point to
    a local copy. Is that right? If so, how this happens is entirely in
    the hands of your developers. I know it can be done, just sketchy
    on the actual procedure.
    As far as the CSH in the help is concerned, you can use
    mapids for both versions of the help if you want. If using webhelp
    you'd do well to check out
    this
    link on Peter Grainge's site.
