Quetion about support of attributes in planning

Hi All,
I have one doubt in Oracle essbase study guides I found that Only 'Text atrributes are supported in planning databases' but in planning work space I am able to create text, numeric, boolean and date types of attribute and able to use manage database select options Database to reflect outline changes of assigned attribute dimension to sparse dimension. Even after planning refresh I am able to see boolean, date, numeric attributes in essbase outline. So planning is supporting these 4 types of attributes? am I correct or going wrong somewhere?
In few words my question whether planning supports only text attribute or text, numeric, boolean and date type of attributes?

Thanks Mehmet. In Oracle Essbase boot camp material in the attribute dimension chapter he mentioned as a note: Only text attributes are supported in planning databases. Can check this and have you worked on date, boolean and numeric attributes in planning? While working are you facing any issues?

  • No permission to copy file (to NAS with AFP support) - extended attributes?

For certain files that I copy from one of my drives to the NAS here (Synology 206j), ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard, Finder's behaviour has changed. It will simply refuse to copy the file, stating that "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
The source is an external USB drive in Mac OS Extended format, I do have full permissions on the files and in any case the drive is set to ignore ownership.
The target is, like most NASes, in EXT3 format. It's sharing via its own AFP implementation.
I'd have tried repairing permissions, but for whatever reason, it's greyed out on my external drives. Since then I've figured that it was probably not that anyway, which will become apparent:
I tried copying the file via the terminal and it actually worked, but also gave an error: "cp: myfile: could not copy extended attributes to /Volumes/media backup/myfile: Operation not permitted"
This suggests to me that, as expected, the target volume doesn't support extended attributes. But rather than popping up with the message that Leopard did (something along the lines of "your target volume doesn't support extended attributes so your file's metadata may be lost, do you wish to continue") it just aborts instead.
I'm not sure if this is a Snow Leopard problem or a change that Synology need to catch up with. A workaround is to compress the file to ZIP first.
Thought I'd mention it here before trying to report it as a bug somewhere. Anyone else having similar issues, either with a NAS or some other storage, in which case please specify?

Thanks guys, yeah I've been monitoring the netatalk mailing list myself: they're onto the same problem, have come to the same conclusions about it being Extended Attributes and have much better proof of such than I
It looks like they're currently debating the best way to fix it (pretending to support EAs but sending them to a black hole being the quick and dirty way, but I suspect they'll go for implementation)
It'll be a while for sure, but the Synology guys are very good with Mac support so I'm sure they'll apply the update fairly quickly once the netatalk crew get something public. FWIW, I did detect a certain sense of urgency from the netatalk discussions.
Although it's essentially answered, I'll leave the question marked as unanswered in case Apple come up with a better one

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.
More information on these topics can be found here:

  • No reset option in about:support (firefox 32)

at about:support there is no option to reset firefox to it's default state. this option should be available in the upper right hand portion of the screen on this page.
When I restarted firefox in safe mode the only option on the dialog box was to start firefox in safe mode, there was no option to reset firefox. This option should be contained in said dialog box.
Is a deliberate change for firefox 32? Has my client has been altered in this respect? Is there another way to reset firefox to it's default state? If removal and re-instillation of my client becomes necessary, what will the easiest way to preserve my bookmarks be(is there an automatic feature or will I be manually copying them from my preferences folder)?

You only see the reset button on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page if you use the profile that is marked as Default=1 in the profiles.ini file.
If you do not have the "Reset" button then either use the Profile Manager to create a new profile or use the Profile Manager to start with the current default profile to get the Reset button in Firefox.
You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile to check if your current profile is causing your problem.
    See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

  • How to fill out the clipboard under "about:support" when enter button does not work in address bar? Thearrow button does not work either?

My enter btton does not work in the address bar or search engine. I have done the restart in safe mode...deleted and reinstalled firefox...done the malware/adware checks...still no improvement.
I was asked to do the "about:support" then click enter for the clipboard to paste the system notes into. That is not an option however because the orginal problem is the enter button not working. Ideas?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

  • Questions about supporting TLF with Halo components in Flex 4.1

We recently decided to upgrade to the Flex 4.1 SDK after a year or so at 3.2.  We have been asked to not use the new SPARK components yet because our products would then have a mistmatch of Halo and Spark components in the UI.  We have built support for our Halo components to display html through the ".htmlText" property for the Text components.  For example, we can display strings such as "<p>Choose <b>one</b> option:</p>".  With the upgrade to Flex 4.1 a couple of questions about supporting bi-directional text have come up.  My understanding is that in order to support bi-directional text we need to use the Text Layout Framework.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how we can utilize the TLF with the Halo components in Flex 4.1?    Can we still use the ".htmlText" property somehow or is there a new property that understands the TextFormat markup?  We would love to still be able to use the limited html tags that are supported for the "htmlText" property.  Is there an option where that syntax is still understood?
    Thanks in advance!
    David

The halo components use TextField, and the spark components use TLF. Both sets have support for some html markup to import and export text. To use bidi text, you have to use TLF; TextField won't work properly.
It is possible to use TLF to build your own components, and this can work well particularly for applications with specialized needs. But if you need bidi support for advanced components like DataGrid and List, then you should use the spark components.
    Thanks!

  • Java 7u45 gives spurious warning about missing Permissions attribute

The security dialog in 7u45 gives a yellow warning about missing Permissions attribute.   Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
Same as the yellow box in the screenshots (#2 and #3) documented here (although none of them discuss the Permissions attribute) :
What should I do when I see a security prompt from Java?
The MANIFEST.MF file for the app definitely contains this attribute.  There's only one jar for the application, and it's signed.
Might this be another security dialog bug?  Or am I missing something?  The JNLP contains the same "all-permissions" security tag.
I also found the release notes for 7u45 mention a couple of cases where the dialog might still appear
(see last issue: Java™ SE Development Kit 7 Update 45 Release Notes)
I don't use the JNLPDownloadServlet but my own. I didn't model it on the JNLPDownloadServlet, but guess I could have partly the same issue since I use versioning.
My jar doesn't fail to download though, it's just that its displaying this warning.
    MANIFEST.MF:

    https://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
    https://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
I dug the jar for the applet out of my Java cache and it contains Manifest.MF with the following contents:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Codebase: www.java.com java.com
    Created-By: 1.7.0_25 (Oracle Corporation)
    Permissions: all-permissions

The jar contains one Java class and a signed JNLP-INF/APPLICATION.JNLP file that looks like this:

The JNLP file downloaded from here: https://java.com/en/download/JavaDetection_applet.jnlp matches the signed JNLP file in the jar (except for name).
We are still working on getting our applications to not show the warning message but this appears to be an example of where the "you will be blocked in the future" message is not happening. We don't run our applications as applets so if anyone can find another working example that is a more traditional JNLP app, please post a link.

  • About:Support in nightly doesn't allow you to restore to default

When I go to about:support with Firefox Nightly, there is NO option to restore everything back to the default, basically getting rid of everything you had installed, but not bookmarks, history, and a couple of other things.
Is there a way, besides doing it manually, to set Firefox Nightly back to default settings like you just installed it? I'm enclosing the troubleshooting information below, but I really don't think that this will help. I would really appreciate any and all help concerning this matter.
    Thank You.

Yes, I already done that. I set it up that way! This is how I run the NIGHTLY:
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Nightly\firefox.exe" -P "David - Nightly" -no-remote
As I've mentioned, I haven't seen anyway to set the Nightly back to the default settings (like when I first installed it - I've done this with the Beta, Aurora and Release Candidate. They are all installed in DIFFERENT Directories and the profiles associated with each one. Can ANYONE tell me how to get Firefox Nightly back to the original settings, without using the Safe Mode or manually disabling everything. I would appreciate any and all help.
    Thank You.

  • Is there any way to disable supporting detail functionality in Planning?

    Hi all
Just had a user request to be able to disable the supporting detail functionality in Planning forms. We are on 11.1.1.3. All we want is to disable the double click functionality that brings up the supporting detail box.
    Thanks

Ok I have found a way to disable supporting detail and I thought I would share it in case anyone else needed to do this. Similar to what John has suggested, it involves javascript but a much simpler way.
In the parent directory of where the ValidateData.js file is {[Hyperion_Home]\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning} there are a large number of javascript files. I had a look through these and found the EnterData.js file. Make a backup of this file, and edit the original.
If you edit this, and search for doSupportingDetail, you can simply comment out all of the code in this function except for the return line. Its not a good idea to comment the whole function out or else I would expect other functions may call on this and then fail. At least if its just calling the doSupportingDetail and immediately returning back to the calling function, this would have no issues.
Restart your session and it should all work.
Obviously you can improve this blanket change by specifying which apps / forms supporting detail should apply for by using the equalsIgnoreCase function in the validatedatasample.js example.

    Hi Murthy,
The typical tickets in a <b>production Support work</b> could be:
    1. Loading any of the missing master data attributes/texts.
    2. Create ADHOC hierarchies.
    3. Validating the data in Cubes/ODS.
    4. If any of the load runs into errors then resolve it.
    5. Add/remove fields in any of the master data/ODS/Cube.
    6. Datasource Enhancement.
