Quick Battery Drainage

Since I have upgraded the firmware to 2.0 on my iPhone, I noticed that the battery life is much shorter. Now my battery life appears to be good for only one day.
Before I bring in my iPhone to Apple Support, is there anything about the new firmware that causes the battery to drain more quickly, any features that I should shut off if I am not using it?
I already switched *Fetch New Data* to Manual (a.k.a. off).

Here are some tips for you:
-Minimize use of location services (Settings > General > Location Services)
-Fetch new data less frequently (Settings > Fetch New Data)
-Turn off push mail when you don't need it (Settings > Fetch New Data)
-Auto check fewer mail accounts
-Minimize use of third party applications
-Turn off Wi-Fi
-Turn off Bluetooth
-Use Airplane Mode in low- or no-coverage areas
-Adjust brightness
-Turn off EQ
-Turn off 3G
I found this information here.

  • Problems with my new iPhone 5s : quick battery drainage & device getting too hot.

i just got a 64g Space Gray iPhone 5s yesterday and i noticed that the battery drainage was way too fast to be compatible with the longer battery life of iPhones. i have fully charged the battery three times in just 24hours even when i wasn't handling the phone much and i have tried to switch off any "applications" that might drain the battery. But then, why invest so much in a phone that you practically have to avoid using its functions??? The battery charge could suddenly jump from fully charged 100% to 93% in minutes then 65% in 45 - 60mins without doing any thing. It is so sad.
i also noticed that the body of the phone gets a little too hot for comfort, not the supposed warmth that might occur with use.
I don't know if i'm the only one experiencing this problem and i will appreciate your help as i bought this from a local store in my country and there is no APPLE STORE over here.
    Please Helpppppp!!!

Apple do not sell the iPhone in Nigeria ,you have an iPhone purchased in bulk from another Country
The warranty and ANY support for the iPhone from Apple will only be available in the country where the iPhone was purchased ,where ever that is ....................
Take it back to the  "local Store " it does not sound healthy

  • Iphone 4 quick battery drainage after sent for repair

HI, i bought my iphone 4 in Dec 2010, after using with no problem, in July, the sleep/wake button stuck, so i sent for repair. After 2 weeks i received back my repaired phone not new one. Then, i restored backup using Itunes, i noticed after that, my battery drain very fast. Before sending for repair, after i charged it at night and let it be on sleep mode (without using) until next morning at 6am, the battery will still have 100 - 99% and will last until 11pm (pls take note that i am quite an active user). But after i got it back from repair, i charged it like usual at night but the phone will have around 89% at 6am (without using, in sleep mode) and only last until 5-6pm. ***?! I am so dissapointed in these series of problem. I don't have any Apple Store near my place. Please help me.

  • Has ios 4.3.2 solved the quick battery drain problem?

My 3rd generation ipod touch lasted for days on a battery charge using ios 3.1.3 form A;pril 2010 until July 2010.  After upgrading to ios 4.0 and other "updates" through 4.3.1 the battery does not last overnight when the touch is turned OFF or sleeping.  Apple has not responded to my eleven requests for help and the 'Genius?' offered no solutions except to turn off WI-FI, locations and other functions that I spent $300. to use.  The touch is now out of warranty, so IT IS TIME FOR APPLE TO RELEASE A SOFTWARE FIX FOR THE QUICK BATTERY DRAINS CAUSED BY IOS 4.xx.x.

Not for me.  I upgraded to iOS 4.3.2 on my iPod Touch G3 and everything worked OK, apps and all.  Then the next morning it was completely dead after putting it in standby with a full battery the night before.
I am VERY FRUSTRATED at what 4.2.x has done to the battery life on my iPod Touch.  I use it every day and until I got 4.2.0 I could count on it being there when I needed it.  Now I feel lucky that it even turns on.
I can NO LONGER recommend Apple phones or Touch to my family/friends until this is fixed!
    APPLE, PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT!

  • How to resolve battery drainage for 3GS on iOS 5.0.1?

I just bought a iphone 3GS from eBay. The seller upgraded it to iOS 5.0.1. It is working except the battery will decrease 10% every hour with aiplane mode on and I am not using it at the time. I attempt to downgrade it from iOS 5.0.1 to 4.3.3 using some jailbreak methods but failed due to I do not have 4.3.3 SHSH blob.
I have a iphone 3G with iOS 4.2.1 (non jailbreak) which can hold a fully charge for a few days with airplane mode off.
I suspect it is the firmware iOS 5 and up that causing the speedy battery drainage. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks !

    An update on this.
I traced the battery issue on having PUSH enabled for my old Exchange account.
Note I still have another exchange account + yahoo + icloud  + gmail all with Push enabled, and the battery is perfectly fine now.
So the whole issue seems related to a recurrent synchronization problem. However it is hard to diagnosis this when the only entry on the log remains the 2s recurrent phone-global message:
Client[com.apple.persistentconnection[dataaccessd,54]] is telling PDP context 0 to goactive.
I agree one must hide technical complexities in the name of user friendliness, but adequate (deep) error reporting remains important ... at least for those users that the technical know how and will to dig deeper.

  • Sudden Battery drainages on two independent iPhones simultaneously

    Hello,
During the last few days I've experienced episodes of fast battery drainage on two different iPhone4.
The battery drainage that has started occuring (at different paces / periods of the day) is markedly more rapid than compared to normal "heavy usage".
E.g. a nearly fully charged phone suddenly is "dead" in the morning.
This has started occurring on two different iPhone4s.
Thus I interpret the reason to be IOS 5.0.1 (built in apps or settings, iCloud or something else) or some other apps that cause this to be happening now.
The latest IOS software, iCloud and Exhange accounts are running as usual, but this has never been a problem before.
So I guess that it might be some minor setting feature, e.g. reminders settings, or some other iCloud connectivity / data-worksessions, GPS activity (hidden) that could be causing background drainage.
    I don't know.
Any suggestions on how to figure out. And please do not suggest that exchange sevices with push, iCloud ON etc. should be turned off - it has worked fine without battery drainage till now.
    Kind regards,
    Martin

Theoretically, any app that uses "push" technology (more and more will with OS3) may be causing the problem. Try disabling all "push" apps and see if it helps. I referred to Exchange Email, only because toggling push on and off impacted the problem absolutely.
Did a restore to "new phone" fix the problem? If so, you can try what I did which is to load each app directly to phone and see if it causes the failure to charge and heat.

  • Hot battery an battery drainage

i have the 3gs just bought it in may with the update came a hot battery an battery drainage. i dont have anything running in the back ground an i rarely use it now i cannot by any means use it to its full potential like i used to before the update. the battery life is very an i mean very unpredictable. one day after unplugging it from a full charge it went dead in 10 min. an i didnt use it at all. then somedays it lasts 3 hours some 5 some 8 but i cannot use it like i used to. i used to play games when ever i wanted play music an games at same time text an surf the net. now i can only text an that is if the phone is a good day.

Apple provides free telephone support for the first 90 days after the purchase date. After the initial 90 days, AppleCare will request a credit card in case it turns out the problem does not require an exchange under warranty. If it is determined that your iPhone needs to be exchanged under warranty, you will not be charged for the call. Or you can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
What is a master reset? I've never heard that term before.
The standard troubleshooting steps in order are power your iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restoring with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after the last step, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • Sudden battery drainage!

I'd like to know the suggestions of all of you regarding my iphone4 sudden battery drainage. My replaced iphone4 seems like it's working fine.
But the problem always appears whenever my iphone4 battery turns around 23%-25%. Whenever I press the sleep/wake button when the battery is at around 23-25%,the battery indicator changes suddenly from 25% to 20% (23% to 19%). It's draining about 5% at a time.I have no idea about that problem. I did restore my phone but no changes happen. My old iphone4 had that kind of problem but the area that the sudden drainage occured is around 60 or 62%.
Does someone experience like my phone problem?
    Any suggestion to fix?
    Thanks for your time! =)

It is low based on your usage levels... At least you do have a later OS version.
Depending on how you upgraded, it may be that something went wrong during the upgrade, so it may be worthwhile to reload the OS. You can do that using the steps here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
When restoring your data, just to be safe, choose to do a selective restore and just pick the things you need (e.g. Address Book, Calendar, Messages, etc). Like this, you'll be sure that you aren't transfering a potential problem back to your BB.
Try that and then let me know how that goes.

  • Battery drainage n iPhone getting hot while using video

    Battery-Drainage-heating-up-video-use/Facetime

    Hi mukk25,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be concerning when the temperature of the iPhone is warmer than you would expect. Please review the attached article for information on operating temperatures.
Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures
When using the device or charging the battery, it is normal for it to get warm. The exterior of the device functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the device to the cooler air outside.

  • Very quick battery drain on mid 2013 macbook air please help!

hello, my 13" macbook air is losing battery very quickly and i don't know why or what to do...
i tried to reset the SMC and deleting all my cache files... i have closed all running applications and the battery save preferences are on default...
I'm running OS X Mavricks and when i first installed it i did get about 14 hours of battery life with normal use, but now i only get as high as 6 hours.
what can i do to get things back on track?
    thanks to anyone who helps!

    1. Check the cycle count of the battery against the limit for your model. The battery may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.
    2. Follow these instructions, or these for OS X 10.9 or later.
    3. In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck the box marked
Enable Power Nap while on battery power
    4. You can also try resetting the SMC.
    5. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.
    6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Quick battery charge and drain

    Hi,
I hope somebody will be able to help / explain this issue to me - I bought the z3c two days ago (haven't charged it for 30 min before first use, really don't know if this could be an issue), and I have noticed that unlike most people's charging time (which is about 2.5-3 hours) mine is around 1.5 hours on the micro usb charger (1% per 1 minute), and the battery drains quickly with a bit heavier usage. I upgraded it automatically to lollipop, and I did a factory reset afterwards when I noticed that the battery was draining quickly. Google location services have been disabled, I only keep the auto sync on from time to time.
Is there a possibility that something is wrong with the battery or am I just doing something wrong with the applications etc? Should I wait a couple of days to see how the battery behaves? (I'm sorry if this question has been repeated somewhere else already).

    Hi Nerie
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
You have taken some good steps so far to troubleshoot the problem. Have you tried putting the phone on Stamina mode and/or Low battery mode? These functions are designed to maximise the battery life. As well as turning off Google location services you can also turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & Mobile data when not using them. Also try turning the screen brightness down as I can see the Screen is using the most power. Turn off phone or put into Airplane mode when there is no network coverage in the area as the phone repeatedly scans for available networks - which consumes power.
Hope the above steps do help, keep us updated.

Now, based on this and the age of my machine (2-3 years old), I would say that I am probably at the end of my cycle count for the life of the battery, right?
I have read other posts about similar issues (battery at 100%, then very quickly down to 60-80%, then poof - shutdown). I also read about someone who "worked around this" by putting the computer to sleep while plugged in, unplugging the machine, and letting it sit for about 4 days. Fully recharging, and things seemed pretty good. Based on the info above, think it is worth a try?
    BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!
I have also been getting a buzzing/humming at start up, and sometimes while working. Took it to the Genius bar, they seemed to think it was one of the fans, so replaced that to the tune of $108. Sound eventually came back as battery performance became worse... related issue?

Your cycle count is over the limit. The remaining battery full charge/remaining capacity should reasonably be around 6000mAh. Get a new battery. zoz

  • Battery Drainage During Sleep

I saw a few posts on this issue but haven't seen anything in a while. My battery drains too quickly during sleep mode. Has apple addressed this yet. If not has anyone found a fix for it. It's really the only thing that has bugged me about this new laptop.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    No official fix for now.
You have to manage the sleep yourself! If it's a short sleep, just close the lid as usual and forget your 2% comsumption. If it's a long sleep (a hibernation), use something like deepsleep (http://deepsleep.free.fr/) and be patient during the wake up.
Yet a little effort and apple will be as worst as linux to manage power...
