I am trying to export one data base customer (billing/statement) from Windows to Pc to Powerbook. This one data base needed out the entire data base in Windows. I wuld apprecaite any input.

You won't be able to use AppleWorks on that computer. You will need to open your AW database files on an older computer that can run AW6 then export your database files to a standard text format such as CSV or tab-delimited.
You can then import those files into some other database program such as iData 3.1.18.
Quicken does not currently work with Lion but Intuit has announced they will issue a new version sometime this year. You can try using another application that can import Quicken's datafiles or export the data to format other applications can use. Or you can switch to Quicken Essentials that does work with Lion.

Lightroom data base files previews

I wish to be able to Remove these Lightroom 5 Data Base Preview Files that NOW show up in my libraries pictures( June 2014 ) daily folder and also the Root Thumbnail icon that is showing.
Please note all my other photos imputed from my picture library and SDHC memory card before June 2014 does NOT have these files and it seems every time I input a photo from my memory card I get another 2 icons saying this is LRPREV FILE (no image other than a box with text) with the modified date. shows up when I select my Pictures in Windows
CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO STOP THESE FILES BEING IMPUTED INTO LIGHTROOM 5.

Also I did try to delete these files in the Lightroom Folder in Windows but when I input new photos in Lightroom they KEEP coming back every time.

I feel like there may be something you're not telling us, which would explain how it came to be this way in the first place (yours is a very unusual problem).
I've heard confession is good for the soul. If you have a confession, now's the time..
For example: you have some kind of auto-import running. Or, you are storing your photos in the same folder as your catalog...
If you've got no such confession to offer, then please post a screenshot of your catalog folder (in Explorer/Finder) Windows did ya say? Mac?? Lightroom 5._? (fill in the blank)
Also, a screenshot of your folders pane in Lightroom.
And, a description of the import procedure you follow: what you do, what you see, what you click...
(+any other info that might aid trouble-shooting..).

Cleaning up data base files and old back-up files

I installed LR version 1 and reimported all new photos. I noticed that for some reason I have several folders of backup and libraries in my lightroom file folder some nested within others. I would like to remove the old files and keep only the latest ones. I am not sure I know how to identify the latest files to keep or delete. I then would like to back up latest files in another location. Any help would be appreciated.

 Lots of ways using a combo of LR and OS. Select an image and have it reveal where it lives. Note the location.
 
 Make a change in a file, export the metadata, and if a folder you are looking at doesn't have any recent changes, it isn't the one in LR.
 
 Another safeguard is to zip the file, instead of trashing it. That way if you later find LR is counting those images as part of its db, you can restore.

In Mail... how do I type text into a remote data base file

I am receiving e-mail from a hardware manufacturer, Linksys/Cisco asking for further comments from me regarding my service request. There is a window in their e-mail requesting text input from me... Using my mail program, provided as part of OS 10.8.4, I cannot for the life of me find a method by which I can enter data into their text window... Has anyone experienced this before, if so can you provide the insight this MAC Pro user needs? Thank you! Art

I have 20 tables in a database. I have entered huge data in those tables. Now my database schema has to be changed. So please tell me that how can I save my previous data of tables if a new fields are added to tables.
How can I export/import this data?

You need to do nothing special. Just execute:
ALTER TABLE <table> ADD(<field description>);
The field is added to the table and your 'old' data is still there. If you want that your new fields are not null, you must create them with a default value or create them as null allowed and fill them in yourself. Once they are all filled in you can change them to not null fields.

Exporting address book data

Hello, I was myself yesterday trying to export my Address Book into FileMakerPro which is a dataBase program. With no success. I've called Apple Assistance for 1h30 mn for nothing. Finaly somebody on the FileMaker Forum answer me. It is very simple : you have to download Address book exporter : http://www.gwenhiver.net/address-book-exporter.html (or go by google : address book exporter). And it is free. I've tryed it and he perfectly works with FileMaker Pro and I'm sure with Excel because it create a text file with tabulations.
It is so simple that it's magic ! It's a shame for apple that doesn't integrate such a easy tool. I decide that I will not use anymore the apple adress book because FMPro can also be used directly for sending mails. Happy new year - Josette9511 (excuse my english writting).

I think you can get Windows 7 for around $99. Install the 64bit version as the 32bit version will not be able to use all your new computer's ram if you have more than about 3.5gb.
Back up your quick books data now before the old hard drive dies. You can copy your data over to your new installation of Windows and quick books.

How do I Export Address Book data?

Is there anyway to insert Address Book data into other (non-Apple) applications, e.g. Word?
I want to send out some letters and I would like each letter to have the recipiants address at the top of the letter. Even if I could export the data to Excel first would be OK but I only seem to be able to export vCards from Address Book and Excel (nor Word) can read them?
Any help would be appreciated.

you can use some third-party applications to export Address Book data as plain text files (e.g., csv) which you should then be able to import without any problems in Excel and the like.

Hi bjgroup, and a warm welcome to the forums!
On the G4 in Address Book, click on one address, then Select All, then from the File menu choose Export vCard, move that file to the G5 & in AB's File menu, choose Import>vCard.

I know one way, it is not elegant but it does work.
1. Open Thunderbird. (download here: https://www.mozilla.org/EN/thunderbird/)
2. Click on Address Book.
3. On the left in the new window is a list of your Address books and groups. Select the one you want.
Your addresses will appear to the right.
4. In Thunderbird / Tools select Export, and Save as "Comma Separated".
You can open that list of addresses in Excel or in FileMaker Pro. Mail merge proceeds from there.
