Quick drop list doesn't come up anymore :( LV2009f2

My quick-drop list doesn't come up anymore when I press ctrl-space. When I initially press ctrl-space (after loading LabVIEW) my machine behaves like it is loading the drop list (LabVIEW lags, and my hard drive thrashes for about a minute), but no drop list appears. My computer is kinda slow and outdated (hense the long inital load times of the drop list) so that may be the issue. I'm running a 1.6GHz Centrino w/ 1.5GB of ram and Windows XP SP3.
I've tried rebooting. I was using the drop list quite a bit before it stopped working. I would like to avoid a full reinstall of LabVIEW over this.
Any advice?

Just grasping at straws but...
In the LV .INI file there is a line
"QuickDropPosition="
That apperas to save where the QD window waas when last used. Maybe yours is set for an off-screen position.

Quick Drop list won't update during search

My Quick Drop started acting up today. Normally, when I begin typing, the list under the search box will update to show all of the possible matches. This is no longer happening. It still tries to autocomplete the search field, but the list doesn't update. [screenshot attached]
I'm running LabVIEW 2009 SP1 on Windows XP 32-bit.
For what it's worth, LabVIEW crashed went on vacation early last Wednesday evening, just before I was
getting ready to leave for the weekend. When I returned to work this morning, Quick Drop was no
longer functioning properly. I don't know if these two events are
related, but I figured that it was a possibility.
I've tried rebooting my PC and renaming the LabVIEW.ini file and restarting LabVIEW with a fresh configuration, but no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the additional info. I don't think the window position issue is related to the search results updating issue. (Incidentally, there's a fix in LabVIEW 2010 for when there are bad window coordinates for the Quick Drop window stored in the INI file).
Anyway, I still think that NI-SEARCH is the culprit, but since you can't reliably repair your installation, we can't know for sure. So instead, I'd like you to try the following workaround:
1. Go in [LabVIEW 2009]\resource\dialog\QuickDrop and rename QuickDrop Launch Window.vi to be QuickDrop Launch Window.bak.
2. Save the attached QuickDrop Launch Window.vi below to [LabVIEW 2009]\resource\dialog\QuickDrop.
Now try Quick Drop and see if the results update properly. Basically, I modified the shipping version of the main Quick Drop UI to use the old LabVIEW 8.6-style of matching results instead of the NI-SEARCH mechanism. Let me know if this fixes the problem.

"Add image to iPhoto Library" in safari doesn't show up anymore!

Hey, I got a problem with my computer. Normally, When i right click an image, a tab window shows up with an option to "add image to iphoto". Now it doesn't come up anymore. Please tell me how to fix this!

Well given that we don't know what version of OS X you're on, what version of Safari you're using and it's the iPhoto forum and not the Safari one, the best I can suggest is that you try repair permissions with Disk Utility

Export the file using "Current Settings" and enable "self contained".
Once the export is complete, open up Compressor, drop in your file, select the desired output settings and turn Compressor loose. If you have set up a Quick Cluster and have a multi core Mac, Compressor will use all available cores. It will be a faster process.

I'd say your sister messed up and your iPod is toasted.
Think about it... She plugged it in to another computer, she doesn't remember what she did (yeah, right), and now your iPod is not being recognized by your computer...
Also take into consideration how old is your sister, and how much does she know about electronics?

Try restarting your router as a first thing, this sometimes works for me.

Volume doesn't come with video when dropped into timeline (CS3)

when I click the "insert" button in the Source window to drop a defined video segment into the timeline, all of a sudden the audio doesn't come with it. It was but now it doesn't. I was messing with the link/unlink for other clips in the timeline but I"m not sure how that relates to dropping segments in the timeline and why the audio doesn't come with it.

This was driving me nuts. I started a new sequence and it worked there. I went back to my original sequence and it still wouldn't drop in the audio yet I could copy and paste the audio AND video from the new sequence into the old. It turns out that somehow I was able to (not intentionally) make no audio track active in my first sequence and when I used the insert button it didn't bring the audio. But if I clicked on the source video and dragged it to the timeline both audio and video came to the timeline. Once I highlited the audio channel the little insert button worked.
This drove me nuts.

Shared reminder list doesn't show up

I have a separate iCloud ID for sharing reminders, calendars and such. I can successfully share them between my iPhone, iPad and laptop (Mountain Lion).
Today I was trying to share reminder lists with my friends Mark and Peter. We wanted to achieve that we could all see the list shared by Mark. This is what happened:
- I shared my TODO list with Mark and Peter. Success. They could both see the list and add items to it.
- Mark shared his TASK list with me and Peter: Peter can successfully see the list. I accept the invitation and when then I get a message 'already accepted, check the sidebar', but the TASK list doesn't show up
- Peter shared his MYTODO list with me: same thing, I can accept the invitation, I get a message 'already accepted, check the sidebar' but the list doesn't show up.
None of the shared lists show up in my iCloud.com or Reminders app on my iPad, iPhone or laptop.
Any ideas?

Right-click on the desired folder and choose Get Info from the contextual menu. In the info window that appears, toward the bottom is a section for Sharing & Permissions (click on the disclosure triangle if the section isn't open). You may also need to click on the lock (at the lower right corner) to unlock and authenticate in order to make changes.
The normal permissions for a user's Public folder is read only for staff and everyone (items can also be put in the Drop Box). The normal permissions for the /Users/Shared folder is read & write for everyone, although the appropriate permissions need to be set by the owner (or use something like Access Control List (ACL) entries) to allow people to modify items that are owned by others.

Let me guess, you're using windows NT 4.0 as your client.
I had the same problem a few months ago and raised the
question in this list.
My answer is as brief as it is unsatisfying:
It is a known bug for which there is no work around.
Forte 2 and NT 4.0 don't mix very well. Forte 3 works fine.
You think you found some logic behind the bug, but you
haven't. I just so happened it works this way for these
droplists in this window. Other droplists in other windows
will not follow this logic. Some won't even show the bug.
These are your choises:
Don't use NT 4.0
Switch to Forte 3
Don't use droplists
Use some tricks, like adding an empty row at the end
of the list.

p.s:- It doesn't matter how I set the viewable items. I tried both
setting them through the windows workshop as well as in the code
after
the self.Open() in the Display() method. The behavior is the same in
both cases.

LabVIEW 2011 quick drop ctrl-key shortcuts don't work

I've noticed that none of the Ctrl-Key shortcuts used in the Quick Drop menu work. For example, Ctrl-T doesn't move the terminal labels and Ctrl-R won't remove and rewire. Is there a hidden setting that I have missed?

I am just now encountering the same problem, only renaming the INI file didn't do the trick like above. As a matter of fact, the INI key "QuickDropKeyboardShortcutMappings" doesn't even exist in either the renamed (bak) or the newly created ini file.
Since I have grown to rely on the handy QD shortcuts this is starting to really annoy me...
I have checked that I can open all the files in the respective LV version (using 2011+2013 and sometimes got these mixed up with the newly saved shortcut VIs when distributing them to all the 4 LV-Quickdrop folders (x86 and x64)).
Funny thing is, the VI lists in the QD plugins folder and the DQ window, shortcut tab, greatly differ, see pictures attached. Any hints? Otherwise I am going to reinstall since a repair didn't help either. Tried that already as well.

Apple Menu: "Recent Items" doesn't work proper anymore

Hi,
i switched from 10.5.8 to 10.6.4 and recognized that the "recent items" in the Apple Menu doesn't work proper anymore.
While OS X is running everything works fine. When i restart the computer all recent items are cleared.
I want it to behave like it did in 10.5.8, that all recent items where displayed even after a restart.
I recognized that the "open recent" command in applications like TextEdit or Preview behave the same. While the Program is running everything works fine . If I close and restart the app, open recent is cleared.
I tried do adjust it under Appearance in the System Preferences, but if i set all Numbers of recent items to "none" for example and restart the computer it will be set for each (Application, Document, Server) back to 10 again.
Hope someone can tell me a solution because i use "open/ recent Items" alot and it really disturbes my workflow.

thanks..i checked the preferences for the com.apple.recentitems.plist and didn't find one.
It seems like the system doesn't write down which items i loaded. I trashed this .plist earlier because i
saw that hint somewhere else.
i did like you said and created a new user account, tested different apps and documents, restarded and everything was displayed proper in the "recent items" Appel menu and in the "open recent" of every App.
I searched in the test account for the com.apple.recentitems.plist, copied it to the preferences of my account and restarted the computer. In the "recent items" displayed the Items that i used with the test account but after several tests it is clear that the system doesn't write down the recent items when i open my account. The com.apple.recentitems.plist still showes only the items i used with the Test account and the info of the file says that it wasn't touched sinced i copied it from the test to my account.
The Terminal command didn't change anything. The question is why doesn't the system write down wich items and documents i used when i'm in my account?

Drop List-Visible/Invisible Drop List

Here is my senario.
I have a drop-down list with two items:ITEM_A,ITEM_B
Also I have two others Drop-down lists:ListItem_A,ListItem_B
The presence for these two drop list is invisible.
This that I like to achive is when a user select ITEM_A for example,Drop list(ListItem_A)to become visible or if they select ITEM_B for example,Drop list(ListItem_B)to become visible.

Dear Thomas, Thank you very much for your help, this problem works now. As you can tell, I have no idea of JavaScript. What do I have to add to the code for the following:
My drop Down List (DD0) has 3 options (Values 0,1,2) If I select 0 (which is the Default value), it should leave the 2 other DD-Lists (DD1 and DD2) invisible.
If I select 1, it should only show DD1 and if I select 2, it should only show DD2.
Here is the code that I entered under the change event of the first list (DD0), but it doesn't work:

Starts with 15fps and quickly drops to 1fps

I don't know what changed... it has been working fine for the past couple of years. For the past couple of months my video starts with 15fps and quickly drops to 1fps -- I still receive 15fps. . I have feeling it is either my cable provider or my Vonage strangling my bandwidth (both are the same since day one) maybe some settings were changed. When I do a speed test...up and down numbers are average or above for my cable provider.
Quicktime is set to 1.5...T1/Lan etc.
iChat bandwidth limit is set to none (tried all choices).

Most likely it it is a background process.
In addition to the culprits found when Tiger came out listed on that page also open up Activity Monitor and check how many Widgets are active (shutting them down is best).
Also check if a Print Monitor is listed as most likely this is Stuck and can be Force Quit from the button top left of Activity Monitor.
The other possibility is that SpotLight is Indexing.
