My Palm Quick Install will not work on my laptop which is Windows Vista. Any hints on how I can get it to work for my Tungsten E?

Hello smahanes and welcome to the Palm forums.
You will have to upgrade to Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows. The version of the install tool with that edition of Palm Desktop should work with Vista.

Palm Quick Install in Windows 7

OK I have posted that you can use the Palm desktop 4 versions on windows 7 and they work. They do but the only way to load a file was to right click on it and chose send to / Palm Powered (TM) Handheld. I decided to see if I could make everything work normally. I managed to accomplish it. I did not need to hack the registry either. The first problem was getting the Palm Quick Install icon to show up on the desktop and then open up the program. When I loaded the TX software on two other computers it did not load with the Palm Desktop and DTG icons.
1: I went to start/all programs/palm folder/ and right clicked on the Palm Quick Install and sent it to the desktop. It went there but would not open on one of the computers. I tried a couple of times. I then right clicked on the icon and choose Restore Previous Versions. I chose the compatibility tab and selected the help me choose the settings. I did this several times and also rebooted the computer and unchecked the open with administrator in properties. I was finally rewarded with the Palm Quick install opening up when I clicked on it.
2. Clicking on a palm file or dragging it into the Palm Quick install application had no effect. A warning came up stating (There was a problem sending the command to the program.) I plugged this into Google and came up with several sites. There is in Vista and 7 a file association of some sort missing. I was reading on how to hack into the registry and really did not want to waste any more time on it. I was about to give up when I decided to attempt a Microsoft solution. They have all kinds of fixit registry programs for all kinds of tasks. I typed in Microsoft file type fixit in Google. They have a little program that scans your system and then gives you several choices to select. I selected them all when the choice came up. When it finished I exited out of the web page and clicked on a palm file. It worked. I deleted the file and attempted to drag it into the Palm Quick Install this also worked. File and Folder fixit

AFAIK, there is no such version - 6.2.2 is the latest Access made before ceasing support for the program.
MicroSoft has had a typo on their support site for a long time now. Is this the version number you are referring to?

Many Problems, Latest is Quick Install

I hope that someone can advise me. I have a Zire 72 which I was not having any trouble with. I upgraded to a Palm Centro Smartphone and after a week of using it; decided that it was too small and I returned it. My problems started there.
The calendar stopped syncing. I could edit the desktop and I could edit the handheld. But it just got stuck at backing up the calendar; once I even left it overnight thinking it would finish. No luck after 13 hours.
We deleted the desktop software and what we thought was every trace of the Palm from our computer. Then went to Palm.com and downloaded the most recent desktop software for the Zire 72. It uploaded fine, but put everything back on the desktop that was there before I hotsync-ed it (which I thought was pretty unusual.) Hit the hot sync button and uploaded everything, but the calendar would still not sync. Now I am getting fatal errors on my handheld about lines not being there and the whole thing had to be reset by a warm reset. We decided to load the software from the CD so we deleted everything and started over. Same results. Ok, now I took my CD and put it on my work computer as it has never had Palm software on it. Same results. Calendar would not sync. Came home, moved everything to the SD card and did a hard reset.
Hot sync-ed the handheld asking the desktop to overwrite the now naked handheld. That worked great. Everything is here. Everything on handheld works. Even sync-ed it again after adding new items to the calendar; works great. BUT....
Now I cannot do anything on my computer. This is so nuts. I try to right click on a picture to move it to the Quick install and an error box pops up behind the picture I am clicking on and tries to prepares to install the palm desktop and does something with the registry. then nothing happens. You can't send the picture anywhere. If I try to drag icon A into Folder B on my computer's desktop, the same thing happens. If I click on the Quick Install icon, it flashes of and on almost faster than you can blink several times and then tells me it is busy and to reboot the computer and try again. (which we have done.) If I can get the computer to let me "send" my picture to the Quick Install feature, I see this error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! abnormal program termination
I've had this palm for more than 4 years with relatively few problems. We've had this computer for three years or more and have not had any compatibility problems between the two things until we brought that Palm Centro into the mix. Please help a very frustrated woman. Forgive this, but in order to help you I need to know the current version of Palm Desktop and OS of you PC. Vista or XP.
The version of Palm Desktop that is on the CD does not have a quick install. But has an install tool. But to get everything fixed and working correctly I would like to know the above info please.

Windows Vista Ultimate Quick Install for Tungsten E2

Well, I have a Tungsten E2, which I use commenly, but not often. I just got a my dad's old computer for Christmas (which is a huge upgrade from mine, which was made in the 1990's I think), and he got me Windows Vista Ultimate for it. I can do everything with it; Palm Desktop, Hotsync, etc. except for using Palm Quick Install. I really don't feel like posting a picture, so I will just describe it. First I have to allow it to run, and then it checks Microsoft for a solution to use it. After that it says "palmOne Quick Install has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I have noticed around the site that many people are having problems with Vista, but I haven't seen any with this particular problem.

I am having this problem as well. I can launch Palm Desk top ver. 6.2.2 but Install and Quick Install are not working. Does anyone know a solution?

WebOS quick install messing up Outlook 2010

I tried to install the WebOS Quick Install from the instructions posted.
First of all, the instructions do not quite reflect reality. Some setup options were in different places and the software has been moved.
Once installed I was unable to install any Apps on my Pre. The USB transfer failed with some message that I neglected to write down. Something about a bad block or a full memory. Thats one issue but it is not what this post is about.
I did this at work and my PC suddenly stopped displaying images in Outlook 2010 after going though the installation. Instead it would show a little red X. I didn't make the connection to WebOS Quick Install until I tried installing it on my home PC. Now its Outlook 2010 won't display pictures either. I've un-installed Java and Novacom but Outlook is still messed up.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

Quick install of RDS "unable to create the session collection"

Simple as new virtual server, not touched. Had this happen in the past as well. When I attempt to run the Quick Install of RDS I get "unable to create the session collection" on the Session Collection stage. Then when I go to add roles or features
the "session-based desktop deployment" option is greyed out.
Clearly this is broken, and has been for a long time.
Why in FUCK hasn't this been fixed?
Why in FUCK are Microsoft talking Windows 10 and new Server version when shit like this isn't fixed?

Sorry to hear about your hatred regarding the product. But the error which you are facing suggest that you can’t create the session collection, this generally happens when something went wrong during installation of RDSH role. You can try to remove the role
using server manager and then perform reboot of server. And after that again use server manager to add the role again.
Please follow the test lab guide to install from the scratch, you'd better not install the RDSH on the DC.

Palm Desktop Quick install will not start and has no solution

When starting quick install, i get informed that 'an unidentified programme wants to access my PC' its the quick install .exe , however when i grant the programme safe i get informed that palm desktop quick install has stopped working and i will be notified if there is a solution.... which inevitably there is not! Any idea's?

These warnings sound like the Vista's UAC kicking in. If this is the case, you should know that Quick Install does not work in Vista.
The downloadable Desktop 6.2.2 for Vista has a replacement to Quick Install that does work - but the Desktop itself is truly terrible and loses many other functions (Expense, NotePad, VersaMail, colour-coded events, Birthdays and Anniversaries) that you may have come to expect from your Desktop.
If your current Desktop is otherwise working as expected, you should know that an alternative to Quick Install already exists on your machine and this does work on Vista. The easiest way to access it is to right-click the program you wish to install, then > Send to... > Palm Powered Handheld. This is a shortcut to the program instapp in the Palm folder.
An installation window will pop up (a UAC confirmation *may* pop up and can be dismissed) showing the chosen program ready for Hotsync. At this point you may also Add other programs/files. Hotsync when ready.
A further alternative that I understand works with Vista is the freeware Pilot Install ( http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/simplyinstall-pilotinstall.shtml ) and which bypasses Palm's software entirely.

Microsoft broke the connection with Quick Install when Vista debuted. You will need to download Palm Desktop 6.2.
Please read the sticky post in the Windows HotSync board about "Instructions for Vista and Win7 sync..."

I successfully configure clusterware for 2 node rac db. But when i try to install Oracle DB Software i am getting below error on 4 step .

Actually whenever i ask a question on OTN and Sybrand replied over the same every time instead of giving solution or advice he always try to insult other. I know that he is very senior to me and i am here posting query not to waste important time of anyone but to get the solution. Yes i forgot to update the i goggled and applied the recommendation before posting my query here. But this is not the correct way to advice anyone. Infact he also cross out this level where i am. If you think i hurt sentiments of anyone i feel sorry for that. But this is not the right way to advice in fact you all are seniors and we are coming here to learn from you guy's. OTN is not private property of anyone.
One thing more to say like you advice me calmly it's better to understand me how to do things accordingly now i will do that. Thanks again for your help and i will take care of all these things in future.
Actually the problem mentioned above i faced first time and after google i didn't get any blog or site with the same mentioned error instead it will give me link mentioned below:-

I tried one of the blog that states that similar problem occurs when clusterware is not up. First i check whether clusterware is up or not i found that it is up. But still i restarted it and try the installation again but getting the similar problem again.
In one blog it is mentioned that due to listener misconfiguration the problem occurs. I crosschecked listeners are configured from grid home.
So applied both the sol which i get by typing the same error which i mentioned above but not successful to get the solution.
In some website it is suggested that try to contact Oracle Support for the same.
Ok the problem is sorted out,I do a fresh installation of OS, Clusterware and DB, now i am not facing the same problem. I think the problem is related to group permission. Now this time i mention all the details what i do and what is the result i think now its better to understand.

Palm One Quick Install has stopped working

I just got a Tungsten E2, it was working okay until I tried to install an app - I keep getting the message "Palm One Quick Install has stopped working". I can't even open the program on my computer. I was able to upload pictures using hotsync, but it wouldn't let me add the app to Documents to Go.   Should I just delete the program and reinstall? This is all new to me and I would appreciate any help!! Thanks!

What OS is on your computer, and which version of Palm Desktop are you using?
I'm not quite understanding what you're attempting to do... You want to "add the app to Documents to Go"?
Are you trying to sync an Office file?
Is the program you're trying to add PalmOS files? Are they still in .zip form or .exe? If so, you need to unpack or run the .exe on your computer first.

Where can I find the quick install package for EBS extensions for Endeca?

I want to install EBS extension for Oracle Endeca 12.1.3.4.
Where can I find the quick install package in the edelivery.oracle.com site? Which Product Pack should I select in the site?

If you're getting a "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7" message, than you have the updater and not the full installer. Go to your Purchases section of the Mac App Store and you should see the full version there. But it may be 10.7.5, though in my system is shows as being from 2011 which would appear to be the original version.
As to Mountain Lion, that's supported only on the Early 2008 Mac Pro or newer.

Quick Install Teminates after file selection

Running Version 6.2 of Software for a Palm T|X
It brings up version 1.1.2 of Palm Quick Install.
When I find files I want to install to the Palm, the software teminates with a "Runtime Error" Abnormal termination message and closes.
I recently updated to Office 2007 and the earlier Hotsync software would hang when trying to synchronize, so I went out to Palm to get the latest software. Now the sync occurs fine, but I can't install.
Ideas?

Can I get quick install to hot sync pinball game directly to device instead of expansion card?

Yes, very easy to do! In Quick Install, you are presented with two windows - the upper one is for tranferral to the Device, the bottom for the card.
I'm hazarding a guess here that the game you are trying to install is refusing to go to the device, correct? If so, you may be trying to install a game for another OS, or the download is a compressed file (.zip or .exe). Compressed files have to be unpacked on your computer first to get the Palm OS files (.prc or .pdb).
Once the files have been extracted from the zip, you can then double-click on them to send them to Quick Install.

Zire 71 Palm Quick Install Hotsync and vista

Hi guys,
I just got a new dell with vista over the wkend and when i install my palm into my laptop everything works fine....except for the Palm quick install. When i clicked on the icon...it'd say "warning...other programs might try to gain permission...and then when i clicked install anyway..that the quick install module has stopped working and window will notify you once a solution is found????? My palm works perfectly fine with my desktop (runs on window XP). Please help me. thank you so much

Thanks much for the info on Vista Quick Installer. I just downloaded it from BT SOLVED but it won't let me even test it unless I pay for it. I just got a new PC with Vista on it and have a Zire 71. How can I be sure it will work before I purchase it? Has anyone tried this yet?
