Quick keyboard shortcut to show Overprint Preview

The old Command+Shift+7 to toggle Overprint Preview doesn't seem to work in Acrobat Pro 9. Is there another way of quickly toggling this function without having to enter Advanced>Print Production>Output Preview?

Wow, guess I need to reinstall Acrobat 8 because it makes for a faster production tool. I thought I was upgrading. Guess I'll never see the logic or reason in the things Adobe does when producing new versions.

  • Keyboard Shortcuts? Show Desktop?

Is there a possible keyboard shortcut to "show desktop"? I can't seem to find one on the macbook...

you can program 'hot corners' on assign a particular key to do that. here are the steps for each
Hot Corners: You can go into one corner of the screen and the computer will perform the assigned action. 1. go into System Prefs 2. Click 'Exposé and Spaces' 3. Click the scroll menu of the corner you want to activate and scroll down to 'Desktop' 4. Go all the way into that particular corner and the desktop should appear. Go back into the corner to show all your windows again.
Assigning a Key: 1. On the same pane as Hot Corners, click the scroll menu next to "Show Desktop" and click the key you want to assign to show the desktop when pressed. Make sure that this key has no other function, such as volume or brightness.
I know that's a lot of info, but it's worth writing it

  • How can I get the Voiceover Keyboard shortcuts to show up in a form in which I can copy

I have low vision & have been trying to learn to use Voiceover on both my iPhone & my Mac mini for months. Very frustrating.
    1. How can I get the Voiceover keyboard shortcut commans to show up in a form in which I can copy & paste them into a pages document so I can print it out & use for quick reference?? The one that shows up when I press VO +HH won't let me copy & paste it, & it won't show up in the Help section no matter what subject I enter. The help topics shown do not correlate with the topics I'm entering. why is that??
    2. Please make the cursor able to be wider, like in the software program Zoomtext, that I used when I had a PC. The razor-thin cursor (in this text box!) in Pages is impossible for me to see.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

You should be able to copy them from there.

  • Keyboard Shortcuts In Mail Without Preview Pane

Greetings, I like using any mail client (Mac or Windows or Linux) without the preview pane being open. This means the email in the Inbox is shown in list form, and opening an email means double clicking it to view it in a new window. However, on Mac there seems to be no keyboard shortcut to move to the previous or next email, which means I have to close the email, then double click the next email and becomes somewhat tedious.
If the preview pane is open the up and down arrows (or the three finger swipe) moves to the previous or next message, but this doesn't work if the email is open in a new window.
Does anyone know a keyboard shortcut that will work when an email is open in a new window?
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah just want to agree that this is big flaw in Mac Mail.  Reading mail in preview pane is flawed to me for two reasons... one is that if you single click a message in your list (let's say to file it or flag it), it instantly gets marked as unread.  A lot of times this is NOT my intention.  So i accidentally mark stuff I haven't read thoroughly as unread.  Even more dramatic is that if you are clicked on a message in your message list (in the inbox, for example) and you press the delete key, it deletes the message (as it should) and then instantly highlights the previous message in your inbox... thus marking it READ!  ugh.. certainly not my intention, and caused me to mistakenly think messages were read (when they weren't) so often, I switched to having messages open in their own window.  I actually really have come to like this... i keep the mailboxes and message list in one monitor and then open the individual mail message mostly full screen in a 2nd monitor.  But now that leaves me without the ability to quickly go to a previous or next message from that individual mail message.  WHY???  As others have mentioned... just about every other mail client (including MAIL on iPhone!!) has buttons in the toolbar of the message window for NEXT or PREVIOUS message!!

  • Keyboard shortcut to show content on extended monitor

I am using dual monitors and would like to know if there is a keyboard shortcut that would quickly move the active content on one monitor to the extended or alternate monitor.  Is this possible?

you can select the link button on the instruments header next to View...
with this selected every track you select will display the software inst (or plug-in if you have open it before and it will display only plug-ins on that slot (eg.slot 1)) assigned to it...disable it if you'd like to compare 2 different plug-ins etc
else you can press the V key when you have an instrument displayed and you would like for example to edit in the arrange ..by pressing V you hide it and bring it back into view..instead of moving it around/close it to edit...

  • PDF showing overprint preview

Is there a way to output a PDF that looks like Aunt Illie's Overprint Preview?

    Oh ok, thanks.
Ah yes, I meant to comment on that - I tried it and it seemed to do nothing. Though, I don't understand Flatten Transparency at all. I've read about it, but have never worked with it.
    Here's my attempt:
Afterward, it all looked and seemed to be unchanged.
Another screenshot for ya (with no Flatten Trans done) - The pink swooshy shapes are screens of a PMS, set to overprint. Here you can see my setup with one selected, along with my workspace panels mess (yes, that's a little extra Hieronymous B. wallpaper action for the fine art lovers in tha hizzouse):

  • What is the safari keyboard shortcut for "show/hide address bar"?

I have been unable to identify the second of the two keys for the "show/hide address bar" shortcut in Safari.
It shows the command key and then a verticle line which I can not find on my keyboard. I tried i, l, and
1, but its none of those.
That would be a handy shortcut for me, but it seems to use a key I don't have!

It's ShiftCommand\ in U.S. and Canadian English. If you look at the backslash key in those layouts, there's a vertical bar above it.

  • Option-Letter Combinations Won't Work in Keyboard Shortcuts

In order to set what my hands and my Avant Stellar programmable keyboard are used to, I need to change the edit keystroke combinations from Command-X (Cut), Command-C (Copy), etc., to Option-X, Option-C, etc.
But I can't get Keyboard Shortcuts to work with Option-letter combinations. The proper combination shows up in the Keyboard Shortcuts screen and even in the Pages menu, but the keystroke combinations don't work. Instead of the requested menu action, I get what looks like an "approximately equals" sign (for Option-X), a letter from a foreign alphabet (for Option-C) or the beginning of a square root sign (for Option-V).
The Keyboard Shortcuts screen shows no warning of a conflict, and none of the default Keyboard Shortcuts seems to use these precise keystroke combinations.
Does Keyboard Shortcuts not support Option-letter combinations? I've got it to work with several other keystroke combinations, so I don't think I'm missing anything basic. But I can't find anything in Apple Help, this Website or on Google saying that Option-letter combinations are verboten.
I was trying to set up Keyboard Shortcuts in a restricted account, which I use for daily work for security reasons, but I also tried the same things in an administrative account and got the same results. It shouldn't make any difference, should it? I also tried both left and right Alt keys (the equivalent of Option on my keyboard), with no difference.
    Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks for the quick reply. On second thought, I don't think Ukelele will do what I want.
The problem is not switching or reprogramming keys. My present keyboard (an Avant Stellar) is fully programmable. It can even double the same output on two or more keys.
My problem is Apple's keyboard shortcuts. The right and left word navigation and selection functions, which I use thousands of times a day for navigating text, are welded to the Option key. So are Apple's (inflexible) special character keys. So if I program my keyboard to put the much-used navigation/selection functions under the same keystroke combinations I've been using for twenty years, many of my other usual keystroke combos become useless (they give me unwanted characters).
There is a solution, however: OpenOffice. I recently discovered that the slightly dumbed-down version that comes with Ubuntu Linux Netbook (which I installed on my Acer Aspire One) has a much more flexible keyboard shortcut feature than OS X, plus a macro capability. In less than an hour, I had my Acer keyboard configured closely enough to my habitual board for normal use. I then downloaded OpenOffice 3.1.1 on my Mini, and in another twenty minutes had both its and the Acer's keyboards configured as identically as the Acer's hardware permits.
So OpenOffice, not Apple, may have saved me the ignominy (and frustration) of continuing to use M/S Word, which I've wanted to jettison ever since I switched to Macs in 2003 and had to abandon WordPerfect.
Oracle, which just acquired Sun, swears on its Website that it will continue supporting OpenOffice (which Sun developed to poke M/S). Time will tell. Meanwhile, I've got OpenOffice, Pages and Word running in my working account, and I suspect I'll be using Open Office from now on for most serious writing. I like Apple's intuitive presentation of formulas in Numbers (its spreadsheet program), but Pages is for multimedia, multitasking Millennials, not serious writers.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for zooming out my parents' computer's desktop

I did not witness what happened, but apparently my brother ctrl+scrolled up(and zoomed all the way in) and my mother has been trying to figure out how to zoom it out. We have a Mighty Mouse, but it can not scroll down for some strange reason(It's broken). We somehow got it to zoom all the way out, but we have no clue how we did it. Is there a quick keyboard shortcut to zoom the screen out all the way in case it happens again(or in case I make some video that requires me to zoom in and focus on XCode and I later want to zoom out, seeing as my mother fixed her preferences to not allow it to zoom in)? If so, what is it? Is there also a keyboard shortcut to zoom in, in case we turn scrolling off altogether?

In the System Preference> Universal Access> panel, you can reverse the
results of an accidental setting found through a random keyboard command.
    • Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343
Or, just keyboard: *The use of Option-Command-8 is said to Turn On/Off Zoom*.
Using a standard USB mouse, be it an old one-button Apple USB or a newer
two-button PC mouse (no drivers should be needed) you could get past the
immediate issue of the Mighty Mouse's scroll button problem.
The Mighty Mouse probably has dust & debris inside the roller-ball assembly.
There have been some instructions (on how to open/clean & reseal it) online.
If you attempt to do this, be sure you have a working alternative mouse first.
*Cleaning Mighty Mouse* involves some skill, dexterity, tools, glue, tedium & time:

  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Can't Create

I created an automator service and want to assign it a keyboard short cut. When I go to the keyboard menu and "double click" (as instructed) to chnage the short cut it just beeps at me. It will not add my shortcut. I have tried all sorts of key combinations but nothing works.
    What am I missing?

You have to double-click to the right of the service name, i.e. where the keyboard shortcut would show up if it had one, not on the name itself.

  • Turn on and of Bluetooth using a keyboard shortcut

I recently purchased a new MacPro with new Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.... but the signal is interfering with a video signal bounce unit I have for me living room and kitchen TV. It's annoying turning off Bluetooth and then having to get a wired mouse to get it back on... is there a quick keyboard shortcut that exists or that I could create that would achieve the same effect.
    Any suggestions most welcome.

Hi Taylor... and thanks for your reply.
That would be all well and good if I knew how to run an Applescript... I'm over 23 years a MacUser and I couldn't for the life of me know how to do an AppleScript.... is there any easy tutorials about... ? But your idea sounds like the solution for sure.... just a quick keyboard combo would sort the issue and I could get to keep my new Magic Mouse & Trackpad... otherwise I will have to revert back to the Mighty Mouse... as the TV in my household is more important than some wireless gizmo...
    Talk soon....
