What is your Product Number? Maybe someone can look to see if there are the right drivers for it that works in Windows 7. Otherwise if there isn't any Vista drivers for the matching O/S will also work.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

  • Quick Play and volume slider

    I have a new dv51235dx laptop.  When I try to use the volume slider, the volume bar does not display on the screen like it's supposed to.  Also, when I push the Quick Play button absolutely nothing happens.  I've uninstalled and reinstaled drivers for the audio and for Media Smart but that didn't help  Any idea how to solve these two problems.  Since they are both keyboard functions they might be related, but I don't know for sure.  For what it's worth, the phone reps from HP don't know how to fix either problem.

    If/when the iPod is totally dry:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a hardware problem caused by the water.

  • Satellite P300 - Quick launch buttons don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

    I upgraded my Satellite P300 from Vista to Windows 7 professional. Initially everything worked fine, now for some reason the inbuilt microphone and the speakers do not work. I subsequently found that none of my 'Quick Start' buttons work, ie I cannot turn them ON or OFF, so perhaps the quick start Mute button is OFF, hence no sound. A computer check of the Microphone and the Speakers confirm that they are working so I guess the Mute button is On, no sound.
    Is there any way I can get the Quick Start buttons to work again or turn the mute button OFF so that I can get sound. The funny thing is the speakers work if I use Skype, but I cannot play a CD.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Dr Lamp
    Thank you for your reply. After upgrading from Vista to windows 7 from the disc everything worked fine, a month later for some reason the sound just stopped. When I play a CD or select music from the computer and double click on the speaker icon I can see the music playing but there is no sound, it is muted, but why I do not know.
    It is interesting that you Added Vista stuff because when I had Vista everything worked fine, I just didn't like it much. As I am a novice how did you add it. If I add something, does it run alongside Windows 7 or does it replace some bits. The reason I ask is that in Windows 7 the courser jumps around in Word making writing letters difficult, I have to disable the pointer when writing which is a pain.
    Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks for your help

  • Faulty Quick Launch Buttons on my Pavilion dv9854ca notebook...

    I recently had to reformat my laptop after the hard disk failed to boot properly, and I had to reinstall Windows, and all the drivers and software I used before.  I installed the HP Quick Launch Buttons driver, and so far all of them (Play/Pause, Stop, Volume etc...I didn't install Quickplay because I don't need it) have been working properly except for the "mute" button, something I just noticed.  Every time I tap it, it will toggle to the other setting for a millisecond then switch back to what it was before, i.e. if there is sound, and I want to mute sound, I tap the button, and it will flash orange (signalling mute) for a brief moment before going back to blue (signalling sound), and vice versa.  Before I reformatted, if I wanted to mute or unmute, I tapped it and it would toggle to the other setting without switching back.
    Has anyone ever experienced this problem or know how to deal with it? It's nothing major but is a bit of a pain to have to click the windows volume settings...
    Thanks!

    You need to install sound driver to fix the mute issue.

  • Function of the PLAY button versus the ENTER button

    Hello gang,
    I had a quick DVD / DVDSP related question that I've been trying to get a definitive answer for, and I've had great luck and some very helpful responses over in the Final Cut forum so I figured I'd give it a shot.
    Anyways, I'm editing some video and authoring a DVD for a group who intend to make an instructional DVD. It's divided into about five chapters and each one begins with some sort of voiceover and text/graphics. In the opening segment of the DVD, there is a voiceover that explains the way to navigate through the DVD and select chapters, etc. etc. The voiceover has already been written and recorded, but I have some concerns about the power they have designated for the "Play" button. Here is an excerpt:
    "We use the PLAY button in a couple of ways: to select and play an item that is currently highlighted in a list of items on the screen..."
    and also:
    "Almost all DVD remotes have a set of buttons that are arranged like a set of arrows (or triangles) pointing to the top, bottom, right and left of the remote control. These keys are used to move the selection pointer on menus presented on the screen. When an item is selected, it is highlighted to distinguish it from the other items in the list that are not selected. Once you have moved the selection point to the item you want, push the PLAY button to actually select and begin playback on that item."
    Now here is my concern– I was under the impression that the "Enter" button was typically used to select menu items, etc. I decided to test this on some commercial DVDs I had lying around, and it seems that the Play button does in fact work to select items. I had always assumed it was assigned just one specific role, for example playing the main title on a DVD.
    I looked it up in the DVDSP manual and this is all I found:
    "A button is selected when the viewer navigates to
    it. Only one button at a time can be in the selected state. The selected button becomes
    activated when the viewer presses the remote control’s Enter button. Depending on the
    button type, highlights or layers are used to indicate each button’s state."
    I couldn't find anything regarding the function of the Play button. I suppose my question is this: do these instructions sound okay? Are they universal? Can the Play button be used to select menu items on EVERY DVD player? I am only really stressing about this because this DVD is being targeted towards senior citizens, many of whom have extremely limited knowledge of DVD technology. I'd like to come up with the most universal, simple, and solid instructions for navigation through the DVD.
    Okay, thank you in advance. I appreciate any comments or advice you might be able to offer.

    Ah yes, Jake, but which UOP? Surely, you've seen me address this issue of there not being a Play UOP before?
    The project can be set up for Play to be Enter on a very high percentage of players, but it would be good with Christopher’s project to get the announcer to add "and Enter".
    The way it works is make sure that the "Still Off" user Op in DVD Studio Pro's Advanced Playback Controls is unchecked. DVD SP started making this default UOP denial in recent versions, which will mess up the Play remote key on a lot of players, including the Apple DVD player.
    And it would be good to take notes here Jake, since you do some Scenarist authoring. This Play remote key could bite you big time, if you're not careful (I've rescued two good authors who had trouble with what I'm about to describe; luckily, we caught it before it was submitted for replication).
    Still Off, which is what a lot of DVD player manufacturers map their play remote key if they don't directly map it to "Enter", when the DVD player is in infinite pause mode, i.e., the state a cell/program is in when displaying a still menu, causes the menu PGC to execute it's post command area (leave the PGCs still phase).
    A check of DVD SP's abstraction layer will show that navigation out of the post command area of all DVD SP's menu PGCs is determined by the current value of SPRM 8, the last selected/activated button. All of DVD SP's menu domain buttons are "LinkTail PGC" commands, so the effect of Operating Play is identical to activating a button with Enter, in the case of Still Off being the trigger.
    This can be verified by setting a button command in AfterEdit to jump somewhere directly which is different location than it was set in DVD SP. With the Still Off user op enabled, hit Play on the selected button and find that the original command in DVD SP will execute. But hit enter on the same button, and navigation will go to your test location. This is how it works on many players (you can check it out right in the Apple player).
    So it's good for spec based authors to use LinkTail PGC, which most do, on their menu button commands for still menus (in single PGCs), just in case users use Play instead of Enter in those players; or navigation can get pretty wacky! Or, if you don’t use LinkTail for the menus’ button commands, then it would be good to at least provide for code in the PGCs post command area to receive navigation in this case. But LinkTail has lots of other advantages, which is why it's used so much.
    With motion menus, Most players map the play remote key to "Enter", well, except the Apple DVD player. It turns the Play remote key to a Pause key during motion, so Christopher’s viewers would definitely be out of luck there.
    All that said, the play remote key should not be depended on as the primary for bullet-proof navigation, as you said.
    Take care,
    Trai

  • Lots of videos, or all in one, & Need for a Play button?

    I am shooting about 11 separate videos over the next 12 months, each on a single local subject such as a village fair, hay-making, the Fire Service etc. Each will be from 3 to 15 minutes long. These subjects will be grouped into: events, festivals, work, etc. The first-play menu will have an "Intro" and a "Contents" button. The Contents button is connected to a Contents Menu (second level) which will have a button for each of the above groups. Each of those group buttons will be connected to its own third-level menu which will have buttons connected to play the beginning of each of the subject videos in the relevant group.
    The videos are separate simply for ease of shooting, capturing and editing as I complete all three activities soon after the event etc. has finished.
    1. What would be best practice: keep the videos separate, one per track, its beginning connected to its button on the third-level menu, or join all the videos together and connect the third-level buttons to chapter marks in the single video where each of the original separate videos startd? (Stories seem to be used to allow the author to select which parts of a given video will be played when and to not allow playing other parts, but all my edited video material will be played.)
    Also:
    I think that it is usual practice to include a Play button in the first-play menu. This seems to be to allow the user to play a whole cinema film from beginning to end. However, in my project, no user is likely to want to do that. My project is more like a training manual where the user would choose which part of a car he wanted to fix and go directly to it. So:
    2. Is there any reason why I should include a Play button on the first-play menu?
    Thanks.

    For best playback performance, if the videos under each subset are on the same track they can navigate to the 3rd level menu quicker if you use VTS view to put the 3rd level menu for the section (i.e., events) with all the video for the tracks and you can use stories

    Play All
    sounds like it is a no, the answer lies in your question - will a user want to play all (which seems to be a no) Becomes a creative issue to a degree, do you think not having a play all detracts from your project (regardless of whether it "should" be there and/or having it makes no sense in your judgement.

  • Free Yourself from the Play Button!

    Hi all!
    One of the annoying things I've found with Breeze is having
    to repeatedly click the "play" button as I advance through a large
    presentation. After a while, your mouse pointer can easily drift
    off that little button. Here's a quick workaround which allows you
    to click anywhere in your presentation and get the same effect:
    Make a blank Flash module and add this code to frame one:
    _root.m_contentView.onRelease = function () {
    _root.m_controlBar.m_playBtn.onRelease();
    ...that's it! Now, just stick the *.swf module on the first
    slide of your PPT presentation, and compile it to Breeze. Click
    anywhere on the "stage" to get the same effect as clicking the play
    button (your control bar and side bar will work as usual). There is
    a downside to this, though: it overrides any interactive items
    (buttons, Flash modules, quiz questions, etc.) you may already have
    in your presentation.
    Cheers!
    ~Marc B

    Only if the last button the user clicked on WAS the
    play/pause button. Many of our users, familiar with the PPT
    interface, have indicated that they would like the ability to click
    anywhere to advance. They'd also like to right-click to move
    backward one animation (also like PPT), but that requires a bit
    more coding.
    You have fun, too!

  • Re-installing quick launch button functionality on DV8T

    Is there a particular set of installs which recovers all of the functionality of the HP Quick Launch buttons?
    Here's the deal:
    On a Pavilion DV8T-1000 CTO laptop, I've added a second hard drive, an SSD, which is in the primary bay.  The original drive is in the secondary bay.  Since the HP recovery media would not recover to the new SSD (slightly smaller than the original drive, so the recovery software gets pissy about it), I installed Win7 Pro from scratch, and loaded all the current drivers from the support page for this particular model laptop.
    Most of the system functionality was returned, but I found that the quick launch buttons weren't behaving as I expected.  The wireless indicator didn't show blue (at all) when wifi is on, but did turn orange when it is off.  The mute button was always white, even when the computer is muted.  The volume didn't show the on-screen volume display.  The tone control would only show a goofed-up version of the on-screen display (bar area with random vertical lines which moved when I used the tone control slider).  The DVD eject button didn't work, and neither did the DVD play buttons.
    Now note: I did do a quick launch button firmware update during this whole  upgrade process.  At first, I thought that might be the problem.  Then I put the original drive back as the boot drive, and found that most of the original functionality was still there (except for the wifi light still isn't turning blue when wifi is on... is only off).
    I put the SSD back as the boot drive again, and started looking for things I might have missed.  I had the tone control software installed, and the quick launch button driver software.  Apparently that wasn't enough.  I found the SmartMenu software and installed it, and then I had the on-screen display working for mute, volume, and tone control... but the mute button is still always white (never goes orange when the system is muted).  And there is still no DVD transport or eject control.
    Since this works with the original drive, this shows that this is not a hardware issue (otherwise, it wouldn't work for either drive).  It is obviously a driver/software/configuration problem.  But there doesn't seem to be one program or driver install which provides all the needed/wanted/desired function... not even two or three installs.  (and I still don't know why the wi-fi button isn't turning blue like it did before I did the firmware upgrade... which, unfortunately, I can't undo as older firmware versions aren't available to download).
    How does somebody get all the original quick launch button (the capacitive button bar above the keyboard) back?

    Have you tried installing the Quick Launch button software from the following weblink:

  • Trying to create Large Play button on Flash CS4

    Hello,
    I am trying to create the following: (using someone elses post from another board)
    "I am wondering if there is a way to hide the FLVPlayback skin until a certain event happens. Let me explain.
    I have an instance of the flvplayback component in my movie. I have the player skin set to "autohide" and "autoplay" set to false. Instead of having users click on the play button of the skin to start the movie I have incorporated a larger play button in the middle of the screen. The set back here is that when a user mouses over the movie to click on the larger play button the flvplayback skin appears as well.
    I'd like to basically tell the skin "Hey don't appear on mouseover until AFTER the large play button is pressed." What code would I need for this in Actionscript 3?"
    I am curious if someone can teach how to embed a regular .swf movie file into the
    "example" code, which was also posted here
    (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323702)
    I have very limited coding skills and very much appreciate the assistance.
    Rod

    You are looking for the visible property I believe.
    At the beginning of your code, set:
    myFLVPlayer._visible = false;
    to set it invisible (replacing "myFLVPlayer" with your components name ocourse)
    Then, onRelease of your button, set:
    myFLVPlayer._visible = true;
    to make it visible again.
    EDIT
    I just looked at your code in the other forum, and here is your onRelease function fixed:
    video_mc.video._visible = false;
    video_mc.bigButton_mc.onRelease = function(){
    video_mc.bigButton_mc._visible = false;
    video_mc.video._visible = true;
    video_mc.video.play();
