Quick pre-installation question

Hi all
I'm getting Infinity installed on Monday.
My master socket is in the living room but I have an office where I have my router, gigabit switch, NAS etc. etc.
I 'could' have the switch/NAS/modem/router in the lounge behind my sofa and run me PC and Laptop via wireless but really that's not ideal for me.
Will the engineer be happy to move the master socket (not too complex a job as far as I can see, routing about 5 metres of cable from the outside into the next room) when there is an alternative?
Thanks in advance
Dene

Well, that was dead easy!!
Was supposed to be here between 1pm and 6pm. She called at 11:30am to say she was about to start the work. Came to the door at 11:45am.....Did the work in about 40 minutes and promptly left :-)
Really nice engineer, very helpful, just changed the existing master socket in the living room and plugged the new modem into the data extension in the office. Hey presto! super speed infinity now up and running.
Can't complain about that speed after my previous 3Mb/s connection.
Very very happy with BT right now :-)
Thanks everyone for your previous advice in this thread.

• Quick B2B installation question

I am integrating with a couple of suppliers. Currently both these suppliers send out files with EDI data using sFTP. Do I still need the OHS setup in DMZ or can the entire SOA suite (including B2B and OHS) remain on the intranet site. Can I assume that I need OHS setup in DMZ only when I receive/send messages over http?

Can I assume that I need OHS setup in DMZ only when I receive/send messages over http?I do not think so. OHS can be used to make connection to any server (even sFTP).

• Pre-Sales Installation Questions on Adobe CS6

I am thinking about getting Adobe Creative Suite Design Web Premium CS6 from the local campus bookstore so I can use it with the web certificate program I am taking. They have a boxed version which I will probably get. Less expensive than the digital download card version. I had some pre-sales question before I commit to buying it. The person I talked to on the phone was not able to answer a few questions about the software, must have been a newbie and unfortunately the only one in the department at the time.
Since I will be purchasing the boxed version directly from the store, do I need to still e-mail some kind of student proof to Adobe or is a student e-mail sufficient? How does that work part of the installation work/what's involved? Is there a serial number in the box already or will it be sent by e-mail?
Also, my Mac may be on it's last leg but it seems to be hanging in there. Can't afford to buy a new computer just yet. What happens if the hard drive experiences some kind of data failure. If I need to reinstall on a new computer or replacement boot drive, do I have to repeat the whole process of verification of some kind prior to re-installing?
Once I graduate (and understand that will not be able to keep my student email address), how will this effect me in regards to the Adobe software? What if I need to reinstall or install it on a laptop (I heard you can install it on two computers)?

You only verify once. Acceptance makes you eligible for a serial number.
To re-install after that, you install the software and enter your serial number.
Ensure that your computer meets the minimum requirements to run CS6.
Once I graduate (and understand that will not be able to keep my student email address), how will this effect me in regards to the Adobe software?
You can still continue using your student software after you graduate.
http://prodesigntools.com/difference-between-adobe-cs5-student-editions-vs-regular.html
You will pay normal retail price for other Adobe software or to upgrade or to join the Cloud.
What if I need to reinstall or install it on a laptop (I heard you can install it on two computers)?
Download the software installer (or use your disc), install it and enter your serial number.
Your license entitles you to activate the software on a maximum of two computers at the same time.
Note: the CS6 license is operating system specific i.e. works on 2 x Windows only or 2 x Mac only. You cannot mix and match. However you can mix and match Cloud (CC) software.

• Photoshop Elements 10 Installation Question

How can I tell if my software installed properly? The software came with three discs, and it only installed the first disc. I am new to Photoshop, and do not know if my software installed properly? Can anyone help?

Gautham K,
Thank you for your quick replies. I have checked,and my OS is indeed 64 bit. I have been using the 32 bit version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, since I installed it last evening. I have a few quick questions;
Will I loose any functionality if I stay with the 32 bit version versus un-installing and installing the 64 bit version from disc 2?
If I decide to un-install, and re-install from disc 2, will there be any software registration issues (as I have already registered the software)?
Thanks again for all of your help.

• FL2.x pre-installation

Hi
I have developed a FL2.x application and tested it on lots of
Nokia
phones. I am happy with the number of Nokias that have FL2.x
pre-installed.
My question is about pre-installation of FL2.x on some
Sony-Ericssons
that I have been researching.
According to a recent Sony Ericsson developer guidelines for
Flash
Lite 2.0 released 24 Jan 2008: (see
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=91537)
the
phones "K630, V640, K660, K850, W760, W890, W910,
Z750" have FL2.0
player pre-installed and can run it in 'stand-alone' mode (a
mode
required to run my application - ie: outside a browser).
However, according to Adobe Device Central CS3 (I have all
the latest
updates) the Sony Ericsson W910i has FL2.0 pre-installed but
will not
run standalone apps (I guess that means only browser apps).
The
message in Device Central is:
"The selected content type Standalone Player is not
supported by the
Flash Lite player on this device."
I went to a mobile phone store that sells the W910i and asked
about
FL2.0 pre-installation. He didn't know the answer.
Has anybody used a Sony Ericsson mobile that had FL2.x
pre-installed
(I am pretty sure the Z750 does, but not sure if the others
support
standalone mode or not). The info I have seems to be
conflicting.
Thanks, Ian

• Pre-sales Questions

What is the best way to contact Apple and get answers to pre-sale questions? Sometimes these forums work well, other times there is no response. When there is a response, is there a way one can determine it the responder is a representative from Apple?
Is there an 800 number that one can call for pre-sales questions? Unfortunately the closest AppleStore is 60 miles from my home.

Hi jbmth,
Responses you get here are from other users that volunteer to share their Apple knowledge.
The quality is probably the best possible, since every time something goes wrong in one's advice, someone else would quickly jump in and offer corrections/additions.
Determine representatives from Apple:
They have a white apple in front of their names. You won't see an answer from an Apple employee more than once or twice a year here really.
This is most a user-to-user forum.
What kind of info do you need?
Generally speaking, speculation about new products is quite very unwelcome by Apple standards.
Here in the Discussions, it is simply forbidden by the Terms of Use.
I hope this helps.

• Quick SAP Script question New Page Print

Quick SAP Script question
I have added a new page to an existing SAP Script BUT only want it to print if a condition is true.
I need to do this from within the form as the print program is SAP Std.
Any idea how I can prevent the new page from printing?
i.e. I need the form NOT to call the new page if the condition is false. Is there a way of forcing an exit or stop from with in the form?

Hi,
To trigger a new page, there is script ediotr command NEW-PAGE.
so find where is that command is triggered and use the below code for trigger it on any specific condition....
if &condition& = 'True'
/* NEW-PAGE
elseif
/: NEW-PAGE
endif
so it means if condition is satisfied your new page will not work.. else it will...
Hope you got it...
Try this..
Best luck..

• Pre-installation cluvfy check fails on local nodes

I am setting up a RAC cluster in Oracle 11.2.0.3 on two Windows 2008R2 nodes.
I have completed all the pre-installation tasks (I hope) and would like to verify this by running:
cluvfy comp sys -p database -n all
using the standalone download of cluvfy - I haven't installed any Oracle software as yet.
This completes successfully on the remote node but fails on the local node (whichever one I run it from).
There is a lot of output but these seem to be the key problems:
[1852@PRDAT217] [Worker 3] [ 2013-10-01 14:44:45.190 BST ] [WindowsSystem.deleteService:876] _WS_ deleteService2: node PRDAT217 Service OracleRemExecService result: 0|Access is denied.

However, there is a folder in the temporary destination call oraremservice and there are DLL files and the RemoteExecService.exe in there.
In the temp directory there are a number of log files called e.g. sprvmcli_9885533.log (the number is generated uniquely each time),
When running against the local node, these contain the following:
10/01/13 14:44:42 Trying to open a named pipe
10/01/13 14:44:42 About to open pipe
10/01/13 14:44:42 calling create file
10/01/13 14:44:42 Error opening the pipe 5
10/01/13 14:44:42 sprvcli: retval = 7
When the cluvfy runs successfully against the remote node, this has much more information in, and the errors do not occur.
Am I using the cluvfy utility incorrectly for this stage of the operation, or is there something wrong with my setup?

first Confirm the connectivity between all of the nodes:
Cluvfy comp nodecon –n all –verbose

• Installation Questions Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition

We are looking to install Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition and have the following installation questions:
When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do. Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install? If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?

The typical installation scenario is to have 3 tiers - application (WAS), application (Documaker), and data. WAS tiers host web applications (Dashboard, Administrator, Interactive) as well as providing database connection pools and JMS queues for messaging - it is expected that the WAS environment is a clustered environment and that the applications are deployed to the cluster members, which can be physical or virtual. For the Documaker application server, these can be physical or virtual as well. It's recommended to install Documaker on single-purposes environments, however there's nothing to prevent you from doing otherwise. The Documaker applications are self-contained JVMs and can be tuned accordingly.

The installation process (currently) writes the scripts according to responses provided during the installation process. The scripts can be reviewed/modified prior to execution.
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?
The official supported version of WAS is 7.0.0.27, however WAS 8.5 may be suitable (I believe there might be a fix pack requirement there - would recommend you submit a question to Oracle Support for verification).

• I have what is hopefully a quick and easy question. I kno...

I have what is hopefully a quick and easy question. I know almost nothing about this stuff so go easy on me . All I need to do is find out if my DHCP is enabled. I'm having problems with my Xbox 360 and one of the possible problems is this DHCP thing. However I have no idea how to find the settings for my router on my computer. If it helps I have a Wirless model BEFW11S4. Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to access your router to check if the DHCP is on. To access the router open your browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 into the address field and hit enter. That should open the routers log on screen and by default the user is left blank (some routers it is admin) and the password is abmin. If you changed your routers password as you should for security reasons then use that password. That will bring you to your routers user interface and on the main set up page should be your DHCP.
