Quick question on BOE deployment for SAP BW with 3 system landscape

Client has SAP BW environment with 3 system landscape: Dev, QA, Production
Should BOE be installed seperately on 3 different machines for each of them?
Or is there any best practice for this?
Thanks,
Henry

Hello Henry,
yes - i would recommend this Setup. Technically there is no need for it but on an organisational/development/deployment level it makes more sence.
I often saw it at customers that Dev and Q&A is on virtual machines and Prod is on a physically machines. Saves some Hardware costs.
Regards
-Seb.

How can I install attachments for SAP notes with zip-files ???

Can you elaborate on your question? How exactly is your question related to SAP NetWeaver Portal: Application Integration? If you are really asking how to install attachments contained in SAP notes, there is no automatic/general way and you should ask your question in the Software Support and Maintenance space to begin with. What SAP note(s) are you looking at installing?

  • Deployment for 250 Clients with a poor communicationlink

    Hello guys :
We're currently working with Forte 3.0.J.1.
    We have two questions :
1.- We have a big application and when we deploy it the client
    partition is quite large.
The size of the standard partition image repositories (*.btd,
    *.btx) is 7436 Kb.
We then need to distribute the client files over a LAN (5% of the
    users) and over a
WAN (96% of the users). Most of the users have a poor communication
    link ( 9600 bps !!!! ).
We have two schemes for the distribution :
a).- Configuration of the client machine ( forte control panel with
    flag :
cfg:em:2:2:2. In this case, the client partition must be
    manually copied.
This takes 50 minutes to copy via ftp. This flag requires
    the file being executed
    using ftexec -fi parameter.
b).- Normal Forte mechanism, the client partition is being
    copied automatically once
forte detects a difference with the current file. This
    takes 56 minutes via
    the Forte environment.
Is there somebody having the same scenario ( low speed
    communications links ), if so
can you share your experience with us?. Apart from that, we are
    having quite good
    response time inside the application.
2.- What is the minimal configuration in memory (RAM) for a Central
    Server Node ( only Forte
environment ). The machine is an Alpha 4100 with 1GB of RAM running
Alpha Unix 4.0.D, the database is
Sybase Adaptive Server 11.9.3 with 250 to 300 concurrent forté

    Hi,
We've similar situation here but a little bit better. What we did was:
    1. We gzipped all the client btrees under appdist after deployment but
    before download.
    2. We wrote our own "Launcher" which would do one extra step - unzip
the client btree before launching the client with normal launchservice.
One drawback of this approach is that you will need
    1. hard-coding on unzipping the btree ( like hard-code for behaviour
under Windows, Mac or UNIX )
    2. carefully designed application name. Note that Forte save the files
in only 8 characters. Any name longer than that will be truncated with
sequence number for the 8th character.
One more thing that we've observed over WAN. When the traffic is really
high and when we have a deployment, the nodemgr will crash claiming that it
is out of memory. However, when we check the trace, the memory allocated by
-fm is far more than enough. Thus, I suspected that when the download is
slow, the nodemgr is flood with threads trying to download the applet to the
client. And it is the thread manager that got boomed when there is really a
    lot of users. So beware.
    Regards,
    Peter Sham.

  • EWA: error message in CRM check for SAP Solution Manager system

    Hello!
In EWA report for SAP Solution Manager system I have seen error message: Many CSA* inbound queues in error status were detected in your system. As a result of this BDocs have not been delivered. And then table
Queue Name                                Status     Date of first entry             Entries

    CSABUPA0000000934           READY     07.05.2008                          45

    CSA_ORDER_8000000001      READY     22.11.2007     3
    and others.
I looked transaction smq2. There are 11300 queues in it. Is it actual error or it is a normal situation? And that must I do, to remove an error?
Edited by: Mariya Kurbatova on Jul 2, 2009 6:27 AM

    Hi,
Usually problems with hanaging CSA* queues are caused because too many
indiviaual queues are created for the qRFC resources to handle. You can
limit the number of queues as described in note 763680.
Note 763680 would be useful if all of your qRFC resourcesa are in use
when you have a great number of queues. With a large number of dialog
WPs on the system it would probably make sense to reduce the amount
    as described in the note.
the casue when you have this problem would be to check SMQR -> GOTO ->
qRFC resources. You can also see if most of your dailog WPs are in use
    in SM50.
    Also refer to note 758677.
Please schedule report RSQIWKEX (Inbound) to run as described in the
    note.
And since your title has mentioned that the EWA is on your CRM satellite system; this maybe a further good reference too
When you replicate lots of data from CRM to R/3, there could be a qRFC
resource problem. In this case, the numebr of queues created can be
reduced by implementing the attached note 356228, particularly solution
    2.
    For CSA* queues is slightly different from the one decribed in note;
this is because the CSA queues exchange data within the CRM system.
The steps described should be followed, except that table SMOFQFIND
must be used instead of CRMQNAMES. In this table, fields TR_SNAEMS and
SEGM_FLD are equivalent to the CRMQNAMES fieds BAPISTRUCT and BAPIFLD
respectively. It should be possible to follow the solution 2 in the
note as long as you use SMOFQFIND instead of CRMQNAMES.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers,
    SH

  • Integration documentation for sap sd with fico and mm

    hi Sappers,
I need Documentation for SAP SD with FICO and MM Module
    its very urgent.
    mail id : [email protected]

    <b>Some basic information :</b>
    FI-MM: The integration between FI-MM happens in T-code: <b>OBYC</b>
      1. When PO is created :
    No Entry -
      2. When GR is posted
Inventory Account dr (Transaction Key BSX in OBYC)
To GRIR account (T.Key WRX in T-code OBYC)
      3. When Invoice is posted
          GRIR account Dr.
          Vendor account  Cr.
      4. Payment made to Vendor
          Vendor A/c Dr
                To Bank Clearing A/c Cr.
Points to know : Movement Types, Assignment of Movement types to T-keys (T-code OMJJ), Value string (I also need some information on this) , OMWN and OMWB transactions.
There is a close integration b/w FI & MM, actually document flows from MM to FI in the following areas such as,
    <u> 1. Movement Types:</u>
Used to enable the system to find the predefined posting rules determining how the accounts of financial accounting system are to be posted & to update the stock fields in the matrl master data.(Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, etc)
    <u> 2. Valuation Class:</u>
Assignment of material to grp of gl account, used to determine the gl accounts that are updated as a result of goods movement.
    <u>3. Transaction/Event key:</u>
Used to control the storage or filing of documents & assignment of documents.Used to differeniate b/w various transactions such as goods movement tht occur in inventory.
    <u> 4. Material Type:</u>
Each material should assign mtrl type in mtrl master record used to update whether changes made in qty are updated in material master record & change in value also updated in stock account.
    <u><b> FI-SD Integration:</b></u>
The integration is done in T-code VKOA
    <u>  1. Sales Order Created</u>
            -No Entry-
      <u>2. PGI done (Goods issue)</u>
Cost of Goods Sold     Dr (Configured in OBYC GBB T-Key)
               To Inventory Account
    <u>  3. Billing document released to Accounting</u>
            Customer Account Dr.
To Sales Revenue Account (ERL T-key in Pricing procedure)
Note : The GL account is assigned to this ERL in VKOA
    <u> 4. Payment Received</u>
            Bank Clearing A/c Dr
                           Customer A/c Cr.
Points to Know : Good to understand the pricing procedure and how the different transaction keys are used like ERL, ERS etc

    Hi Matt!
This is definitely interesting reading and a lot of projects I've been in could have benefitted from it had it been carefully read beforehand by some of the involved parties.
What I like especially is the fact that this is not only for technical consultants (who should know about most of these things anyway) but for the people closer to the business who need to find agreements with the technical guys.
    Good job...
    Jörg
Some comments to what I read:
I noticed that you use the term 'server virtualization' (section 3.3.1) quite generally. Maybe it would be worth introducing the term 'server consolidation' (which you use later in the document)  already in this early chapter. My experience shows that (especially recently) a lot of customers are interested in 'virtual servers' (meaning a virtual server with an OS installed separately), not really knowing what they're talking about and often better advised to use 'server consolidation' (one OS, many SIDs). These two concepts are similar in terms of sharing hardware resources, but quite different in terms of the implications toward administration.
In section 4.2.1.3 you mention (in brackets) the Usage type to which the client belongs for the Business Explorer  and the J2SE Adapter Engine if I understood that correctly. There is no UT mentioned for the other clients and there is no explanation on what the bits in brackets are supposed to mean. (I first expected the 'BeX' abbreviation when I saw something in brackets...)

  • A quick question about WebDynpro SLD and R/3 with concurrent users

    Hello ,
I have a very quick question about Webdynpros and SLD connecting to an R/3 system, when you configure a webdynpro to connect to an R/3 system using SLD, you configure a user name and password from the R/3  for the SLD to use. What I would like to know is when I have concurrent users of my webdynpro, how can I know what one user did in R/3 and what another user did? Is there a way for the users of the web dynpro to use their R/3 credentials so SLD can access the R/3? Like dynamically configuring the SLD for each user?
    - I would like to avoid leaving their their passwords open in the code ( configuring two variable to get the users username and password and use these variables as JCO username and password )
    Thanks Ubergeeks,
    Guy

    Hi Guy
You will have to use Single Sign On to achieve this. In the destination you have defined to connect to R/3 , there is an option to 'useSSO' instead of userid and password. This will ensure that calls to R/3 will be with the userid that has logged into WAS. You wont need to pass any passwords because  a login ticket is generated from WAS and passed on to R/3. The userid is derived from this ticket.
For this to happen you will have to maintain a trust relation ship between R/3 and your WAS ,there is detailed documentation of this in help files. Configuration is very straight forward and is easy to perform
