Quick question: will i get my deleted quicktime player x if i update to yosemite?

Basically my situation is that i accidentally deleted Quicktime player on my macbook air latest edition a few months ago when i bought it due to my stupidity. i the learned that i can't just redownload the app but i have to basically reformat my laptop....
now im just curious if i will get quicktime back if i update my OS to Yosemite ???
thanks and sorry if this question is stupid... im not really a techie person so i dont really know how this OS update works.. thanks though:)

Installing Yosemite or reinstalling the existing OS will restore it. You don't need to reformat the computer to do either, but should still back it up.

  • Will not let me delete quicktime

It will not let me remove quicktime..ive deleted its folders..went to control pannel and when i try to remove it says it cannot be removed. Getiing very angry because I just got the ipod touch and I cant download itunes.
    Please help, thanks.

I had this problem too. When I called apple yesterday they told me to call back because they were closing which was understandable but every time I called today it just gave me a message saying they were too busy and to call back later....Anyway after searching for quicktime.msi (the file I was missing which is why I couldn't uninstall) I found a forum that had the answer to my problem. Download this microsoft cleanup program. Install it and go to start>programs>Windows install cleanup, run the program and find quicktime on the list and remove it. This worked for me I hope it helps you!

  • I keep getting "The application QuickTime player can't be opened" -1712

I just upgraded to Lion on Thursday, and now I can't open QuickTime. Whenever I try to, I get the message "The application QuickTime player can't be opened" -1712
    Any ideas?

Same here. I never had to download Adobe Reader when I was using Snow Leopard in order to open PDF's - it's supposed to be a built in feature of OS X to be able to click and open any PDF. Now I have to go and use external software (that's supposed to be built in already into the OS X) in order to open my files. I think this is a bug that Apple needs to sort out asap.

  • Quicktime player app causes screen updates to lag?

I notice gui refreshes are paused by 0.5 seconds every 20 seconds if quicktime player app is loaded.
Example: Load quicktime player app. Now drag a finder around continuously. On my system, every 20 seconds, the finder window will not follow the mouses movements for about 0.5 seconds. About 0.5 seconds after the pause, the window will start to follow the mouses movements again.
No movie needs to play. There is no load on the machine at all.
There are no errors reported in the system logs.
If I quit the app, the problem vanishes.
If i play movies using VLC, there is no lag at all.

Ok so after a few rounds of lugging the computer to the Apple Store's genius bar. I narrowed the problem down to my Samsung synchMaster 244T monitor. This monitor works great with my MacBook Pro and linux machines but for some reason it causes my screen lags on the Mac Pro.
I bought an Apple Cinema display and the problem vanished!
    Very odd.

  • Quick Question: Will TC Use an External Drive Like the Internal?

I use an AEBS with the "unsupported disks" hack to mount a Drobo disk over AFP. I back up regularly over 802.11n (Apple Version), and it has been working very well since December. There's no question that it works. I have done a couple of restores, and regularly browse to ensure backup integrity. I do offsite backups of important/secure stuff, but that's not a Time Machine regimen. It's much more a classic "dump n' burn" type of thing.
If no one is familiar with a Drobo, it's a pretty nice piece of kit. It's a "slobo," so you want to use it over a network, but it is robust as ****. A LOT cheaper than RAID 5 (I set up about 1.7TB of redundant storage for about $700).
What I get tired of are extremely long "Preparing" and "Finishing" sessions in my backups. The backups are not considered done unless all three phases have completed ("Preparing", "Backing Up", "Finishing"). In many cases, the "Preparing" phase is a lot longer than the "Backing Up" phase. I'm pretty sure that this is because Time Machine is sorting out the prior backups on the disk. It probably does this in a fairly primitive manner across the mounted file system.
I am assuming that Time Capsule has a client/server architecture, where the TC unit does a lot of the "sorting out" in the unit itself, as opposed to making the computer do it. What concerns me is that it does this only for the internal disk, and external disks are treated in exactly the same manner as they are currently treated by the AEBS. I have asked several people at Apple (including so-called "geniuses") about this, and have received blank stares, so the prognosis isn't good.
Unless Apple can convince me that the TC will offer a significant improvement over my current system, I see no reason to get one. This isn't aimed at people like me. It is aimed at home users who have never had a backup in the first place. I don't think they lose any sleep over the thought that I won't buy a TC for my setup.

You said "In order for TC to be attractive to home users, they must be offloading a lot of the administrative work to the unit." If this was a question... The answer is that there is no real "server" intelligence built into the Time Capsule. All the "administrative work" for Time Machine is done on the Mac running Time Machine.
As a side note - Apple employees will very, very rarely enter discussions in these forums.

  • Quick question: How to get the scrolled page number using af:table

    Hi,
When using range paging on scrolled table, how to get the current scrolled page number(1,2,3...), for example when moving the table vertical scroll bar forward or backward, is there any method in ViewObjectImpl class that I can use to get such information? I have seen the method scrollToRangePage(int i), but when scrolled ("Fetching data..."), it doesn't not get into this method. So it is wrong usage for this method, right?
    Thanks

Didn't you just ask that question in this thread?: How to catch the page number when using scroll table in ADF 11g?
A bit of patience might be in order.

  • Accidentally deleted Quicktime Player X

I was trying to get QT Player 7 Pro on but QT Player 7 won't install on my Macbook Pro, which uses 10.6 and I deleted QTPX for it. Is there any way I can reinstall it without any install disc?

Is there any way I can reinstall it without any install disc?
Yes, but only if you have a copy of the same QT X Player version available on a different drive. Simply copy the app back to your platform's "Application" folder.

  • When trying to add a bookmark, I get a delete (n) bookmarks button. what is being deleted?

I am using Sync. I have a lot of bookmarks saved. When I want to add a new one, I will sometimes get a delete button(asking to delete some number of bookmarks) in the top of the box to pick witch folder to put the bookmark in. Is this deleting duplicates? Do I have too many bookmarks? I don't always get the delete button.

That means that that URL is already bookmarked (more than once if you see a count) possibly on one of the other computers if you didn't do it yourself.
In that case you need to make a copy of that bookmark in the Library or sidebar or edit the existing bookmark (change the name or the folder location).

  • Will the latest version of Quicktime Pro(for Vista) create a Lime Lapse from a .Mov file (from a video camera)

Will Quicktime Pro for Windows convert a .MOV file to a time lapse?
I have a six hour tripcoming up next weekend, and want turn a full length bullet cam video(native .MOV) of it into a time lapse to post.  I have found tons of info saying QuicktimePro will go from stills to time lapse, but only one reference to converting an existing 1080P .mov file into one.
Any and all help and or direction  will be greatly appreciated!

QuickTime Player Pro can open image sequences and export to an image sequence. This will create a series of still image files, sequentially named to a folder you create.
Open the video and choose Export from the File menu. In the next dialog window choose "Movie to Image Sequence" and then click the "Options" button. Here you set the "frame per second" and the file format (JPEG, PNG, etc.) and other options (like target file size or compression).
Set the FPS to one and one image file per second of video will be extracted and compressed. If your source was 30 fps then the first frame of the first second of the file will be saved. Set the fps to two and the first and fifteenth frame will be captured.
    Some words of cation:
Be sure to create a new folder prior to the export. You don't want hundreds (or thousands) of image files cluttering your desktop.
Edit the source file prior to export to get a "long" shot of the action. Scene breaks will look awkward when they are played at high speed.
Don't make a 1080 file export to image sequence. If your source is 1080 use the View menu to change it to "Half Size". These half size image files will help keep the file size down and help playback on older machines.
Now that you have your folder of images choose "import Image Sequence" from the file menu and set your fps rate back to the same as your source file.
You'll note that file size of your exported/imported project will probably be larger than your source file (and maybe too big to share on the Web). Export it again "Movie to QuickTime Movie" and choose H.264 video codec and set an "average" data rate. This should crunch the file five times smaller.

  • How do I recover QuickTime Player X after I accidentally deleted it?

After accidentally deleting QuickTime Player X, I can't seem to recover it at all. Right now I'm resorting to QuickTime 7, but I can't do screen recordings without Quicktime X. I have searched everywhere on how to recover it, Google, wikipedia, YouTube.....etc. to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

Use Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and then run the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo updater.

  • QuickTime Player has stopped working

On my Vista machine, I can not run Quicktime since I get the error "QuickTime Player has stopped working" so it basically crashes. If I run Quicktime from other user accounts it works fine. It also works fine if I run it "as administrator". I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no success. I have also followed suggestions in this forum to erase some hidden quicktime related files with no success. Does anyone have any other ideas???

Many thanks. Best to print off a copy of these instructions, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
Switch "Run as administrator" off in the QuickTimePlayer.exe compatibility tab.
Download and save a fresh copy of the QuickTimeInstaller.exe (installer file) from the following page. Get the option that doesn't mention iTunes. Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Now quit all of iTunes, Safari and the MobileMe control panel if you have them installed and open. (They all use AAS, and may interfere with the uninstall if left open.)
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your Uninstall a program control panel. Uninstall QuickTime. Uninstall Apple Application Support.
(From this point, none of iTunes, Safari or the MobileMe control panel will launch until we reinstall AAS, which should happen when we reinstall QuickTime.)
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
In "Computer" open "Local Disk C:" (or whichever drive you have your program files installed on).
    Open the "Program Files" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    Open the "Common Files" folder.
    Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "Apple Application Support" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
In "Computer" open "Local Disk C:" (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" and "QuickTimeVR" files (if they still exist) and select "Delete".
    Empty your Recycle Bin.
(If you got any error messages on the uninstalls and/or deletions, let us know what they say. Precise text, please.)
    *Reinstall Phase*
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the reinstall by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier. (This should also reinstall Apple Application Support.)
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
... does QuickTime launch without the error this time? Or do we still have to do the "Run as administrator" thing?

  • Open all videos in standalone quicktime player

is it possible to force all videos to be played in the standalone quicktime player?
my hope is to be able to play any and all videos from my browser (default browser is firefox, but safari is installed too) in the proper quicktime player so i can airplay it to another device on the network (appletv on the hdtv)
it seems that certain apps or streams/videos seem to be able to airplay fine and the commonality seems to be if it will play in a native quicktime player app.
i have seen that mr jobs made a statement of safari & airplay to come in 2011, but if you can force the video into the standalone player, i wonder if it could work right now for example, i cannot get the apple.com videos to airplay...
    cheers
    jingo_man

is it possible to force all videos to be played in the standalone quicktime player?
Only if the site programmer programmed the site to do this or if you download/load the movie file in a QT player manually yourself.
