Quick questions on USB 3 and killer network drivers

Hi, I have a  z87-GD65 board.  Was curious because Ive had some issues with front panel USB 3 ports, causing system lockup when plugging in drives sometimes and have had to reboot.  I noticed on startup I have Intel USB 3 monitor driver, and also NEC U...

    Hi,
I think I fixed the USB issue.  I just removed the old NEC USB 3 driver and use only the Intel uSB 3 driver and it has no problems with my front usb ports now.
I also installed the killer network driver only without suite and it works great.

  • Win7 reinstall and G570 networking drivers

    Hi all,
I have a Lenovo G570 machine running 64-bit Windows 7 (Home Premium).  The machine got into a state where it couldn't boot properly (I'd get the splash screen and then the screen would go dark, other than I could see and move the mouse).  So I reinstalled Windows 7 from the original disc, selecting the Custom option (after trying multiple system restore points etc...).
After the reinstall, I find that Windows doesn't recognize a number of drivers, and I have no network connectivity. see screen shot below from Device Manager.  I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded what I thought were the correct drivers for both LAN and wireless, but when I tried to update them (transferring to the machine via USB key), Windows tells me those aren't the correct drivers.  I'm now at a bit of a loss as to how to troubleshoot.  And yes, my cable modem and wireless router are fine, all other devices in the house can access the Internet.  I'm hoping if I can get the networking drivers installed properly, maybe Windows can do the others automagically so I don't have to hunt for them. For the LAN driver, the one that hasn't worked is Atheros LAN Driver (AR8151L-Giga)(AR8152L-10/100) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G470 and G570.  For wireless, the one that hasn't worked is Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G470 and G570.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help...

    Hi,
Is the chipset driver installed? From the image, it looks like chipset is not installed ( SM Bus Controller ). Install the drivers in the same order listed elow. Restart laptop whenever it prompts for restart. Do let me know if it solved the issue. Giving all the links, just in case if the same files are not already downloaded.

  • Killer Network drivers Windows 8.1 problem

I upgraded my windows 8 system to 8.1 yesterday, but since then the driver for my Killer Network card, from my Z87-G45 motherboard, been having issues. I downloaded the latest driver, but it gave an error when trying to install. I de-installed my older drive to try a clean install of the driver, thinking that I had my driver cd to go back to the old driver if anything went wrong. The latest driver wasn't compatible with my current operating system, and the older version from the driver cd wouldn't install either. Is a windows 8.1 compatible driver available? I would be able to download it on another device and transfer it via USB. Is downgrading to windows 8 possible without losing all of my files?
I hope to have fixed this problem as soon as possible.

I had the same problem with a clean install of Win 8.1. After trying different newer packages, which were not working, I uninstalled it all and re-installed from the DVD, which has the only working version so far (8.0.2.42 in Windows Device Manager). Also my BIOS update from 1.6 to 1.7 fails (posting another thread).

  • MS-6367 USB and Win 2000 drivers

Hi, can someone point me in the right direction here.
I have an NEC Powermate XL4 which has an MS-6367 (MSI) NOVA motherboard. I bought it with Win XP Home and the original NEC CD which contains XP drivers.
I recently installed Windows 2000 Professional and loaded the nforce drivers from the Nvidia website which seems to have installed OK. I'm having problems with a USB2 pci card as the external hard drive attached to it seems to be losing power (although it has an external power source) when transferring large files. It seems to work ok on the inbuilt USB1 ports though.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with USB in general on this PC, as it seems to be using standard Win 2000 USB drivers -I can't seem to locate Win 2000 drivers for this motherboard. I'm a bit confused with the USB information in device manager. I have the following listed:
Standard OpenHCD PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD PCI to USB Host Controller
    USB 2.0 Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
VIA PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
    VIA USB Universal Host Controller
    VIA USB Universal Host Controller
This is how it looks with 4 inbuilt USB ports and the PCI Card which has 3 external and 1 internal USB2 ports (an Innovision DM8007). Does this look correct?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks,
Sorry, I meant to say is that I could not find any Win 2000 drivers for the motherboard and that the Nvidia drivers were all I could find and install which seem to only relate to the video, sound and onboard network controller.
The USB card does come with drivers, but I was thinking that there maybe something wrong with the way the motherboard is operating and that maybe I'm missing specific Win2k drivers for this particular motherboard.
I'm about to test a newer driver for the PCI card to see if that sorts it out.
    Thanks
    Dan

  • How to uninstall and reinstall network drivers on a Samsung 580?

Hi. During the summer, I got a new laptop. It was all fine and dandy when I was at home, using a dial up connection, but when I went to school, I immediately had problems. Neither the cable connection nor the wireless worked. I've got the wireless to work (only the IPV4 connectivity though, IPV6 does not have connectivity), but cable still isn't workinng. I know it's not the cable cord or jack in the wall because I'm typing this from my old laptop. I made a  thread on the Windows 7 forum here that provides a further detailed report of the issue as well as some diagnostic stuff (the ipconfig/all thing and whatnot).
I'm thinking maybe the problem will fix itself if I reinstall the driver - since I might have monkeyed around with something and made it worse.
I'm asking how to do that. The driver is a Marvell Yukon 88E8059 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and I have a samsung 580. I made backup discs when I first got the computer and I just want to remove and add one driver. If that doesn't work, then I guess I'll have to do a clean wipe (again, steps please?) unless anyone can offer any further advice.

The information asked for above would really help. Since you don't have a copy of just the network chipset/card driver, please go to the manufactuer's website and download the driver manually. This will overwrite the old driver. However, again, it doesn't sound like this is the problem - still, having the most current drivers is always advisable.

  • Download Zen Boot CD's and Compiling Network Drivers

Sorry for the last sevral posts. I have never been sent off on Linux
training to this is all relatively new to me.
Question 1) Are there a few websites that allow you to download Zen Boot
Cd's? Also, I would like to get my hands on a Zenworks 6.5 SP2 Zen Boot
    CD?
Question 2)we are using Zenworks 4.01 ir7 (2.4.31 kernel) and just got a
shipment of Dell Optiplex 745 computers in that use the Broadcom network
driver for the 5754 chipset. I went to Novell and got the Zenworks
4.01ir7 imaging source code (compiling the driver), got the newest
Broadcom Network driver for the 5754 chipset and it was tested with the
2.4.31 kernel and it works, I also have VMWAre Workstation and also
downloaded the Suse Enterprise Server 9 Virtual Machine Workstation from
    Novell as well.
Is this everything I will need in order to compile the new Broadcom 57xx
network driver for the 5754 chipset or will I need other utilties etc..?
Question 3) Is there good documentation on how to compile a network driver
or any other driver using the 2.4.31 kernel or any other kernel (i.e.
    2.6.xx_ for that matter?
Question 4) Once the driver is compiled what do I do next? Is there
something I have to import into my existing Zenworks 4.01 ir7 boot cd?
Thanks! Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying my best to learn some
about linux and would appreciate some guidance!

  • Quick Question About Ringtones and iPhone

I've looked through the discussions and could not find my answer. If you know of a discussion already posted please refer me to that.
Question: After buying a song from iTunes is there a statute of limitations governing the song's ability to create a ringtone?
None of the songs that I bought before my iPhone can be made into ringtones and songs that I bought a few days ago, which initially I could make into a ringtone, but did not, now can no longer be made into a ringtone.
Also, is there any program besides iTunes that can be used to create ringtones from any song?
Thank you for any and all help.

No there is not a time limit that I know of. The bell has disappeared on mine too. Have you clicked Store>create ringtone?
There are many, many posts about other ways to make ringtones:

  • Quick Question, re: C and C++ Compilers Installation

I am running Mac OS X Tiger; I've been reading on here that in order to get the C and C++ compilers, I have to use the Tiger discs that came with my iBook. So, my question is, when I pop these discs in, will it give me an option of what I want to install/correct, a la a Windows Installer for applications? If not, what do I need to do?
Thanks in advance for your time in responding.
      Mac OS X (10.4.5)

MacOS X comes with XCode, Apple's IDE that include a C/C++/Objective-C compiler (and a lot of other stuff). Just run the Developer's Tool install from your installation disk or download the current version from the Apple developer site. It's extremely easy to install.

  • Quick question about rendering and exporting with multiple presets

Probably a very simple question but I'm pretty new to PPro, so I'd appreciate your help...
I've got an uncompressed AVI video that I want to export to mp4 using several presets (that means several exports). What I intend to do is the following:
I create a sequence and put my AVI file in there and then I just apply the preset and without rendering go to export media, select my export setting, and put it in the encoding queue at the Media Encoder. Then on the same sequence, I clear the preset and apply a new one, and again without rendering, go to export and then to the encoding queue. I repeat this for as many times as presets as I want to apply. At the end I have created (in no more than 2-3 minutes) several exports in the Adobe Media Encoder queue, that I can launch and go and do something else while encoding...
My question: will the export files each have the different preset applied even though it was not rendered? if it does not work, would that work if I were to do this with each preset applied on a different sequence, even without rendering?
Thanks in advance for your input!

I create a sequence and put my AVI file in there and then I just apply the preset.
Then on the same sequence, I clear the preset and apply a new one, and again without rendering, go to export and then to the encoding queue.
Does "apply the preset" mean selecting an encoding preset
before sending the Sequence to the Queue?
If I understand what you are trying to do...
It sounds like you want to do multiple, different format
exports from the same Premiere Sequence.
    If so...
I would Queue the Sequence to Media Encoder once from Premiere,
then duplicate the entry in the Queue (Ctrl+D) and assign the
different encode types to the duplicates in Media Encoder,
(instead of Queueing the Sequence multiple times).
...will the export files each have the different preset applied even though it was not rendered?
A Sequence will be encoded using the assigned settings.
You can set multiple encodes in the Queue, each with different settings.
I'm not sure what you mean by "even though it was not rendered...".
Unless you have specified 'Use Preview Files' in your encoding,
it will make no difference if your Sequence is 'Timeline Preview'
    rendered or not.

  • Quick question about MPE and GPU configuration.

I have 2 graphics card in my mac pro. I am trying to use one to drive the displays and dedicate the other solely to PPro MPE. My question is do i have to connect a display to the GPU to enable MPE?

Damn! I had a feeling it was like that. So in a dual monitor setup if I have a CUDA enabled card driving one display and a non cuda card driving the other will MPE work if i put just the program monitor in it and keep the rest in the other(non-CUDA) monitor?

  • E71 - 2 quick questions abt screensaver and voice ...

hi all, I have had the E71 for a week now and was wondering:
    A) if I turned off the breathing light in any profile, the time and date screen saver appears (ok nothing new right). However, if I turned off the breathing light I have noticed the breathing light is still on... yes still breaths... but that doesnt matter, what matters is that the time on the screen saver DOES NOT CHANGE... i mean if its 12:00 noon at the time when the screen saver kicks in, it will stay at 12:00 noon until I either press the center button to see the time light up or unlock the phone... the time in the screensaver does NOT update as the time changes.... is this a bug or am I missing something??
    B) you know the button between the volume buttons... the one that when pressed you can voice active certain applications to come up... my question is.. can I map this button to open another application as the voice app does me no good? Is there a software to map this or is there a setting in the phone?
    thanks

The screen saver lag seems to be a widely known bug in the 200.21.118 firmware. People have reported that among other issues here: /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=45616
Would you like to add your bug report to that thread too?

  • Questions about AFP and SMB network drives

Is there a major speed difference between the two? At my school I am given network drive space, and my drive seems accessibly via afp:// and not via SMB.
I transferred a 30MB file once and afp:// transferred at about 1 MB a second. This seemed about as fast as when I used OS 9 and connected to afp:// servers.
Also can one access a afp:// drive on a Windows 98 computer without third party software (PC MacLan)? The It director has been trying to help my Windows 98 laptop also gain access to my drive, but everything he has told me to try has failed. Perhaps because Windows 98 cant connect with Appletalk over TCP/IP servers.
    Thanks for the help.
If this message belongs in another forum, please let me know.
    John

I am on a T1 and using the ibooks network card.
    Back in 2005 I was on a Performa 6360 and also used a network card (100 base T) on a T1.
Its strange why the ibook would be no faster than the performa for transferring files.
So can Windows 98 connect to afp:// servers?

  • Quick question about inheritance and exceptions

If I have two classes like this:
    public class ClassA {
        public void myMethod() throws NumberFormatException {
          throw new NumberFormatException();
    public class ClassB extends ClassA {
        public void myMethod() {
}Does myMethod() in classA override myMethod in classB?
    And why?
    Thank you,
    V

I just want to add that since NumberFormatException is
a descendant of RuntimeException, you are not required
to declare that the method throws this exception. Some
people think it is a good idea to declare it anyway
for clarity. Personally, I don't think so.I agree.
I think Sun recommends that you don't declare unchecked exceptions in the method declaration, but do document them in the javadoc comments.

  • Quick Question - Crystal 8 and Windows 7

Officially I know this is not supported but do we know that this will not work for Windows 7?
We have some old reports we would like to maintain for mulitple clients, Crystal 8 installs on the PC,
loads the reports but fails on verify  with cannot load library "" error.
I will try some other things but if anyone has any comments on this, it would be appreciated.

    It's likely access issues.
Turn DEP off completely. You can use Process Monitor and filter on crw32.exe and look for Access Denied errors. It may be that missing dependencies are not installed.
    Good luck
    Don
