Quick queston regarding the oracle pricing

Hi,
I'm not sure whether I need can ask this question in the forum or not, I'm also not sure where I can find the answer, please guide me if needed.

db version is 11.2.0.3
os : AIX
Thanks and Regards

  • Regarding the Oracle certification

    Hi,
To become a Oracle Certified Associate, One has to pass Two exams. They are
(1Z0-007 OR 1Z0-001) And IZO-147. I'm an application developer. so My doubt is whether i should go for 1Z0-007 OR for 1Z0-001 for the first paper. If any one can differentiate these two then it would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Alok

dat doesnt make any difference, actually 1z0-007 is purely sql and 1z0-001 is sql+pl\sql;whereas 1z0-147 is purely pl\sql.
so my suggestion is go for 007+147

  • Query Regarding the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA

    Hi All
I am planning to go for the certification "Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA "
But I am not sure what is value of this certification in market.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in advance
    Amit

My view is this: The more you can put on your resume, usually the better. By itself, its not worth anything. Combined with several years of experience, it could make a difference. If you go for a job and have 5 years of experience and a certification, and the other candidate just has 5 years, as long as you both interview well, I'd say you have a slightly better shot because you have that extra thing on your resume.
You need to look at it in that respect - but its not a magic key to get you any job. Of course different countries may be different in how they view certiciations.

  • Regarding the oracle HTTP server

    Hi experts....
Please help me with this issue.
we have a internet facing APEX application.
    For that application i have
    i) session state protestion enabled
    ii) application is in "https"
iii) Proxy server which allows only the requests with that application no (app id)
I am not familiar how the sys admin confirgured ii and iii.
As a APEX developer from my end,i just enabled the session state protection for that application.
We have "Mc afee" secure scan for all the internet facing applications what we have in our org.
For that APEX based application we are getting some "security alerts" that tells to disable
    the "PUT,DELETE methods"
    Description:
The PUT method allows an attacker to upload arbitrary web pages on the server.
If the server is configured to support scripts like ASP or PHP, it will allow the attacker to execute code
with the privileges of the web server. The DELETE method allows an attacker to delete arbitrary content
    from the web server.solution:
Disable the PUT and/or DELETE method in the web server configuration. After doing some search won how to diable the put and delete methods?
we made the following changes in httpd.conf file
    <Directory />
        Options FollowSymLinks
        AllowOverride None
        Order deny,allow
        Deny from all
        <Limit PUT DELETE TRACE>
          Order deny,allow
          Deny from all
        </Limit>
    </Directory>
Does this config change affect anything in the APEX application?
what other measures should anyone need to take for any Internet facing APEX application?
    Thanks

    Hi varad...
    Thanks for the reply...
I am able to find where the "access log files" exits in the web server and found that there are "several" access log files exists for each day.
Do i need to check all the "access log" files? or is there any command for it?
Does the following config changes disables the PUT and DELETE methods?
and Does this changes affect any other functionality of existing applications on prod?

  • The Oracle Host command locks up XP occasionally after returning from LabVIEW app.

    Here's the scenario:
The Oracle Host command calls a LabVIEW exe I created called LVSMS.exe. LVSMS than calls a Campbell Scientific app called SMS.exe that reads data from a storage device through the serial port COM1. SMS is closed by LabVIEW through the use of the SMS app pull down menu using keystrokes generated by LabVIEW keystroke commands. The data obtained by SMS initially gets stored to the local drive and is than copied to the network. LabVIEW than exits. Upon exiting LabVIEW and returning to Oracle control under the Oracle HOST command which is running in the background the whole time, WinXP will occasionally lock up.

Thanks. WinXP only locks up when returning from LabVIEW to Oracle. The app is running on 12 computers 2,000 miles away. I found out that 4 of the 12 have locked up. I'm still working on determining if the lock up happens on 4 specific computers or if it's random. It never locks up on my development machine which is supposed to be identical to the machines at the other facility. I've changed timing intervals between when the Campbell SMS.exe program closes and when the LabVIEW LVSMS.exe program closes, and changed the WinXP performance properties. We're evaluating the results now; the process is used only once every 4 hours, so evaluation is slow. The Oracle HOST command appears to be the culprit. Haven't tried it from Win2000, but my WinXP development system
    works flawless.
I'm hoping for information regarding the Oracle HOST command and WinXP. Posssibly what to tweak.
Shooting in the Dark! Thanks for your response!

I have a comment.  I am very upset with Photoshop and all your tutorials regarding the quick select tool.  I have watched many tutorials and read instructions until I am blue in the face.  This tool does not work.  It is all over the place and all of your tutorials make it look so simple.  How can you advertise this as a viable tool when it just doesn't work?

It is all over the place and all of your tutorials make it look so simple.
This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
How can you advertise this as a viable tool when it just doesn't work?
Concluding something does not work because you fail at using it is not necessarily always justified.
The Quick Selection Tool certainly has limitations, but your post seems to be more about venting than trouble-shooting – otherwise you might have posted an image where you failed to get an expected result.

  • Doubt's regarding the Hierarchial Queries in Oracle

    Hi,
i have a doubt regarding the Hierarchial Queries in Oracle.
    SELECT * FROM TMP_TEST;
    ID     NUMVAL     STRVAL
    1     100     Hello
    1     -100     World
    2     1     Concatenate
    2     2     In String
    2     3     using Connect By
    2     4     Using SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH
i am clear with my execution of IN_Line view (mechanism how it work's) .
But i have also read about the Hierarchial queries in the Oracle product documentation's. i am also aware of the
SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH , LEVEL & START WITH , CONNECT BY Keywords.
But i couldnot able to Manually work out as how this below Query works.
Can you please explain me how this Hieracial query works ?
    SELECT ID, (SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(STRVAL,',')),LEVEL
    FROM
SELECT ID,STRVAL,ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY ID) RNUM,
COUNT(*) OVER(PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY ID) CNT,NUMVAL
    FROM TMP_TEST
    START WITH RNUM = 1
CONNECT BY PRIOR RNUM = RNUM - 1
    Many Thanks,
    Rajesh.

    Hi, Rajesh,
My first message was in response to your first message.
In your latest message, the query is:
    SELECT  ID, (SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(STRVAL,',')),LEVEL
    FROM    (
SELECT  ID,STRVAL,ROW_NUMBER() OVER(PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY ID) RNUM,
COUNT(*) OVER(PARTITION BY ID ORDER BY ID) CNT,NUMVAL
            FROM TMP_TEST
    WHERE   RNUM = CNT
    START WITH  RNUM = 1
CONNECT BY  PRIOR RNUM = RNUM - 1;It looks like you lost the second CONNECT BY condition:
AND PRIOR ID = IDPut it back: it's important.
Now you're confused about the output row:
2    ,Hello,World, using Connect By,Using SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH   4It doesn't seem to correspond to anything results that you got when you ran the sub-query alone.
That's because the resutls from your sub-query may change every time you run it, even though the data doesn't change. The ORDER BY clauses in both of the analytic functions do not result in a complete ordering. In fact, they're completely meaningless. It never makes any sense to PARTITON BY and ORDER BY the same value; "PARTITION BY id" means that only rows with the same id will be compared to each other; you might as well say "ORDER BY 0" or "ORDER BY dmbs_random.value".
The ORDER BY clause of ROW_NUMBER whould reflect that way in which you want the results to appear within each id, for example:
ROW_NUMBER () OVER (PARTITION BY id ORDER BY UPPER (strval))Note that this is very similar to what was in my first reply.
In the COUNT function, why do you want an ORDER BY clause at all? Just say:
COUNT (*) OVER (PARTITION BY id)

  • Regarding the ipv6 address handling in oracle pl/sql

    Hi,
This is regarding the ipv6 address handling in pl/sql.
Can we use any c program inside the oracle as C/C++ provides more buitl in function for address handling.
Are there are any similar functions in pl/sql.
Kindly let me knoe if there is a way to calculate ipaddress masking.
Are there any system functions in oracle similar to inet_ntop/inet_pton to validate ipv6 addresses.
If not kindly let me know if there is any alternate way.
    Thanks and Regards,

Sven, he means converting a numeric network address to a presentation (character) address - and vice versa.Ok I understand. Validating for me had been either
    a) validate that the IP address does really exist. This could have been implemented by executing some kind of ping command.
    or
    b) validate that the string that hold the human readable IPv6 address is correct same a as string like "[email protected]" looks like a valid email address. This of cause would be implemented with some kind of regexp expression.
However it seems he wants a conversion of the string (human readable ipv6) into a machine readable (hex) representation. Not sure why this is needed, But I agree that simply reusing the OS C routines seems to be the best way to do it.
I strongly doubt that the result is very useful in Pl/sql. So the big question (as so often) would be what is the business case behind this requirement. Maybe some part of the logic needs to be implemented outside the database anyways. Then it could be useful to add this conversion to this outside part as well.

  • Issue in Oracle Pricing - Creating a new pricelist line

    Hi All,
We have an issue in Oracle Pricing.
In a price list we have an existing line with some product precedence value, start date as not null and end date as null.
Now through our PL/SQL code (using the API qp_price_list_pub.process_price_list) we are creating a new line with the same item, what happens is a new line is created and the existing line is end dated with the new line's start_date-1, but the precedence of the existing line is made null.
We are unable to understand, is this a standard functionality and if not then what might be done to retain the previous line's precedence value.
Any help in this would be of great help.

I recently had similar errors on a Win95 PC. The Personal Oracle
    for Win98 CD wouldn't install on a Win95 PC.
I upgraded to Win98 and it installed and worked.
    FYI
The following regards Oracle ODBC drivers-
You must have an Oracle product with SQLNet installed before you
can make the Oracle ODBC driver work.
The version of the ODBC driver to get is supposed to correspond
to the SQLNet or Net8 Client version you're running.
You should only install the version of the ODBC driver that
matches the version of the Oracle client you have. In other
    words--
    ODBC driver     Oracle client
    8.0.5.10      8.0.5.x.x
    8.0.6.2      8.0.6.x.x
    8.1.5.7      8.1.5.x.x
    8.1.6.2      8.1.6.x.x
Start up the Oracle installer and look at the list of products
    already installed.
After installing the Oracle8 ODBC Driver and Configuring Net8
    database services, and
before using the Oracle8 ODBC Driver, you must configure the data
    source.

  • On the Oracle XE BETA Trial License agreement

    Hi all,
I've got a question concerning the Oracle XE BETA Trial license (I'm referring to the document behind the "License Agreement" link in the "links" pane on the right top of the database home page)
I understand that the Oracle XE Beta License grants permission to use the product for evaluation purposes. I also understand that the license is for a limited period of time (one month) only. The things I'm not really clear on are these:
    1) the license states that "You may not use the Software for any commercial or production purpose". What exactly constitutes commercial usage? For example, if I were to provide some business service, and want to allow my customers to enter a restricted or otherwise inaccessible web site powered by Oracle XE, Is that commercial usage? After all, people have to pay before they can access the site altough they are not paying for the database - they are paying for my content.
Also, I though I understood from Tom's podcast that you can redistribute Oracle XE in an embedded form - Does this mean I can't charge money for my own product once I embed Oracle XE?
    2) will the production version have the same limitations regarding commercial usage of the database? What about the limited period of time?
    Any replies are greatly appreciated.
    kind regards
    Roland

    Tom,
thanks for the quick reply. I did browse around the forum pages, but no luck. Of course, I didn't do the obvious and hit the search button - my bad, truly sorry.
I already gathered the production release is planned for the end of februari: great news!
Just to be totally clear on this: does 'production environment' mean that I can legally charge my customers money for use of a web-application powered by XE?
