Quick restore

I had to quick restore my computer to an earlier date. I uninstalled itunes (Windows) and reinstalled it. Now everytime I try to open the program, it says,
"Windows is having a problem opening iTunes and must close" and gives me the option of sending an error report.
Can anyone help me reopen iTunes so I don't lose all the music I purchased?

Come on...someone has to know this. Sorry Im not very Mac savy yet.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Quick restore question - please answer!

    Hi,
    My ipod has completely wiped itself of everything, but is still showing on the pc that it has used most of the space allowed - so it wont put all my songs back on. If i resore my ipod, does it just wipe everything off the ipod..I just wanna check that it doesnt wipe anything off itunes on my pc as i've never restored b4.
    Thanks

    Restoring doesn't do anything to your computer or iTunes. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

  • How can I make restore disks on my macbook pro?

    I just purchased a new 13" Macbook Pro and there are no restore disks. How can I make some?

    Easy way is to take an external HD and make a bootable CLONE.
    1. grab carbon copy cloner or (my fave) superDuper CLONE app.
    2. attach target clone drive via USB in an enclosure or HD dock. Firstly format the target (external new) HD in disk utility in “Mac OS extended journaled”
    3. clone internal HD to target HD (external)   [takes about 40 mins depending on size]
    4. Boot ONCE from external (go to sys. preference to boot from external) to TEST the new Clone
    if your HD crashes, you can be up and running in SECONDS.
    This is the option the pros use for quick restore from a serious crash.
    **Remember of course, youll need otherwise saves of your data that come AFTER the clone.
    Either that or regularly make a CLONE.
    Another option is time machine, but it cannot be booted from.

  • How can I restore up to the current day after restoring from a disk image??

    I do two types of backups... Every night I connect my MB to TM and it backs up changes made throughout the day. On Saturdays I do the same. I bring up time machine and force to backup NOW. I then turn off time machine. I then perform an image backup of the full disk and keep that full weekly image offsite.
    Well I upgraded to SL, and once again many of my drivers still don't work with SL particularly a Verizon Broadband card that I was provided drivers for that have a bug. So back to Leopard I go again.
    I restored the full image backup using boot from DVD & Disk utility. This worked fast and quickly restored my MBP to exactly the point where I forced the backup to time-machine. I had done some work Sunday morning, and made changes to a bunch of files. I forced a TM backup later that night to ensure to catch these changes. After the failure of the SL load, I restored as I noted from an image which is much faster.
    The question is... I am now at the same point of Sat morning. How can I restore to the point where I was Saturday night just before I did a test upgrade to SL if I touched a bunch of stuff. (Some work files, some personal files). So what I really need to restore is the files backed up after my full image from Saturday AM? Any way to do this without knowing the files I updated?
    CLearly TM knows what files were changed and backed them up Saturday night before I performed the upgrade??
    Thanks!
    Mark

    The easiest, most reliable way is to do a full system restore, as of the Saturday night Time Machine backup. See #14 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
    If for some reason you don't want to do that, you can get a list of the items that were actually backed-up, via +Time Tracker+ or +Backup Loupe.+ See #8 in the FAQ Tip.

  • Need help setting up a netboot/net restore server

    I am looking for a link and or step by step instructions to set up a netboot net restore server in Mac OS X.4 server.
    I am using a G5 1.6SP with Mac OS X.4 server
    My goal is to put OS images on this server so i can quickly restore computers with a clean OS install via network
    I have created the images already and currently use a fire wire drive to boot fromso i can restorethe computers with the images storedon the fire wire drive..the server would allow me to install via network.
    So once again if someone can point me to a resource that provides step by step instructions i would appreciate.

    Tony has pointed you in the proper direction. One interpretation of what he's pointed you to:
    Here's what has worked for me in the past.
    When I do netinstalls, I do the following. Disclaimer - I know this is not the only way, but it works...
    Set up one client exactly as I want it, apply all updates, run fsck, repair permissions, and test it out thoroughly.
    I then boot the client in target mode, and attach it directly to the server with a firewire cable and use the image utility on the server to make an image. Follow the prompts to make it a netboot/netinstall image. From the clients, choose the network install image in StartupDisk (or hold the N key when you boot the client, or hold the option key for the bootmanager). You'll obviously need to enable netboot on the server, and it does rely on DNS to be running correctly on the server, just in case you weren't aware. This is not the only way to go, but it should work.

  • Error code 0x800700B7 with System Restore and Backup problems

    My OS is Vista Ultimate. 2GB RAM. 13GB free space on C Drive. I am unable to use System Restore or Backup and Restore center. When I try to create a Restore Point (or do a backup) error message comes up 'Could not create the scheduled task for the following reason: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x800700B7).' I think (not sure) that these problems came after I was infected with win32:Vitro virus. (No longer any infections showing). I think that my registry may be corrupt or files deleted. Can anyone help please?

    Hi,
    Thank you for your post.
    Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following:
    Note: Please perform a complete system backup first. If any unexpected issue occurs, we can quickly restore the system to the current status.
    1.     Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    2.     In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache
    3.     Right click on this key and select "Export" and save the key to a Flash Drive or other removable storage device.
    4.     Remove the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows”
    5.     Please reboot the computer and check if the issue reoccurs. If it works, please also reconfigure the Scheduled Task for System restore in Task Scheduler.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Project very slow to restore broken links

    Good morning! I have 12 RH projects that I work on weekly. A
    lot of updates come from Word files and over the course of the week
    the .cpd file in most of them gets large. So I rename it and
    rebuild it launching the .xpj file. I often end up with a number of
    broken links, but they can be quickly restored with Tools/Restore
    Links. Except for 1. This project is a new file that is the result
    of separating it from another project. I carefully recreated the
    folder structure and imported all the topics. The project runs
    fine. But when I rebuild its .cpd file the resulting broken links
    take 30-40 seconds a piece to restore...since there are hundreds
    and hundreds of broken links...this is not good. They all restore,
    nothing is truly missing...but where can I look to see what the
    problem is? My other projects, the links restore like popcorn and I
    can stack keystrokes and let it work. This one is miserable.
    There are no framesets...no video, nothing fancy. This is
    just html text with a fair number of popup graphic images, normal
    graphics and baggage files. Some files restore quickly so its not
    universal....but it takes over an hour to put this project back
    together when the others just fly.
    We're still on RH 5.0 but have 7.0 in the building to test.
    Is there anything specific I can look for in a topic that would
    explain this behavior? I'm really stumped on this one...it just
    doesn't act like the others! The project has 2600 files so this can
    be painful. All suggestions are welcomed! I have a page full of
    file names I notice 'hang'...but when I look at them I don't see
    anything different. ???

    As long as you are familiar with the concepts of HTML/XML
    coding it's really easy. If you aren't, it'll look a little scary
    at first. I'll post some examples to hopefully help. Make sure you
    have RoboHelp closed, and I think you may also need to delete the
    cpd file before opening the project again (I
    think it remembers some of this stuff and will wipe out your
    changes).
    The fpj lists all folders and files in a directory. So for
    example, this directory contains one subfolder and one topic:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
    <rhpml majorversion="1" minorversion="0">
    <folders>
    <folder>
    <name>Samples</name>
    </folder>
    </folders>
    <topics>
    <topic>
    <name>Viewing_the_Log.htm</name>
    <comments></comments>
    <frameset>0</frameset>
    </topic>
    </topics>
    </rhpml>
    If there aren't any subfolders, it should be like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
    <rhpml majorversion="1" minorversion="0">
    <folders/>
    <topics>
    <topic>
    <name>Viewing_the_Log.htm</name>
    <comments></comments>
    <frameset>0</frameset>
    </topic>
    </topics>
    </rhpml>
    The main thing is to ensure you get the tag pairs correct. If
    you are a bit concerned about getting it wrong, re-importing
    (rather than restoring) all the topics "should" add them into the
    fpj files correctly.
    (fingers crossed that the code displays properly...

  • Restore only part of iTunes backup

    I faced a problem with my OS (see dicusssion mobiledata sliders position not persistant)
    With iTunes I did a OS reset.
    Then I had the choice of
    1. "recover from existing backup"
    when I chose this then the bug will be brought back on my iPhone - when finished everything is like before (what seems to be purpose of it)
    2. "setup as new iphone".
    when I chose this then there will be a new and clean environment. Only a few things I had to do manually. Apple ID, Mail Account ...
    But now - all may data have to be restored step by step to avoid to again have the bug on my iPhone.
    As I'm not a power user APPs and things like PDF files or photos were quickly restored from HDD folders.
    What's left now is Contacts, Notes, Reminders and iMessages.
    I do not find a way how to restore them without also restoring the bug.
    Is someone out there to help.

    Apple does not offer any way to selectively restore from the back up. There are third party apps that purport to do that but I've no experience with them.
    Also, Apple is not reading here. Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

    Hi:
    You may still be able to order recovery disks from HP.
    Please follow the instructions at the link below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00707939&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=1841...=
    If that is of no help, then call HP at 800-474-6836, and speak to a customer service rep and let them know you need to order a set of Quick Restore disks for your PC.
    You will need to provide the model # and serial #.
    If none of the above gets you anywhere, you can order a set from this 3rd party vendor for $27 + shipping, at the link below:

  • I can't update and restore my ipod. Also it has 7.5gb wasted

    Hi,
    While I was charging my ipod video (30gb), the cable got disconnected accidentally, after this, the ipod has not anymore songs, contacts, video... anything on it, everything has been deleted, but when I used itunes, in the section of the ipod appeared 7.5 gb used. Then I tried to update and restore with the last update software, but any of those worked and it always showed the same message error (error -60008), I charged the ipod again with all songs, videos, etc and it works perfectly, but there is still a problem in the memory of the ipod. There are 15gb which appear used but there are 7.5gb of those which supposted to be free but apparently contain the same files.
    The ipod has 12.6 gb free
    ibook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I had a similar problem last week, my ipod was showing space used but I couldn't access anything on my ipod. I put out a query here but wasn't lucky enough to get an answer. In the end I reformatted the ipod and rebuilt alll my play lists (a major job) - lesson learnt here was to back up the ipod when its running smoothly. I now use podutil from http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php
    so if it crashes again (or my 3 year old pulls out the usb at a critical moment) all is not lost and it's just a matter of a quick restore.

  • I have a HP Probook 6445b how do I restore to factory settings please help thanks

    How do I restore my HP Probook 6445b to factory settings

    Hi:
    If you have a recovery partition, boot up the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F11 key and you should be presented with the system recovery menu.
    If that doesn't happen or you don't have a recovery partition you will need to order a set of quick restore disks for your PC by calling HP for the country you live in at the link below.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-information/summary/ww-contact-us.html
    If there is a separate phone number for business PC's/notebooks, call that number.
    Inform the customer services rep that you need a set of quick restore DVD's for your notebook.
    You will be asked for the model number and serial number, so have those handy.
    Cost ranges from free in countries such as the UK, to $10 in the USA/Canada, to more than $10 elsewhere.

  • Restore iPad from time machine backup

    Hi All,
    Unfortunately I recently had my macbook and ipad stolen after a burglary at my house. Thankfully I carry out routine back ups using my time capsule.
    However I replaced my Macbook Pro for a Macboo Pro Retina and the hard drive is not large enough to completely restore the computer entirely from time machine.
    I am looking at restoring my itunes to the new macbook together with the iPad and iPhone back ups so that if I plug the new devices in they will sync and (hopefully) everything will be seamless.
    I managed to get the itunes onto the new macbook however the back up for the ipad and iphone do not seem to be listed under 'devices' in the itunes preferences.
    Does anybody have any idea how I can get these back ups so I can sync my ipad? I had photos and videos on the device which I would like to put on the new device.
    Many thanks for any help you guys can give me.

    As a follow up, Axeman I would like to thank you. Your advice helped solve the issue.
    I ended up having to go into Terminal to make hidden files/folders visible. When I then entered the Time Machine backup I was able to see the library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    From here I copied all the back ups visible, then pasted straight into the coresponding local folder on my Macbook.
    Enter iTunes and look under preferences and devices and all my back ups were immediately listed.
    A quick restore from back up and everything is back and running as though there was never a problem.
    Hope others find this useful as well as I am sure there are people out there who face a similar problem.

  • Restore an adress from time machine

    Here is what apple says to do
    Address Book 6.x: Restore address book information
    If you set up Time Machine to back up files on your computer, your address book is backed up regularly, based on the schedule you set for Time Machine. You can use Time Machine to quickly restore previous versions of address book information.
    Make sure Address Book is the current application.
    Click the Time Machine icon in the Dock.Time Machine displays the current state, indicated as Today (Now), of your address book in the foreground, with available backups in the background.
    Use the arrows or the timeline along the right side of the screen to browse through the available backups.
    Select one or more groups or cards to restore, and then click Restore.
    Sadly that does not work. I have disbaled my Icloud as well, thinking maybe that might make a difference. I am trying to get this stright before I update to Lion.
    Any other suggestions? The I have a very old archive, but it won't import that either. Help please?!

    OK I managed to get the VCards off an old computer that was not hooked to the internet, but I can't import them? I can't drag them in I can't import them. Nothing! What gives??
