Quick Survey: WPC... WPC navigation or Traditional Navigation

Are you using WPC navigation (using the navigation.wpc files and external connector) or are you creating iviews and pages for each WPC page?
From what I can tell, the "traditional" way might provide statistics a bit easier, but maintenance would be much more difficult, with much more dependency on a company's IT department. Plus all stats are in one grouping. You don't have to combine Activity Reporting (iviews and Pages) with [KMC Activity Reporting |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/45/74eeda9ba26975e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm](the kmcActivity logs).
Conversely, navigation the navigation.wpc way puts more control into "content authors", but activity reporting is a little more complicated. [I am using the kmcActivity file, but I do not get some infomration that I would like. I have added additional parameters to the Main File Format property (such as users, folders, target urls to help trace where the wpc file is), etc... but none of these show up for WPC pages (but do show up for non WPC files).
Right now, our portal is heavily weighted with WPC content and "files", so the navigation.wpc way with activity reporting through the kmcActivity logs seems preferable.

  • Query on Navigational attribute of navigation attribute

    Hello,
    we work on BW 7.0 but use still the 3.5 BEX. Is it possible to navigate
    on a navigational attribute of a navigational attribute? If yes, is
    this only possible in the the next version of BEX? Because in the
    version 3.5 I didn't find a possibility to do that.
    Thanks.

  • How to merge top level navigation into detail navigation panel.

    Hi All,
    I want to add all the contents of top level navigation into detail navigation panel and  remove top level navigation.I am looking for the code with which i can shift the top level navigation to detail level navigation.

    You could edit the top-level navigation iview and set the <b>Number of Display levels</b> property's value to 0.
    you can reach the Top-level navigation iview by going through the following path
    1) <b>Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Content Provided by SAP --> Admin Interfaces --> Top-level navigation</b>
    However, note that once you do this the whatever menus that are available in the top level will not be available anymore.
    Maybe, you could copy the standard Top-level navigation into a framework page that you have created and then make the change. After doing so, you can assign it to groups/roles you want. This will ensure that the CONTENT/SYSTEM/USER administrators see the normal portal framework and specific user groups alone dont see the Top level navigation..

  • Quick Survey: JDeveloper and Notepad

    Just for interest - a quick survey:
    I've made the experience that it is impossible to seriously work with BC4J and JDeveloper without extensively using a Texteditor.
    Topics like
    - renaming BC4J Components
    - moving packages
    - bugs in the wizards
    - working with more than one (dependent) projects
    forces me regularily to use a texteditor to fix the XML-files by hand.
    Just to know, if I'm the only one who made this experience, I'd like to know I you have made the same experience...

    Well, I never used notepad, but that's because I use SciTE (another text editor, http://www.scintilla.org/) for it. But you are right that all the stuff you mentioned often requires manually editing of the BC4J XML files. Renaming / moving BC4J entities, views, packages is a real pain. On a related subject, why are the XML files not more human readable / maintainable? JDeveloper / BC4J often forces us to manually edit the XML files. Unfortunately a lot of information is spread over multiple files. If you need to rename a component or something similar you often need to edit several files (and don't get me started on the problems that arrise if you forget to edit a certain file...). But the contens of the XML files aren't always clear to me, for example:
    <Item>
      <Key class="java.net.URL" path="src/package/Dept.xml"/>
      <Value idref="17"/>
    </Item>The value of this item (that can be found in a project file) is referenced. I understand this is an optimization to keep the XML files "small", but if you need to manually edit the file it's getting you headaches...
    Another example:
    <Data>
      <Property Name ="NAMESPACE_REFERENCE" Value="3b23c9bc-00f1-1000-807c-0a000a06524b::::BC4JPackage"/>
      <Property Name ="ID" Va[i][pre]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

  • Horizontal Navigation pattern / Contextual Navigation pattern

    Hello,
    Where Horizontal Navigation pattern  and Contextual Navigation pattern used in Portal theme.
    I am trying to do tab like look and feel for Portal Top Level navigation. Horizontal Navigation Pattern has that kind of look and feel.
    Is there any way I can do this one by using Horizontal navigation pattern.
    Detail Navigation:
    I need to make detail navigation  as separated by lines (Padding)
    Contextual Navigation Pattern: Has lines of kind structure.
    Is there any way I can link these two in Theme Editor. Are they already linked to Portal theme Which property attaches to theme.

  • Quick Survey on ColdFusion 10 usage

    G'day
    Hey, this is not a question and I hope it's OK to post here soliciting traffic to somewhere else.  It is not spam though!
    I'm just running a quick survey on people's ColdFusion10 usage.  It'd be helpful to me if you could read this blog article, and then fill in the survey linked to at the bottom.
    Cheers.
    Adam

    Per the ColdFusion Blog entry regarding the EULA, Adobe considers four cores to be a CPU - so a quad-core processor is one CPU.  You can run ColdFusion 10 Standard on up to a dual quad-core server under the terms of the license.  Here is an excerpt:
    The power of a CPU has grown enormously over the last few years and we now see individual core in a CPU itself being as powerful as a CPU. Few companies treat every group of two cores as a CPU and also change their licensing based on the power of processing core involved. We decided to take a lighter stand on this. Our idea was not to penalize our customers just because we now have cores in the CPU definition. Four cores in a CPU is the norm these days. So we decided to chose four cores to be deemed as a CPU.
    What this would mean is, if you are running ColdFusion on a 2 quad core CPU (8 cores in total, which would be deemed as 2 CPUs), you can still continue to run ColdFusion 10 on it.

  • "Quick survey" doesn't accept answer

    On Apple Support Communities (ipad) today I got message inviting me to take a quick survey. I agreed. It had 3 questions, I answered them and hit Submit, but nothing happened - it didn't accept the answers!

    I bought down Quit Time 7 Pro for OSX Tiger years ago, but recently I upgrade to Lion and QT7-Pro doesn't acept my Keys anymore.
    Do you have QT 7 v7.6.6 installed on your Lion system? Are you trying to key QT X.1 or QT 7 for "Pro" use? Are you entering both the Registration Name under which you purchased the key (to include any salutation used like Mr. or Dr.) along with the key? Is the key for QT 6, QT 7, for a Windows or Mac platform?
    What should I do?, pay the full price again?
    Not if the original key was for a Mac platform version of QT 7 and you are correctly entering both the Registration Key and purchaser Registration Name in the "Registration..." window under the "QuickTime 7" menu as described HERE. If you are unsure about either the key or the name used for your purchase, don't have your purchase confirmation email, and the key was purchased at the US Apple Store, then you can review the purchae information by signing in HERE.

  • Quick survey on coding techniques

    G'day:
    I'm just running a quick survey on my blog, and if you had a coupla min to write some code and post it for me, that'd be a big help.
    This is the blog article, and this is a summary of the question:
    Consider this string:
    nz = "Aotearoa";
    What I want is to see how you'd approach turning that into an array of characters, ie: so if you dumped it you'd get this:
    array
    1
    A
    2
    o
    3
    t
    4
    e
    5
    a
    6
    r
    7
    o
    8
    a
    That's it.
    Thanks for helping (if you do, that is ;-)
    Adam

    Yup, once I get enough results. It'll go on my blog though, rather than here, but I'll post the URL when it's done. Probably won't be until next week though.

  • WPC Migration to 7.3 - Navigation

    Hi Everyone,
         We are in the process of migrating WPC content originally created in version 7.0 to 7.3.
         After connecting the Area to the Role I haven't been able to set the top level entry points correctly. I need to define the content below the Area as the role entry points. However when I open the connection and set the entry points in the workset it has no effect. Setting the root node of the workset has no effect either.
         Only when I set the entry point at the role level it ha some effect so if I create a folder inside the role and insert the connection I will see the folder as entry point, the second level would be the area name and the content inside the area would appear as the detailed navigation.
        Ideally I would like to define the content below the area as entry points having them appear at the TLN and then using sort priority and merge id combine the area content with the content defined at the role level.
    Best regards,
    Andrés Acero

    Andres,
    We had the same problem. Unfortunately there is no standard solution.
    You cannot set an area as 1st level navigation.
    You have to define an entry point in a role and the area is the 2nd level entry.

  • WPC / Short URLs / two Toplevel Navigations?!?

    Hi there,
    i have a question. I use the WPC to create websites in the Portal.. also our Portal Startsite.. wo what i want to do is to create a Short Article and put there some links in to other Portal Applications.
    For example...
    Our Startsite:
    Welcome to our new Startsite..... etc...
    Here you can find the New Application XYZ.. click here: XYZ
    In the WPC i create a new LINK in the Article with the Short URL of the App.. looks like:
    https://portal.host.com/irj/portal?navigationtarget=navurl://a789a49d67ecebe5c185c013bc67a916
    So when i click now on the Startsite on this links.. the App opens.. BUT the problem is.. the link opens the complete Portal IN the Portal.. so then i see the Toplevel Navigation twice... ?!
    How can i create a link on a website in the Portal so that the link opens the app in the Portal with only one Toplevelnavigation?!?
    Regards
    Bjoern

    Hi Bjoern,
    If youu2019re using WPC Editor to create your links, you need to specify u201CTopMost Windowu201D as the target window.
    To do this, click anywhere within your hyperlink, click the u2018Edit Hyperlinku2019 button on the WPC Editor toolbar, and select u2018TopMost Windowu2019 as your Target Window.
    Hope this helps,
    Harman

  • Not a traditional navigation bard

    I have to use dreamweaver for a project, and create some sort
    of navigation bar that features a "down" image for the active link.
    I feel much more comfortable coding by hand, and our layout,
    though it does have a navigation bar, per say, it was one created
    by hand coding and is a mixture of image links and text links. Is
    there any way to get the "down image" effect for the active page by
    hand coding? The closest that I could come for the text links was
    to play with the "Active" component in css. I just don't know how

  • Show 2 level hierarchy in Managed Navigation menu(Current Navigation) in SharePoint 2013

    We have enabled Managed Navigation in SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site. Now when a user browses a page we want to show the current page siblings are its parent links in the Managed Navigation. Right now its showing only current page siblings in managed navigation.
    Is there any way to show current page parent links in Managed Navigation menu?
    For example I have a term set enabled for managed navigation with following terms:
    Level1
        Level 1.1
            Level 1.1.1
            Level 1.1.2
            Level 1.1.3
    Level 2
        Level 2.1
            Level 2.1.1
    Level 3
        Level 3.1
    Level 4
        Level 4.1
    Now if a user is on page Level1.1.1 then Current Navigation should show following hierarchy in using Managed Navigation :
    Level 1.1
        Level 1.1.1 -> This node will be shown as selected
        Level 1.1.2
        Level 1.1.3
    Level 2.1
    Level 3.1
    Level 4.1
    Is the above behaviour possible by doing any out of box configuration or using SharePoint designer?
    Thanks,
    Anna Jhaveri

    Ha i was given the same task by my client but they wanted it to be done in client side rather than creating new user control and inheriting from actual control.
    i used Jquery and css to achieve staticlevel 3+  left navigation in sharepoint 2013. first of all let me explain the structure i had created.
    HR department
     -->Level 1
    ---->Level 1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.2
    -->Level 1.2
     (same as above structure)
    all i did was setting up the staticlevel ="2" and dynamiclevel="3"
    so this would make left navigation with two level  and remaining of its sub sites as flyouts
    Part-1:
    so i used Js to convert all the flyout(dynamic class ) to static $(function(){
    $("ul.dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');$(".dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');  $(".static").removeClass('dynamic-children'); $("#zz12_RootAspMenu > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');
    $("leftnavigation ID"> li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');              $("leftnavigation ID" > li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children')
    $(".ms-navedit-flyoutArrow").removeClass('dynamic-children').removeClass('ms-navedit-flyoutArrow');
    by using this script all the dynamic classes get convert to static. after getting rid of classes call "dynamic" and "dynamic-children"
    second part :
    now we have convert all the dynamic level to static (just look wise) but functionally  its behaviors is like flyout menu items.so the following js adds the static behavior classes so it just functions like static menu
    $(function()
    var path = window.location.pathname;
    path = path.replace(/\/$/, "");
    path = decodeURIComponent(path)
    $("left nav ID" > li > ul > li.static.selected > ul > li > a").each(function () {
    var href = $(this).attr('href');
    if (path.substring(0, href.length) === href)
    $(this).closest('li').addClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected').addClass('selected').addClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    else
    $(this).closest('li').removeClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('selected').removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    How above code works:
    it  takes the url path of current page and compare it with the all the anchor elements href ,so when it finds the match it would go insert the static level class  like "selected" in the <li> and "ms-core-listMenu-selected" in the <a>
    tag so  they function like static.
    so i have done it for 4 levels so i had to put one more function as shown above to target and read <a> tag href values for 4th level and compare it with current page url.
    i didn't explain in detail in here, i'll be writing up again on this issue on  my blog with screen captures soon.
    Till then you can leave comments and questions.
    Disadvantage :this doest work if you have anything listed other then Subsites(pages,list,libraries) in left navigation.

    @alexandrudilita
    Welcome to the forum!
    Although you would need to backup any essential data first, you could always reset device to "out of box" state by keying in *#7370# on dialler followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless previously altered by yourself); this would revert to version of OVI Maps pre-installed in device firmware.

  • Displaying navigation item in Navigation Pane

    1. I created a Portal in my 11.1.1.8 Portal Builder.
    2. For that portal, I added a few links to navigation. Portal Home -> Portals -> Portal Builder -> "Administer" corresponding to my portal -> Assets-> Navigation -> Edit on the default navigation
    3. I added the following code in the portal's page template:
    <af:navigationPane id="pt_np1" var="node"
         value="#{navigationContext.defaultNavigationModel.defaultMenuModel}"
         level="1" hint="tabs">
         <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
              <af:commandNavigationItem text="#{node.label}"
                   action="#{node.doAction}"
                   destination="#{node.destination}"
                   id="pt_cni1"/>
         </f:facet>
    </af:navigationPane>
    4. I see tabs with no text.
    Expected: Tabs should contain the text that I entered in "Name" field of Navigation item.
    Observed: The tabs are created but there is no text in them. The number of tabs are as expected. I had 6 navigation item, the number of tabs created are also 6.
    For the text field, I tried the following:
    node.id - displays the id of the navigation item.
    node.prettyUrl - again, the id of the navigation item.
    node.name - empty tabs
    node.label - empty tabs.
    The class of node is "oracle.webcenter.portalframework.sitestructure.SiteStructureResource".  But, I could not get javadoc to see more information.
    Does anyone know how I can get the Name of the navigation to display in the tabs?

    I found the answer. According to this link - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/webcenter.1111/e27739/jpsdg_app_els.htm#CHDCBJGJ
    I should use node.title to get the title.

  • Dynamic Navigation mapping to Navigation Rules

    I have a situation where I need to create a javascript "hover-over" nav. I'd also like to have them define the navigation rules in their faces config. My question is, how do I code the javascript "action" for each nav item so that it somehow maps to the navigation rules I defined in my faces config? Right now I'm just rendering all of my javascript in my JSP. In order to get this to work, do I have to create a JSF component? Will it fit into the architecture more cleanly if I do? Any hints? I'd like this to fit into the JSF programming model as much as possible.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I'm just kind of winging it at this point, basing my examples on some of the ones in Core JSF. I'm thinking my component will contain a string for the selected menu item and a collection of navigation items (display string/navigation key). Then there is the renderer for the component, followed by the Tag class and DTD. Does that sound like the right path? Since the nav is a glabal nav, I was thinking of reading in the structure from XML once, and not have all of the menu items in the JSP as child tags. I am still a bit confused as to how I will hook the action of the menu click to my backing bean action. Any help would be appreciated.
