Quick Switch Between Mic & Speakers?

I prefer recording sections through an external mic and then listening to the recording from the main speakers in the computer. Is there a shortcut for doing this?
Every time I have to unplug the USB and hit YES to use the main speakers for audio and its driving me nuts. I then have to plug the mic back in once again and hit yes to continue recording.

When I sing, I sign through a Yeti Microphone. I'm using headphones so I don't record the tracks with my singing together onto one track.
Once I've finished a recording segment, I'd like to hit the space bar and hear the results out of my computer speakers, not through my headphones.
Right now, when I hit the space bar, the recording results play through my headphones. This is a problem because once the song is sent to iTunes, the volumes are completely off due to listening and comparing tracks using headphones.

  • How do I quickly* switch between two Skype account...

    I have a need to be able to quickly* switch between two Skype accounts on my Windows 7 desktop computer.
    Both accounts have high-security difficult-to-remember and hard-to-type passwords.
    Many products have a facility for doing this, remembering recent account/password combinations, or having linked accounts.
    Does Skype have a way of doing this?
    And if it doesn't, how do I request it get one be developed?
    I use a password manager, LastPass, but of course Skype isn't a browser so it doesn't work with Lastpass.
    * "Quickly switch" means without switching computer sign-on accounts and without re-typing the high-security difficult-to-remember and hard-to-type passwords many times per day.
    I understand you're all volunteers.  Thank you very much for your efforts on this.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This can be done by setting up an another Skype client in a separate directory and with a shortcut containing the extra /datapath, /removable and /secondary switches.

    For your purpose you can make use of a copy of Skype.exe of the already installed Skype application.

  • MacBook Pro won't automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio

    I have a MacBook Pro that connects to a LED Cinema display.  It used to automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio when plugged in to the display but won't anymore.  I have to manually change it in System Preferences --> Sound. Does anyone know how to make it do that again?
    thanks,
    Ben

    I just want to add, I have the same problem, and just want to help raise awareness of it.
    1st, the problem only started recently (have been using the Thunderbolt display since it was released), I did not have this problem, and noticed it beginning only in the last month. (since January)
    2nd, My particular setup, includes a hard drive attached to the firewire port on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (so, I am wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with a firewire drive being connected).
         My full setup:
              Macbook Air (2011)
             Thunderbolt display
              Western Digital drive (attached to firewire of display)
    3rd, If I go into settings, what I will see is the "Display Audio" is selected (but no sound coming out),
    If I then select "Internal Speakers," a buffered "history" of all the sounds I did not hear is then played (pretty funny actually) - for  example, if I sent mail, adjusted the volume, and started playing a song.... it immediately plays all those sounds when selecting "Internal Speakers"
    4th, If i then select "Display Audio" - it does nothing
    5th, what I have to do, to resolve this is:  eject all my hard drives,  disconnect the thunderbolt cable, then reconnect the thunderbolt cable, and everything works as normal.

  • How Do I Quickly Switch between Fusion and the Mac Desktops?

    How do I quickly switch between the two desktops? Also, is there any benefit to quitting Windows before I get out of Fusion?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Command Tab will switch between the two desktops. If you don't quit Windows beofre closing Fusion you are suspending Windows. IMHO this isn't as clean as closing it. I have found closing Windows before closing Fusion makes my system more stable.

  • Quick switch between dictionaries for spell check

    Hi,
    I compose messages in English, Dutch and German. Is there a way to quickly switch between dictionaries? (so not 'the long way': edit > spelling > spelling > change dictionary)
    Cheers,

    Set up a hotkey for that: System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts tab, click the + sign.
    Hope this helps...

  • Software switch between internal speakers and digital out?

    I have a brand new Aluminum iMac.
    My iMac is connected to my stereo receiver with the built-in S/PDIF Digital Output.
    But sometimes I'd like to just use my iMac's internal speakers, so I don't need to power up the receiver.
    But when I plug in the digital cable, OS X turns off my speakers, and vice-versa. The Sound Control Panel doesn't give me the option.
    I've googled for a while on this -- it looks like Windows leaves the digital output on even if the internal speakers are playing, so this is clearly a software issue.
    Is there any way I can use software in Leopard to switch between my internal speakers and my digital output? (Or to use both at once?)

    Funkey Monkey wrote:
    Isn't there a software option out there somewhere?
    I don't know fore sure, but I believe inserting a plug into
    the audio output jack electrically disconnects the speakers.
    Yep, totally brain-dead -- but so is the entire analog/digital
    "combo jack" nonsense. It leaves you with no way to monitor
    any digital audio signal being sent to an external device.
    Not with headphones OR speakers!
    IMO, the only workable solution is a USB or Firewire
    audio interface. If you only need digital audio output,
    the cheapest stuff available ($25-ish) should be fine.
    If you also want good 24-bit A2D/D2A converters, mic
    preamps, etc. expect to pay $150 and up.

  • How to quickly switch between straight and curly quotes?

    I've recently moved from a Windows XP machine with MS Office to a Mac Pro with Pages.
    For the kinds of documents I typically work on, sometimes I need to have straight quotes, and sometimes curly quotes. With MS Word, I was able to create a couple of macros that would switch these preferences for me. With these macros linked to an icon in the toolbar, switching between straight and curly quotes was as easy as clicking a button.
    Now I'm looking for a way to do this -- or something like it -- with Pages.
    I know how to switch back and forth using the preferences menu, of course, but I'm looking for something quicker and simpler, since I often have to make this change several times a day.
    Can Automator do something like this? Or is there another way?
    -- Eric

    Turn off the auto correction and you can type Curly quotes with:
    left single ‘ option ]
    right single ’ option shift ]
    left double “ option [
    right double ” option shift [
    If you want the French quotes « and » they are option and option shift |

  • Is there a method or app to quickly switch between staff networks in the same building?

    We have a pretty standard network at my job, we have 5 staff networks, Staff A, Staff B, etc. Obviously some networks work better in different parts of the building, but I find that my macbook air tends to hold onto a weaker network and I have click on the wifi icon in the menu bar, wait for it to look for networks then click on the appropiate network. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a method or an app that makes it a little quicker for me to switch between these network. Maybe something similar to having network locations set. Thanks in advance.

    You might almost achieve your goal simply by requiring password on wake from sleep. the password prompt will have an option there to switch users.
    If you truly want to make it automatic,
    it's possible but a bit tricky.
    first download and install [Apple fast user switching applet|http://www.apple.com/applescript/accountswitcher/index.html]. install it on account of user 2 and set it up to switch to user 1 when you run it. call it, say, userswitcher.app and save it for example in user2 documents folder.
    next, copy and paste the following into text editor. format it as plain text and save it as userswitcher.sh in Documents folder as well.
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #ADD8E6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    #!/bin/bash
    idl=$"`ioreg -c IOHIDSystem | awk '/HIDIdleTime/ {print int($NF/1000000000); exit}'`"
    wt=$3600
    if [ $idl -gt $wt ]; then
    open /users/$USER/documents/userswitcher.app
    fi</pre>
    in the above wt is the wait time before switching and it's currently set to 3600 seconds (1 hour). adjust that as needed.
    next make the script unix executable by running the following terminal command
    chmod 755 ~/Documents/userswitcher.sh
    Finally, download and install [Lingon|http://tuppis.com/lingon> and make a launch daemon to run the above script every minute.

  • How to Quickly Switch between redaction Codes in Adobe Pro?

    Is there a way that I can put my most heavily used redaction codes in the toolbar so that I can just click once to switch between redaction codes? It takes too much time to open redaction properties or to right click the redaction box and remove codes. Every time you right click and try to remove a code, the pop up box disappears and you have to right click again to add the code you want.
    Is there some way to quickly switch without all the extra clicks?  When you have thousands of pages to go through, all these extra clicks really slow you down.
    Please help.

  • Quickly switching between languages

    I wanted to know if there were keyboard shortcuts available to switch between languages quickly. I'm taking a foreign language class that requires that certain things be typed in the native foreign language. I find it a bit of a hassle to go over to the flag icon on the upper right to switch between languages (I switch in and out of English and the foreign language alot, especially when I need to research online). Any advice?

    Cmd-Space and Cmd-Option-Space are the standard keyboard commands for cycling forwards and backwards through the enabled languages.
    You can change the keys through System Preferences -> International -> Input Menu

  • How to quickly switch between speech bubble and highlight text in pdf viewer in Maverics.  Can now only use menu to change to speech bubble in Maverics (Tool Icon gone since Lion and no shortcut listed)

    I use Preview to mark up student assignments, switching between the speech bubble and highlight markup tools.  The speech bubble is not on the toolbar since Maverics upgrade.  It also have no shortcut, which means navigating the menu every time since the Text shortcut, under which the speech bubble is now located does not remember the previously selected item and always reverts to plain text.
    From a usability point of view, for me this is a massive step backward since the Lion version...
    Or is there some hidden magic that will let me switch between these tools without having to navigate the menu everytime...
    Neal

    100% agreed with this. The new interface is far too bulky, Even on my gaming computer's massive 21inch monitor, it's nearly impossible to keep up with my chat group of 23+ people. I constantly have to scroll back up to read messages, making it furstrating and inconveniant. And now that the update is being forced on all of them, they're complaning of the same issues. Like said previously, these are full computers, Not bloody tablets or cell phones, but even then the new skype's even more useless on my Venue8 Pro tablet, I get to see a whole 3 messages at a time (And don't get me started on the Win8 Skype app). And what made it worse, MS has removed all previous versions of skype from the internet. THEN even when I managed to get my hands on an old version, I can only log it in once before it kicks me off and gives me a worthless error message, "Skype Can't Connect". (But seriously, what happened to giving us error codes guys? Advanced users like myself want to be able to fix the issue ourselves!) MS, I'm sorry but, you need to stop fixing things that are not broken. I'm wasing my time trying to correct this now, and I really don't apreciate that. What happened to quality control and testing?

  • Any key to quickly switch between controllers in Piano Roll?

    in the LPX PIano Roll, can we use key commands or ipad Remote app to quicly switch between different midi controllers? Like switch between modulation/foot control, etc.

    I too was looking to do this.  There seem to be multiple commands, one of them is Shift+Command + Arrow (Right or Left).  For those people not sure what kappy was getting at, just download bettertouchtools (Free) and setup a new shortcut after adding the app safari, under the custom keyboard shortcut is where you would type in the version of the command to change between tabs that you want to add.  Great tip kappy!

    In iTunes 10, the button to switch speakers was in the bottom right corner, now I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where it is, or if for some reason they removed this feature?!

  • How to switch between messages in the BlackBerry Hub

    With the release of BlackBerry 10 version 10.1, we’ve added a new gesture to the BlackBerry Hub that allows you to quickly switch between your next and previous messages. It’s simple: while viewing a message drag your finger from the left to the right and in one continuous motion swipe up or down.
    For example, in the following screenshot you’ll notice I am viewing ‘Test 08”. To get to the next message, “Test 09”, all I need to do is swipe from left to right (red arrow) followed by swiping up (green arrow) in a single motion. To switch to the previous message, “Test 07”, I complete the same gesture, but swipe down instead (blue arrow).
    Tip: Using a BlackBerry Q10 or Q5? On top of using this gesture to switch between messages, you also have the option of pressing the N key to view your next message, or the P key to view a previous message.
    If this gesture doesn’t appear to be working on your device, verify you are using BlackBerry 10.1.0.4181 or later by going to Settings > About and reviewing the OS Version field. If the OS Version is lower than 10.1.0.4181, check for updates by going to Settings > Software Updates.
    For more details about the availability of BlackBerry 10.1, check out Inside BlackBerry’s post on BlackBerry 10 Software Updates.

    I would set up a variable before you get to that node, lets call it $EmpID and assign to it the value of the prompt you want to play lets say 12345 which would be the library promptID. It will then play prompt, get digits, and once you validate if it goes through the expression that flags it as invalid, in that node re-declare the variable, but this time give it the value of the new prompt you want to play, then sent it back to the node which will then play the new prompt and collect the digits.
