Quick Test Professional Quality Center Add-In

Trying to install Quick Test Profession through the QualityCenter 10 web application. Every time I click to run the .exe file, I am presented with the error message "Microsoft Visual C++ Run-time Components is missing on this machine, Please install all missing prerequisites and run this installation again" However I cannot find the file this message is referencing anywhere on Microsoft’s downloads page. Can anyone point me in the direction of this download?

Quick Test Professional

I have an issue when Quick Test Professional is running and I try to save or print and Excel or .pdf file, Excel and Adobe freeze up. This also happens when I am in Quality Center and a script calls Quick Test Professional to be opened and a file to be saved. Any help in resolving this issue would be very much appreciated.

New to Quick test - Looking for help with creating a simple test (went through the tutorial no luck at the end running my test) I have tried to create a New test click the record the open a browser click on fields to login then stop recording.
I does not record my steps??
Anyone with a quick simple step by step example so I can see it work?

Error when starting Mercury Quicke Test Professional

Hi,
This is a common problem if scripting is disabled either on server or on ur sapgui client.
for enabling at server got rz11 tcode and enter sapgui/user_scripting profile and enable scripting there.
Refer my sdn weblogs which shows minimum config for QTP and ECATT and also how to create and run the scripts.

Test case
A test case is a set of conditions or variables under which a tester will determine if a requirement or use case upon an application is partially or fully satisfied. It may take many test cases to determine that a requirement is fully satisfied.
Test cases are often incorrectly referred to as test scripts. Test scripts are lines of code used mainly in automation tools.
Test script
A test script is a short program written in a programming language used to test part of the functionality of a software system. A written set of steps that should be performed automatically can also be called a test script, however this is more correctly called a test case.
Any test that is written as a short program is regarded as an automated test. Test scripts written as a short program can either be written using a special manual functional GUI test tool or in a well-known programming language (such as C++, C#, Tcl, Expect, Java, Perl, Python, or more recently, Ruby). Automated test tools can test many areas of system functionality such as the user interface, performance of the system, the system code and the requirements.
Automated testing has the advantage over manual testing in that it is easily repeatable, and thus is favoured when doing regression testing. This however is not always the case as automated tests may be poorly written and can break during playback. Since most systems are designed with human interaction in mind, it is good practice that a human tests the system at some point.
Test Script defines the actions and pass/fail criteria. For example, if the action is "to enter a valid account number," the expected result is that the data are accepted. Entering an invalid number should yield a particular error message.

Query regarding QUICK Test Professional

I have been launching and running QTP creating AOM object through macros.
Though I am able to run test in QTP through qtpobject.Run ,however I am not able to find any method or way to run QTP in maintenance mode.

I have integrated Zephyr with QTP using ZBot interface and I am able to execute the batch file scripts and not able to execute the sigle script direct from zephyr by launching the QTP script I have given the path like "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\cmdrv.exe" "D:\AutomationTesting\Scripts\ef\ef.usr" here the qtp script is place in D folder in local drive and I am trying to call the script but not able to execute.
when I am trying to execute the scripts or multiple scripts using batch file and able to execute the batch file scripts , below is the path for batch file
"D:\QTPTest\RunTestsDRAFT1.bat -run"
can anyone please look into this and do the needful.

HP Quality Center Sprinter with APEX

Is anyone using this with APEX? HP says they aren't certified with this environment on their testing tools. They said that Quick Test Professional can be made to work but that Sprinter may not be able to.

You'll need some form of access to get a proper solution in place, one of which would be 2010 Business Connectivity Services(BCS)

Hi Sampath,
First install QTP and SAP Addin with in QTP.
2nd use QC to develop the test plan and then convert that test plan design to Test Scripts (QTP vesrion using settings)
3rd record the R/3 GUI screen of SAP for SD, MM like Create order or Create PR.
Once recording is done QTP will create a script in VB

SAPGuiSession("Session").SAPGuiWindow("SAP Easy Access - User").SendKey ENTER
you can always add a parameter and other customization according to your requirement.

Hi Ujwal,
The Business Process Change Analyser in Solution Manager compares a technical BOM (TBOM) that is maintained within a solution, or project, against a transport order that is maintained within a managed system. The TBOM is a listing of all technical objects, for example tables, programs etc, that are used by the managed system. BPCA checks the contents of the transport order against the TBOM. BPCA then highlights the objects in the TBOM that will be impacted when you import the transport order into production. From the BPCA you can directly create a Test Plan and select the test cases that will test the objects that will change.
SAP TAO inspects transactions to determine the technical information required to generate an automated test. TAO then creates scripting for HP Quick Test Pro test cases and can create business components in HP Quality Center that can be used to compose business process tests.
HP Change Impact Testing allows you to import changes from the SAP correction and transport system, analyse and identify the impact of changes, assess their risk and recommend which business processes to test.

There is a special Mercury solution that requires some professional services assistance but might be able to help you with getting a built-in capability for your eCATT scripts as a new test type in Quality Center. This new test type will give you the ability to:
    - Save a reference to your eCATT scripts in QC (not the entire eCATT test but a link to it on the SAP backend)
    - Run the eCATT script from QC
    - Save a log and the runs' status into QC after an execution of an eCATT script ended
For this to be implemented on your system, you should probably contact Mercury's PSO.
If you like to do it yourself (and this has a lot of work and knowledge involved), you can create your own "home-made" solution using SAP's Standard recording APIs and QualityCenter's VAPI-XP test type to generate a script that will call the SECATT transaction and actually execute it on demand.
Please note that saving the actual eCATT Blob into QC is not really possible since it is ABAP based and has to reside in the R3 system only.

Using Quality Center (v9.0) to automate testing in SAP- questions/guidence

First time on the expert forums for me. Hope you are able to help provide some guidance on this area for me.
Overview is our client is looking to fully automate testing in SAP for patches/upgrades/new developments by using Quality Centre v9.0 (which was implemented for test management as part of upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0)
I am starting to investigate this for them and looking for some answers on queries I have / guidance on whta is required to meet this objective.
- I have read mention of "SAP Quality Centre". Is this different to HP Quality Centre that we currently have installed? If it is different to HP QC do you need the SAP Quality Centre version installed to be able to automate the testing? Or is SAP QC if you just want to do it stand alone without using Solution Manager?.
- To automate testing in QC 9 is the implementation of SAP Solutions Manager required to enable it?
- Are other tools required to be implemented to enable the automation of testing in SAP ERP with HP Quality Centre ? eg for the process modelling (I read about the use of ARIS earlier?) or is the modelling done in SAP Solution Manager functionality?
- Is there qa brief overview anywhere on SAP or HP site that states the steps to automate the testing. eg Is the detail in QC for the transactions/parameters to use for each test or is this in SAP Solution Manager/Modelling tool? Also effort required in the implementations that are required (application wise) and effort required to get tests set up to the level required for the automated testing.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. As you can tell I am coming at this form a point of nearly zero knowledge on how it all fits together/effort required.

I luv solman so if u ask me i can do all with solman itself and say not to go with Quality center
but again it is upto project requirement
it is very easy to build the automated scripts in QTP etc used with Quality center but again bit more complicated in ECATT
its upto the ur decision but if u r gng with manual test case management forgot quality center and go with Solman
So far i have done 5 Test Management implementation including both type of test casees automatic and manual and all are managed with solman
moreover if u get service desk configured in place then its integrated with solman test management whic helps u a lot.....
one step ahead go for Change management.

ECatt automatic testing and solman vs. HP quality center?

Hi!
We are planning to implement eCatt automatic testing functionalities as part of current solution manager test plan management tools so that part of test cases in target ERP system would be launced in tester worklist as automatec cases.
How do you see is there any advantages in eCatt if compared to HP Quality Center testing? Advantages and disadvantages of both?

the error is in Solution Manager. I am defining the communication parameters in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN / <selected project> / edit / Connection to HP Quality Center. I choose the corresponding project in Quality Center, but when I validate the screen, I get the error I mentioned before, even though the communication user exists in HPQC and is assigned to that specific project.

I have one very quick doubt and would be really glad if you can help clarify.
As per documentation from SAP and also IMG screens etc. it seems like 'a project' in SolMan will hand-shake with 'a project' in QC.
Can I therefore assume that if there is only one instance of SolMan (productive) and one QC server alone (again, productive), any number of trials I carry out between SolMan project and QC project will not spill over into other projects in these two systems and thus have no impact whatsoever at server level.
The reason for my asking this - in my project, Testing has started using QC in a standalone mode already. We have just one server. If I have to carry out any tests/ demo between SolMan and QC, it shouldn't impact other 'standalone' projects being done in QC.

How to populate "Expected (Design Steps)" in HP Quality Center Output

I am using UPK 3.6.1 Client version, and one of our uses is to export UPK topics to HP Quality Center output.
I see that there is a column titled "Expected (Design Steps) but it comes out blank. I'd like to add the expected result of each step to use in test script.
When I look at the ColumnSpec.xml file, it shows that this information is not coming from anywhere:

Does anyone know of a field that I could re-purpose to populate that information?

On my OJ Pro 8600, When I go to print a # 10 envelope, it feeds the envelope through and then prints the address on a letter page. I was forced to set the printer preferences to #10 envelope, and within Word, set the paper type to # 10 envelope, set Word up for center feed, and then put everything back to print normally. ON my 6500 all I had to do was hit print. There must be a way to print single envelopes without jumping through all these hoops!!
