Quick Time Doesn't recognize most of my emails that have attachments

When I get an Email with a video attachment, Quick Time will not play it. It says that Quick Time doesn't recognize the format. Until I updated quick time, Windows media player was my default player. How can I switch back to making windows media my default player again?

  • ITunes (as well as Quick Time) doesn't work

Just bought an iPod (Classic Video 160GB) and tried to install iTunes 7.5 (incl. QuickTime 7.3).
Installation goes perfectly well. However, when I try to start the programs, the problems begin.
QuickTime gives me a 'Buffer Overrun' when I try to start the program.
    +Buffer overrun detected!+
    +Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe+
+A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.+
I tried to uninstall Quicktime but this doesn't work as the (un)installation program does a rollback at the end of the uninstallation not completing the uninstallation (even reversing it if I'm not mistaking). Have tried uninstalling it with Zsoft Uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller without success.
iTunes on the other hand gives an error as well. It's one of those errors in which Windows asks you if you want to send a report. If I do, the 'Microsoft Solution Website' tells me that I haven't got the latest version of iTunes, not true offcourse.

    What I already tried:
    -Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes
-Deleting all temp-files through disk cleanup as well as manually
-I have Windows XP, _fully updated_
-Running multiple anti-virus and anti-spyware programs
-Ridding my C:\Windows\system32\ directory of any Quicktime files other than QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx (as suggested in the QuickTime-forum)
-Installing an older version of QuickTime (obviously didn't work because a newer version is already installed.
-Cleaning my Registry with Abexo Free Registry Cleaner
For your information, have never used or tried to install iTunes on my laptop before. I have had QuickTime on my laptop in the past but installed the Quick Time Alternative instead (which I uninstalled yesterday, hoping that would solve the problem).
As I have tried to find a solution to my problems all day now and am not able to find any answers, I hope someone here will point me in the right direction..!! Thank you very much in advance!

OK you need to uninstall AVI and Ace Mega codec pack and you have already uninstalled Quicktime alternative.
Once you ahve uninstalled the codec packs
    Download the stand alone Quicktime:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Now Remove Quicktime using the method here (just Quicktime):
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
    Or for Vista
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305409
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.

  • Quick Time doesn't load.

Quick time doesn't load when needed. I have both Versions X, and 7 installed. I have also reinstalled Snow leopared and still doesn't work. In some instances especiall on Apple's web site, Quick Time will load, but I'll get audio and no video. Other times  a window will pop up saying I need to install Quick Time.
I've also tried to download from the web, and a notice say that it can't install because it is all ready installed.
Quick Time 7 has already been installed in my utilities folder.

Confusing when you give the wrong information.
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
A Mac OS X v10.6, OS X Lion, and OS X Mountain Lion-compatible version of QuickTime Player 7 is available for use with older media or with AppleScript-based workflows. QuickTime Player 7 can be used to playback formats such as QTVR, interactive QuickTime Movies, and MIDI files. Also, it supports QuickTime 7 Pro registration codes for access to QuickTime Pro functionality.

  • After OS X Snow Leopard update. Why doesn't quick time doesn't load?

after OS X Snow Leopard update. Why doesn't quick time doesn't load?

Try installing the 10.6.8 Combo update which contains all the latest updates for that OS.  Be aware that there appears to be no further support for Snow Leopard.

I have AVI files that I need to convert to MOV files so that I can edit them in Final Cut Pro. I am going to use Quick Time Pro for this....When I have the files open in QT Pro do I have to 'export' it or can I just 'save as', or is there even a difference? Thanks in advance for your help!

I strongly recommend you use compressor to do the conversion (if it will open the files - since quicktime will open them, it will more than likely do it.
Compressor allows you to customize presets and save them and apply them to multiple files.  Although the interface may seem daunting, it's actually pretty simple.
Even if you can edit the avi in fcp, it's not a good idea.  Liable to cause problems down the road.

I just installed the Lion operating system, basically to upgrade my iPhone. I didn't realize that my Microsoft Office 2004 application would no longer work. I have been using Word for my writing and I receive most of my emails with Word attachments. I have been using Apple products for years, always touting their reliability and customer service. I am not a techie, I just want to be able to do what I do on the computer and Apple always fulfilled my needs. Now I am told because of some operating system gobbledygook, I have to go out and purchase new software to use Word. This is despicable. I see no particular benefit to using Lion, but I do see a lot of detriments. Apple now seems to have turned into Microsoft, making software obsolete so they can make more money and to **** with the customer. You can be sure that my next computer will be a PC. I have completely lost confidence in Apple.

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files.  Can someone help?  I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

  • How can I find the serial number from CS4 for my mac? I remembered it being on the box, but now I can't find it, and they website I thought to have registered it to doesn't recognize the e-mail I would have used then I got it.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but the website recommend I ask here. I bought the CS4 when I bought my macbook pro in when I was in college. I remember there being 2 serial numbers, so I could install to one other computer. That macbook pro finally died, and now I have a new mac which I am trying to re-install the creative suite on, only I can't find the serial number.  The two stickers on the back of the CS4 box (which i thought were the serial numbers) don't look like that they're asking for, and the website listed on the inside of the box for me to register to doesn't recognize my e-mail (which hasn't changed since buying CS4).  Any idea where I could find the serial number?

  • I have just installed the new version of quick time but my Itunes is still telling me that it needs quick time to play the film.

Can anyone help me fix my itunes? I have the new version of quick time but it is now telling me it wont play my films on itunes because it needs quicktime. Iv tried un installing quicktime and re installing it but that hasnt worked. I dont know why it would suddenly stop working, I watched something on it this morning.

Can you check something for me please? I'd like to try doing a "Run as administrator" on your iTunes.
    Quit iTunes first.
In Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you have a 32-bit Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you have a 64-bit Windows, open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
    Open the "iTunes" folder.
Right-click on the iTunes.exe file and select "run as administrator".
Try playing the movie now. Does it play for you without the message?

Hmm, yes. Didn't notice that. Looks like it's still in development. I haven't time right now to check further, but will do later on and report back.
Camtasia 2 for Mac is the video editor I use, but it's payware I'm afraid. You can download a free, full 30-day trial to check it out though, from here, if you want:

  • Siri suddenly doesn't recognize most of my contacts

Over the last few weeks, I have been unable to get Siri to recognize even the most simple of names in my address book. It is quite infuriating. These are names like Cory or Jessica. It instead finds some similar word in the dictionary and says I have nothing in my address book that matches and would I like to search for businesses with that word.
I tried turning Siri off and then back on, thinking it might reset something on apple's end, but same result.
It seems to be fine for contacts I've taught Siri are related to me like "call my brother." But virtually every other contact name isn't working. Any ideas?

Siri does this to me, too. E.g., I call Nena Smith several times a week.  One day, it said "sorry, there is no Nena Smith in your contact list" which was ridiculout.   After several requests (and blood pressure going through the roof of my car) I was able to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.  After the reboot, Siri again recognized that Nena was in my contact book by the time I pulled up to her house.
Funnily enough, today I called Nena again.  I say "Call Nena Smith" and Siri says "do you want to call Laura Smith?" and I say NO! and Siri says "whom do you wish to call?" and I say Nena Smith, and Siri says, "do you want to call Laura Smith . . . and we're off.  It refuses to call Nena Smith and will only call Laura (a person I seldom call).  I rebooted, but that didn't solve it.
    Another one:  Call Ann Roberts.
There is no Ann Roberts in your contact list.  Would you like to call Robert Jones or Ann Roberts?
Even if I say Ann Robertssssssss it refuses to call her!
What is wrong with Siri?  These are only two of many examples.
And more important, even with humans with a problem, the important question is
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks.

  • Problem syncing photos - iTunes doesn't recognize most of my photos

iTunes only seems to see the photos in my albums which have a .jpg suffix. For instance one album which shows 81 photos in iPhoto, shows only 1 when I select it in iTunes. None of the others will sync to my iPod, iPhone or AppleTV. Do I have to rename all the files to get around this? Mac software has never required Windows style filename.suffix naming before, why now?

I appear to be having a similar problem.
I was renaming all my photos in iphoto by going to my library folder on the HD and double clicking on the file name and giving it a relevant name but keeping the .JPG at the end of the name. Now when i try to sync the photos to my ipod touch, an album that has 248 photos in it on iPhoto now only has 2 when i try and sync it. I have not done any more as there is obviously something im doing wrong! I find though that other photos i have that have been renamed on say a mobile phone and then transfered seem to work fine. Im tempted to rename all my files in the Library and then copy Them onto a DVD and delete the Library of photos and then just copy all the photos back in again and see if that works?
Please help as its so so annoying?
    Thanks
    Chris
