Quick Time Icon

Hi!
I'm operating under Windows XP and I downloaded the latest version of the software.
I'm just wondering if there's a way, under Windows Explorer, I could browse an image of my QT video instead of seeing the typical white and blue logo with "MOVIE" written under the big "Q"?
Indeed, the icons for my MPEG movies (for example; associated with Windows Media Player) are showing the 1st image of it, so at least I know what it's all about... I don't know if I dreamt about that, but a few weeks back, it worked. I can't seemed to find the right setting to make an image appear for the icon.

Isn't it a Windows Explorer issue?
Other video formats, Real, WMV, DivX, FLV might have the same problem.
Perhaps there is a general solution instead of one for every individual filetype and icon.
FYI, Mac OS X Snow Leopard has the feature you want. You can even [play the movie in the icon|http://www.apple.com/macosx/refinements/enhancements-refinements.html].

Hi, I have found Registration in the Quick Time 7 menu but it allows me to fill in the details but not to actually register and install Quick Time Pro. The box at the bottom says 'Buy Quick Time Pro' and takes me to a page to purchase it again when I have already done so. Can you help?

Quick time player problems

i have problem because plugin had error - the broken film icon appears and other problem - i did search for answers for a ? icon on quick time icon it did not fix my problem
i am sad because i can't use some sites that contained quick time
i already uninstalled and reinstalled - nothing happens
i have quick time player 7.13 - this is latest and i have flash player 9 and the settings is correct - why the quick player has problem
and also i have IE7

Almost all program shortcuts quit working after installing Quick Time 7

After installing Quick time 7, I noticed that all my desktop icons and menu icons except for a few windows 7 programs had changed to the quick time icon. When I clicked on that icon, I got the message that quick time did not recognize that program and could not open it. I cannot even access system restore
does anyone know how to repair this short of doing a complete re-install of Windows 7 (32 bit) and reinstalling all of the programs?

Are you able to get through to your System Restore if you start the PC in Safe mode?

Quick time buffer overrun message visual c+

hi there i get that error when trying to update through quick time it tells me buffer overrun error and shuts down. only dose it if i try and update through quick time. any ideas allready uninsatlled and did a repaire install no go. other then that quick time works ok. allso anyideas how i get my quick time icons back to normal seams my Nero PhotoSnap Viewer has hijacked them they all look like it lol.

It's a Nvidia driver problem.. downgrade the driver version.
(i updated to 162.18 yesterday and that problem appeared.. i just downgraded it to 94.24 and the problem is gone)

If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. In such cases you normally have to determine what content, what file container, and which player version is involved before you can decide how to best fix the problem.

I also had issues opening AVCHD files on case-sensitive filesystems.
You can try these steps to solve the issue:
Right click on the AVCHD file and select 'Show Package Contents'
Right click on the BDMV file and select 'Show Package Contents'
Rename index.bdm to INDEX.BDM (it seems that all files in the BDMV folder should be in UPPERCASE for Quicktime to open the AVCHD file).
Go back twice and try again to double-click on the AVCHD file (Quicktime should open a window showing the multiple clips, as expected).

I have a issue screen recording on my mac with quick time player. I have a 13' MacBook Air and i am able to screen record perfectly. But when I Plug in my head phones in to the port I am not able to record the audio.Only just the screen rec

When recording audio with QuickTime Player, you can choose to use the built-in microphone, an external microphone you’ve connected, or a microphone from a connected Apple display. Clicking the triangle icon gives you additional options, such as letting you choose whether to use the built-in microphone on your Mac, an external microphone you've connected to your Mac, a microphone from a connected Apple display, or the option to simply use no microphone at all. The triangle also allows you to adjust the finished quality of your screen recording, select whether or not your mouse clicks are shown during the recording (the pointer is highlighted when you click), and to select what location (on your Mac) to save your screen recording when finished.

I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.

Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.

How do I uninstall firefox 4 and use the previous version. I do lots of work related tasks that require quick time to work and it doesn't with ff4.o.

Quick time crashes and I have lost almost all sounds/video sound capability with the new ff4.0. I want to remove it and replace it with the previous version until the bugs are fixed.

Maybe wait another day because Firefox 5.0 will be released on June 21 and maybe that version works better.

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall and other security software.

You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.<br />

I CAN'T GET RID OF QUICK TIME 6.5 ON A WINDOWS XP/HOME COMPUTER

I have a Mac at work with a T-4 trunk line so I sometimes use QT. But, since my genealogy program only works with Windows, I have a Win XP/Home at home using dial-up. As soon as I bought this computer, I downloaded QT 6.5 not realizing that I couldn't use it. I understand there are security flaws and I want to remove it.
Under Add or Remove Programs, there is no mention of Quick Time or Apple. I downloaded Windows Install Clean Up and neither QT nor Apple is listed. When I go to Start>All Programs>Quick Time, there are 4 options: 1). QT Player, 2). QT Read Me, 3). QT Updater and 4). Picture Viewer. The only place I can find Quick Time is in my Control Panel between Program Updates and Regional Language Options. There is the QT icon.
I can't believe that Apple would not include an un-installer. Rather than spend 4+ hours downloading a newer update (and not sure if it would un-install the older version) and not being able to use it anyway, I just want to get QT 6.5 off my Windows computer.

Hello thehordepvp, type %appdata% in Run dialog box and delete the Mix Dj folder if exist.
then try the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/searchreset/ SearchReset add-on], the add-on backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself.

HT204382 What do I need to down load to make Quick Time play different types of files, like mPeg etc?

I'm new to this site and to my REfurbished 13" Mac Book Pro. I really love this note book! IO wish I had gotten the REtina Display now. I passed on it because It didn't have a lot of storage space. But what was I thinking....I don't want to fill this note book with hundreds of Albums and load my nearly 5000 photos onto it. I wouldn't want to slow it down by having to wait for it to load all the data everytime I turned it on.
I tried to down load a file from a trusted friend, the Quick Time Player icon appeared in the Dock when I opened the down loadopened. Along with it, a message of sorts came up saying I need to download something else to make this file open/play. Any idea what I should get to make the Quick Time Player able to play more different types of files/clips?
I'm just not so computer savy......like most of you.
So, LOL.....could you please talk in simple language if you respond to me question?

Quick Time Player Confusion!

I am confused.
In SL, every time I right click a movie file, whatever the format, and select "open with" I get a drop down menu headed:
Quick Time Player Launcher (default).
What is this?
Below this are listed the other players I have installed (VLC, DivX, RealPlayer, iTunes) INCLUDING Quick Time Player 10.
Is Quick Time Player 10 different from Quick time Player Launcher? It has a different icon in the drop-down list, Quick Time Player 10 Launcher has the default icon. Quick Time Player 10 has an icon I chose for it to assist in my distinguishing between the two (or is it one?) application/s.
In my applications folder there is Quick Time Player 10, but no Quick Time Player Launcher.
And when I select Quick Time Player Launcher from said drop-down list..... Quick Time Player 10 launches!
But, and here's the really confusing part, ALL the movie players I have installed are listed in that drop-down list EXCEPT Quick Time Player 7.
Now, call me old-fashioned, but I prefer Quick Time Player 7.
However, if I want to open a movie using Quick Time Player 7 I have to go to the bottom of the drop-down list, select Other, and navigate through my Applications to reach it.
How do I add Quick Time Player 7 to my drop-down list?
Better still, how do I make Quick Time Player 7 my default movie player?

QT player launcher is an application helper sitting inside QT player 7 which launches QT player 10. you should not see it in the open with menu. it's a known bug that you do see it. but it should not affect the functionality. if it does then reset your launch services database. delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist and run the following terminal command
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
note that this will reset all default programs set to open various file types to the defaults so you might have to change some afterward.

My itunes wont run because it says "Quick time version6.5.2 is installed, itunes requires Quick time version 7.0.3 or above.............
then I tried to update my itunes but the Quicktimer player is failed to be install, and it shown error code: -3
I'm using WindowsXP, I found itunes & quicktimer icons exist on my desktop, but no respone when I click the quicktimer icon. I'm not sure if the quick work or not!?

What has helped others with that same error is to install the QUICKTIME STANDALONE. Just go google it.
You may want to totally unintsall the old quicktime first.
