Quick Time Play Back

I downloaded my camera videos on to my laptop using Quicktime and subsequently burned it on to dvd. I can play my dvd back on my lap top with no problem ata all. However my dvd player does not allow this. Can you help me resolve this so that I can playback using my dvd player

Unless you used some third-party software to create a standard video DVD, then what you created is a computer data disk which few DVD players can handle. You'll need software that can create videos DVDs.
Regards.

If you purchased within the last 18 months you can find it your Apple Store account info.
If older you're out of luck if you didn't save the email that was sent from Apple.

  • HT204382 What do I need to down load to make Quick Time play different types of files, like mPeg etc?

I'm new to this site and to my REfurbished 13" Mac Book Pro. I really love this note book! IO wish I had gotten the REtina Display now. I passed on it because It didn't have a lot of storage space. But what was I thinking....I don't want to fill this note book with hundreds of Albums and load my nearly 5000 photos onto it. I wouldn't want to slow it down by having to wait for it to load all the data everytime I turned it on.
I tried to down load a file from a trusted friend, the Quick Time Player icon appeared in the Dock when I opened the down loadopened. Along with it, a message of sorts came up saying I need to download something else to make this file open/play. Any idea what I should get to make the Quick Time Player able to play more different types of files/clips?
I'm just not so computer savy......like most of you.
So, LOL.....could you please talk in simple language if you respond to me question?
    Thank You all,
    mike

You could download VLC - it plays numerous formats:

  • Quick Time Play on Windows

I created a Mov file for my client using FCP and exporting as self contain mov file DV codec 720x480. Unfortunately he can not see the video, only the sound on his P4 windows machine. I tried all the Windows, Microsoft discussion boards... no answer. I am trying Apple, because of it's high level friendly support.
    Thanks.

I forgot to mention that he played my Mov files last year with no problem. It started 2 weeks ago. We went to Apple site and we saw the trailers with np problem, but as soon as we download that quick time to the desk top... that's it. It plays the sound and on the screen rainbow lines.
We did instal the VLC player which does play my file. But that is not the solution I am looking for.
    Thanks,

Experimental advice (in this particular context) coming up.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

  • Quick Time Plays Only Sound... No Video

This problem only exists on ONE of my XP machines. For some unknown reason, QT will only play sound and not the video from a website. I tested this at Apples website where all video should stream using the QT Player.
Did not work with Safari or Firefox. I hear the sound but no video from all the Apple tutorials for example..
Furthermore, when I click to watch the most recent Keynote, QT tries to open but states that "unsupported media type". Of course, I'm like ***, Quicktime can't play an Apple Video! Something is wrong.
ANY help would be appreciated. I'm quite capable with computers, both Mac and XP, but this one has me baffled....Yes, I reinstalled QT 7.6...Thank you.

The first thing I noticed was that you used Microsoft Word to make your Web page code. Bad choice and sloppy code.
Your movies do not "stream" (they download) so the extra hint tracks are a waste of bandwidth and are not needed in the movies.
You are linking directly to the .mov files (also bad). Many computers (PC's) will simply try and download the files. Each movie link should be in it's own html coded page and should have the proper object and embed tags or the QuickTime plug-in may not work. Internet Explorer requires these tags to turn on ActiveX. Many PC users will never be able to see your movies without them.
Last is the fact that you've used the H.264 video codec in the files. This codec requires the viewer to have QuickTime 7 or the Windows Public Preview 3 installed on their computers. This leaves out Windows 95, 98, ME and Mac users running anything under 10.3.9.
Sorry for all the negative news. This is how most of us learned, too.

  • ITunes 11.4 won't play mp3 files but quick time plays them

I have a huge collection of music files from the nokia store which I got for free (an offer for lumias). When tried to import the music, Itunes refused to import some of the files. They are all mp3 formatted and QuickTime plays them. It tried converting the files with VLC and some of them were imported but the rest won't convert. Can someone tell me why the files won't import and how to import them? Also, can someone tell me how to get iTunes to automatically get the aong info?

Yes, you can change the extension sometimes and it may be enough to make something playable.  WAV can hold various codecs including mp3 encoded material (http://www.nch.com.au/acm/) and changing the extension to a wav that has mp3 in it may be enough to trick applications into reading the mp3 inside.  Of course if it isn't mp3 inside then changing the extension won't work.
I use a utility for a specific task but it produces only .mov from mp3 format material.  It is mp3 codec material in a .mov wrapper.  Now as far as I know there aren't any tools which will repackage mp3 codec in .mov to .mp3 without completely recoding the audio which is highly undesirable.  If I rename the .mov to .mp3 my lossless mp3 editing tool will accept it, though sometimes it needs additional laundering to get it to work smoothly.  The end result is a clean .mp3 produced without loss but it does involve tricking the editor into thinking it is working with a pure .mp3.

  • Quick Time Video Plays Only Fluttering Green and Pink Boxes

My earlier version of Quick Time ran just fine on my Windows XP Sony Vaio. When I upgraded to the new version of I-Tunes and the new version of Quick Time, my movies suddenly played a video image in a jumbled up series of pink and green rectangles. Audio plays okay. I'm told I have the proper codecs for these files. I uninstalled, downloaded the software again, and reinstalled. This didn't solve it. New downloads from i-Tunes and even the sample movie that came with Quick Time play back this way. Is there someone I can call? Help!

The problem with Quick Time not to view Video because of DirectX. Try to disable it. Open the Quick Time player on the menu bar click on Edit, down to Preferences then Quick Time Preferences. When you get the Quick Time Preferences window click on ADVANCE then under Video de-select DirectX and select Safe mode (GDI only) that should solve your problems. Good luck.

  • 10.5.2 iTunes on Windows 7 x64 bit laptop - Quick Time will play videos but not iTunes

I'm hoping you can help, I've looked for a solution to this for a while now.
I store my itunes library on an external hard drive. I completed a clean install of x64 bit Windows 7 on my laptop - all went perfectly. Downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of 10.5.2 iTunes and located my library...the music plays fine but no videos. I opened iTunes in safe mode and it said that I needed the up to date version of Quick Time. Downloaded and installed that...no problems. Now my vidoes will play in the Quick Player but still not in iTunes! They apprear in the "Now Playing" pane but the timer doesn't move - even after pressing pause and play. Can anyone help me please? Do I need to open iTunes in 32 bit mode? If so, how do I do that in Windows 7? i can only find solutions for Mac's....
    Thanks in advance

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

  • After installing Maverick, my downloaded movies will not play in Quick Time.  It gives me the following error "You can't open the application "QuickTime Player.app" because it may be damaged or incomplete."  What can I do?

After installing Maverick, my downloaded movies will not play in Quick Time.  I receive the following error message:
You can’t open the application “QuickTime Player.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete.  So I tried to unistall QT and I get an error that says, You can not delete this application as it is a requirement for the OSX.
Well I did find a way to delete it, by going into the various components and one by one deleting it.  Now I reinstall it and  the message is that this Quick Time is for an earlier version before Maverick 7.  SMH....Now what.?

    Hello, terrygav.
I would recommend processing a reinstall of Mavericks.

  • Keynote fails to play quick time movies

    HI,
I am trying to play a quicktime movie which I added to one of the slides. It starts out fine then the screen goes white but the control at the bottom of the screen shows that the movie is still playing. Some times you get the same white slide when you try to stop a movie while it is playing and drag the cursor back to replay a part of the movie again. Other quicktime movies do fine. And this quick time movie plays fine in quicktime. The white slide you get when you are trying to replay a section of quicktime movies can be fixed by going back one slide and and coming back to the movie slide and playing it again. If some one has a fix please let me know. I have seen this happen with other people using quicktime in keynote too.

For instance if you go to this page again in Safari,
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf06/
and then select "View Source" from the View menu, then press command-f to "find" within the page and search for ".mov"
You will find this, which shows the url of the movie itself.
    <param name="href" value="http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/jan/mw2006/mmw_2006_650ref.mov">
If you copy just this part:
    http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/jan/mw2006/mmw_2006_650ref.mov
And open QuickTime Player, go to the File menu, select "Open URL" the movie will play.
If you try the same technique on the page at the link provided by your client, it will allow you to bypass the html code that may be doing an outdated compatibility check and the movie may play. Or it may tell you that you are missing components (codecs, compressors etc.) in which case, post here again.
