Quick Time Plug-In in Internet Explorer 7

I'd like to deactivate Quick Time IE7 Plug-In. Everytime I've to load a mp3 in streaming (published with EMBED tag) Quick Time starts...I don't want that.
I unchecked all the file associations (MIME etc.) but it doesn't work. How can I do? Thanks

According to reports, this older version of QuickTime Player 7 is compatible with Mavericks and can handle at least some legacy content. I haven't tested it. You could also try VLC, which is independent of QuickTime.

  • Quick Time Plug in doesn't work

I have Quick Time 7.1.5 installes on my Windows XP pro. All browsers are giving me the following message. "The Quick Time Plug-in requires the Quick Time System Extension version 5 or later. Quick Time is available from http:www.apple.com./quicktime"
When the problem developed 4 days ago, I uninstalled and reinstalled that Quick Time 4 times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Netscape, MSN, and Internet Explorer. They all still are giving me the error message.
The browsers all worked until 4 days ago and now the error message is popping up and the QT plugin is not working.
    What is going on?

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\QuickTime, double click on About QuickTime, does it show QT 7.1.5

  • Enable Commenting Tools in Adobe Acrobat under Browser Plug-in in Internet Explorer using

We have a problem in showing commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat under browser plug-in in Internet Explorer.  Adobe Support cannot answer my question and refer me to Devnet here.
Our system is using browser plug-in to display PDF file by Acrobat under > > Internet Explorer (document viewer). The PDF documents have reader extension enabled.
We supposed that if a PDF page is viewed and I customize the toolbar, the same toolbar and icon will be displayed next time when I retrieve a page, only if I select "Review and Comment" icon, and it only applies for v8.0.0. If I do not select review and comment icon, or I have selected review and comment icon but > > use other version of 8.x, my selected toolbar and icon cannot reappear next time.
If my selected toolbar and icon do not appear, I can press F8 to hide the icons. If press F8 again to unhide the icons, all my selected icons can be shown this time. But it does not automatically re-appear if I open another documet viewer.
Kindly note that all PDF files have reader extension enabled, and only Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional is used in client PC. There is no Adobe Reader in the PC. The PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). The user has comment rights since the PDF file has reader extension and Acrobat 8.0.0 is used. User has no problem in mark-up the PDF files, but has problem in showing the selected tools.
    OS: Windows 2000 SP4
    Browser: IE 6.0 SP1
    Acrobat version: Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional
    PDF version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
    Steps to produce the problem.
    1. Scan paper document and create a batch of PDF files (one page per file)
    2. Enable reader extension for all PDF files by LifeCycle.
    3. Put the PDF files into a web based interface, entering a page number will open a new web browser which interface the browser plug-in and display the content of the imaged PDF file by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
    4. Open a page. It only show a few icons on toolbar (see a.png).
    5. Select the commenting icons to be shown (do not enabled in "review and comment)".  The icons will be shown.
    6. If the browser is closed, then use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools cannot be shown (same as a.png attached in my previous email).
    7. Select "review and comment" tool. (see b.png attached in my previous email)
    8. The selected tools are shown again (see c.png attached in my previous email).
    9. Close the browser, use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools are still here.
    10. Unselect "review and comment", the selected tools will be hidden next time when a page is opened by the web interface.
    11. Close the browser, and open a new page in web interface, the PDF file will be shown, and the selected icons are hidden.
    12. Press F8 to hide icons, all tools are hidden.
    13. Press F8 to unhide icons, all selected tools that are not shown in step 11 are shown again
    14. If Acrobat 8.0.0 is patched or updated, "review and comment" tool has no effect in "memorizing" the selected tools.

That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes.

  • How to automatically disable Java Plug-in in Internet Explorer

I was wondering if it was possible to automatically disable/enable the Java Plug-in in Internet Explorer 6 Advanced Options (using JavaScript or script code in the html page for instance)...
    Any clues????

You can use a command line parameter when intalling the SUN plugin to automatically enable it for IE: IEXPLORER=1.
I'm not sure how to supply command line parameters if you aren't running the instal from the command line though....

  • How to automatically allow blocked plug-in in Internet Explorer

    Hi,
I'm using an 'easy rotator' slideshow plug in on the home page of my site i'm building which works fine in chrome but gets blocked when I preview it in Internet Explorer unless i click 'Allow blocked content'. Is there anyway to bypass this block and have it apppear automatically to viewers as it does in chrome?
    Thank you.

In a word... No. It's an end user setting to allow ActiveX and javascript content.
Let's say for a moment that you COULD disable the script warning in IE with code in your page... An unsuspecting surfer using IE hits your site and the warning is disabled without their knowledge or consent. THEN they accidentally stumble onto a phishing site, and all of their business banking information is sent to an ID thief and they're cleaned out. It may take a while to trace the cause but if they do and discover that your page was the source... guess who's liable for that because of a slideshow?

  • Adobe Access plug in for Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8

Is Adobe Flash Access (DRM) built into Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8? If so, what is the best way to remove the Flash Access DRM plugin on Windows 8 (using IE 10)? In the past, I would have just removed the NativeCache and APSPrivateData2 folders from the AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Flash player folder. However, if I do that on Windows 8, and try re-install the Flash Access plugin by playing a Flash Access encrypted video, I encounter alot of problems trying to play back a Flash Access encrypted video in Metro mode with IE. Does IE use the same Access plug in for both modes (Desktop and metro)?

Hi Hiroshi, thanks for the help. I'm trying to test that my video player will download the Adobe DRM plugin if its not already present on the system. I've had to do this with previous versions of Windows, and I wanted to make sure the same functionality worked on the new Windows 8 64bit tablet. When I did this on the tablet (removed the DRM plugin from the AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Flash player folder), and played an Adobe Access protected video in IE on the desktop mode, the expected behaviour occured, i.e. the browser downloaded the DRM plugin, and playback continued. However, if I then go to play back and Adobe Access protected video on IE in Metro mode, the video doesn't playback. it seems to get stuck trying to download the plugin, even tough its already been downloaded and re-installed on the system, and the video won't play.
So I was just wondering, now that Flash is built into IE 10 on Windows 8, is Adobe Access also built in (does the user ever need to download the DRM plugin on Windows 8)? And also, is there any reason that IE in metro mode would have trouble using an Adobe Access DRM plugin that was downloaded by IE in desktop mode on Windows 8? The Flash Player version is 11,3,376,12
    Thanks again

  • Anything that is viewed by a "quick time" plug in shows only the broken icon .

Whether it's a photo Emailed by a friend, all the greeting cards on the American Greetings web site, etc. Very frustrating! Doesn't happen if I access sites via I. Explorer. I've turned off ad-block. Still happens. How do I fix this?!

I got it working. held the play and menu buttons down to reset it then I as it was starting I held down the << + select + >> and used the self diagnostics. All the tests passed, but still didn't show up on computer. I happen to have a dock connector cable with both usb and firewire ends, so I plugged it in via usb and in the self diagnostics menu I selected USB disk. My computer actually recognized it!!! I formated the disk using Disk Utility. Ejected it and plugged it back in via firewire. It loaded! Then I used iPod updater in utilities folder and did a restore. I ejected it and did a reset (play and menu button) and when it came up it asked me to plug in the dock connector. After I did the it came up like normal. I went ahead and used disk utility to verify disk and it looked ok.

  • QuickTime Plug-In For Internet Explorer

Hi Everyone ... I'm having a slight problem here. I want the QT plug-in for IE to be disabled. The reason being is that I get sent a lot of links (just links) for work and when I click on them the plug-in plays the file. This becomes a problem because I need to save these to my hard drive, that is not allowed in the plug-in. Before installing QT / itunes 7 a box would pop up and let me select 'open' or 'save as'. How do I get back to this way?

It sounds like what you are trying to do is bypass the purchase of the "Pro" upgrade.
Web authors get to "control" their content any way they wish. If they choose the QuickTime plug-in to enable this "control" you'll either have to purchase the Pro upgrade (this doesn't mean you'll automatically be able to save their work) or find other methods to "borrow" their content.
Anyone can find the "source" to QT content by simply viewing the html source code. Open these files in your browser and use its "Save" menu to keep a local copy.
    Here is the drill:
If the file "directly" links to a QT content file (or something it can open) you can open the file in your browser. Once the download is complete you can use the browser to "save" the file.
Works for any browser and any file format QuickTime understands.
Many Web authors prevent saving by either disabling the source (I do) or preventing "right-click" (kioskmode="true"). If they don't want you to use the file it is very easy for them to prevent you from saving a file.
Learn how to "read" the html code of a page. You can "borrow" nearly any file.

  • Plug-in PDF, Internet Explorer, unable to open a pdf file from web site. Question mark

    Hello,
A computer where Acrobat 9 Standard and Acrobat Reader 9 have been installed.
When I try to read a pdf file from a web site and read it in IE, I get a popup whith a question mark and no text.
The pdf file is not open.
I have try to reinstall the last reader but the problem is not solved.
    Thanks for your help.
    fabrice

Any ideas how to solve this issue?
Try using Protected Mode Off.  Then you will be at the same level of security that those other programs are running at.  You could also try elevating the iexplore.exe task.  That would turn off Protected Mode in that task automatically but then
you would be running also with Administrator level authority which might be excessive.

  • Why does my quick time plug in which is up to date keep crashing on FUBAR?

I have downloaded, installed, uninstalled and everything else I can think of and still my Quicktime plugin keeps crashing on Fubar.com What I want to know is why and how to fix it. This is not just my problem but the problem of many many fubar users.
You are losing fans and people are turning to other browsers. I like using FF but if it doesn't do what I want why should I use it and other browsers?

This is the video and audio file formats Quicktime supports
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT3775
The open source Perian project has stopped, they used to provide a System Preference pane that would add additional codecs to Quicktime.
So now for playback you will need to use open source VLC, and perhaps some other programs to convert the video and audio files into formats that Quicktime will support if your planning on editing the files in iMovie, etc.
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
Since the inception of OS X 10.7 and the MacAppStore basically not allowing OpenSource software (all MAS software has to be copy protected) it seems Apple and Mac's are consistantly being forgotten now by the Open Source community.
Gone are the reference links to Apple on Slashdot, gone are great programs like Perian and AppleJack, gone is a VLC version for OS X on the front page, now it's hidden on another page and likely not being updated much anymore.
So I don't know how much longer VLC is going to work on 10.7, it's for 10.5 and later.

  • Since updating to F4, I cannot get my home page to open with my att Yahoo! mail? I have to log in each time which is very annoying. Also, I've had my Quick Time plug in crash. It is also slower. How can I get my 3.6 back?

Also, I no longer have McAfee security site.

Someone recently noted a problem staying logged on the Huffington Post since it became connected with AOL. The workaround for that is to change your connection setting here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network
Click the "Settings" button and choose either "No Proxy" or "Use System Settings" option, and OK the change.
Not sure whether Washington Post could be affected by that same setting.
In reviewing your extensions, I'm puzzled that you have both DoNotTrackMe and SavvyConnect. The first one seems to aggressively block certain communications with websites (potentially affecting functionality) while the second one seems to report on your browsing habits (they better pay well is all I can say). Have you tried disabling both of those to see whether that has any effect?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

  • Why do I have 7 Plug-In files for Quick Time

I have 7 Quick Time plug-in files, some appear to be duplicates....do I need them all or can I delete the copys?

Best not to delete any. Seven sounds right, from memory. Different plugins handle different file formats in Firefox, Chrome, safari and other non-ActiveX-based browsers.

  • In chat everytime I recieve a message I get an error message saying Quick Time crashed.

I play on a websit called FUBAR.com. I have a private chat box and anytime I receive a message, I get an error message bar at the top of my screen that reads "The Quick Time Plug-In has Crashed" and to the right are 2 options to RELOAD the page or SUBMIT crash report. I have done both with no solution. I have uninstalled FireFox and reinstalled it, disabled add ons, installed all plug in and windows updates. This only happens when using Mozilla FireFox it doesn't happen in Internet Explorer. I must have a solution or I won't want to use FireFox until there is a fix. What do I do? Please

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly
