Quick time system extension needed???

daily error message
QuickTime plug-in requires QuickTime System extension version 5 or later
Couple months ago upgraded to QT7 began getting error message
Yes,many times I deleted and reinstalled QT, then was told if I loaded Itunes it would correct problem.
It did not! Don't know if I truly have a problem or an error message than won't quit.
Any ideas would be appreciated.  I am using xp #3 os.   thx

When I start Encore I always receive a warning that I do not have Quicktime installed
Since I do not use QT in any way, I ignore the warning and Encore works just fine
I also do not use menus from AE, so there MAY be something to look at
Does Encore work properly if you use one of the built-in menus?

i am having problems exporting my time lapses from quick time pro i need to save my files as photo jpegs but the standard video compression window will not open fully, it just keeps my mac (old 1.6Ghz 2.5 GB sdram G5 still good for most stuff i need) spinning for ever but i can see compression type H.264 selected and the other setting but i can not select any other options as it still thinking but never opens! why is this happening how do i get round it?
my work flow is: 300 images shot on a 5d mark II medium jpegs opened in Light Room cropped to 16:9 then exported and opened in quick time i can save a .mov H264 giving me files sizes of 14 mb for a 16 second time lapse, mp4 9 mb. the only way i can get large files is saving as a self contained movie then i get 300mb files.
i need to save my files 1920 x 1080 photo jpeg codec as i want HD quality.
i am sure there is a simple way round this?
    thanks guys!

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?

  • How to Fix the following Encore Error: "Quick Time system error: number = -1"?

Has anyone seen this error before in Encore? Quick Time system error: number = -1 How do you fix it? I get it while burning a DVD. I have the latest version of Encore and the menu I am using was exported from After Effects.

  • Making a Quick Time for Export needs no rendering?

Is it true that when you Export a Sequence as a Quick Time you don't need to render, that it renders itself?  That's what someone told me.  That would save me hours of lost time!  Thank you in advance.

No...rendering happens as it exports. It'll render the frame, then export the frame.  It will not save any time at all. IN fact, in some cases, it adds time.  Do a test.  2 min sequence...unrendered.  Time it...render, then export.  And then undo the renders...and just export.  It will take the same amount of time.
The best part about rendering and then exporting is that you now have a rendered sequence you can play back.  If you just export...the renders only appear in the exported file.

  • System extension 5 or later

How can I get rid of the message I constantly get that says: "The Quick Time plug in needs Quick Time system extension 5 or later." I uninstalled the old version and re-installed the latest, but I can't get rid of this pop-up. I use Windows XP, SP3. It comes up in both browsers, Firefox and Outlook. Thanks for listening, Bill

I searched this site and saw somebody else had the same problems. Sorry, I am a message board novice. I followed the advice posted in that thread and it seems to have worked.
    Thanks!

  • Quick Time Plug in doesn't work

I have Quick Time 7.1.5 installes on my Windows XP pro. All browsers are giving me the following message. "The Quick Time Plug-in requires the Quick Time System Extension version 5 or later. Quick Time is available from http:www.apple.com./quicktime"
When the problem developed 4 days ago, I uninstalled and reinstalled that Quick Time 4 times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Netscape, MSN, and Internet Explorer. They all still are giving me the error message.
The browsers all worked until 4 days ago and now the error message is popping up and the QT plugin is not working.
    What is going on?

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\QuickTime, double click on About QuickTime, does it show QT 7.1.5

  • I just bought a new MacBook Pro Quick Time 7 icon but how do I get it to work? Do I need to purchase an additional update?

I just bought a new mac book pro. It has Quick time 7 icon on it but how do I make it work? I am a student and have a quick time video I need to play but the video won't play. Do I need to purchase an update on Apple?

It has a question mark inside the quick time logo everytime I click on it
If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. In such cases you normally have to determine what content, what file container, and which player version is involved before you can decide how to best fix the problem.

  • My new PC runs WIn.8.1 plus,..Will the latest version of Quick Time work for me?

I have a recent PC running Windows8.1plus, ..what version of Quick Time do I need?..Will it work?

    Hi robertfromsalt spring island,
    Happy Holidays!
The resource below will explain how to uninstall and re-install Quicktime for Windows if you are having issues with the software.
iTunes 10.5 or later for Windows: Older media files may require QuickTime - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT203459
With iTunes 10.5 or later, QuickTime isn't included when you install iTunes. Although media content purchased or rented from the iTunes Store doesn't need QuickTime to play, you may have older media files that require QuickTime.
    Install QuickTime
If you already have QuickTime installed, you may have to uninstall and reinstall QuickTime.
    Download QuickTime.
    Double-click the downloaded file.
Follow the directions in the QuickTime Installer to complete the installation.
Uninstall QuickTime on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
    Quit QuickTime if it's open.
From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click "Uninstall a program." The Programs and Features Control Panel will open.
If you don't see the "Uninstall a program" link, click Programs and Features.
Select QuickTime from the list of currently installed programs and click Uninstall.
When asked if you would like to remove QuickTime, click Yes.
    Restart your computer.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Why cant i open an .avi file in quick time

Why can't i open a ,avi file with quick time?

    You need Perian.
Perian codecs for Quicktime - http://www.perian.org
    - plugins to add functionality to Quicktime for playing additional audio and video formats
Quicktime audio problems, Perian, VLC - http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9013669 - read note about uninstalling prior DIVX support before installing Perian.
    Also very handy:
VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - general media player that plays just about anything.

  • Which quick time should I be using for windows vista?

which quick time should I be using for windows vista? when I look at the plugins I'm using for Google Chrome Browser there are several listed for Quick Time, do I need them all?

when I look at the plugins I'm using for Google Chrome Browser there are several listed for Quick Time, do I need them all?
Yes. The seven different plugin dlls (npqtplugin.dll, ntqtplugin2.dll, etc) each handle various different file formats.

  • Since loading Firefox 4 popup warns every time Fox up 'QuickTime incompatible need system extension v5 or later, I've got QT 7.6.9.6.9.0 latest download, what's up?

Popup warning steers me to Apple download site but downloading what is there(again)changes nothing. Thanks for any help you can give. I don't quite get 'needs system extension v.5 or later.' Is that a reference to the software extension?(Wrongly, as v.7 is loaded. Plus, it refers to 'system extension' specifically.)I'm not very knowledgeable, but very interested, even if my age(71)works against me sometimes. I do appreciate your philosophy & all that you contribute in realtime, thanks. Sangeeta Michael Berardi
Just informed of 30,000 character limit in troubleshooting info. I have 190k, must have done something wrong. I've got Parkinson's & my shakes haaaave a mind of their own. sometimes.

    Hi,
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader/ctloader.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ctloader
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit/Plugins/cttoolbar.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ct_plugins
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the InputManagers folder.
Move these files to the Trash: CTLoader/ctloader.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ctloader
Now from that same Library folder open the Application Support folder. Move these files to the Trash:
    Conduit/Plugins/cttoolbar.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ct_plugins
    Relaunch Safari.
The Community Toolbar is not compatible with recent versions of Safari.

  • I'm trying to open the latest i-tunes but it keeps saying I need quick time 7.5 or higher

I'm trying to open the latest i-tunes but it keeps saying I need quick time 7.5 or higher (which I do) and I have no updates available for quicktime

    QuickTime 7.5.5 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL27
    QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl761
= New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed =
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  One person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.  Do this manually, not with Software Update.
Installation get stuck at "configuring installation" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2592979?threadID=2592979  - uninstall Quicktime before installing.

  • Why do I need Quick time 7 and Quicktime 10 ?

I have just migrated from iMac5 (2.16 GHz) Mac OS 10.4.11 Quicktime 7.6.4 to a new imac 3.06 Mac OS 10.6.2 Quicktime 10.0.
Some of my quicktime files play ok but others prompt me to download quicktime version 7. Why do I need to do this ? (There seem to be a lot of problems with this looking at the forums). All the files play on the old mac. Why isn't Quicktime forward compatible or why is there no import facility so that you can make your old files compatible ?
Or am I missing something ?

Some of my quicktime files play ok but others prompt me to download quicktime version 7. Why do I need to do this ?
Because your system thinks you are missing specific codecs required for the playback of certain compression formats. In some cases this may be an installation problem in which the codec was "lost" or "orphaned" during the update process. In others it may be a need to update the component to work properly under the dual QT X/7 framework installed under the Snow Leopard OS. You need to check the Inspector/Finder Info or similar window to determine what specific codec is causing the problem and then re-install or update that specific codec/component/package.
(There seem to be a lot of problems with this looking at the forums).
Most of the problems are "self-inflicted" by individuals who, rather than studying the problem symptoms, analyzing them to determine their cause, and then fixing the problems, elect to immediately delete and re-install software -- often attempting to mix components from different operating systems and/or update versions of the software in their haste.
All the files play on the old mac. Why isn't Quicktime forward compatible or why is there no import facility so that you can make your old files compatible?
I am running both Leopard and Snow Leopard variations of QT v7.6.6 and all of my "old" files have remained compatible -- to include MPEG-2 video and a limited number of third-party supported compression formats. Since my configurations continue to work properly, my first guess is that you have an unresolved configuration problem or inability for your QT X 64-bit routines to communicate/switch properly with the 32-bit routines as required for your content.
Why do I need Quick time 7 and Quicktime 10?
Technically, you probably don't. However, as an old QT 7 Pro user who likes many of the QT 7 Player controls/options/features better than QT X's new but more basic features, I maintain both in active service and tend to use QT 7 as the default player of most of my work flows. Still, this is up to the individual. I am in no hurry to rush the changeover from an older but still more reliable QT technology to a more modern, but as yet, less mature and well tested "new" QT technology. In short, I feel it best to make the most of both dispensations during the development of this "new" version of QT.

    Hi morgangang,
Although that message is not listed in the following article, I would still go through it for help.  Things like installing in safe mode may help.
    QuickTime: Windows troubleshooting tips
    Troubleshooting Tips
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
Try running ScanDisk to verify that the directory is OK. This is an important step to take before installing any software.
Try running the stand-alone version of the QuickTime installer in "Safe Mode." It is available here. This can help to isolate issues with background applications, and some driver conflicts.
Make certain you have installed the most recent drivers for your sound and video cards. Even if you have a "brand new" computer, it is not guaranteed to have the most recent software installed. Contact the manufacturer of your sound and video cards for additional information.
Make certain you have installed a recent version of DirectX.
Errors are usually related to software conflicts, unusable files, or incompatibilities. They can also be related to specific hardware combinations, and sometimes the way in which the hardware is configured. Keep in mind that an error message does not necessarily point to a particular cause or solution. Since there can be many different causes for a particular symptom, some suggestions may not work, and you may need to discover a solution on your own.

  • I Killed Quick time (going to reinstall OSX and need ac3codec for mac)

    Hi,
I killed my quick time. I have a video file I want to play (a project I'm working on with others.) anyway, it has 5.1 audio. The video plays, but no audio. I put the file on the XP and still no audio. I played it on Divx player. It says I'm missing Tag 8192.
So after a quick Google, i get ac3codec for the XP, install... and i get the audio on the XP with the video.
Off to find the codec for the mac...I found a file, i forget where i got it, placed it in the /libary/qucktime. and none of my .avi files will play any more, just a white screen. my .mov files seem to work fine. I remove the codec, and QT is still busted.
In reading the fourms here, it seems Quicktime is part of OSX, so there is no real, uninstall...reinstall thing, is that correct? Unless there is another suggestion, I plan on reinstalling OSX tonight. This should restore QT.
Also, is there a ac3codec type thing for the mac?

Ok, i'm getting really bent. I don't get how these played before and now they don't. I'm still not getting it to work.
Here is the movie format: XVID, 608 x 272, Unknown
I went here to get a codec: http://www.xvidmovies.com/mac/
i down loaded the codec for OSX
I end up with a file called: XVIDDelegate and i put in in the root of the HD\Libary\QuickTime.
    Still does not play.
    there is an instruction file.
"First you need DivX 5 (http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/). Then, if you are
on MacOS X, drop "XVIDDelegate.component" into /Library/QuickTime, or if
you are on MacOS 9, drop "XVIDDelegatePPC" into your Extensions folder
    and restart."
So i go to dvix.com, and it seems i have to pay $20. I'm really confused, maybe its just frustration blinding me. Most of my avi files played, now they don't.
    Thoughts?
