Quick time update

Firefox working fine and then suddenly get QuickTime needs updating. Updated several times but no go. Looked in plug ins and Firefox shows plug in disabled. for protection since its out of date. Cannot get around problem. IE working fine so I guess I'll stay with it. IE is crap but its at least working.

for that one, try downloading and installing an InstallShield version 11 engine as per the following InstallShield document:
Update to the Latest InstallShield Installation Engines
does the install go through properly with a fresh version 11 engine in place?

  • ITunes not running after Safari and Quick Time update

HELP NEEDED!!After updating to the latest version of Safari and Quick Time, i got this error message the next time I started my computer:
"AppSyncNotifier.exe: The program can't start because CoreCoundation.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I tried to open iTunes but I can't. I tried to uninstall so I can reinstall but it I got another error message that said I do not have the rights to uninstall, etc. I am the only user of this computer and I have admin rights. This PC used to run on vista but I recently upgraded to Windows 7(x64) and I encoutered the same problem - i could not uninstall/reinstall iTunes because "I do not have permission"
After upgrading to Windows 7 iTunes was running okay until the Safari and Quick Time update.
I need to sync my iPhone and iPod but without iTunes I can't!!!
PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, OH PLEASE!!!!

What a strange collation of errors. Taken at face value, each of the three suggests a different problem. Working on an Occam's razor sort of principle, that one underlying problem is going to be more likely than a perfect storm of three different problems at once, I think we'd better try checking on troubles with administrative privileges first.
Let's try doing a "run as administrator" on an iTunes uninstall first.
Download and save a fresh copy of the itunes installer to your desktop.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now right-click on the iTunes64Setup.exe file you downloaded and select "Run as administrator".
Since you've already got that version of iTunes installed, you should eventually get to a dialog asking you to repair or remove iTunes. Select Remove.
Does that go through without the "Windows Installer" message?
If so, reboot the PC and then try another "Run as administrator" of your iTunes64Setup.exe. Does Apple Application Support get installed for you properly this time?
Thanks again b noir. Unfortunately, this suggestion did not work. When I did what you said, there was no option to "remove". I see the iTunes thing on my control panel-programs window, but it's no longer in the program (x86) folder on the c:/drive. iTunes on my computer is like gum stuck to my shoe. same goes for bonjour. Please be patient some more. Do you have any more suggestions?? I'm planning to get me an iPad but if I can't get iTunes to run properly on my computer I'm having second thoughts about it now.
    Thanks!

Since there is no Mac version of Chrome, it's unlikely that Google is trying to force you to use that Maybe they're hoping you'll write it?

  • Quick Time Update Error Every 2 seconds

Every two seconds the error message from Quick Time comes on stating I need an update. There are two choices: cancel, it freezes for 30 seconds, then the same error messages comes back. When I hit Continue, the next message says it was busy. Then 2 seconds later, the old message wanting me to update, is back. The only way I can get rid of it is to click on the X, it goes away for awhile. It only comes on when I am on ITUNES or APPLE. It does not come on when I am doing other things. Any help out there?

  • Quick Time Update Message

When I open my iTunes, or whenever I connect my iPods, I get the following Quick Time message:
"Some of your Quick Time software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version."
I click on update and it then gives me this error message:
"Information received from the Quick Time server is invalid. Please try again later."
I have the latest version of Quick Time/Quick Time Player installed (7.4.1)
At times I can click update and it brings me to an update window and I update...but then it still gives me the above errors. Can anyone let me know what I can do to remedy this?
    Thanks!

Launch the QuickTime Player and go "Edit > Preferences > Register", as per the following screenshot:

  • New Front Row, iTunes and Quick Time updater

For user that not aware, there is a new updater for mac which is Front Row 1.3, iTunes 7.0.0 and QuickTime 7.1.3.
For my self, I think the iTunes 7.0.0 is excellent, I found it helpfull to categorize the video and TVshow that I have into a big art image with all the titles next to it instead of showing all as list or as icon in previous iTunes. Not to mention that we can buy a full length dvd movie ($9.99).
I wish the price is the same as songs or regular video ($2.99)...lol
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
Check the link above or use your software updater on your apple menu bar.
    Good Luck and Enjoy.

    The Updates
    A. iTunes
I like the new iTunes a lot, but my major problem is that my music videos (from iTunes store and other sources) are in my music library! When I am typing or on the internet, iTunes is in mini player mode. All of a sudden a video window pops up and starts playing (what else) a video. I don't like that. The music and video mix transfers over to the iPod also. The main reason I don't like it (on the iPod) is because the audio for a video is different than the original song. An example of this is, Don't Speak -by: No doubt.
    B. Front Row
I always liked Front Row and don't really notice any changes to it. It used to be a little slow on the exit, but after the update works like normal again. Therefore, I assume the update for Front Row was for the inner workings of the application. No complaints here.
    C. Quick Time
I don't really use Quick Time. I do most of my video watching in iTunes of Front Row because I don't have to pay Apple to watch stuff full screen with those applications. Although, most of my videos are in Quick Time format because it takes anywhere from two (2) too thirty (30) seconds for Front Row to load Windows Media Video files from my external HD. (I guess that IS a complaint for Front Row, but don't tell him. ^_^)
    D. iPod v. 1.2
Nice! 1) I can adjust the screen brightness (to conserve battery life). 2) Quick scroll thinggy (I lack the technical jargon to describe it). 3) Screen has a little brightness while it's connected to my computer. 'Nuf said.
    E. Summary
I update anything Apple tells me to. But I am having some regrets about iTunes. Nothing that is going to make me uninstall iTunes and reinstall it from a CD (say... the CD that came with my iPod). I have sent a suggestion to Apple, so if you don't like the way things are, I suggest you do the same because posting here will do little to get it fixed. To do it, go to the menu bar while in iTunes and click:
    iTunes>Provide iTunes feedback
It should be something similar in Windows, if any of you guys and gals are reading this. Everything else is fine.

  • After Quick Time update .mov files will not work in Premier pro.

I have windows 7 and the latest premiere pro. I uninstalled quick time still not working. Other files work fine however I work with a great deal of transparent background videos and now they will not work in Adobe apps. I have looked into solutions but cant find anything for windows. Please point me in the right direction.

If its not working roll back QT.

  • Quick Time Update showed up & I installed it.  Now it doesn't work.

I copied these 2 updates so you may have a good idea of what was in the pop up window to install
So I did. Now QuickTime no longer functions properly like it was right before these updates and installations. I did it the night they popped up which was the 01 May 2007 around midnight.
    Please advise, help, assist, etc.
QuickTime logo now shows on email where I get emails to listen to an audio sent in the email with a link. The logo is large; a giant Q with a ? in the center.

  • Quick Time 7.0.3 Updates

When checking for Quick Time updates, I continue to get the following response. "A Connection with the Quick Time software server could not be established. This computer may be having trouble accessing the internet or the server may be off-line." I have received this response since Dec 23, 2005.

Same here, I suspect that the update server is just plain broken. I actually sniffed on the wire, and what happens is that a request goes out to
    http://qtsoftware.apple.com/cgi-bin/query2?os=win&train=&qtvers=07038000&lang=de &osvers=00020501&news=full&lastcheck=fffff1f0&check_id=80000000
And the server then responds with an empty answer (Content-Length: 0) of type application/x-quicktime-response.
And that's all that ever happens. If memory serves me right this never worked as far as I can remember.
Ob disclosure: I'm behind a firewall/proxy/web-filter, but when stuff is blocked I normally get an error-message from the proxy.

  • Quick Time Hijacks Windows File Associations Only From Web Browsers

It took me 6 hours this morning to conclusively prove that Quick Time (latest version) isn’t playing well with web browsers on my Windows XP Pro (SP3) machine (nothing new here I guess).
I develop web sites which get their content from local hard or DVD/CD drives (as opposed to from the internet). All my Windows file associations for audio/video file types point to Windows Media Player (WMP) so that when one of my web pages looks for a file type of say .mpg or .mp3, WMP is opened and the file is played. Pretty straight forward and has worked fine for years.
Some time in the last few months (and I now strongly suspect after a Quick Time update) my browsers (all of them….. IE, Firefox, and Chrome) started opening Quick Time instead of WMP when my HTML goes to open any media file type. I’ve checked my Windows file associations which all still point to WMP. I also note that when I open one of my media files from a file utility such as Windows Explorer or my aftermarket file utility (as opposed to from a browser), they correctly open in WMP. So…….. its only from browsers that QT hijacks my intended media player.
In Internet Explorer I’ve gone to “Manage Add-Ons” and “disabled” Quick Time. This in fact causes QT not to be opened but instead a blank web page appears containing only the browser’s little error box with a big red X in it which usually means a picture file is missing…… WMP is not launched even though it is enabled in Manage Add-Ons and QT is disabled.
The only way I’ve found to fix this problem is to uninstall Quick Time in which case everything works fine. (My objection to Quick Time as my default media player is that even the latest version doesn’t reliably play video created for Windows file types.)
Can anyone tell me how to make Quick Time co-exist on my computer without hijacking my attempts to get at WMP from browsers?
The only reason Quick Time has existed on my computer in recent years is so I have access to iTunes. I’ve uninstalled both Quick Time and iTunes till I find a solution to this problem which means iTunes isn’t selling me anything in the mean time.

I'm having the same issue that Quicktime hijacks file associations.
I recently reinstalled my copy of Windows 7 64-bit and have installed basically hardly anything on it. I have however installed iTunes (+Quicktime) for my iPhone and Winamp (and not even loaded Windows Media Player).
Basically when I uninstall Quicktime, I can just type an url in the IE8 address bar with the .mp3 extension and download and save the file there and then. Only after installing Quicktime the browser will open the .mp3 in the window and play it embedded with the Quicktime player.
This is something I do NOT want, and I am really ****** off that Quicktime just takes over this feature without asking me first!!
That being besides the point really because I also cannot find the option in Quicktime's settings to undo this!!
When I go to Quicktime's settings -> Browser -> MIME types
It just shows that .mp3 is linked to Winamp (like I want it to be), but it still opens as a Quicktime Control Object.
Reinstalling IE8, resetting its settings, disabling the iTunes & Quicktime addons, even removing the Quicktime Control Object class from the registry... Nothing worked!

Here you can find an mp3 file to use for testing.

  • I just bought a new MacBook Pro Quick Time 7 icon but how do I get it to work? Do I need to purchase an additional update?

I just bought a new mac book pro. It has Quick time 7 icon on it but how do I make it work? I am a student and have a quick time video I need to play but the video won't play. Do I need to purchase an update on Apple?

It has a question mark inside the quick time logo everytime I click on it
If you mean you are trying to play a file and the QT icon with a quesion mark appears in the display area, then this means the play has reached a programming disjunction and doesn know what to do—i.e., the player recognizes the content but something is preventing proper playback is telling the user it has a question as to how the content is to be played. In such cases you normally have to determine what content, what file container, and which player version is involved before you can decide how to best fix the problem.

  • I can not update Quick Time.  I get the message "a connection with the server could not be established"  I AM connected to the internet.  I have purchased QuickTime pro but can not get it uploaded.  Help.

I have purchased Quick Time Pro and received my key.  I am told to go to QuickTime settings to update and I do not have Quick Time in my control panel.
When I bring up QuickTime and click Help to Update I am told that a connection to the server could not be made due to either the server being down or my computer not having an internet connection.  I am connected to the internet so I know that is not the problem.
How do I update my Quick Time player from 7.7.2 to QuickTime Pro that I have purchased?

Launch the QuickTime Player and go "Edit > Preferences > Register", as per the following screenshot:
