Quick Time Version 7.1.3 issues

When I try to open iTunes on my computer, a window pops up with the message "Quick Time version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quick Time version 7.1.3 or later. Please re-install iTunes"
I went on the Quick Time portion of the Apple web page and tried downloading version 7.1.3, and at the very end it said something to the effect that I already had an updated version of Quick time on my computer.
Is this not the problem then? Do I just need to delete the whole iTunes program off my computer and re-install it from scratch? If I do that, all of my songs will be gone, right? I still have all of my songs on my iPod, so if I re-install the iTunes program, then re-connect my iPod to my computer after I do that, then will it transfer all of the songs back onto my computer?
help!

Uninstalling iTunes does not remove the music from your computer.
Try going through the steps in this article...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Specifically, follow the steps for removing the Quicktime files from the System32 folder in Windows, and also check the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility for Quicktime stuff.

Walk us through what happened with CleanUp, Michelle. In particular, was there no entry for QuickTime in the list of programs in CleanUp?

  • Echoing in Quick time, version 10.3(727.4), (new movie recording)

I have a problem with Quick time. When I select new movie recording I hear bad eching. I try to keep the volume down on quick time which somewhat reduces the problem but its not a solution. I also backed up 10 feet and can still hear the echo. I also have a problem when I facetime my sister on her macbook pro. She hears echoing on her end and I hear her voice breaking up on my end. When I facetime my brother on his iphone I have no problems. I also skyped my sister and have no problems. When my sister facetimes me from her macbook pro to my ipad we have no problems.
I purchased an imac 27" last year after thanksgiving. I'm using updated software version and I have talked to apple care and they have had me go through the gauntlet of options and still no answer. I noticed this problem with quick time after my purchase and apple care told me they dont have an answer and I should try using a head set, which is not an answer or solution. I redownloaded my OS, didnt help. The next step recommended was to do an erase and re-install of my OS.
Can anyone please help with this problem. Its very annoying having any issues after purchasing a new computer, especially with the price tag apple charges. Not a happy camper at this point.
    Thanks

What happens if you go to System Preferences---> Accessibility---> Zoom and tick "Use scroll gesture with modifier key to zoom:" By default control is the modifier key.
To zoom in/out. Press and hold the control key while you use your mouse/trackpad to zoom in/out.
I don't know how this would look for your objective though. I just know that you have to turn that feature on by ticking that box. Other wise it won't work.

  • What version of iTunes include Quick time version 7.6.2 or earlier

I am having problems with another important program because the newest versions of iTunes which includes Quick time won't allow the other program to work correctly.
I need to know what older version of iTunes include Quicktime Version 7.6.2 or earlier so that I can download that version? Will that version work with Windows 64 bit?

I'm not precisely sure, but I think that the last 8.x version of iTunes (8.2.1) was the last one that could run with a 7.6.2 or lower.
One way to check to make sure that an iTunes 8.2.1 installer contained a QT 7.6.2 or less would be to expand the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) into a folder using the free trial version of WinRAR, and then check the version number of the QuickTime.msi in the folder.

  • Newbie to Mac - Quick Time 7.5.5 download issue - be gentle

I have just got an iMac and was looking to Quick Time - I was directed to download the software which i have now done 3 times. I have looked in here at hundreds of posts but cannot see the same thing.
It appears to have installed ok (I think) but when I go to open it ...after the first page I get an message which says 'switching' and it goes to an Apple Quick Time page with itunes, top picks, movies on it, which in turn then takes me to the Apple store -this is not what i was expecting and I cannot get the player to open as it used to on my laptop using Xp...
It will be something dumb I realize but what??
    Thanks

I said I was being dumb - now I get it...it does open but I have tried this url which I am assured works but I get a message noting url is not valid - does the open url box always come up with movie url as this is for a radio station? Or am I being dumb again???

  • Quick Time Take Over and MP3 Issues

I recently downloaded Quick Time Pro for the purpose of watching online movies. I am no longer able to transfer or play mp3 podcasts except on Quick Time. I can no longer transfer them to my iRiver H300 either. Please let me know how I can tone down this programs aggressive nature?
    Thank you,

Open QT Preferences and go to the Browser Plug-in
window. Click on MIME Settings and you should be
able to change the application that is called up to
play the various multimedia files you encounter.
Make sure that the only file type checked for QT to
    open is .mov files.
Thanks for your assistance but I'm still not able to download the MP3 files and have them saved to desktop. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Note, I have removed the checked or green blocks and all boxes except the Quick Movie boxes which can't be unchecked.
As soon as I click on the MP3 file it begins to play on Quick time.

let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Cannot install Quick time 7 on Windows

hi everyone. I am having a hard time installaing quick time version 7 on my windows XP SP2.
Installer kicks off and after 5 seconds, I get messange "another process is running. terminate" or something like that. I am not running any other processes. I even went through MSCONFIG and checked off all third party processes but get the same result.
I could install Quick time version 6.1. without issues though. Because I cannot install quick time, I cannot install iTunes. I cannot use iPod without the iTunes!!! Can somebody please help me out here?
I tried the latest version 7.6 and also tried 7.2 but nothing works. only 6.1 could be installed on my PC.

For what it's worth, at the point the installation fails, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, and Apple Mobile Device Support all show as installed on Control Panel. Apple Software Update has a link on the Start Menu but does NOT show as installed on Control Panel. Is there a way to install this separately from iTunes?

  • Quick Time 7 and Quick Time Pro Functionality Issue

I purchased Quick Time Pro a few years ago when Quick Time was another version. Quick Time is needed for Premiere Elements. With the current  Quick Time 7 comes an issue: my Quick Time Pro will not function in Quick Time 7 because the Quick Time Pro I only functions in earlier Quick Time versions. I either have to purchase a new Quick Time Pro product key to run in Quick Time 7 or run an earlier version of Quick Time to have my current Quick Time Pro function properly. Does anyone else have this issue?

I have not. Historically, the Pro unlock will work for all versions in a series, i.e. Pro version 6 will work in all versions in the 6 series. I got my Pro version 7 at about 7.2.x, and it has worked fine with all through version 7.5.5, where I am now. The current version is 7.6.6, and I have heard of no issues with a Pro version 7 unlock not working in any versions later than my 7.5.5.
Seems strange, but then maybe Apple has departed from history?
    Good luck,

  • .mov file has no video - playing it in Quick Time 7 on Windows XP. Help!

I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Can anyone provide any input as to what might be missing? Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

  • Only movie but no sound in Quick time

I have encountered a problem when playback some of my movies on the Quick Time Version 7.1.5.
The file details are as follows:
    Format: DivX 6.0, 640 x 480, Millions
    MPEG, Mono, 22.050 kHz
Many Thanks for your kind help...

Divx with MPEG audio is a potentially troubling combination. Try installing the Perian components, that is likely to solve a lot of issues:

  • How many times can I download Quick Time Pro once I purchased it?

Last September I purched my update to Quick Time Pro. Now I bought a new Computer and re-formatted the old one, not being able to copy Quick Time Pro from the old to the new computer. Therefore I wanted to download again Quick Time Pro: In the settings window I introduced my program key and then "accepted". It said "Quick Time pro" below the registration line; however, the "apply" buttom was not operative. I checked and my Quick Time version was still "Quick Time 7", not Pro. My question is: how many times can I download Quick Time Pro once I purched it? If I can download it more often than once, how do I proceed? Thank you for your help.

    I started this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2454706&tstart=0
but I'm afraid it's so involved that thus far, nobody has "touched" it.
However, PART of my problem is similar to THIS person's.
My problem is that I have QT on two different drives in one computer; the one I paid for [QT Pro?] and one I got for free; QT7. I fear the free QT7 might have "interfered" with my "Pro".
So, taking your advice above, looking in the "Help" "About" menu, I find that BOTH of mine another "offer" above the word "About"; they suggest that I "Purchase QT Pro"...... so now, if BOTH of my QT's say THAT, then may I conclude that I do NOT have the Pro version? I'm meaning to say that if I already HAVE the Pro, they wouldn't suggest that I go and "Buy QT Pro".... right? Is this a safe conclusion? for ya'll that HAVE the Pro, and KNOW it, does it suggest to you that you could go and "purchase QT Pro"?
    Thanks,
    LarryR : )
