Quick time will crash when opening movies

I am using MS Vista 32bit, with 2 Invida cards. I installed QuickTime 7 with out any errors, but when I try to open a movie QuickTime will immediately close with the lovely "QuickTime player has stopped working, windows will close the application and try to search for a solution" window (not exact text). I have changed the QuickTime display to Safe mode on the advanced tab in the QuickTime control panel, that will allow QuickTime to open but it will clock with a blank display and never open the movie. I tried installing QuickTime 6 and it will not crash, but will not show the movie either, it will just display the first frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just like you have to take care of your car once in a while you have to do that with your computer too.
Repair permissions is a part of it. You have the application Disc Utility in the Utility folder. It can Repair permissions. Or get a maintenance app like the free Onyx.

Somedays firefox crashes 10+ times within minutes, other day it does not crash at all. It will crash when opening, in email, or just on any web site. No rime or reason! Why?

I am not technical at all. I just want to know why somedays my system crashes over and over again, and other days all is well. Each time it crashes I get a "crash report" option, and I always send in said report, but I do not think anyone is checking those!
This has become a real issue and I am very tired of it.

How do you keep QuickTime Player 7 from crashing when opening movie files

When I do this with Safe Mode, it doesn't crash. I'm guessing I need to some how make it so Quicktime uses more of the RAM, I got 16 Gigs, or use less CPU. Activity Monitor shows 87% CPU usage just before the crash. This is a one month old iMac, while on my old one from 2008 with just 4 GB RAM, it didn't crash.

Thanks to QuickTimeKirk on another post, I got the answer. You use qtl (Quicktime Media LInk) files to point to the real .mov files. Then the qtl file will download when linked to on a web page. After the instant download, Quicktime player will open and grab the stream. Even on a PC! Great!

Quick Time will not play HD movies from itunes

When i'm on the road with my computer I like to be able to play my HD movies without having to open Itunes. So i use Quick Time. But with the HD movies I buy from Itunes this does not work. When I try and play the HD movies on Quick Time, the movie acts like it's playing but the screen is gray. The bar on the bottom displaying the time for the movie is going, but there is no video or audio.
Is this a problem with authorization or something?

Never heard of the unit until I saw your reference. Unfortunately, you did not mention which format/file type was used for recording, the application you are trying to open it with/in, or give any indication of your intended work flow, so it is somewhat difficult to know where/how to begin trying to determine possible workarounds here. Can you post a sample file for testing/examination along with additional information regarding your goals?

Quicktime 7.7.6 for windows crashes when opening .MOV files

I am runing QuickTime V7.7.6 Pro on Windows 8.1 enterprise. I have a number of .MOV files I took using my iPhone 5. When I try to open the .MOV file (any .MOV file) QT crashes. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. I unfortunately could not find a Windows QuickTime community so I had to post here. Below is the crash information

This is interesting where I've received video with audio .mov files from a friend with a iPhone 4 to a Droid Maxx. Then saved them to a desktop computer with Windows 7, from the Droid Maxx using a usb cable, and can play them with Windows media player or QuickTime. Normally I can play nothing .mov with Windows media player. They from the iPhone 4 show as Format: AAC, Mono, 44,100 kHz - H.264, 568 x 320 millions
The only thing I would say is administrator permissions which is likely lame with this. I am using MX Player app on the Droid Maxx to handle .mov because Android OS doesn't support .mov
So MX Player may have coverted the .mov or put it to where it could be played in both Windows & QuickTime? Jon any ideas where you are good with these formats?

Pages will crash when opening file?

Whenever I hit "Command + O" to open a file, Pages immediately freezes-- with "File" highlighted as if its thinking or something.
What can I do to fix this? I have to manually go into my drive and open a .pages file to open a document in Pages. This is quite inconvenient and I would like to simply use the keyboard shortcut again.

7.6 Win crashes when opening some files that open on Mac

On XP SP3, I can play Apple movie previews without problem in Firefox.
I can also view certain 3rd party tutorials in quicktime in Firefox without any problems.
If I download the same files I was viewing without problem, quite often QuickTime 7.6 will crash when opening the file.
It's not a corrupt file, as if I try a few times, it will finally open.
These same files have zero problem if I open them in QT 7.6 on the Mac.
I'm running a server motherboard with ECC memory from a RAID with ECC memory, and I have NO crashes with my other software (SQL Server, Visual Studio, etc.)
How can I resolve this crashing issue?

I should have mentioned, to get it to crash, I double click on the file when Quicktime is NOT running (I don't have Quicktime set to always run either).
I found that if I open Quicktime 1st, THEN I can double click on the file and have it open (the one I could not get to open at all).

LabVIEW Crashes when Opening Project

Hey Guys,
I'm running into an interesting issue where LabVIEW crashes when opening a project. This is the second time I've run into this issue, on the same project. To get around it the first time I simply deleted and re-made my project, but since it's happened again, I need to figure out how to debug it. The symptom is that LabVIEW will crash when opening the project (sometimes I can see the "vi loading" screen) without any indication that crash has occured. It doesn't even launch the error reporter, the process just dies. Anyone know how I can go about debugging this?

What version of LabVIEW? Have you ever had previous versions of LabVIEW on your computer? Can you attach a screenshot of the crash?

Final Cut adds some codecs that are not part of normal OS X. If your movie uses one of these codecs it won't play on a system that does not have Final Cut.

Which operating system are you running on?
Try starting the organizer while holding down the shift key. Hopefully, it should load the Catalog Manager.
Select your current catalog and click on the Repair button. Once it has finished, click on the Open button to see if the catalog opens.
