Quick time won't open h264

Hi everyone except jim cook! I have already been to the qt side and no help there, so maybe somebody here can help. I encoded a file from compressor 3. I used h264 and when it was done, I dbl, clkd to open in qt and it closed right away. So I tried to open it again and it still closes qt right away. Everything was fine until the update from qt 7.3 to 7.4 and then 7.5. We try to keep updated with the apps so these children don't *****, but I haven't the slightest idea why there is a prob with qt? And I suppose nobody has had this prob? We are not on leopard so that is the only thing I can think of, but when I encode anything from compressor 2 from my house they play, Any suggestions?
Thanks-B

Well, kinda been there done that scenario. Still no help. I really do not want to reinstall on EVERY machine as we do not have clones. But thanks capn'! Oh! Even when I select it in finder with the preview open it relaunches finder. So weird

  • Quick time won't open

I have the latest MacBook 2,1 (1 GB) and have the latest updates installed. Anytime something is opened that requires Quick time, it comes up with a question mark inside the logo. What gives? I'm not a wizard, just a basic user.

Same thing happens to me. It happens with firefox, aol and even safari. Anything that works with quicktime gives me the quicktime logo with a question mark in it. In the preferences I tried to click on all the mime settings but the bottom one reverts back to a dash and I can't open swf files. I have to use windows media player for those. I thought that that was the problem but after the update that I installed yesterday it happens on all the above mentioned browsers. I go on the bellsouth homepage to do a sudoku puzzle every day. I can't in none of the browsers anymore. Very frustrating not being able to watch clips/ videos of any kind. I can imagine that we see a fix from Apple within the next week or two.
    Cheers.

  • Quick Time Won't Open in Vista

Quicktime Quicktime Pro won't open in Vista:
I can't open Quicktime by starting the application. After starting Quicktime a button appears in the Vista system toolbar, but no window opens. If I mouse over the Quicktime button in the toolbar, a preview window appears, but I can't open the window. If I right click, I have the option to close, minimize, or move the quicktime window, but the maximize option is dimmed. If I run Task Manager, Quicktime is running. I can not "switch to" the window, but I can force the application to quit.
The same issue occuredfter a new install of Quicktime, before Quicktime Pro was installed and since Pro was installed. To Register Pro I could only find Quicktime in the 32 Bit Control Panel while the system is running 64 bit.
I have followed the guidelines on the apple web page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926 uninstall iTunes and Quickitme, re-install and then re-install Quicktime only.

When I click on it, it flashes a message reading, "Please Install Apple Application Support."
Apple Application Support is needed to run QuickTime. There's some information on the relationship between the two programs in the following user tip:
[QuickTime for Windows and Apple Application Support|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2353984]
Is Apple Applications Support currently showing as being installed in your Add or Remove Programs Control panel?

  • Quick time will not open

I purchased Quick time Pro in July, used it successfully to view and edit .mov files. Now all of a sudden it won't open, the error message reads: Your copy of Quick time 7.02a63 & quick time player 7.0.2a63has expired. Go to apple.com......to download and install a new version.
Tried to install an upgrade from the apple site last night and now Camedia wont open either. Any suggestions?

QuickTime 7 will not install on a PC using the ME OS.
It requires Windows 2000 or XP. If you're really using ME, as suggested in your profile, you'll need to upgrade your OS first.
I don't know what to tell you. I don't think the Public Preview of QuickTime 7 would install on an ME OS so you must be using something different.
The "Camedia" software is used by the Picture Viewer software of QuickTime. Maybe setting the association for jpeg's (or whatever your camera produces) to another application may help you sort this issue out.

  • Quick time won't play in safari

Quick Time Player won't open in Safari 6.0.

I found a workaround - You have to restart Safari in 32 bit mode. It will play QT files. Of course this just means that it may make it unstable, but where were we before 64 bit anyway.
I think those Apple nerds should get this sorted out - its been several years since people have posted the same problem, and I am not sure what motivates them, but it would help to get someone to explain the process or at least find a solution.

  • HT3775 I have received an error message that my quick time player cannot open my video as my video seems to be in a mov format, can you help me choose a format to open on my mac

  • HT3775 Quick Time Player not opening a mpg file

I have inserted a disk (video) that someone made for me.  Quick time player keeps telling me that the movie (mpg) file cannot be opened.  Can anyone tell me what's wrong or what I need to do to?

There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might work. If not, you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Do not install both Perian and the DiVX/3iVX codecs at the same time.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give the aforementioned VLC Media Player a try.
    Regards.

As Neil showed another Lion user on this Forum:
Click http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923, download the software, and apply the QuickTime Pro key to it.
    Hope this helps

what's the precise text of the error message you're getting when you try to uninstall QuickTime? (include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • What if quick time won't down load onto computer

Having trouble, Just bought the ipod touch and when i attempt to down load itunes it pops up with an error message that says quick time did not install completely and that itunes requires quick time. that is all the information is gives.
please help if you are able.

when i attempt to down load itunes it pops up with an error message that says quick time did not install completely and that itunes requires quick time.
Let's try a standalone QuickTime.msi install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the QuickTime.msi to do a standalone QuickTime install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
