Quick time X Screen Capture Audio noise

Hello,
I'm trying to create a tutorial video with Quicktime X Screen Capture with Audio on my Mac Mini. I have Mountain Lion.
When I record on high quality for about 8 minutes and then playback when I'm finished, I notice a crackling noise being introduced after approx. the 2min30sec mark. Why does that happen? When I record Audio Only it doesn't happen.
I've tried the same headset on several computers and it is okay. Like I said, there is no crackling until 2 mins and 30 seconds pass by.
How can I reinstall Quicktime X to make it all fresh or maybe downgrade a version?

Actually, I was wrong. The same problem occurs in Quicktime X Audio Only capture.

  • Want to enlarge size of Quick Time Movie Screen

I have been creating short video movies on my iMovie and transferring them to Quick Time for eventual streaming video viewing on web with the help of Quick Time Pro. The iMovies look great on full screen but when trying to transfer them to Quick Time, they only show up as a small window. I have tried to enlarge the picture by setting Quick Time Preferences to 2x or full screen but they still only show up as small when being viewed. Enlarging them once they are being viewed does distort the quality of the picture. Is there any way I can process a movie for full screen viewing or perhaps 1/2 screen viewing when transferring iMovie to Quick TIme and still retain its original detail. Thank you very much

You need a few html "tricks" to enlarge your video playback. Most can come from the simple scale="tofit" tags. This will resize your .mov file to fit the dimensions you set.
Another way to do this (easier now with QT 7) is to set the movie playback to double, or even full screen, and use the html tag target="quicktimeplayer".

  • Quick time pro wont record audio

i have quick time pro. I take a firewire in from the digital video camara to record video..... all is fine I get good video and strong audio levels..... , but when I play back the recording, no audio has been recorded. I've changed the record input preferences for audio and video to the 'camara' as it should be. I've updated to the latest version..., still no luck. Any suggestions.

    thanks...
the conflict was not in the sample rate, but the sample density so to speak. It needed to be set ( in the audio/ midi settings... to 2 channel 16 bit. it was set on 2 channel 24 bit. That's what I use when using logic... I always record to 24 bit if possible ( in higher end things )..... so somehow this has to be manually changed after I use logic, back to 16 bit. And I suspect I cannot run logic at 24 bit and quicktime at 16, at the same time. Somehow.... 'logic' seems to get a deeper priority... so when I set it to 24 bit.... it stays that way in the utilities/audio/midi settings.... until manually changed back.
thanks for much for your help.

  • I have imported videos to my lap top (Windows Vista), from my new ipad.  Quick time plays them with audio, however the screen is black. What is the fix?

I have imported videos to my lap top (Windows Vista), from my new ipad.  QuickT
ime plays them with audio, however the screen is black. What is the fix?

Experimental advice (in this particular context) coming up.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

  • Quick Time 10 or 7: Audio only, no video???

Some video tutorial content I have opens up to a black screen in QT. The audio plays fine but there is no video. No video in iTunes either. Final Cut Express will play the video.
Any suggestions on what I can do to solve this dilemma?
    Thanks.

"Some video tutorial content" is a pretty vague description. There must be hundreds of proprietary video codecs used in the Windoze world. Have you installed any of the 3rd Party Codecs that will allow many types of video to play in a Quicktime Window?
Perian is the best set of codecs I know of for the Mac:

    Flip4Mac
From Microsoft for Windows Media files on a Mac:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx
Still won't play? VLC is able to play many files that Quicktime can't handle:

  • Quick time full screen on external display

I've connected an old CRT Monitor to my Powerbook, works fine. I'm using it to play Movies on it in Full Screen Mode while my Powerbook's screen is free for using any other application. Unfortunately, this works with Apple DVD player and VLC player. In these applications, I just drag the movie window into the middle of the external screen and choose "Full Screen". If I do this in QT (pro), the movie comes on full screen on the built-in screen. In iTunes, the animation appears in full screen on the external monitor, but the Powerbook's screen turns black.
Can I do anything about this?
Powerbook G4 (and one old iBook original tangerine)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   iTunes 6.0.4 QT pro 7.0.4
Powerbook G4 (and one old iBook original tangerine)   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

In the Quicktime Player, under the View menu select Present Movie. In the sheet that appears you'll get a little layout of the available screens. Just select external monitor and hit play.
    I'm not sure about iTunes.

  • Quick question re: screen capture

Everytime I do an apple-option-4 screen cap, I get a .png file. I'd really like the computer to be spitting out .jpg files, like my laptop at home. Can someone give me a clue?

you can command-shift-4 and then in Preview "Save As" and choose jpg. Or you can use Grab in Utilities to get a tiff.

  • How do you mirror powerpoint or quick time onto apple tv without it showing up on your desktop/original screen?

I am currently running mavericks os x on an iMac. I would like to mirror my computer screen on to a TV screen using Mavericks/ Apple TV and continuously stream either a quick time video or power point full screen on the TV. Whenever I try to do this, it also takes over my iMac screen.. Does anyone know a way I can mirror stream this powerpoint or quick time full screen continuously on the tv screen and not on my computer screen?
    Thanks a bunch! =)

The only way to share content from itunes is through home sharing or airplay, which will require the laptop be awake a different running get itunes. If you have an IOS device you could transfer there and airplay.

  • No image, just sound - also for Quick Time questions

    Hey everybody!!
I am editing a movie on Final Cut Pro, and I use Quick Time Pro to capture the clips and source them to FCP. The type of recorder I am using is an HDV, and up to a couple of days ago, things ran smoothly.
Then I started having problems with my Mac, of a different kind, and I had a friend of mine RESTORE my system. After that, I can't work on my film anymore, cause the Quick Time files from Capture Scratch only play sound, and have a blank screen. Every time I try to open them a window box appears, telling me that Quick Time is missing some components, and cannot play the clips properly. I tried downloading most of these programms, like Divx and On2, but the clips still can't play. I also tried erasing and re-installing Quick Time, but this doesn't seem to work either.
I must have edited and delivered this video by tommorow, so what do I do??
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Stef.

First, you should NOT be capturing your clips via QT Player - use FCP itself to capture. Otherwise you have no logging information. This is bound to create problems for you, and today's issue could be a byproduct of this workflow.
Second, once your system was restored and updated, the system and FCP software versions are almost certainly different. Different versions of software produce different results, and one possible outcome is that you cannot view clips, as the codecs have changed. So - what version of OSX and FCP were you using before the restore, and what versions are you using now?

  • .mov file has no video - playing it in Quick Time 7 on Windows XP. Help!

I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Can anyone provide any input as to what might be missing? Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

    Hi Sansony,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you would like to record audio from the headphones you connected to your computer. When recording audio with QuickTime Player, you can choose to use the built-in microphone, an external microphone you’ve connected, or a microphone from a connected Apple display. Please use the following article as a reference.
Mac Basics: QuickTime Player creates, plays, edits, and shares video and audio files
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4024
Clicking the triangle icon gives you additional options, such as letting you choose whether to use the built-in microphone on your Mac, an external microphone you've connected to your Mac, a microphone from a connected Apple display, or the option to simply use no microphone at all. The triangle also allows you to adjust the finished quality of your screen recording, select whether or not your mouse clicks are shown during the recording (the pointer is highlighted when you click), and to select what location (on your Mac) to save your screen recording when finished.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Quick Time screen capture freezes when i'm working with Modo 3D. Any solution?

Hi guys,   When I'm working with Luxology Modo, Quick Time screen capture freezes every time on Mac OS X Mavericks. When I'm doing some operation in Modo, like slice geometry per exemple, QuickTime crashes. I must force quit quicktime and when I relauch the application, the screen capture opens but screen capture ends at the time when I cliked on the Modo slice operation. It's frustrating because I can't do nothing with screen capture.  I tried other screen capture applications but the problem persists! When I was using Snow Leopard Quick Time works very well!!   Do you have some resolution for this problem?   Regards,   César.

I'm using OS X Mavericks as well, and it seems like the same thing happens when I try to type in MonoDevelop, part of the Unity package. Unity works fine, it only seems as though I can't screen record typing in MonoDevelop. It looks like it's still recording, it just has the rainbow wheel of death after I try to finish out the Quicktime. I left it up for several days and ignored it, but it still didn't finish. I finally had to force quit it and reopen it and when I did it opened up the temporary file of the video I was recording, but it stopped whenever I started to type into the MonoDevelop interface. The first time it let me save the video to the desktop. The second time, the time which I left it open for days, it would not let me save it, on command-S or on exit. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I believe that you know as much as I do. Please post a reply if you need any more information or have a fix.

  • How do you import a Widescreen Quick Time File captured by Final Cut Pro?

    Hi
Here's my workflow: I captured HD 1440X1080 footage in Final Cut Pro. FCP creates a folder of Quick Time Files in a Scratch Folder. A month ago, I had no problem importing the Quick Time files into IMOVIE HD 6 and preserving the widescreen format.
Now, for some reason, when I import the same files into IMOVIE HD, it is squashing the image (stretching it vertically) and leaving a gray bar on the left side of the screen.
Can IMOVIE HD import Widescreen QT files created by FCP? If so, how?
    All help appreciated.
    Phil

iDVD does everything automatically for you. With DVDSP and Compressor, all steps must be done correctly. The trade off is that you achieve better quality using Compressor over iDVD.
    1. First thing to do is export your sequence as an uncompressed interlaced 25i 720 x 576 16x9 Anamorphic QT.
    2. Determine your optimal bitrate by using a bitrate calculator. Here's a good one. Remember you need to account for all video on the disc, including motion menus.
    http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
    3. Bring your down converted QT into Compressor and use the manual settings set your bitrate. Also encode out a Dolby digital AC3 file. These files take up less bandwidth than uncompressed audio. Also remember to match your upper fiiled dominate filed order as well in Compressor. This must be consistent throughout the export and encoding stages.
    4. bring your encoded video and audio files into DVDSP and author

  • No audio on screen capture

has it been resolved yet why there is no sound when you use screen capture? i wanted to take some youtube videos and put them together, but i also want the sound.

I can't help but wonder why they even botherd making the video recording software if they diidn't include audio .
I tend to consider such features add-ons because to appeal to novice users because the features are incomplete as far as functonality is concerned or too dependent on the CPU power of the platform on which it is used. This is why I tend to use dedicated import and/or screen capture applications. Normally, I would recommend using an app like Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia ($69) but they too are having problems updating or replacing their audio "kernel extension" following system audio changes made in the Lion OS release. ScreenFlow ($99) is another good screen capture app but it includes a number of editing features that many users do not want or for which they are not willing to pay such a high price. I personally amd looking at what, for me, is a new app listed in an article URL posted by QTKirk. The app is called Screenflick and lists for $29. I am interested in it because they claim you can tap into user events like key presses (e.g., use of keyboart shortcuts) and highlight/include them in your captures. (I.e., this would be very handy for the makie of "quickie" tutorials.) In any event, I have not tried this app so I can't yet recommend it based on personal use... but it might be worthing looking at if you plan to purchase such a utility. (And yes, it does claim to support the audio capture of both system audio and/or a user selectable mic source.)

  • Quick Time 7.67 video and audio not playing in CourseCompass MyMathLab

When I first used MyMathLab through Course Compass, the video and audio played with the digital picture broken up. Since then it stopped running the video and audio. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quick Time more than once without any change. Now when it is trying to load,I just get white screen with Q logo and an arrow running across the bottom of its window.

I forgot to mention I use Firefox. I just updated to Firefox 3.6.9 today. The quick Time problem already existed before I update Firefox. Is there a problem with Quick Time being compatible with Firefox?
