Quick tips to get you started with Photon

Basic Commands for VMware Photon and Docker | Virten.net

I might suggest, for the virtualization folks that are new to containers, an instructional that demonstrates Docker a little better than "hello world" or a bash shell.  In my opinion, this is an opportunity for VMware to get the point of Photon across to its non-developer community...

  • A few tips to get me started ..

    Hi there
I've been away from JAVA a few years, and I think it is time to get started again. I know the JAVA basics, and I made a Java applet chess game once. I am planning to start a new project: a slot machine game. I was thinking about a scenario where I have the game running on a webserver. Clients should then be able to log in, bet money and play . I have never written any client/server code in JAVA before, and I was just wondering if any of you have some good tips before I get started.
I was hoping that it could evolve to a commercial project in the long run, and I therefor have to consider money safety issues. Any good tips here? Also I am very interested in making the game as compatible as possible - do you know any good articles about making your program work with older browsers and older versions of JAVA?
In all my previous projects I've used the Model, View controller design pattern. Is this also the way to go with this project you think.
How would you approach this project, start with the game engine, or getting the client/server thing right first?
I know this was a lot, but I hope some of you have some good tips, before I just jump right into it. Links to articles etc. would be nice.
    Thanks in advance!
    Anders

    MVC is fine.
What to begin with? Design first.

  • Can you start with a jpeg?

My brother likes the functions on the camera raw panel and bridge.
He believes it will save him time over just photoshop.
Can he start with a jpeg image? If so, how does he activate the camera raw panel?
We have Bridge CS3 and Photoshop CS2. We have the Camera Raw 3.7 plugin.

If you REALLY are using Bridge CS3 with Photoshop CS2, I too would like to know how you are doing that. The capability to work with JPEG and TIFF images in Camera Raw was not introduced until Camera Raw 4.x, which is only compatible with Photoshop CS3.

  • How to get week starting with sunday date

    Hi
I have a date column "start_date", i need to create a report for all the weeks starting from sunday , for eg:
i need to get week dates as :
    mm/dd/yy - 01/23/11 , 01/16/11 , 01/09/11 and so on...
    Please help
    Thanks...

    Hi,
To find the last Sunday before or equal to start_date:
    SELECT     TRUNC ( start_date + 1
               , 'IW'
               ) - 1          AS week_start_date
...You can use an expression like this in a GROUP BY clause, also.
This does not depend on you NLS settings. ISO weeks always start on Monday. Your week starts 1 day earlier, so that's why the expression above has the +1 and -1.
    (Depending on you NLS settings,
    SELECT     TRUNC ( start_date
               , 'D'
               )          AS week_start_date
...might do the same thing, but I still rocommend using 'IW'; a few extra keystrokes isn;t much to pay for a guarantee that it will always work.)
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results you want from that data.

  • Get lines starting with a specific word and export it in csv

    Hello,
I have a text file of an application that sometimes goes in error.
When the error occurs we have something like that:
    12/08/2013 21:36:15 - ERREUR     12/08/2013 21:36:15 - erreur open connexion : -2147467259 !! [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL30081N  Erreur de communication détectée.  Protocole : "TCP/IP".
    "*", "*".  SQLSTATE=08001
    12/08/2013 21:36:15 -  Machine : testVm
    12/08/2013 21:36:15 - ERREUR     12/08/2013 21:36:15 - erreur select repertoire : 3704 !! Cette opération n'est pas autorisée si l'objet est fermé. !! SELECT  distinct rep_inter, rep_transfert From exploit.rep WHERE
    type_rep = 'E'   and machine = 'testvm' ORDER BY rep_inter,rep_transfert;
    12/08/2013 21:36:15 - ERR     12/08/2013 21:36:15 pb trait_repertoire
    12/08/2013 21:36:15 - Fin de session
Yes, the message is in French :)
That I need, is to read the file and search the ERREUR and then, include the message until the "Fin de session"
(including the date and the hour that the error occurred).
    I tried this command: get-content .\error_Log.txt |Select-String "ERR" -SimpleMatch |
    export-csv .\ERREURS-$(Get-Date -Format dd-MMMM-yyyy-HH-mm-ss).csv
    But it is catastrophic!!!
The output that i'd like to have is:
DATE - HOUR - message error in three collumns of a CSV file.
Note: In the middle of the message there is a BLANK line, it is normal.
    Any ideas will be welcome.
    thank you in advance.

    Hi,
thanks for answering....your script does partially that I need.
I explain: The output is in three columns but the error message is truncated, that is to say, I don't have the message entirely. To explain you, in the example above, when I generate the CSV file, the part ""192.168.1.15".  Fonction de communication
    détectant l'erreur : "selectForConnectTimeout".  Codes d'erreur spécifiques du protocole : "0", "*", "*".  SQLSTATE=08001"
    is missing...it goes directly to the line "12/08/2013 21:36:15 - ERREUR     12/08/2013 21:36:15 - erreur select repertoire : 3704 !!".
Also that I need is to remove the double date-hour that appears in the same line.
    Thanks once again!

  • Previous page had this: Common Questions What happened to the Status Bar? t you start with telling us What is the Add-on Bar? How do I use bookmarks? What are App Tabs? How do I customize the toolbars?

Don't assume people automatically know all your technical terms! Before you talk about, e.g., "status bar", it would be really helpful to show or tell us WHERE IT IS.
Since you made basic things like "history" and "bookmarks" harder to find, I'm back to using "CTRL H" for history -- is there a keystroke method to get to the bookmarks?

  • Ideapad S12: Get WWAN started with Dell 5530 Card

    Hello there,
I bought an ideapad S12 (Intel Atom 1,6 GHZ, NVidia ION 256 MB, 2 GB RAM). So far so good until I detect that indeed there is a sim card slot, but no internal wwwan card built in. Didn't matter anyway, the kind lady at the lenovo hotline told me, that I have to buy the Ericsson f3507g-Card.
I thought to be very clever and bought me the identical Dell 5530 WWAN card at only a fraction of the price. After hours and hours reading installation advices in several forums I was able to install the dell drivers onto my netbook and after deactivating the pin query on my sim card, the card is also detected by the data manager from my provider (3datamanager at www.drei.at).
And (finally) here comes my question: are there additional antennas for WWAN in the netbook? If no, I likely have to buy an antenna and screw it into my (yet) maiden netbook ;-) Has anyone experience with assembling WWAN antennas in S12-netbooks? Which model should I use and where should I put it?
    Thanks in advance

  • Getting Started with the BlackBerry Classic

Reposted from the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
Whether you are new or experienced with BlackBerry 10, here’s a quick guide to get you started with the BlackBerry Classic!
Step 1 – Insert your SIM and media card
The first step you’ll want to take after unboxing your new BlackBerry Classic is inserting your nano SIM card and media card. When you have your nano SIM and media card (optional) handy, use the tool that is provided in the BlackBerry Classic box to open the SIM card tray.
To do this, push the tip of the tool, or a paperclip, into the hole that is to the left of SIM on the side of your device. Doing so pops the tray out at which point you can pull it all the way out.
After doing this, with the metal contacts of your nano SIM card facing away from you, place the nano SIM into the tray, then push the tray into the slot. Repeat these steps to insert your media card by inserting the tool, or a paperclip, in the hole to the right of SD along the left side of your device.
Tip: If you don’t have the right SIM card please contact your service provider and ask them for help switching to a nano SIM card. Please avoid using a larger SIM card that has been cut to a smaller size as this may cause your device to not recognize the SIM card. Using a modified SIM card may also result in it getting stuck since the modified SIM card may be thicker than the required nano SIM card. When you have finished inserting your nano SIM and media card the next step is completing the BlackBerry Classic setup wizard.
Step 2 – Complete the set up wizard
If you haven’t already, turn on your BlackBerry Classic by pressing and holding the power button on the top of your device so you can complete the setup process. This process guides you through connecting to a Wi-Fi network, setting up a new BlackBerry ID, or signing into your existing BlackBerry ID, as well as showing you several fundamental gestures.
Tip: If you don’t have a BlackBerry ID you’ll be able to create one during the setup process and, in the event you don’t remember your BlackBerry ID password, use the Forgot Password option to reset your BlackBerry ID password. Don’t forgot to confirm your BlackBerry ID, which can help you recover your password in case you ever forget it!
When you have finished the setup wizard, the new and improved Setup app will open automatically.
Within this app you’ll be able to complete the following actions that will help you learn more about your new device and customize everything just the way you like
Find out what’s different about BlackBerry 10
Understand the various gestures used throughout your device
Add your email and social networking accounts
Transfer data from your previous device (See step 3 to learn more!)
    Customize your device notifications
Setup BBM so you can connect with family and friends
    Set a device password
    And more!
When you have finished going through the various options within the Setup App, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to minimize it. You can always access the Setup app in the future by tapping on the Setup icon as well.
Step 3 – Transfer data from your previous device
If you are switching from another device, whether it be BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Android or iPhone, there are several different methods you can use to help transfer data to your new device.
For a visual overview, check out the following videos that guide you through this process. The Setup app on your BlackBerry Classic can also help you do this, just open the Setup app, tap Switching Devices and follow the provided steps.
Android device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
BlackBerry OS smartphone to BlacKBerry 10 smartphone
iOS device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
If you encounter any issues transferring your data, or would like some guidance, stop by the Device Switch board within the BlackBerry Support Community Forums and ask the community.
If you switch from another device don’t forget to perform a security wipe on your old device to remove your personal information. If your previous device was a BlackBerry device, check out our post on how to perform a security wipe.
If you use a different type of device, review the user documentation to learn how to reset it to factory settings and remove your personal information.
Step 4 – Secure your new device and turn on BlackBerry Protect
If you haven’t already set a device password, I cannot stress enough how important this is. Doing so can help prevent unwanted access if you leave your device unattended and, in the event you misplace your device, no one will be able to view your personal information. To set a device password, complete the following steps:
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
Tap Settings followed by Security and Privacy
    Tap Device Password
Set the Device Password switch to On
    Enter your desired password twice
After setting a device password make sure you verify that BlackBerry Protect is enabled on your device by going to Settings followed by BlackBerry Protect.
When enabled, BlackBerry Protect can help you locate, lock, or wipe your device where you are, provided your device is connected to the mobile or Wi-Fi network. To learn more about BlackBerry Protect go to http://protect.blackberry.com.
Step 5 – Where to learn more and find help
The easiest way to learn more about your new BlackBerry Classic is by opening the Help app, which contains a lot of useful information ranging from tips and tricks to how-to overviews. You can also view, download, or save the user guide for your device by visiting http://docs.blackberry.com.
I would also recommend reviewing BlackBerry Classic how-to demo videos that show the various features and functions offered by your device. These demos can be viewed on your device, computer, or tablet. Several BlackBerry Training courses are also available – make sure you try these out on your computer, or device to learn more about the BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1.

Introducing BlackBerry 10 OS Version 10.3.1
Supporting BlackBerry 10 OS Version 10.3.1
    Introducing the BlackBerry Classic smartphone
Another great way to learn more is by taking the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, which you can find within BlackBerry World. This app offers short quizzes that can help you learn more about your device and it only takes a few minutes to complete each test – it’s the perfect coffee break companion!
To get the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, open BlackBerry World and search for it or click here. Another great resource to learn more about your device, beyond this blog of course, is the BlackBerry Classic support site located at http://www.blackberry.com/classicsupport

  • HT201250 It's amazing how little help "Help" is in the Mac on using Time machine to do a full "restore" .. Oh sure.. It says you can do it .. but offers no way of doing it by explanation .. Then we have this article that suggests to re-start with the "Com

.. but what do ya do when the "Command-R" keys do nothing at restart .. sigh!

Thanks Matt, for you quick help on this .. Unfortunately, the link is no help at all.  Well.. It seems to offer help, and it sorta gets you started with some cautions .. but, actually provides no instruction on how to fully restore using Time Machine.  It quickly launches into "Migration Assistant" which is not Time Machine software.
My problem is with Time Machine .. and the instructions on how to use it for a full restore .. Those instructions simply don't exist, or are hidden, and left as an exercise for the student to find.
Ironicly, there was nothing wrong with my computer, until Apple issued a recall to replace the 1TB drive in iMacs. After 3 years of my iMac working perfectly ...I made the fatal choice to let Apple replace my drive, at the California,  Escondido, North County Apple store.   A work order was generated that would replace the drive, and a full restore would be done by the store, as I (like most everyone else) had no idea how to use Time machine for a full restore.
When I got the computer home (after 6 days in the store) .. I was shocked and horrified to find all data was gone.. it was essentially a new computer out of the box.  They didn't "restore" anything.
I had backed up everything just before taking the iMac in. Unfortunately, all of my attempts at using Time Machine failed to produce any meaningful results .. And now .. a worse problem has developed.. When launching Time Machine.. the drive ( which does mount on the screen) is no longer listed as a "Time Machine Backup Disk)  And apparently, cannot even be accessed by Time machine.
I called the Apple store .. They are sorry for the screw-up, and are saving my old drive, and will put it back in.. or use it, somehow, to restore my computer.  Naturally, I do not trust them to be successful.
.. then there's the problem with the backup drive .. apparently caused by Time Machine.... sigh!

  • Tips and advices on how to get started with coherence

    Hi,
I am getting started with Oracle Coherence (for Java), but the start isn't so smooth:
I don't find the documentation so useful for a really beginner user (even the getting started guide...It has a lot of information but doesn't really get you started in my opinion ... :) ).
Can someone point me to some tutorial/doc that can help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Getting started with EP integration

    Hi,
A company I work for has a .NET web application that they would like to integrate into the SAP Enterprise Portal. There are a few .aspx pages that should be accessed from the portal.  So, we would like to create a tab for our application and have a few links that open the .aspx pages.  Eventually, we would like to get the integration certified.
This is the first time I've worked with SAP.  From what I've read, doing this type of integration should be fairly easy, but I am not sure how to start.  I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to give me some tips or point me to some good source of information.
I've installed the NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11, which I believe contains everything I need for SAP including the NetWeaver Developer Studio.  I also installed PDK for .NET and it looks like it has integrated properly with Visual Studio.
When I extracted the content of the PDK for .NET, it contained two files, com.sap.portal.dotnet.framework.sda and com.sap.portal.dotnet.services.systems.sda.  I do not see these services in my Control Panel Services.  I've read that I must deploy these through the SDM, but I did not figure out how to do that.
Can someone please provide some instructions to get me started with this integration?  Do you have a simple example that adds a tab for an application in the portal and contains a link to open a URI?  What should I look for to verify that I have everything installed and working correctly to begin the integration?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Kenneth,
If you are looking at integrating .Net web application with SAP EP there are two ways of doing it -
    1. Uset the PDK for .Net and then develop the .Net applications using the Newweaver controls, finally deploy this .Net application on the Portal itself.
    2. If this .Net application is already built and running on a different server other that EP, u can intergate this using a URL reference ans enable SSO form EP to this .Net application. The effort in this case will be very less.
If you choose the 1st approach , then you have to configure SAP EP to deploy .Net applications -
    1. Configure the .Net runtime in EP
    2. Install the PSK plugin in Visual Studio.
The two SDA files have to be imported in your Portal using the Software deployment manager, the person who has installed EP will be aware of this.
There is also a pdf document on SDN which explains everything in detail about the configurations required for PDK for .Net.
    Regards,
    Vivek
    Please reward points if helpfull.

  • Getting started with swept sine

    Hi,
I'm a new user of labview. I'd like to do a swept-sine analysis on my test devices to obtain FRF. I've heard about the "getting started with swept sine  "Sound and vibration toolkit"...but how can I use that?Should I install it on labview and read the examples?I want to start from scratch.

  • Download a Project file for Visual Studio regarding the Kinect for Windows v2? Getting Started with Kinect Development in Visual Studio

I am currently trying to make an application for Kinect for Windows v2 but I am entirely new to Visual Studio and Kinect development and could use some help getting started. I honestly have no idea where or how to start and I figured the easiest thing would
be to obtain a simple project file and examine how it works myself, but I have been unable to find one. The easiest thing would be if I could obtain a project file for Visual Studio that is an application which overlays the Skeletal model over people in real
time, though similar project files would also be appreciated. The app I am making largely involves things similar to overlaying the skeletal model on bodies so this would get me off to a great start and show me how the code is laid out within visual studio
simultaneously. (I would prefer the code to be in C# if that is possible but other languages also work).
I have checked out some of the guides for kinect development but they all assume you know how visual studio works so I cannot get very far in them. Thus if you know of a good guide to get me started with visual stuido AND the Kinect then I would be glad
    to here that as well.
Alternatively, and I know this is not the right place for this, I have Matlab, which I know works for the Kinect v1 but can't find support for it regarding the v2, so if you could point me in the right direction on how to get it to work with the Kinect v2
THAT would also work incredibly well as I am much more familiar with Matlab.
I already have Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 installed, as well as the Kinect SDKv2.0, the physical Kinect for Windows v2, and my laptop meets all of the requirements for development so those are not issues.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

    Hi Jicnon,
Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
Since this forum is discuss: Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor. About your issue, I think that it is
more related to the Kinect for Windows v2, so I suggest you can post this issue directly to Kinect for Windows v2 SDK forum:https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=kinectv2sdk
,maybe you will get better support.
In addition, I find a similar thread about your issue, maybe you will get some useful message.
