When you setup your Quick Upload feature your pictures will be uploaded to the specific online destination you configure. You can setup your Quick Upload feature to upload pictures to online storage albums like Facebook or Picasa, or other online storage albums of your choice. To configure your Quick Upload feature simply select a picture and then select the Quick Upload feature and you will be presented with setup options.

  • How do you filter for photos with develop adjustments?

I wanted to put this information out there, because it was difficult for me to find an answer to the question of "how do you quickly filter for photos that have develop adjustments?"
Some earlier posts in this forum observe that a smart collection has the ability to filter files wherein "has adjustments" is "true." Yes, it can do that. And it can also add in a "date" parameter for more specific targeting. But it cannot simply say, "in the current folder," or "in the selected folder." And frankly, that's the exact situation when I need to filter down to the files I want: I'm in a folder—typically the current folder that I've just imported—and I've done a smattering of develop adjustments. Now, I want to quickly select just those images for export. Can't be done, not with a Smart Collection, anyway.
But Lightroom is nothing if not deep, and if you approach the problem from a filtering standpoint, it will eventually get you there—but the solution is very non-obvious. Expose the filter bar, with your favorite preset: camera info, default columns... it doesn't really matter. Hover over the header bar and to the far right will become visible the "add column" widget. Add a column. From the pop-up menu on the name will come a long list of options, the second-to-last of which is "develop preset." Once that's in place, click on "custom." Save your current settings as a new preset and give it a descriptive name like "adjusted images."
Now, when you're in your current—or any—folder, just click on "metadata" in the filter bar, and your custom preset will be in effect: any images that you've worked on will be selected. It's a fast, one-click selection.
If there's another way of doing this (keep in mind it's for the selected or current folder only), let me know. It's such a seemingly desirable action that I'm kind of astounded there's no built-in or easy or obvious way to do it... or that no photographer has requested it.

I am honored to have a response from Rikk "MVP" Flohr, and I do readily agree that your approach is one way to approach the issue. It puts the relevant images in a discrete area that is easy to access. However (this is where I look a gift horse in the mouth) I find "sorts" a bit underwhelming in comparison to "filtering." Two problems: first, the sort still does not 'clear your deck' of unwanted images. You still have to squint at the badges and carefully select the range at the top (or bottom). Mistakes can be made (and I would be the first to make them). Second, the sort command is "sticky," meaning that folder will always have that sort unless you undo it. In general, I think most photographers want to see a folder's images sorted by capture time, so they can easily glance to the beginning, middle, and end of the shoot. With my method, once you click out of the folder, the filter is taken away and you're back to normal.
I do understand that Lightroom wants me to flag my images with rankings or stars or colors or dancing beavers or what-have-you. But in this particular situation, that's an extra step. If I've applied development adjustments, it's already done. Why shouldn't I be able to choose "Select Developed Photos" from the Edit menu, right under "Select Flagged Photos"?

  • Quick Upload Tool (Costco) Photos

The Costco Quick Upload tool (Java-based) doesn't work with Safari. I have the last update (7) for Java 6.0 installed.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

but....it works with IE 7.0 and Firefox, the problem is with Safari.
Maybe so, but you're forgetting that all browsers are different, and that web developers can design things to only be compatible with certain browsers, as Costco has obviously done here. From their Help pages for Photos"
"The Java-based Quick Upload tool works best with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers. If the Quick Upload tool isn't working properly and you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, you might want to download the latest Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox web browser and try the Quick Upload tool again.
If using IE or Firefox has not resolved the issue, then you might have to check if you have the most current version of Java installed on your computer. You can check which version you have at Java's website.
If the Quick Upload Tool is still not loading properly, then you might need to adjust your Java settings. To check your Java settings, follow the steps below. Please feel free to contact customer support if you have any questions.
    Launch Internet Explorer.
    Click the 'Tools' dropdown menu.
    Click 'Internet Options' once.
Click the 'Advanced' tab of the 'Internet Options' window.
Scroll down until you locate the section of the 'Settings' box that pertains to Java use.
If there isn't a checkmark in the box below the 'Java (Sun)' heading, then click the box once to place a checkmark there.
Unfortunately, that's the nature of the game that companies play when they set out to avoid web standards and platform/browser neutrality.

  • Is there a plug in for direct upload of photos to Picasa?

is there a plug in for uploading aperture photos to Picasa web albums?

There used to be a plug-in, but it has been discontinued - it is still available for download at mirror sites (by Softpedia: http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Aperture-Picasa-Plugin-Download-50358.html ), but since it is a 32-bit version, it is not compatible with Aperture 3.3; the new Aperture version is 64-bit only.

  • I have taken over 9999 pictures with my phone and it is now creating duplicate names for the pictures starting back at 0001 making it difficult to manually upload my photos like i always have. How do i fix this?

I have taken over 9999 pictures with my phone and it is now creating duplicate names for the pictures starting back at 0001 making it difficult to manually upload my photos like i always have. How do i fix this?
(I tried to just write this as a reply to someone who had already asked the question whos problem was magically solved after posting the question and the site was not allowing me to post to it so here I am)

Additionally, when I try to sort the photos by date to easily extract the newest photos which I have not yet uploaded, it is unable to put them in correct order regardless of the fact that the date is correct. Only the videos end up in chronological order for some reason while the photos stay in order by name.

  • Unable to click on iphoto icon to access photos for uploading to photo web

I am trying to upload some photos to a photo lab website. My iphoto icon is dim/gray and you can't click on it to open it. Any ideas???

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Why did I get an emails stating that i uploaded 50 photos and have used my quota for the month when I have not uploaded ANY photos. I just installed PSE 12.

I just installed PSE12 and I think it automatically synced photos to REVEL?
I don't want all my photos on REVEL. How do i control this.
It also states that I reached my 50 max for the month. I didn't upload any photos!
i this a push for paid subscription?
There is no upload button under share?
so how is this controlled. I looked at my revel and I have some older pic up there from about 8 months ago.
All my nikon pics are in raw, when will you support this?
If I have to convert them all into jpgs, this is a tedious task and I may as well use Flikr?
    Thanks,
    Chet

    Hi Chet-
This is a user to user forum that  adobe employees also monitor and reply on.
Our records  show that you have indeed hit your limit of 50 uploads. The uploads began around 5/2 from Elements on Windows to Chester's library, which was then deleted on 5/5. Each upload counts, even if you delete and re-upload.
When you first install elements, it asks if you want to make all your albums mobile or just select ones. If you say all, then all will be uploaded to revel (if you have enough uploads available). If you select certain ones, then only those will sync with revel. It sounds like you seleted either some or all and your elements organizer is trying to sync with revel as requested. The idea behind mobile albums is that they stay in sync whether you upload from elements or revel.
If you do not want to have all albums as mobile albums in the Elements Organizer,
you can open up Preferences, switch to the Adobe Revel Preferences section and if the box is checked saying
"Automatically access all my catalog media in Adobe Revel", uncheck that checkbox and click OK.
You do not have to have a premium subscription as long as you only want to upload 50 files or less to revel. A subscription will get you unlimited uploads.
    Regarding raw files:
    1) If you select a raw file to upload to revel from elements, it will first create a jpg and then upload it to revel 12.1. You will only see a jpg file in revel when you look from your other devices.
2 )If you then edit the raw file from elements, it will replace the old jpg in revel with the edited one.
3)If you edit the jpg file in revel (that was made from the elements raw file and uploaded to revel in 1 above), then it will show there and will also show up in the version set in elements.
    4) If you import a raw file directly into revel (say from adoberevel.com rather than elements) you will not see it show up in elements. There is not a feature to sync a raw files or their associated jpg file with elements.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.

  • Keep Preview for quick Viewing of PHotos rather than Photoshop

I just loaded Photoshop Elements 4.0 and am learning it. Unfortunately, for photos I may have on my desktop, everytime I want to view one by clicking on it, Photoshop elements loads which takes time. I really would prefer only the preview from Mac to use for quick viewing. I tried resetting preferences back but it did not work. any help would be greatly appreciated. have a wonderful new year.
    Skip

From the finder, click on one photo to select it and then go to File/GetInfo. Scroll down slightly and look for "Open with..." You can set each photo individually to open with Preview or configure to open all documents of that type (jpg) to open with Preview (or any other app of your choice).

    Hi,
I want to define the photo dimensions for photo upload in attachments on external candidate profile page in e-recruitment module. However, i have checked in SPRO in attachment node but not able to explore this functionality.
    Kindly help.

Unfortunately, you cannot check the dimensions of attached documents with this BAdI, but it can be used as a starting point for your further verification.

    Hi,
Are you using the standard iview. If that's the case you need to configure in the backend. Meaning you need to store the photo in the Org management(HR) which the HR functional guys will do. You just need to add the iview to your role.
Let me know if you require further informationn.
    Award points if helpful.

  • What is quick upload configuration for downloads?

What is quick upload configuration for downloads?  I cannot get downloads to open because of the box popping up wanting some kind of configuration.

I have the same question as nyswaner and have been using macs for the past 20 years. The problem just popped up recently. I can download but am unable to open the file. It asks for right clicking and selecting a favorite folder. Under Details (on the following screen) it asks for a Host, then wants a username and password. I'm having this problem on a home computer that is not connected to a virtual private network. I've been running Fusion5 (virtual machine) to comply with my organization's WindowsXP operating sytem, for a single application but deleted it as I can get the info now on my iPad and iPhone. Is there anybody out there who has the same problem and was able to solve it? The software I downloaded is for specific use with the Mac operating system and having to use a proprietary Windows browser to open Mac software can't possibly be true. BTW nyswaner, Parallels and Fusion are software applications that enable you to run Windows on your Mac computer in a "virtual machine"

  • External hard drive for quick access to photos/music

Hi! I have a 13" Macbook Pro circa 2009. I want to purchase a large and fast external hard drive that I can actively use. Meaning this external hard drive would become my storage for all photos and music, NOT just a backup drive. I want to be able to sync my iPhone to my Macbook Pro, and have iTunes read off of the external drive. And the same for photos and videos. By doing this, I free up about 90% of the space on my Mac, and I'd imagine it would run a lot faster. Firstly, is this even possible? Secondly, which drives can do this? This is the reason I want it to be fast, so that I can seamlessly use the external hard drive as if it's right in my computer. What do you suggest? Can wireless drives do this? I'm more than open to any manufacturer including non-Apple. THANKS.

Yes, you can use an external drive for primary storage. As to which type would be fastest, it's limited to the fastest port on your MacBook Pro (which, in your case, would be FireWire 800, if you've a mid-2009 MacBook Pro).
There are many good drives out there with various degrees of size, but you'll want to look at one with a 'quad' interface, which would include a FireWire 800 port. I've had very good luck with LaCie (now owned by Seagate), LaCie, etc. OWC also has a number of external, quad-interfaced drives.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • HT201317 I have been waiting 2 hours for photos in photo stream to upload

I have been waiting 2 hours for photos to go from my iphone 4s to photo stream so i can turn on iPhoto in my computer and view them. they still have not appeared. this seems ridiculous to me. Can anyone impart to me what i am doing wrong?

I have rebooted both the computer(s) and the iOS devices. I have checked to make sure the IDs that i am signed in to the cloud with are the same. I keep thinking it must be some mis-set preference but all the info i find about setting it up seems to suggest i have done that part right too. Very frustrating.....

  • Uploading your photos to a computer

Uploading your photos to a computer
    Before you upload
Create a new folder on your computer where you can store your images. You may wish to create a folder with your name on it under “My Pictures” or directly on your desktop. A separate folder can be helpful, especially if multiple people share the camera or computer.
3 Ways to upload your images
    1) Use the included USB cable to connect the camera directly into a USB port on your computer.
    2) Purchase a USB card reader, which will allow you to plug your memory card directly into any computer.
    3) Use built-in multimedia slots if included on your computer or printer.
After your images are uploaded to your computer
You may find it useful to change the “View” setting of your new folder. This is
commonly an option in the toolbar at the top of your folder. Changing the view
allows you to display your images as a list of file names, small thumbnails (mini-
photos) or in “filmstrip” mode which shows small thumbnails in a row with the
selected image enlarged so you can see more detail.
Double-clicking on any photo in your new folder will automatically open it within your computer’s default picture-viewing software, but generally will not allow you to make any alterations to the image itself. (See Basic Editing tips below)
As with any important files on your computer, it is highly recommended to immediately create a backup of your transferred photos. Two common ways to do this would be to save a copy on an external hard drive or to burn them to a CD or DVD.
To delete these photos from your memory card and clear up space for new photos, place the card back into the camera and select the “Format Card” feature from the menu. You should use the camera instead of your computer to format the card so that it can re-write any camera-specific data.
    Basic Editing  Software
There may be image-editing software preinstalled onto your computer, otherwise most digital cameras come with basic editing software. For greater options and flexibility, you may wish to consider purchasing a more advanced software program (i.e. Photoshop Elements).
      Rotating your images
Some cameras will automatically rotate the image so it is facing the right way. Basic editing software will allow you to rotate the image clockwise or counter-clockwise.
      Cropping your images
Cropping an image allows you to digitally cut excess areas of the picture off – for example, if there is too much sky in your photo and you want to zoom in on your subjects instead, you can crop the excess sky out of the picture. Keep in mind that the more you crop an image the worse the resolution of that image gets.
      Red-eye reduction
The red-eye reduction feature allows you to reduce the appearance of red-eye in
your photos, which is caused when the flash reflects off the back of the eye. Many cameras have a red-eye reduction flash feature that sets off small quick-flashes before the picture is taken; this delay can sometimes distract your subjects. Software can also make red-eye less visible by overlaying a darker color over the red area.

For relatively advanced editing software, some people might find GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) useful.
It's free and open source, I use it for nearly all of my editing/postprocessing work.
For those that want to work with RAW images from cameras that support RAW, UFRaw is a great companion to GIMP.
