Quick View Broken?
While using Quick View to preview a Keynote file, I entered Quick View's full screen mode, and was unable to exit back to the windowed preview. I force-quit/relaunched the Finder, and am now unable to see any previews in Quick View (nothing happens when I hit the spacebar or cmd-Y). Thoughts?
HI,
Try deleting this file.
com.apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
Might need to do the same thing for this file.

Hello,
Can anyone suggest /guide how to delete records for cancelled PO in quick view.
Thanks
ParagHi
The trick is that you can play around with the options / types / personalize options of quick views that you see.
You have options in it deselect / un select certain types of items.
Play around with them to select what you want in the selection criteria. Save it and replace the existing one with what you want. -
How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files? I need to look at several thousand PDF files. It takes too long to open each one individually. The only thing I could think of is combining them into large groups and then using the Navigation index. But I like the way windows Picture and Fax Viewer does it because you can keep the files separate. Combining PDFs causes loss of individual file names. That would be a problem since I do need to have the individual file names.
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is a DLL and is started via a rundll32.exe call and can't be set as an application to handle images in Firefox 3 and later versions.
Try to set Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default viewer in Windows, then it should be listed automatically in the Mozilla Firefox Browse dialog.

What happened to Quick View?
In the iTunes store it seems that Quick View is no longer available. Also, when you check out any album in the Just Added area, when you are finished and exit out of that particular album it will not take you back to the exact page where you started. In other words, you have to start your next search all over from the very beginning. What has happened to the great and easy-to-use navigation feature iTunes once had? Searching for music has become very difficult.
It's just annoying, he really spent some time on it.
Hopefully in an update. -
I must have something set up wrong
When in the Itunes store I go to the "reccomendations for you" and try to quick view an album
I always get the pop up window saying "Quick view is currently unavailable for this item" I get this message for every item.
Perhaps someone had the same problem and found a solution for this because it used to work just fine.I have the same issue! I used all the time and it quit working about a month ago. Tagging this discussion for hopes of a solution!

Numbers don't show german umlaut but quick view does
I do have a problem opening CSV files in Numbers.
I have a shared folder with VirtualBox. The virtual HD is formatted in FAT32. With Windows I created a CSV file which contains german umlauts like ÄÖÜ.
When I open the CSV with the "quick view" (press space when file is selected in finder, the CSV is displayed as a nice Table and all Umlauts are OK.
When I double click the CSV file to open it in Numbers, the Umlauts are not displayed. Opening in Text Edit is the same result, no Umlauts.
ö = ^
ß = fl
ü = ¸
ä = ‰
I think this is an encoding problem, but why is "quick view" displaying it correct. I'm confused.
Thanks for any help.Hello
I cannot find any encoding settings for opening files in Numbers 09.
A simple and obvious solution would be to save CSV file in UTF-8 in FAT32 volume in VirtualBox if possible.
One other method is to copy the CSV file to HFS+ volume and set its extended attributes to specify its text encoding. This method is only changing the metadata of the file and so is less intrusive than to convert the data itself to different text encoding. When text encoding extended attribute is properly set, Numbers 09 (and TextEdit.app set to use "Automatic" encoding option in opening files) will open it in the specified text encoding.
The following AppleScript script might help to set the extended attributes (OSX 10.5 or later only). Recipe is as follows.
A1) Open /Applications/Utilities/AppleScript Editor.app, copy the code of set_latin1_xattr.applescript listed below and save it as application (bundle) in the folder where target CSV files reside.
A2) Double click the saved applet and it will set the com.apple.TextEncoding extended attribute of the *.csv and *.txt files in the same folder where the applet resides to Latin 1 when they are recognised as 'ISO-8859 text' by file(1) command.
-- set_latin1_xattr.applescript
_main()
on _main()
set p2m to (path to me)'s POSIX path
if p2m ends with "/" then set p2m to p2m's text 1 thru -2
set sh to "
# set current directory to parent directory of script (or die)
cd \"${0%/*}\" || exit 1
# add com.apple.TextEnncoding xattr for Latin-1
# for *.csv and *.txt files, of which file info contains 'ISO-8859 text', in current directory
for f in *.{csv,txt}
do
if [[ $(file \"$f\") =~ 'ISO-8859 text' ]]
then
xattr -w com.apple.TextEncoding \"WINDOWS-1252;$((0x0500))\" \"$f\"
fi
done
do shell script "/bin/bash -c " & sh's quoted form & " " & p2m's quoted form
end _main
Another method is to convert the text encoding itself as you have already done using TextEdit.app.
The following AppleScript might help to convert text encoding from latin-1 to utf-8 in bulk. Recipe is basically the same as the above.
B1) Open /Applications/Utilities/AppleScript Editor.app, copy the code of convert_latin1_to_utf8.applescript listed below and save it as application (bundle) in the folder where target CSV files reside.
B2) Double click the saved applet and it will convert the text encoding of the *.csv and *.txt files in the same folder where the applet resides to UTF-8 when they are recognised as 'ISO-8859 text' by file(1) command. Also it sets the extended attribute for text encoding accordingly.
-- convert_latin1_to_utf8.applescript
_main()
on _main()
set p2m to (path to me)'s POSIX path
if p2m ends with "/" then set p2m to p2m's text 1 thru -2
set sh to "
# set current directory to parent directory of script (or die)
cd \"${0%/*}\" || exit 1
# make temporary directory
temp=$(mktemp -d /tmp/\"${0##*/}\".XXXXXX) || exit 1
# convert text encoding from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8
# for *.csv and *.txt files, of which file info contains 'ISO-8859 text', in current directory
for f in *.{csv,txt}
do
if [[ $(file \"$f\") =~ 'ISO-8859 text' ]]
then
iconv -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 \"$f\" > \"$temp/$f\" \\
&& xattr -w com.apple.TextEncoding \"UTF-8;$((0x08000100))\" \"$temp/$f\" \\
&& mv -f \"$temp/$f\" \"$f\"
fi
done
# clean up temporary directory
rm -rf \"$temp\"
do shell script "/bin/bash -c " & sh's quoted form & " " & p2m's quoted form
end _main
Note that the extended attribute is not supported in FAT32 and so the above methods only work in HFS+ formatted volume.
Scripts are briefly tested with Numbers 2.0.5 under OSX 10.5.8 and 10.6.5. Please make sure you have backup CSV files before applying the above scripts.
Good luck,

Word 97-2003 attachements not viewing in quick view
for some reason, my mail app (and finder) does not show a quick view for word 97-2003 attachements (the ones ending in .doc) whereas .docx and the other office 2007 attachements view perfectly. I have VM ware installed and use it for opening both types of attachements but it does not seem to prevent .docx attachements for quick view, why do the older formats not work in quickview?
pAlso, you can download these free MS Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to view (but not create or edit) these files.

.xlsx files not opening in Quick View on iPad
I am having trouble viewing some .xlsx files in Quick View on an iPad 3. When I attempt to open them, Quick View loads, but I only get a gray screen that displays the file name, file size, and "Open Office XML spreadsheet." I have tried multiple .xlsx files on multiple iPads, and the only ones I can get to open are blank .xlsx spreadsheets I create just for testing. If I add anything to them at all, say a number in a single cell, they no longer open in Quick View. The same files can be saved as .xls files and they open in Quick View, however, asking everyone to save their files in this format is not an acceptable solution for me. The files are being created in Excel in Office 2010.
I am not interested in editing these files on my iPad in any way, I just want to open them in Quick View. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!From the post above, I came to understand that there is a difference between Photoshop Elements 11 and PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe. I mistakenly chose a shortcut - not an Application file.
When in "Open with" -> Choose default program.. -> Browse... ---->
Browse... - on my computer put me in C:/Program Files.
This is not where to look.
Unknownst to me at the time one must back out of this and go to C:/Program Files (x86) -> Adobe -> Photoshop Elements 11 -> PhotoshopElementsEditor
DON'T make the mistake I made by choosing "Adobe Photoshop Elements 11" - which is a shortcut.
Below this is "PhotoshopElementsEditor" which is an Application file - which is the one to choose.
I ended getting rid of the inoperable "Adobe Photoshop Elements 11" in the "Open with..." menu by following the instructions in this link:
http://oakroadsystems.com/tech/7tip.htm#FileBloatedOpenWith
and all seems to operate as required.
I hope that this may be helpful to others.

We recently deployed SharePoint 2013 Foundation but can't make Quick View (seeing the contents of a file when you hover the mouse cursor over it) work in the search results.
All Site Collection/Site Features are turned on. Not sure what else to do.
Does anyone have this feature working in SharePoint 2013 Foundation?
Thank you!Hi Charlie,
To view the Preview of the Search Results you need to Install/Configure Office Web Apps Server in your farm.

I can't see the icon for quick view in the finder-bar in the Leopard? How do I turn it on?
If you go to View > Customize toolbar you can drag the quick view icon (looks like an eye) to the toolbar in the finder window.

Authorization Control for Quick Viewer
Hi,
I have create a quick viewer using table join and I notice that the authorization when I execute the program is only at table authorization level.
Question: Is quick viewer authorization be down to the field level. For example, if I join MKPF and MSEG and RESB to view stock movement with reservation information. Can quick viewer check the plant authorization object (M_MSEG_WMB) to make sure that the person execute the report is only able to view his/her own data?
Regards,
NormanIt's not an ABAP question. You might want to ask your Basis/Security consultant or move the question to the corresponding forum.
