Quick way for CAD dwg block to illustrator symbols

I am going to open an autocad dwg file in illustrator. The dwg file for ease has "blocks". "Blocks"in autocad are synonymous with what "symbols"are in illustrator. If I change one, the rest of the copies of the same change automatically. Unfortunately when I open the dwg file in illustrator, this dynamic change facility gets lost. The blocks lose their property of dynamic automatic change.
Is there a fast way or some streetsmart trick to speed up and enable changes in illustrator file converted from dwg format
or
I have to make 1 "block"a "symbol"in illustrator, i.e. the usual old school cumbersome method requiring lot of time...and get moving. ?

That's what symbols do in Illustrator.
You would have to create one symbol and then replace the converted blocks by symbol instances in Illustrator.

Saving Layer setup for CAD dwg files

I am using Illustrator CS4. I have a number of maps in CAD dwg as line drawings using layers such as Background, Building, Building_Number _Bubble and many more. I can bring the dwg file into Illustrator and set up colours for the different layers, fill the polygons, set the order (which layer prints on top of which layer) etc.
Can I save the layer setup and apply it to the next map which has the same layers but shows a different location? If so how do I do it?
The result I want is to open the next dwg map in Illustrator and have all the layers appear the same as they did in the first map without resetting each layer individually.

You can use your first file as a template to make a file with Layers in the order and name you want. Make sure that Paste Remembers Layers is checked in the Layer flyout menu. Then just copy the original file. Paste into a new file, select all and delete. Then copy and paste from the second and ensuing files into each new file on the appropriate layer. They'll probably come in on Layer 1. Drag the colored square at the right of the layer (making sure it is a large square) to the layer you want.

I need a quick way for extracting 100's of clips.

I have 90 min of video that we used for an old show and I need to pull out 100's of 3- 10 second clips and loops for use in another program called Arkaos. What is a good technique for grabbing and exporting quickly?

Is the video already on your computer in a Quicktime file? Me, I would use MpegStreamclip (free) using in and out points (i and o keys) and export that clip. Fewest clicks, highest quality, quickest. Just put a folder on your desktop for the clips to go to.
Is the video in already in iMovie HD? You can select that small clip and export making sure you check off the box that says to export only the selected clip. But 100s of clips, that is a lot of selecting and exporting in iMovie HD. IMovie 09 is built for that, but still, the fastest and easiest way that this non-expert knows is to make it into the highest quality quicktime movie I need, and then select and export using Streamclip.
But iMovie HD experts may differ. Lot of different techniques out there is my guess.

* Right-click empty space within the page and click '''View Page Info'''
* In the '''Page Info''' window, select the '''Permissions''' panel and change the setting to '''Block''' for all options
* Close the Page Info window -> Restart Firefox

Is there a Quick way to exactly center Illustrator artboard in work area?

Good Day, Illustrator Mavens:
Many files I receive from clients have their art boards set up way off center within the work area. This would most times not be a problem, but many times I need to scale up their files for more precision for output purposes.
Does anyone know of a way to get an art board back to the original default center of the work space so that when I scale the art board and it's contents I can avoid objects not scaleable because they'll be outside the pasteboard?

Doing what you suggests just centers the view of working on the file and does not physically move the artboard and it's contents to the default center of the work area/pasteboard. In other words, I want to move my artboard back to the exact zero origin as if you were creating a document brand new. I would like to do this so that when I enlarge the items (in my current situation I need to enlarge 1200%) the items fall within my work area.
I have attached a screen shot of what a client gives me.
I know that I could use the art board tool and drag it to what seems like the center, but it may not be exact. Just wondered if there was a quick way.

First of all, there is no need to put the entire text of your post into the title of your thread.
Next, does your daughter have an iPhone? Do her friends have iPhones? If the answer to both questions is "yes", then it is possible she is not texting them, but using iMessage to communicate with them. iMessages will not show up in the texting traffic on a line as they are not texts, but messages sent thru Apple's servers.
For all "texts" to show up in the texting activity of an iPhone, you must disable iMessage on the device. Any messages sent as iMessages(blue bubbles around the text) on an iPhone will not show up in any texting activity.

Looking for quicker way to change duration of file

I work in a broadcast environment and we have just upgraded to Audition from CoolEdit. It was a much needed change and is much better, but there is one problem. When we are doing production, we are getting ads that come out to 29.2 or 28.3 seconds, etc. We need to be able to compress and expand our recordings. CoolEdit was able to shave seconds off within seconds, even with our longer programs that are running 3 minutes. Audition took 15 minutes this morning to take off two extra seconds. Is there a quicker way to do this?

The Stretch effect offers two different stretching algorithms: the default, based upon iZotope Radius and the legacy Audition algorithm. The iZotope algorithm is extremely high-quality and accurate, but requires a lot of processing and can be slow. The Audition algorithm is significantly faster, but you may hear artifacts beyond certain stretch percentages.
I'd recommend taking some of the content you've stretched using the iZotope algorithm, replicate it with the Audition algorithm, and preview to see if you notice a difference. If not, then you could consider using the Audition as the default for future projects which have a quick turn-around time.

There is no such thing as "list.setItemForeground(int index, Color c)". You'll have to use one of the methods above.

Is there a quick way to change "Optimize for" setting when "mirror displays" is on?
I have two displays on my Mac Mini for totally different areas; I can't see the first monitor when I'm on the second. One is 1280x1024, one is 1920x1200. As I switch fairly often I'm wondering if there is a built-in or 3rd-party-utility way to quickly toggle the "optimize for" setting that is under "System Preferences" -> "Displays" -> "Display" tab -> "Optimize for:" dropdown box.
As Apple sadly doesn't make a all-in-one keyboard / mouse - need one as one of the monitors is used for just a very comfy chair, so keyboard is on my lap - I'm using an Lenovo ThinkPad USB Travel Keyboard, model SK-8855, and some key cobinations, esp. with function keys, seem not to work on it. So something from the desktop context menu or that allows you to set the hotkey would be preferable.

No phone provides true call blocking. At best, they provide call diversion. Essentially, the call is answered and disconnected automatically. If I recall, Apple is adding call diversion features in iOS 7.

Quicker way to see errors in WPER for Idoc WPUBON

Hello Experts -
I have around 20 big WPUBON idocs in which I have to fix UPCs and reprocess them. When I load the IDoc thru WPER, it takes forever to load because WPUBON has receipt level data.
What I want to know from all you SAP Gurus, is there any quick way to see the errors and fix them (any report or any other way to do the analysis)

Hi MG,
maybe it helps only to select the IDocs with Status "Error" in WPER (refer to field "Status" in "Inbound" in WPER) to fasten the processing?
Other possibilities maybe are BD87 (also, only try to select the IDocs processed with error) or try transaction WLF_IDOC - maybe these suit better to your needs.

How to open .dwg file in Illustrator 6?

I am unable to open .dwg files in Illustrator 5 & 6 on my new Macbook Pro (OS 10.7.4). I get an error message "the plugin cannot be initialized for the lack of the initialization file "ADINI.DAT"." This computer had AI transferred using Apple's Setup Assistant.
I can open the same .dwg file on an different MacBook Pro in both AI 5 & 6 (the AI installation here was by disk).
It looks like I may need to remove & reinstall AI on the newer computer. But before I do that I'm wondering if there's an easier way. What do I need to do to be able to open .dwg files using AI6?

Reinstallation is the simplest solution.
You may want to be a tad clearer in the future regarding version numbers. It'll simply help get answers faster. Illustrator version 5 and version 6 are drastically different than CS5 (version 15) and CS6 (version 16).
