Quicken 2006 data transfer

I bought an iMac 20" G5 isight and a 17" G4 imac LCD. I did a firewire TDM to my G5. Everything transferred fine including my Quicken 2004 files to Quicken 2006. Great.
My problem is I am using my G5 in my home office and my G4 in another location many miles away (a second home). I am there only once a month and can't xfer the 2006 Quicken Data onto my 17" G4: "This file requires a later Quicken version."
I was perfectly happy with Quicken 2004 and had I known this problem would arise I would have done it differently (maybe just have xfered Q 2004 to the G5?).
I have already lost data and a lot of time going back and forth. There was no warning in the installation.
Do I have to buy another Quicken 2006 for the 17" to solve the problem? Can I put the Q 2006 on an external HD then onto the G4? The Quicken forums is a joke.
Thanks all.
Bill

I have a similar problem. My iMac has Quicken 2004 and my new iBook has Q2005. I spoke with Quicken support and they told me that I can use the program to upgrade the Q2004 in my iMac. My problem is, how do I download Quicken 2005 from my install disk without installing the entire OS 10.4, etc.?

  • How do I transfer my Quicken 2004 data from old MacBook to new Imac with Mountain Lion

I want to transfer my Quicken 2004 (upgraded to 2006) data from MacBook running OSX 10.5.8 to new Imac running Mountain Lion with Quicken 2007 Lion.  How do I do this?  I thought from what I've read on line that all I needed to do was upgrade the quicken to 2006 and then the data would be readable by Quicken 2007 Lion.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK: This information is VERY helpful!  Note my comments below:

Here is what I'm doing step by step:
Open Quicken 2006 (it did automatically convert the Quicken 2004 data) -- GOOD!
    Do not do these steps
    I went to File> Export> All
Named the file "Copy of Quicken Data.qif" and saved it to the desktop of my MacBook.
At this point if I send the file as is it would not open on the other end saying that Power PC apps are not supported.
I discovered that if I  go to File> Get Info in the Finder window before I send it and change the setting "Open with" from "Preview" to "Quicken 2006", that the file would be recognized by the new computer.
Compress the converted Quicken 2006 data file by Control-Clicking on the converted Quicken 2006 data file and it should save with a .zip extension.
Send the automatically converted and compressed Quicken 2006 data file with the zip extension I send it to myself via email as an attachment, I save the attachment to the desktop of the Imac.  Uncompress it by double-clicking it.
    I open Quicken 2007 Lion
Go to File>Open File... Import>From QIF
Select the converted and uncompressed Quicken 2006 data file attachment that you saved to the desktop of the iMac and then uncompressed. "Copy of Quicken Data.qif"
It begins to download, then I get a warning
"Quicken is unable to import "Copy of Quicken Data.qif" becasue the transaction displayed below is too large...  it goes on to say that there is possibly too much text in the split line detail etc.
It should open in Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion
Thanks for your time, any insights would be much appreciated.

  • Quicken 2007 investment data transfer to Quicken Essentials for Mac

Will my 10 plus years of investment data transfer from Quicken 2007 for Windows to Quicken Essentials for Mac without loss of data?

There is a version of Quicken 2007 for Lion and Mountain Lion available. If you own Quicken 2007 for Mac, it is a US$15 upgrade.
Many Users balked at the loss of capabilities in having to move to Quicken Essentials, and Quicken eventually came around and "ported" Quicken 2007 so that it could run on 10.7 and later. I run it and it mostly works, but for tax estimates, they force you to their online tax estimator or suggest you buy their stand-alone product that will accept tax info from Quicken -- no more ballpark estimates from inside Quicken.

It appears the conversion from Quicken for PC is incomplete, and requires generation of a QIF file which is then imported:

You don't need to erase the drive and repartition from scratch. You may be able to add a second partition on the fly. The caveat here is that once you do that you cannot create a Windows partition using Boot Camp. Of course if you have no plans for Boot Camp then it isn't relevant.
To create a second partition on your existing startup volume:
To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
    2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Now, you cannot add a new partition that exceeds the amount of contiguous free space at the end of the drive. Disk Utility will fail to add the partition if it cannot find sufficient contiguous free space. If that's the case then you will need to follow your state outline - backup, boot from clone, erase internal, repartition internal, restore backup to one of the partitions (or both in your case.)

  • Time Machine Data Transfer - From FireWire Drive to Time Capsule - HELP!

Time Machine Data Transfer - From FireWire Drive to Time Capsule - HELP!
I've been searching for weeks for a solution to my problem. Here's the story I've come across since I installed Leopard on Oct. 26, 2007.
I first installed Leopard on my Early 2006 MacBook and set up Time Machine with a 200GB external FireWire drive. Since then, things have been fine, until Time Machine started deleting the oldest backups. I'm a pack-rat and hated this feeling of losing data. So, I now have a few months worth of backups on my 200GB FireWire drive.
The Time Capsule is released, I finally talk myself into getting one and transferring my old data from the 200GB drive to my 1TB TC.
I did some researching through forums about how to move data from one Time Machine drive to another, so I took the concept and wanted to apply it to my Time Capsule. I made a DMG image of my 200GB drive, in order to move the data. I figured if I can make an image, copy it, and open it on the Time Capsule - all will go smoothly - just as some had mentioned they've done with external drives.
Now, I have a 164GB DMG image of my Time Machine, with no hope in sight of gaining it back. I've tried taking the image, using Disk Utility, and restoring my original 200GB external with the imaged Time Machine data, but whenever I do, I come across error messages.
In Disk Utility, I've done the following steps:
    * Disk Image is found on Time Capsule
    * I select the 200GB drive and select 'Restore'
    * I drag and drop the Disk Image to the 'Image' field
    * I drag and drop the 200GB drive into the the 'Restore' field
    * Select 'Erase Destination'
    * Select 'Restore'
    * I get the warning message that I'll erase the drive - I proceed
    * I enter my password
    Error message pops up:
"Restore Failure: Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned/scanned for restore."
I select the image in Disk Utility, then proceed with the following steps:
    * Click on "Image" then down to "Scan Image for Restore"
    * I enter my password
After hours of waiting, I get another error message:
    "Unable to scan. (Broken pipe)."
I'm going to see, after transferring the DMG to the Time Capsule, if I can drag-and-drop the files from the Time Capsule drive onto the 200GB hard drive.
IF anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know!

32 updates on this Mac since December 2007 - Hardware, software, OS...
They keep coming at about 6 or 7 a month. Some of them I don't care about, but several are essential. 10.5.3 has been seeded to the testers a couple of times and will probably show up in the next few weeks. Jaguar wasn't worth a d*mn until 10.2.6, Panther about 10.3.4, Tiger about 10.4.4 - I'd say we are ahead or on schedule Too bad I can't get Apple to fix Spaces. I wish they'd focus on what I want but I guess some take more time than others.

  • I need a data transfer from intact hard drive of older macbook that won't boot. Can Apple provide this service even though my one to one membership has expired?

I need a data transfer from a 2005 Macbook to my new one (2010). I damaged the old laptop and although it wouldn't turn on, when I brought it to the Apple Store they ascertained that the hard drive was still intact. They said I needed to purchase a one to one membership to get a data transfer, which I did, but somehow forgot about it and now it's expired. Is there any way I can still get the data from the old hard drive transferred to my new macbook? Can Apple provide this service even though my one to one membership has expired?

Go to OWC where you can purchase a suitable enclosure for the drive. You will need an enclosure for a SATA notebook drive. This is assuming the old computer is a MacBook and not an iBook. I make this observation because the first MacBook was released in 2006, not in 2005. If yours is a 2005 model then it's an iBook and uses an ATA interface.
Install the old drive in the enclosure, connect to your new computer. You can then transfer your data.

  • Disk data transfer rate - iMac 2013

    Good morning Apple fellows
First of all, sorry for my troubled English speaking, I'll do my best to explain the issue I'm having in the best way possible.
Yesterday I finally received my new iMac (I'm a proud Apple user since 2006), the machine has these specifications: 16 GB Ram, i7 processor, nVidia GT 780M, and a SSD drive of 1TB of capacity.
Under Mavericks everything runs smooth and fine, no issues at all, just perfect, the fastest machine I've ever had. Unfortunately, I had to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (I'm a mechanical engineer and I use Autodesk Inventor to do my stuff).
After completing the installation of the Microsoft OS, I instantly noticed some laggy performance while running Windows: I installed as asked all the Bootcamp drivers with the USB pendrive that I prepared, but both the startup of the system and the normal use were a bit slow, even slower than my old '09 iMac.
In order to understand what the problem was, I ran the system performance test included in Windows: all the ratings I have are maxed out at 7.9 (7.9 is the top I think), in exception of the "Disk Data Transfer Rate", that is 5.9. As far as I remember, this value is typical for a mechanical disk drive, not for an SSD drive supported with PCIe connections.
Does anybody here got a similar issue? Is there any driver package that I have to install in addition to the Bootcamp drivers?
    Thanks in advance

That is because the WEI uses your boot disk as the default device to measure performance, and, for instance, a Velociraptor 10 K disk, does not score more than 5.9. The story changes when the test is run on other disks, like my array:
However, this measurement is totally worthless in real life. You should look at practical benchmarks like PPBM5 Benchmark

  • Data Transfer Process and Delete Overlapping Requests

    Hi All,
We are on BW 7.0 (Netweaver 2004s).  We are using the new data transfer processing and transformation.  We want to use the ability to delete overlapping requests from a cube in a process chain.  So lets say we have a full load from an R/3 system with fiscal year 2007 in the selection using an infopackage.  It gets loaded to the PSA.  From there we execute the data transfer process and load it to the cube.  We then execute the delete overlapping requests functionality.  My question is, will the DTP know that the infopackage selection was 2007 so it will only delete requests with selections of 2007 and not 2006 from the cube?  Basically, is the DTP aware of the selections that were made in the infopackage?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Everyone,
Figure it out...on a data transfer process you can filter the selection criteria - go to the extraction tab of a DTP and click on the filter icon.  Enter your seleciton conditions to pull from the PSA....these seleciton conditions will be used to delete the overlapping requests from the cube.
    Thanks

Have you looked at whether you can use the method described in the Intuit article link below to migrate your data from Quicken 2007 to Quicken Essentials format, and then import that to iBank? I have not had to deal with this issue before so all I can do is try to provide possible workarounds. In any case you should back up your Quicken 2007 files before attempting any sort of migration.

Hi, (sorry for my pour english) I had to go back to Winxp native SATA/IDE drivers and my pc crash & BSOD problem it's gone! :D (BSOD when i install some programs or some games, listening music and moving data at the same time, etc.) now i'm available to execute multitasks without any troubles. But now the transference it's quite poor  , I think this is an easy and temporary solution for this big problem.
I bought my PC on 2006 and the Windows XP drivers are from 2001, aren't new Nvidia/MSI drivers to fix this annoying problem?

I've got nearly the same problem, but a little worse. My data transfer rate seems very slow for a 100mb network and if I start copying files over the network, after only a couple of megs I lose connectivity to the network completely! I've removed the network cable and windows notices this, and when I put it back in windows also notices the change, but the green and orange lights on the port itself stay on solid. If I reboot windows everything comes back. I don't have problems browsing the web, seems to only happen when the ethernat port is running close to full load (for the connection speed of 100mb as apposed to 1gb).
Anyone else seen this? I'm on the latest drivers, the latest bios and I've tried disabling on of the network ports in the bios but his didn't work.

Take Over Value            of assets  I entered for example
    Accusation Value  100,000
Accumulated ordinary depreciation (Old depreciation in Previous Years) RS.10,000
    Net book Value Rs.110,000
and system Calculate the Depreciation on 110,000 as WDV 10%  that is 11,000
My requirement is that it will Calculate it as  100000-10000
Depreciation should be calculated at a 90000 @ 10% WDV that is 9000
Please suggest me, how i can do.
or other path or T.code where i can do.
i am new please explain in detail.

    Dear Atif and AP
Issue is not with Depreciation key it is working well according to my requirement but the issue is that base value that the system use is wrong.
i want that the system calculate depreciation at   Cumulative Acquisition value (Purchase /capitalize/ cost price) less  Accumulated Depreciation
is equals to Written Down Value.
I want that system use WDV as a base in each year after deducting year depreciation  or  (Acqusition cost - Accumulated depreciation).
I post a new asset and assign depreciation key it working well as required.
But i going to post Old asset for example Rs.100000 in year 2006. its Accumulated depreciation is suppose Rs.30000 in Year end 2011.
    i want to post that asset in year 2012 as 100000-30000  and WDV IS Rs.70000 ;
i want that it will use 70000  as a base in the coming year to calculate depreciation.
My response is 100000+30000 and use 130000 as base to calculate the ordinary depreciation for the next year.
Now Please read the first thread again and guide me according to my scenario.
or tell me how i post the old asset value and their depreciation.

  • Quicken 2006 for Mac

My iMac came pre-loaded with Quicken 2006. When I fired it up the first time (out of curiosity), it showed a dialogue box that asked if I was a new user, returning user, etc. I decided I would return when I had more time to setup my account, so I quit the program. Since then, if I try to fire up Quicken, it pops up a Finder-style box, asking the location of my Quicken data file/s. Since I don't have any Quicken files, I have no way to get past that box. When I cancel out of it, that's it. My dock shows that Quicken is still running, but I can't get any kind of window to open. The support people at Quicken were worthless, acted as though they know nothing about Macs...big surprise there. Anyone have any ideas on how I might get my Quicken program to work? Thanks

  • Quicken 2006 calendar bug after Snow L. install

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm running the latest version of Quicken 2006 (Rev. 7). When I try to make a repeating Calendar transaction, the date of the transaction changes to the first day of the following month. For example, if I enter a one-time transaction for Feb. 20, 2010, no problem. But if I enter the same transaction for the same date but make it monthly, it moves the date to March 1, 2010 and schedules the repeats for the first day of the subsequent months. Anyone know of a fix for this?

Hi, thanks for your response, but I think you misunderstood the problem. The transaction is not recorded in the register until the future date and even then it has to be confirmed manually. I've had no problem with this repeating-date function through all the various versions since I started using Quicken in the early 90's. It wasn't until after I installed Snow Leopard that the problem appeared, which is why I posted the question here. I am hoping someone else has encountered this problem and found a solution or work-around.
