Quicken 2007 for Lion printing problem.

I installed Quicken 2007 for Lion today. Data files were intact upon installation. I can write checks and make entries. However, when I try to print checks, program unexpectedly quits. Tried multiple times and it quit each time. My printer shows up on "print screen" and everything else looks correct. When I hit PRINT, "unexpected quit" message appears. Help, please.

I was wondering if I can convert Q2006 to Q2007 for lion.  I am currently running on snow leopard?

Michael, if you had been on here and following the discussions since Lion came out you would know your statements are counter reality.  Essentials came out and was the stop-gap for the Quicken non-compatibility issues until fixes to 2007 were released.
I dispute both of your statements:
    1.  "...if you had been on here..."  - Could you please clarify the time frame you are refering to here, please.
    2.  Now Bee may have anecdotally found one Quicken 2007 user who now prefers Quicken Essentials.  I have never used Quicken Essentials, but I can only go on what I have read over and over again on this and many other forums.
Don't take my word for it: consider these forum statements:

... and I could go on and on and on...
The statement I was disputing was:
Another option would be to upgrade the Quicken to the new one for Macs.  It works so much better that 2007, and opens old Q files.
    Your statement to me was:
Essentials came out and was the stop-gap for the Quicken non-compatibility issues until fixes to 2007 were released.
    That is "apples and oranges!"
Now if you want to defend Quicken Essentials for what it offered until the release by Intuit of Quicken 2007 for Lion in March 2012, that is a different issue.  I still would dispute that as the "stop-gap" on the following basis.
When Lion was officially released, in late July, 2011, existing Quicken 2007 users could continue to use their PPC version of Quicken 2007 by:
    1.  Restoring their original version of OS X that they were using before upgrading to Lion.
    2.  Partitioning their hard drives or adding an external hard drive and installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into it and "dual-booting" between Lion and Snow Leopard to continue to operate Quicken 2007 PPC as needed.
These workarounds worked for all Quicken PPC users until users purchased new Macs that came with Lion already installed on them.
Some of these "new Lion Mac purchasers", such as myself, continued to use Quicken PPC on their second or third Macs that still ran Snow Leopard.
For those who only had one Mac that only ran Lion, the next solution was to install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels or VMWare Fusion.  And since that was a "pricey" solution, I came up with my Installing Snow Leopard client (with Rosetta) into Parallels solution, which had its earliest posted incarnations in October, 2011:
[Quicken Deluxe 2002 PPC shown running here - click on image to enlarge]
So Quicken Essentials was hardly the only "stop-gap" solution for those uninformed users of these other options posted here on this forum and even at that for a short period of time, if at all.
And even Intuit admits that when you import Quicken Essentials data into Quicken 2007 for Lion, you lose:
    Budgets
    Reports
    Currency settings
    Category tax line item assignments
    Scheduled transactions
    Financial institution records
    Tags
    Online payee information
    Download references attached to transactions
Account settings such as Hide Account, and online enabled account user IDs and passwords
So based upon all of these quoted negative comments about Quicken Essentials, I would NEVER advise a current user to use it in favor of Quicken 2007 for Lion, Bee's one friend, notwithstanding!

  • Quicken 2007 for Lion is out but won't launch

I downloaded the 2007/Lion Quicken for Mac (just came out?). I am using Lion...
When I click on it is asks for my password then crashes, or just doesnt open.
Has anyone gotten it to work for them?
tried the usual stuff, reboot etc.
    roger

    Well
    it says to try this
    A.  Corrupted Quotes File:
Hold down the Control key and single-click (or right-click) your data file
Select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu
    Double click the Contents folder
Control + click on Quotes, select Move to Trash
    Start Quicken
    Open Investing > Portfolio
Hold down the Command + Shift + U keys to rebuild the Quotes.  NOTE: You may still need to download Historical prices for 5 years to get the complete data.
so I trashed the quotes file and it indeed opens in Lion, but of course all the quotes are gone.
I can download them, but some are put in manually so that data is gone, and it only goes back 5 years. I think the files I have go back further,
so I want to try the "rebuild the quotes" option but I hold down the COMMAND + SHIFT + U keys and nothing happens, am I doing something wrong?
    roger
BTW I redownloaded the software, now that I got the email that it was available, and they had identified the problem,  to see if it was fixed and it is the  same crashing version.

  • Quicken 2007 & Mountain Lion

I installed Mountain Lion, now my Quicken 2007 for Mac doesn't work.  An error message says Power PC applications are no longer supported???  What does that mean?  I need help urgently, I can't do banking, use my checkbook, etc.

  • Corrupt Data File Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion)

Bought QM 2007 for Mac (Lion compatible) and without touching my personal data file, opened a new file and immediately got the "...corrupt data in data file" message. I've tried everything I could find including: trashing the Quotes file, my old Quicken 2006 app, removing any 3vix files, intuit preferences, etc. Nothing helped. I then ran QM2007 on Snow Leopard with my old data file, and after trashing the Quotes file, it worked. So I saved this file and transfered it to my Lion machine, trashed the quotes file. Same error, ...data corrupted. Thinking it's my Lion machine, I opened it in Safe mode...no help. Created a new account...no help. Imported .qif file..no help. I've searched the Quicken forum...no help. I'm very desparate; anyone have any ideas?
Mac OS X 10.7.5, Mac Pro (2012), Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion) 16.1.4.

Thanks, Baltwo. I'm convinced it's something about my Lion installation that's the cause, since others as yourself seem to be OK—although I haven't been able to run it down. The Quicken 2007 is a fresh installation, each time I try out a new approach, I reinstall the software. Now perhaps it's accumulating some ancillary file that doesn't get trashed, but I can't run that down. I did find something interesting in my systematic search for a cause, and that is that when i install it on my Snow Leopard machine, it works fine with a new, unpopulated data file. But if I re-index my Q 2006 file, trash my Quotes file, then import it into QM 2007, the "corrupt data error" comes up. So I know everything (the QM 2007-Lion) works in Snow Leopard without prior re-indexing the data file, just not in Lion. So I saved my data file that worked in the Snow Leopard version (so it's now a QM 2007-Lion file), try to open it on my Lion machine with a new QM 2007-Lion install, and the corrupt data error appears. As I said above, opening in Safe mode, creating a new account, running my disk through Disk Utility and fixing permissions, nothing has worked so far.
So I bit the bullet and created a Snow Leopard virtual machine (Server version) with my Parallels, and it finally works, including downloading my investment, credit card, etc. accounts. Now I can move on with my taxes, but I'm still perplexed why Lion won't let me run it. I don't like my SL VM because Parallels won't permit coherence, so it's kind of kludgy.
That's my story after many hours of troubleshooting. I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Thanks for trying to help.

  • Can I download Quicken 2007 for MAC using Mountain lion

Downloaded MountainLion w/o checking what programs would be dropped.  Turns out i cannot open my Quicken For Mac 2005
so need to find another system quickly

Intuit has an Intel native version of Quicken for Mac which should work. Do NOT purchase Quicken Essentials for Mac. This is a very watered down junk version of Quicken Intuit released with many of Quicken's features removed.
The hard part is finding the Intel updated version of Quicken 2007 for Mac. You'd swear Intuit is deliberately hiding it. Trying to locate it through Intuit's site is almost impossible. You keep getting sent to the Essentials version. Here's the one you would want. Had to locate the page through Google.

  • Can't expand Quicken 2007 for Mac updates

I've downloaded new updates for Stuffit Expander, but I cannot get my updates for Quicken 2007 for Mac to expand and open up. I get the pop-up message "Stuffit archives are not supported."
Where should I start looking for answers to this problem?

I did install the new updates for Stuffit Expander.
I ended up opening Stuffit first, then I opened the Quicken update files. The Quicken files loaded and updated the application.
Quicken's updated. It doesn't function any better than it did before, but it's updated, thanks.

  • Quicken 2007 for mac qif files

My MBP (original 2006) died without having a chance to transfer quicken files via quicken 2007 for mac. Now I find that I cannot run quicken 2007 on my new mbp (late 2011). I have everything backed up on time machine but no where to run the the quicken program to do an export. Want to get away from Quicken. Can I, from time machine, export my quicken files to GIF? Any help for suggestions would be appreciated. I live in a little town in Montana and don' know of anyone who has an older mbp that I use.

  • Does Quicken 2007 for mac work with Mavericks?

Before I upgrade my Imac (2008) to Mavericks, I want to know if Quicken 2007 for Mac and Microsoft Office 2008 will work with Mavericks. Thanks in advance for any information.

Just a warning, however:  it doesn't work as well. I've had several crashes when I attempted to edit an already saved transaction (no data lost, apparently, besides the changed transaction), and frequently the header with all the account buttons, etc. will not appear when waking the computer (2007 Intel MacBook Pro) up from a long sleep. Annoying, but not fatal. At least Intuit hasn't totally given up on the Mac world.

  • What is the best way to run Quicken 2007 on Lion?

I must use Quicken 2007 but have upgraded to Lion. What is the best way to continue using a program that is no longer compatible with 10.7

Unfortunately, you will need to find a different application; you can't continue to use an app that is not compatible. Or, you can revert back to your Snow Leopard clone (you did back up your SL install before upgrading?) in order to run Quicken. You could have two partitions on your hard drive - one for SL and one for Lion.

  • Re: OSX Lion printer problems with HP Laserjet 4200

I have updated the driver for the HP LaserJet 4200 series printer to ver. 18.2. The computer communicates with the network, via a Linksys Wireless-G printserver, WPSM54G, and is sending something to the printer, but the printer prints only what appears to be identifying information, then raw code. Has anyone else had this problem? I use this OSX with three other printers, two of them wireless, with no problem.

There currently is not proper driver for 10.5, so it is surprising that the printer is printing correctly on your Mac from any application.
Your issue cannot be resolved until the 10.5 driver is developed and released.

  • PSE 6 for Mac Printing Problem

I purchased a MacBook Pro to work with my photos on.  I purchased Photoshop Elements 6 and have been able to do everything I need until I go to print.  I cannot find anywhere the properties to choose the photo paper I wish to print on.  When I've used my PC in the past, I always had the option when I went into Page Setup of choosing Properties and then a list of at least 19 different paper options such as Plain Paper, Photo Paper, Photo Paper Plus Glossy, Matte Photo Paper, Fine Art "Museum Etching" etc.. just to name a few.  Do I have these same options somewhere I haven't been able to find on my Mac that I had on my PC?  I've tried everything I can think of.  Would appreciate some help and advice.  Thank you!

  • When I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion my Quicken 2006 for Mac stopped working, short of paying the $59 for Quicken Mac Essentials is there anything else I can do to read my old files?

    help

Preface: I have no experience with Quicken Essentials, but have read, quite often, on this and other forums that it is a further strip down of features from Quicken 2007.  So I agree, get Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion, but...
    BE CAREFUL with Quicken!
When Intuit finally released Quicken 2007 for Lion v16.1.1 in March, 2013 it was a godsend for older Quicken PPC users.  It will directly open the data file from Quicken 2005, 2006 or 2007 PPC versions.  The upgrade to 16.1.2 with the release of Mountain Lion was also stable.
I found version 16.1.3 to crash on opening on my Lion Mac, so I downgraded back to version 16.1.2 and all is well.  Others are now reporting that version 16.1.4, the current version sold by Intuit, is also causing some problems.  I have not been able to isolate these reports.
My point: purchase Quicken 2007 for Lion, but ALSO:
    1.  Make copies of your Quicken 2007 PPC data file and back them up BEFORE you attempt to open it in 16.1.4; and
    2.  If you run into problems, let me know by email (michaellax) at AOL dot com.
If it works fine for you, please report that too!
PS: Baltwo will tell you he has encountered no problems and good for him.  But the reports of others with problems keep mounting...

Hopefully you have not updated to Mountain Lion, YET!
Quicken 2007 (either version) will ONLY accept data from Quicken 2006 or 2007.  For you, as a Quicken 2005 user, you must obtain a copy of the PowerPC version of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 and that program will convert your Quicken 2005 data file to one that will open in Quicken 2007 for Lion.
Intuit, which formerly used to provide copies of Quicken 2006 or 2007 (PPC) for such purposes has gone MIA (consistent with OldMacFan's observation that Intuit does not want you to find the $15 upgrade page either! To find that link - I always have to Google "CNET Quicken 2007 for Lion" and in the first listed result, Topher Kessler's review of the program for CNET has the link!)
Consequently, go to this blog and post a comment for Ferd to send you a copy of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 (PPC) and when you receive it, you must run it on a Mac that supports Rosetta and PPC software:
    http://thebestparts.net/2011/07/26/how-to-convert-an-older-quicken-data-file-to- use-on-mac-os-10-7-lion/
Then when you upgrade to Mountain Lion, your data file will open normally with Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mountain Lion.
If you have already upgraded to Mountain Lion and hence do not have access to Rosetta, let me know and I will give you further instructions.
