Quicken 2007

Now that I've installed OS Lion my Quicken 2007 will not open. I get an error message reading;
"You can't open the application Quicken 2007 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported,
What do I do now?

Return to Snow Leopard or click here and install the upgrade.

After upgrading to Lion, not able to use a PowerPC Application (Quicken 2007).  Any solution?

Quicken Essentials 2010 has less features than Quciken 2007.  Keeping track of investments is one feature I need and Quicken Essentials does not include that function.  I may have to consider others financial software, such as iBank4, Money4, iFinance, and Money Well.

Quicken Essentials is universally loathed on this forum.  Quicken 2007 updated for Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks for $15 is the way to go:

  • Has anyone had a problem with "Quicken 2007" quiting unexpectedly

We have used Quicken for years, yet, suddenly it opens with an error message - "Quicken 2007 has quit unexpectedly" with the option of "Ignore" "Report" or "Relaunch". I am running on OX 10.6.3,  I can not get into a program that was been working great for a long time and cant even open it now.  What are my options

I would start by creating a new user account, logging out of your current one & into the new one, then trying to use Quicken to see if it works reliably.
If not, then uninstall the software & reinstall it.

  • Error code -8065 when moving Quicken 2007

    Hey everyone
I recently bought Quicken 2007 (because I got tired of having to switch to Windows every time I wanted to use it) and am very happy with the purchase, contrary to many of the reviews I read on Apple.com
The only problem (inconvenience, rather) is that Quicken 2007 is in it's own folder (/Applications/Quicken 2007) . It contains the program package, the ReadMe, the license file, etc. However, I want to move just the program to /Applications. Every time I try, I get this error message:
+"Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -8065)"+
Does anyone know how to get around this? Or at least what the error code means? I searched Apple's online support and did not find info on the error code.
    Thanks.

I had already looked at Google and did not find anything. I got Quicken moved by changing the folder name to Q2007 and then moving the app to the Applications folder. Thanks!
As to why I wanted to do this: I didn't want it in my dock, but I didn't want to have to open up a new finder window every time I wanted to use the app.
    Thanks again.

  • Quicken 2007 date format problem in Mavericks

Objective: Get date format in dd/mm/yyyy format in Quicken 2007 (Lion compatible version).
    Current OS: Mavericks 10.9.4
Hardware: Retina MacBook Pro & iMac 27" 3.2Ghz
    Problem:
On my rMBP with Mavericks 10.9.4, I’m able to get Quicken 2007 data in dd/mm/yyyy format, as desired.
On my new iMac (late 2013) with 10.9.4, Quicken recognises the System date formats dd/mm/yyyy (setting up a new register shows System date format) but the registers and data are all in m/d/yy.
Quicken prefs are set to Canadian, so date formats should automatically be in dd/mm/yyyy, but aren't.
The Quicken data file is identical on both Macs. The original file goes back to 1991, and has been through all Mac OS iterations since then.
Pre-Lion, I remember that the workaround was to set the Language & Region to something (English / US, don’t remember which) and then change date formats. Anyway, the dd/mm/yyyy stuck, through Lion and Mavericks on my rMBP, but is causing a problem in the iMac.
My guess is that Quicken is unable to / blocked out from accessing System date formats in Mavericks 10.9.4.
Wondering if there’s some way to make Quicken access the Mavericks System date format, and stick to it?
Possible approach: If some expert in these forums knows how Mavericks works under the hood, how it allows other apps access to System Prefs like date formats etc., perhaps a script or Terminal command could force Quicken 2007 to recognise and accept date formats from System Prefs (Language & Regional settings).
I'd really appreciate the help; needless to say, the Quicken data is vital to my work.

    Hi Marlon,
The OS Local definitions. Different countries have different date formats for their location. Check the date format of the OS CultureInfo settings.

Hopefully you have not updated to Mountain Lion, YET!
Quicken 2007 (either version) will ONLY accept data from Quicken 2006 or 2007.  For you, as a Quicken 2005 user, you must obtain a copy of the PowerPC version of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 and that program will convert your Quicken 2005 data file to one that will open in Quicken 2007 for Lion.
Intuit, which formerly used to provide copies of Quicken 2006 or 2007 (PPC) for such purposes has gone MIA (consistent with OldMacFan's observation that Intuit does not want you to find the $15 upgrade page either! To find that link - I always have to Google "CNET Quicken 2007 for Lion" and in the first listed result, Topher Kessler's review of the program for CNET has the link!)
Consequently, go to this blog and post a comment for Ferd to send you a copy of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 (PPC) and when you receive it, you must run it on a Mac that supports Rosetta and PPC software:
    http://thebestparts.net/2011/07/26/how-to-convert-an-older-quicken-data-file-to- use-on-mac-os-10-7-lion/
Then when you upgrade to Mountain Lion, your data file will open normally with Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mountain Lion.
If you have already upgraded to Mountain Lion and hence do not have access to Rosetta, let me know and I will give you further instructions.

  • Lion OS 10.7 and Quicken 2007 - Investments

    Ashland A
In your transition to SEE you do not mention transfering a history of investments. This is an area where many of us
have been left out. Did you transfer a long history (10 years +) of accounts with activity to SEE?

Quicken Essential does not support investment tracking.  I have over 15 years of checkbook, stock/fund investments and Quicken 2007 tracks all my costs, gains, lots and exports that data to TurboTax at Tax time for my schedule D.  Spreadsheet Solutions don't support bill pay as Quicken 2007 does.  I simply enter the transaction into my quicken register, enter SEND instead of a check number and Quicken transmits the payment request to my bank.  No double entry and no requirement to use my bank's web bill pay.
I can draw a net worth chart going back to the early 1990s because ALL my accounts and assets have been tracked since then in Quicken version up to 2007.  Unfortunately, I'm held hostage by their database format.  I don't know of any management tool that completely accepts a transfer of all my Quicken data.

  • Quicken 2007 problems with MacBook Pro

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and downloaded Quicken 2007 for Mac.  The program keeps freezing up on me -- cursor doesn't work, can't do anything.  Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Quicken 2007?

If you plan on moving to Lion (OS X 10.7), you won't be able to take Quicken 2007 with you, as it won't run on that OS.

  • Wish I would have known Quicken 2007 would not work under Lion OS.  I had no reason to believe it wouldn't.  Any ideas for me?

Wish I would have known Quicken 2007 would not work under Lion OS.  I had no reason to believe it wouldn't.  Any ideas for me?

I switched to Essentials while using Snow Leopard in anticipation. Data conversion was pretty good. Nothing critical was lost, but I did have to reassign some budget catergories for past transactions. It was a good opportunity for some cleaning up that I should have done anyway. They have a 60-day return policy on the Quicken web site which was key to my purchase decision.
I am not affiliated with Quicken in any way other than as a customer. I'd have preferred it if they had updated 2007 but they didn't!

  • Apple Remote Desktop Update Kills Quicken 2007

Today this update (3.8.2v1.1) to Apple Remote Desktop Client loaded and now Quicken 2007 will start but will not quit and after telling it to quit it's windows are screwed up with toolbar missing. Only change to my system since yesterday's no problem use of Quicken was this update. I don't use Apple Remote Desktop, but I DO USE QUICKEN 2007 which is now unuseable. How do I get rid of this update or the ARD application or otherwise solve this problem?
    Russell G
    iMac 24' 2007 OS/X Mavericks 10.9.5

That's not a thing that can happen.  Your problem with Quicken is unrelated to the Remote Desktop Client Update 3.8.2 v1.1.
There were several OS updates recently, which could have affected Quicken, though more likely its just something else that went wrong with Quicken that is causing the problem.
You should try to clear your Caches and Saved Application State folders in your user Library to see if it helps:
    1. Quit all open applications (especially Quicken)
    2. Click on Finder in your Dock
    3. Select the "Go" item in your Menu Bar and while it is open, hold the Option key on your keyboard
    4. Click on the "Library" option that appears in the list
    5. Finder will now display your user Library folder
    6. You will find both a folder for Caches and one for Saved Application State
    7. Open, select all contents, and trash all contents for both folders. DO NOT TRASH the folders themselves, only the contents.
    8. Immediately select the Apple Logo in the Menu Bar and log off or restart your computer.  When prompted, uncheck the "reopen windows when logging back in".
    9. Log back in after log off/reboot. Try loading Quicken.

  • MAC Quicken 2015 vs. Quicken 2007...

MAC QUICKEN 2015, will it bring in ...
Just bought MAC QUICKEN 2015 and transferred data from MAC QUICKEN 2007. Half the good eliminates from 2007 are either gone, or did not transfer. This, after the website says it is quick and easy to get your data files from the MAC 2007 software.
The following operating functions are missing from the automatic data migration or just are gone!  Is this what Intuit charges $200 to recover???
    Scheduled transactions …[yes] [no]
User defined reports that can be kept …[yes] [no]
    Transfers between registers …[yes] [no]
Setup local sales tax percentage option …[yes] [no]
Bulk online account updates, not just one account at a time …[yes] [no]
Define the number of backups to keep …[yes] [no]
    USER Defined MENU BAR Options:
QuickFill button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
VOID button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
Memorize transactions button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
        User defined reports …[yes] [no]
Quick Reports button in Menu Bar, not the same as above …[yes] [no]

In the past Intuit just insulted Mac users, now they have committed a class action against them, with the misleading name of their update of Quicken Essentials to "Quicken 2015 for Mac!"
Thank you for itemizing the missing features, so that we can link interested users over to your post.
I just continue to use Quicken 2007; would this work for you?

  • Corrupt Data File Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion)

Bought QM 2007 for Mac (Lion compatible) and without touching my personal data file, opened a new file and immediately got the "...corrupt data in data file" message. I've tried everything I could find including: trashing the Quotes file, my old Quicken 2006 app, removing any 3vix files, intuit preferences, etc. Nothing helped. I then ran QM2007 on Snow Leopard with my old data file, and after trashing the Quotes file, it worked. So I saved this file and transfered it to my Lion machine, trashed the quotes file. Same error, ...data corrupted. Thinking it's my Lion machine, I opened it in Safe mode...no help. Created a new account...no help. Imported .qif file..no help. I've searched the Quicken forum...no help. I'm very desparate; anyone have any ideas?
Mac OS X 10.7.5, Mac Pro (2012), Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion) 16.1.4.

Thanks, Baltwo. I'm convinced it's something about my Lion installation that's the cause, since others as yourself seem to be OK—although I haven't been able to run it down. The Quicken 2007 is a fresh installation, each time I try out a new approach, I reinstall the software. Now perhaps it's accumulating some ancillary file that doesn't get trashed, but I can't run that down. I did find something interesting in my systematic search for a cause, and that is that when i install it on my Snow Leopard machine, it works fine with a new, unpopulated data file. But if I re-index my Q 2006 file, trash my Quotes file, then import it into QM 2007, the "corrupt data error" comes up. So I know everything (the QM 2007-Lion) works in Snow Leopard without prior re-indexing the data file, just not in Lion. So I saved my data file that worked in the Snow Leopard version (so it's now a QM 2007-Lion file), try to open it on my Lion machine with a new QM 2007-Lion install, and the corrupt data error appears. As I said above, opening in Safe mode, creating a new account, running my disk through Disk Utility and fixing permissions, nothing has worked so far.
So I bit the bullet and created a Snow Leopard virtual machine (Server version) with my Parallels, and it finally works, including downloading my investment, credit card, etc. accounts. Now I can move on with my taxes, but I'm still perplexed why Lion won't let me run it. I don't like my SL VM because Parallels won't permit coherence, so it's kind of kludgy.
That's my story after many hours of troubleshooting. I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Thanks for trying to help.

  • Quicken 2007 after 2012 security upgrade

Quicken reports that my problem with printing from quicken 2007 is due to the latest security update -- 2012-001.
quicken tech support suggests to restore system to "pre-update" OS-X 10.6.x, restoring everything other than the security update.   what a pain.
Any idea on when Apple will issue a fix/patch to resolve this problem??
    Don

Security Update 2012-001 Bricks Rosetta programs
    Restore method.
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. That's all you need to do at this time, disconnect all drives now to prevent mistakes.
#2 Try Restoring from a TimeMachine or option bootable clone
If you have TimeMachine drive, or a hold the option key bootable clone use that to erase and restore from.
Note: A TM restore can take a awfully long time, a clone restore takes under 2 hours in most cases.
    #3 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
If no TM or bootable clone then:
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility to >Repair Disk and Permissions  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: If Disk Repair gives a error that is not repaired, then you have to consider erasing the drive (with Zeros) and try reinstalling 10.6 fresh or replacing the drive.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
#4 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001.
#5 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason.
If you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall old programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

    #9 Unverified hacks
Note: You may see a "hack" for this issue floating around, it has had mixed results as people's software is different.
You may want to try it, but it's at your own risk. It has worked fast for some and not at all for others, hopefully over time it will work for all.
The above methods I outline are Apple approved restore methods + based upon experience here and not a quick fix, but are sure to work as Apple recommends such steps themselves.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
If at any time you feel this is beyond your capability, please seek local professional assistance before you lose your data.
Please maintain at least a TM drive, just hook up a new blank external drive and TM will ask you to make a backup
If your a bit more skilled, a option bootable clone is much superior than TM drive.
    Good luck
