Quicken for iMac

Which Quicken software is best for iMac, mt lion, 10.8.2.

The limitation of Windows XP SP2 or Vista is a Boot Camp thing. Parallels has no such restriction. Parallels will run the following;
Microsoft Windows Guest Operating Systems:
• Windows Vista Business
• Windows Vista Enterprise
• Windows Vista Ultimate
• Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP0
• Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP1
• Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP0
• Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1
• Windows 2003 Web Edition SP0
• Windows 2003 Web Edition SP1
• Windows XP SP2 Professional
• Windows XP SP2 Home
• Windows XP SP1 Professional
• Windows XP SP1 Home
• Windows XP SP0 Professional
• Windows XP SP0 Home
• Windows 2000 Professional Edition SP4
• Windows 2000 Server SP4
• Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4
• Windows NT Workstation 4.0 SP6
• Windows NT Server 4.0 SP6
• Windows ME
• Windows 98
• Windows 95
• Windows 3.11
• Windows 3.1
A Windows guest OS running within Parallels would be subject to the same security breaches as the same OS running on a PC and you would need to take the same precautions when the OS was running on the Mac.
Currently Macs are not subjected to such security breaches, but that could change in the future as more trouble makers concentrate on Mac OS X as it increases in popularity. Many of us use ClamXav on the Mac.

  • Installing Quicken for Mac

I just purchased an iMac. It has the Leopard OS. I am attempting to install Quicken for Mac 2007. The program installs just fine; receive message "Installation Complete". When I attempt to open the program, the program does not open, but rather opens the document files with the message "Choose a Quicken data file to open". There are no Quicken data files on the computer. Does anyone know how to get the Quicken program to open. Never had a problem with Quicken in Windows; I'm already stating to question the wisdom of this move to Mac.
Thanks for any help you can give me

Obvioulsy, the best place to get answers about third party applications is with the manufacturer of the product. You can contact Quicken on the web here:
You alosmight want to check the manual that came with Quicken to see if that issue is addressed or not.

I have been using Quicken on the Mac since the very first release and have not had any problems with it for the most part. Those that I have had are very small and they did solve most of them.
When it asks for a data file I presume it gives you the option to either select one or to cancel? What happens if you just don't select one? Does the program just quit?

  • Quicken for Mac is not supported by Quicken Canada or Quicken US

I had an issue with download my ING Direct transactions into Quicken 07 Mac. When I contacted quicken.com support they asked to contact quicken.ca support. Below is what I received from quicken.ca when I submitted my issue to them:
"I would like to inform you that we no longer supports Mac version in Canada because of the following reasons. If you want support for your existing version then please contact www.quicken.com
Why does Intuit not offer a Canadian Mac product?
Intuit always wants to provide our customers with the best possible end-to-end experience with our products and services. We do not feel that the US Quicken for Mac product will deliver this experience for Canadian users.
Can I use the US version of the product?
There is a US version of Quicken for Mac; however, it does not offer a full feature set to Canadian customers. This product is also experiencing some issues with downloading stock quotes. This is why we recommend our customers use a Canadian version of Quicken for the best product and experience.
Will the windows version of Quicken work on a Mac running XP, Vista or through an emulator?
We have not tested Quicken on the new Mac platform yet so we aren’t sure. We do offer a 60 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product or it doesn’t work on your system.
Why did you recommend the US product in the first place?
Although there are workarounds and modifications that can be made to the US product so it can work for most users in Canada, we found over time that the experience for our customers was not as good as it is for users of Canadian Windows-based users.
What issues might a Canadian user face using a product geared for the US Market?
    · Quicken for Mac is a US product that hasn’t been specifically developed for use in Canada
    · Quicken for Mac does not have the ability to print Canadian cheques based on the new standard from the CPA.
    · Quicken for Mac’s sales tax functionality is not as flexible as CDN versions of Quicken. Can be more cumbersome than time saving.
    · Customers who deal in multiple currencies will not be able to do so in the US Mac version.
    · Customers who track their investments in the Mac version are not able to use average cost basis, as required by CCRA

Thank you for the information. I currently use Quicken 2002 for Mac and am pretty satisfied with the tracking of personal data. Now I am planning to upgrade to a new iMac and wondering if my Quicken will run on the new machine. I would readily consider buying a new version of Quicken but as you have pointed out, Intuit Canada no longer produces a version for the Mac. Dang!
I'm not sure if a U.S. version would be able to import my data and allow me to carry on. I just want to be able to track bank deposits and chequing, credit cards and loans. I also need to be able to generate transaction reports - Quicken has been excellent for this feature. Downloading of bank account data for reconciliation is nice but not absolutely necessary for me. If anyone knows of an application that I could use in place of Quicken and could import all my old Quicken data, I would like to hear about it.

  • I installed Quicken for Mac.  I can't find the files to import.  Apple imported the Quicken files when I bought the Mac

I have an IMac.  The apple store exported my files from my pc to Mac.  I installed Quicken for Mac.  I cannot find the correct files to import into Qucken.  I foound a foed saying Quicken back up but they don not have the correct extention.  Also  I added an external hard drive and now window comes up to baxk up files.

Which version of Quicken are you trying to install?

  • Lion compatible Quicken for Mac

    Hello,
I have nearly 13 years of Quicken for Mac financial data running on my Snow Leopard MacBookPro that I want to preserve. I have not yet upgraded to Lion, but plan to do so very soon. I have an old iMac which is stuck running Tiger which I can use as a Quicken 2007 machine if need be. My question is: Do I need to upgrate my laptop to Lion before installing and using the new Quicken for Mac? Does it matter?
    Thanks,
    jerseypolly

I'm new to Macs and want to transfer my PC Quicken data to my new Mac running Lion.  Does this $15 verion of Quicken run as it claims on Lion - I assume that it is only $15 to get it out there?
I downloaded Essentials a month ago and dumped it.  It does not have manual data entry near as easy as the PC version.  How does this Mac verion work?  Anything like the data entry for the PC?
Any info about data conversion?  I do have it converted from PC to Essentials, which was a hastle to get the conversion file.
    Thanks.

  • Home banking software for iMac

I have just bought my first apple, an iMac.  I have always had windows based pc's and I have used Quicken for home banking.  I can't seem to find whether Quicken make Aus software for the Mac.  What software can I find that will do what Quicken did on my pc?

Quicken makes 2 versions for the MAC, Quicken 2007 and Quicken Essentials.  2007 is the full featured version and Essentials is a stripped down version.  2007 will not run on Lion so if you are upgrading to 10.7 you are better off getting Essential to start.  You can transfer your PC files over.  There is a drawn out procedure to do it but it is doable.  Look on the Intuit web site for more info.

  • Quicken for XP on MacBook

I am thinking of ditching my dell PC for a MacBook. Since I bought by iMac last year the only thing I use the PC for is Quicken. I was extremely disappointed with Quicken for the Mac, particularly the lack of online banking from any of my banks. Now that XP will run on the MacBook I'd like to ditch the PC but keep using Quicken for XP.
Does anyone have experience running Quicken under windows on a Mac? If so, how was the data conversion? On the Mac it was a disaster.

Quicken is owned by Intuit which also releases the Turbo Tax Software. Over the years I have heard many complaints about Intuit. There has been many web-blogs about them only giving good support and good products for Windows PC's. Their Customer Service reps state that 90% of support goes to windows due to that being the heavily used OS out there. They acclaim it to suporting a Ford which a lot of people drive, vs a Yugo which barely anyone drove.
Hopefully with more and more people switching to MAC, they will improve and change their stance. I am not a big fan of quicken anyway - even on a PC. I used it for a while to track my bank accounts to see where my spending was going. I had many connection issues with my bank, and my bank was not the only one complaining. I could never download my IRA information. If you are going to use XP on your macbook, you may try Microsoft Money. There are also alot of other software out there. The biggest issue is will your bank allow you to connect with it. Some prefer MS Money, others Quicken, other banks any software as long as it is secure. some banks will even offer you software or secure web connections to track your accounts and investments. Sorry, I have had no experience yet on other software written specifically for the mac. But there are literal 100's of accounting and personal finance software available.

  • HT4796 Migrating my quicken to iMac

I have installed the migration assistant in my old PC and want to migrate my quicken data/software to my new iMAC. Possible??  thanks

If the old PC is not using OS X, you can't use Quicken on the iMac because it's running Mac OS X and it needs different applications than Windows. In this case, you need to purchase Quicken for Mac, or install Windows. However, your Quicken files will be transferred if you have files created with that app

Install more RAM in the computer; the Mac needs to have at least 2GB of RAM and should have 4GB or more first.

  • How do I make a private album in new Photos for IMac?

How do I make a private album in the new Photos for IMac? I had one in iPhoto, and now that all the photos migrated to Photos my private album is not hidden anymore. Thanks for help!

Photos does not hide photos in albums at all.  Photos can only be hidden from Moments, Collections, Years.
If you want private albums, move the photos in questions to a different Photos Library, that you keep hidden.

Free solutions are the best, although if I have to pay I will, I would prefer to not have to buy an external burner if possible and already know that is an option so please don't give me that answer... thank you for any help you can give

Unless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40.
