Quicken for Mac 2006 15.0.4 R5

Just curious as to whether anyone else is having problems launching the app. I have 2 striped raids of 250G/drive. Brought my old quicken data over from a powerbook G4. Quicken will launch a new file, but will not open my old data.
Any input is appreciated.
Anyone thinking the Raid is a problem?
Hopefully this is not too off-topic.
Thanks in advance.

Well, the problem has not yet been solved...and I am not sure what is going on. Firstly, wrote a little App that looked at each bundle and I thought I had discovered what the issue was. PkgInfo's creator code was "????" and on a new file I had just created in Quicken it was "INTU"...so changed that but this did not resolve the issue. Still got Quicken getting hung on opening with Activity monitor showing the Quicken was "not responding". Then I went back and retrieved my data file ( I have Retrospect) but found that the same thing happened with the retrieved data. This is really puzzling. I have reinstalled quicken, tried to open the retrieved file without installing the new updates/after installing the new updates...so the whole thing is rather confusing to me. Bottom line is I need to retrieve this and make it work as I have years of data on them.
How did you copy the file over in the first place.
Can you network the two computers together and try
to open the file by running quicken on your MP and
access the data file from the G4?
Initially just moved the data using ChronoSync. But then I have tried simply using the finder (on the MacPro) and booting the laptop in f/w mode with the 2 machines linked with a f/w cable. Have also tried to simply open the data from the Mac Pro as suggested.
I have begun to wonder if the last saved version of Quicken somehow got corrupted and I was unaware of this.
Taday...again...will have a go at it.....but thanks for taking the time to answer.

I have Quicken for mac 2005, can I upgrade to Maverick from OS X 10.6.8 and not keep all data?

I am new to the Apple Support community but am hopeful that you can help me!!  I have just bought a MacBook Air, migrated my stuff and found that my Quicken for Mac 2005 is no longer supported. (I still have my Quicken 2005 working on my Mac OS X - Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard?)  I saw a thread of communications back in 2012/13 where you helped a lot of people find ways to get their 2005 data into new versions - something about a $15 purchase.  However, I can't find those discussions again.  AND I don't know if they are 'relevant' because I'm now using the latest Yosemite, which someone just told me to upgrade for free....But this same person told me to switch to iBank, which others who have used Quicken for years didn't like.  I'd just as soon stay with Quicken but it seems like they have less support for Mac users.  Do you think I can move my data successfully still?  I live and work overseas and leave the USA on Monday and am trying to leave my older MacBook Air (the one with my 2005 Quicken on it) here....
    Thanks for any advice.

  • PROBLEMS WITH QUICKEN FOR MAC 2007

Anyone else upgrade to Lion only to find that Quicken 2007 for Mac won't work?  Apparently Quicken for Mac 2005-2007 was originally built for the older PowerPC architecture, and were able to run on newer Intel-based Macs due to an Apple technology called Rosetta. As of Mac OS X 10.7, Apple has discontinued support for Rosetta.
Intuit is telling me it is an Apple problem.  They also say I can buy Parallels and Quicken for Windows to convert the files and recover all my data.

iBank is an application that runs fine under Lion, so it may be able to at least partially migrate the data.
Otherwise the data files themselves have not been modified by the upgrade, though it's unclear what you would migrate them to.
Worst case, you could always downgrade to Snow Leopard or create a Snow Leopard boot disk, and export your files from Quicken for use in say Quicken for Windows.
Here's one of many articles for people in your situation:

Though it's very limited in scope, Quicken Essentials may even do the trick for you if you just use Quicken as an e-checkbook register.

  • Installing Quicken for Mac

I just purchased an iMac. It has the Leopard OS. I am attempting to install Quicken for Mac 2007. The program installs just fine; receive message "Installation Complete". When I attempt to open the program, the program does not open, but rather opens the document files with the message "Choose a Quicken data file to open". There are no Quicken data files on the computer. Does anyone know how to get the Quicken program to open. Never had a problem with Quicken in Windows; I'm already stating to question the wisdom of this move to Mac.
Thanks for any help you can give me

Obvioulsy, the best place to get answers about third party applications is with the manufacturer of the product. You can contact Quicken on the web here:
You alosmight want to check the manual that came with Quicken to see if that issue is addressed or not.

I have been using Quicken on the Mac since the very first release and have not had any problems with it for the most part. Those that I have had are very small and they did solve most of them.
When it asks for a data file I presume it gives you the option to either select one or to cancel? What happens if you just don't select one? Does the program just quit?

  • Quicken for Mac is not supported by Quicken Canada or Quicken US

I had an issue with download my ING Direct transactions into Quicken 07 Mac. When I contacted quicken.com support they asked to contact quicken.ca support. Below is what I received from quicken.ca when I submitted my issue to them:
"I would like to inform you that we no longer supports Mac version in Canada because of the following reasons. If you want support for your existing version then please contact www.quicken.com
Why does Intuit not offer a Canadian Mac product?
Intuit always wants to provide our customers with the best possible end-to-end experience with our products and services. We do not feel that the US Quicken for Mac product will deliver this experience for Canadian users.
Can I use the US version of the product?
There is a US version of Quicken for Mac; however, it does not offer a full feature set to Canadian customers. This product is also experiencing some issues with downloading stock quotes. This is why we recommend our customers use a Canadian version of Quicken for the best product and experience.
Will the windows version of Quicken work on a Mac running XP, Vista or through an emulator?
We have not tested Quicken on the new Mac platform yet so we aren’t sure. We do offer a 60 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product or it doesn’t work on your system.
Why did you recommend the US product in the first place?
Although there are workarounds and modifications that can be made to the US product so it can work for most users in Canada, we found over time that the experience for our customers was not as good as it is for users of Canadian Windows-based users.
What issues might a Canadian user face using a product geared for the US Market?
    · Quicken for Mac is a US product that hasn’t been specifically developed for use in Canada
    · Quicken for Mac does not have the ability to print Canadian cheques based on the new standard from the CPA.
    · Quicken for Mac’s sales tax functionality is not as flexible as CDN versions of Quicken. Can be more cumbersome than time saving.
    · Customers who deal in multiple currencies will not be able to do so in the US Mac version.
    · Customers who track their investments in the Mac version are not able to use average cost basis, as required by CCRA

Thank you for the information. I currently use Quicken 2002 for Mac and am pretty satisfied with the tracking of personal data. Now I am planning to upgrade to a new iMac and wondering if my Quicken will run on the new machine. I would readily consider buying a new version of Quicken but as you have pointed out, Intuit Canada no longer produces a version for the Mac. Dang!
I'm not sure if a U.S. version would be able to import my data and allow me to carry on. I just want to be able to track bank deposits and chequing, credit cards and loans. I also need to be able to generate transaction reports - Quicken has been excellent for this feature. Downloading of bank account data for reconciliation is nice but not absolutely necessary for me. If anyone knows of an application that I could use in place of Quicken and could import all my old Quicken data, I would like to hear about it.

  • Is there a good apple based alternative to the personal. finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

Is there a good apple based alternative to the persona finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

I switched from Quicken on a Windows computer to iBank on a Mac. It is a very good program, has very good free download connections to financial institutions (optional), and very good reports. The only negative is that it is just different enough from Quicken that there is a learning curve and the first month or two were frustrating -- but that is likely true of anything that you might change to. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

  • Transferring PC Quicken files to a Quicken for Mac

My dad is making the switch from PC to Mac, but is worried about losing his quicken files. I know they make quicken for Mac, but are files the same? (i.e. .docx for word) Will he have a problem making the transfer?
    Thanks!

Since Quicken is not an Apple product you should post your question on the Quicken forums: https://qlc.intuit.com/app/full_page

  • Just updated to osx, can't access quicken for Mac anymore

I just uploaded OSX to my I-Mac. I like the upgrade but it does not support quicken for Mac 2007 and suddenly I cannot access it. I can purchase quicken essentials for Mac but need to know how I can access the old records and transfer them to the new program. The new upgrade will not open the old files. Do I need to remove the upgrade first?

Quicken has an upgrade for Qicken that will run on a Mac. It is not Quicken Essentials, as far as I know.

  • Lion compatible Quicken for Mac

    Hello,
I have nearly 13 years of Quicken for Mac financial data running on my Snow Leopard MacBookPro that I want to preserve. I have not yet upgraded to Lion, but plan to do so very soon. I have an old iMac which is stuck running Tiger which I can use as a Quicken 2007 machine if need be. My question is: Do I need to upgrate my laptop to Lion before installing and using the new Quicken for Mac? Does it matter?
    Thanks,
    jerseypolly

I'm new to Macs and want to transfer my PC Quicken data to my new Mac running Lion.  Does this $15 verion of Quicken run as it claims on Lion - I assume that it is only $15 to get it out there?
I downloaded Essentials a month ago and dumped it.  It does not have manual data entry near as easy as the PC version.  How does this Mac verion work?  Anything like the data entry for the PC?
Any info about data conversion?  I do have it converted from PC to Essentials, which was a hastle to get the conversion file.
    Thanks.

  • Quicken for MAC

CAUTION:  Potential purchaser of the Quicken Software for the MAC.
After two weeks ago (early December 2012), I purchased a copy of the Quicken Essentials for Mac.  I installed the software onto my MAC and was in the process of converting my Quicken Window Files to the MAC.
I've learned via the electronic version of the conversion documentation, there are two versions of the Quicken Essentials for the MAC.  The version purchased from the Apple Store and the version purchased online or from a retail store.  The bad news is that the version purchased from the Apple Store would NOT allow the user to convert Quicken Window files to the Mac.  However, the retail store version does.
So, if you're a Window Quicken user wanting to migrate to MAC Quicken, be cautious where you purchase your software.  I strongly do not recommend that you purchase it from Apple.  Secondly, there is NO notation or documentation on the software packaging that would identify the exception.
I've contacted Apple and Quicken.  Each told me that they have nothing to do with each other and suggested that I contact the other party.  So, I have Apple pointing the finger at Quicken.  And Quicken pointing the finger at Apple.  Apple would not accept a returned on the software, because the package was opened.  However, you would NOT know of this exception, unless you open the package and install the software.  This is a major failure on both Apple and Quicken.
Since than, I have demanded that Apple removed this product from their Apple Store website.  Secondly, they need to WARN potential buyer of this exception, so that would not end up flushing $57.00 down the toilet.  At least my $57.00 got the product off of the Apple Store website.
Just a note, if you are a NEW user to Quicken, with no Window files to convert, you're probably okay....  But, do study and compare the MAC version with the Window version.  At best, the MAC version would put you back to the Quicken 2002 version.  You will not be able to do investment account, print reports, etc. with the new 2012 MAC version.  If you're using Quicken for the basic and elementary account tracking, you're probably be happy with the software.  If you're a Quicken 2007 - Window or higher user, you'll be totally unhappy with this software.

Look, I love MAC too... But, please provide the proper information to the readers, so that they can make the proper decision..
Yes, running parallel desktop with MAC and Window is a good solution.  However, keep in mind that you'll have to purchase Parallels Desktop 8 for the MAC, at $79.00 without taxes.  After, installing Parallels Desktop, you'll now need to purchase a copy of WINDOW Operating System at a cost of $350.00, unless you already have a full Window Operating System, which you can move to the MAC.  (Most people do not.  Most people have a copy of XP or less, and have upgraded to the next version.  That version is NOT transferrable to the MAC.)
Yes, I have made the same decision and have purchased and installed Parallel Desktop 8.  However, I'm debating about spending another $350 for Window 7 or 8 for the MAC.  For what, just so I can run Quicken.  No thanks.
Sure, there are many ways to solve the Quicken issue for the MAC.  I'm not looking for a solution.  I have purchased Quicken for MAC and Parallels Desktop 8.   All these solutions come with a lot of issues.
This message is to alert the potential buyers of these CATCH 22 issues, to consider before spending the money and fall into the same money pit as I did.
I have Quicken for the MAC, which I cannot convert my WINDOW files to the MAC.  The Quicken for the MAC goes back at least 5+ generations, as compare to the WINDOW 2012 version.  So, if you don't mind that issue, then buy Quicken for the MAC.
I have a copy of Parallels Destop 8 installed.  However, I can't use it without purchasing a full copy of WINDOW 7 or 8 software...
These are information which reviewers like you mislead the buyers into a false purchase and get struck with an unworkable solution...
I ask the reader to ask questions before making these decisions . I wish i have known these issues before, I wasted my money on Quicken for the MAC and Parallels Desktop 8.
Sorry, but, I think you're loosing your creditability here.
    Enough said...

  • Quicken for Mac 2007 problem with 10.6.2

So I went to open Quicken for the first time since installing the 10.6.2 update and I thought I'd share my experience.
After repeatedly crashing upon launch, I contacted Quicken support.
After a 3-hour chat (my favorite part was when the rep asked me what a G4 was)
I was given the R3 update, which still won't open my main file.
As it turns out, I have a drive that I can boot into 10.4.11, where everything seems to be working now. I was able to open a smaller (664 kb), simpler more recent file, but my main file (6.4 mb) with all my important stuff can be opened only under 10.4.11.
I learned along the way that Quicken never updated the code for Intel processors, and that Quicken is proud to announce Quicken for Mac 2010. Here's a quote: "Our Quicken Mac 2007 and earlier users should note that this is a brand new product, so some of the features you've grown used to may not be included"
Quicken 2010 for Mac - Now with fewer features!
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out there....

I am a new convert to IBANK (www.iggsoftware.com). I have been running Quicken 2008 in Windows on my Mac. I have been waiting for Quickens new program as Quicken 2007 for the MAC is only half the program that it's Windows counterpart is. Intuit has chosen to string us along for over a year waiting for their new Quicken Financial Life program only to dumb it down (http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/mac-personal-financial-softw are.jsp) to Quicken Essentials for the MAC.
It is time to send them a message that they are going to lose money for their lack of comitment to us MAC users.

  • Quicken for Mac replacement - won't work with Lion

Quicken has sent an announcement to users confirming that Quicken for Mac 2005-2007 will not work with Lion, and encourage these users to begin using Quicken Essentials.  Obviously this is not an option for many.  I'm going to try out iBank 4 as a full replacement for Quicken for Mac, although I understand online bill pay is not supported.
Any other former Quicken for Mac users using iBank 4?  Would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Just to add to the thread..
As Quicken will not be supporting the Mac Lion Update, I will require a replacement financial/banking software package for Quicken 2007.
I tried Quicken Essentials but it does not do what I need.
I am looking for the following features:
    Check Printing
    Memorized Transactions (QuickFill in Quicken)
    Custom Reports
    Memorized Reports
    Scheduled Transactions
I do not need investment/budget/online banking features.
    Sure would appreciate some advice!
    Many thanks!
