Quicker Forward delete on a non-Apple (ANSI) keyboard

Could a charitable soul please suggest a script that would assign "Shift Delete" (that does forward delete) to the Print Screen key on my USB non-apple keyboard ?

DoubleCommand offers 20 specific actions, none of which enables using the PrintScreen key for Forward Delete.
The nearest is Backslash (\) acts as Forward Delete (but then I cannot use backlash any more) or Shift Delete acts as Forward Delete (But I can do that already!)
Trying to assign the signal presently sent by Shift Delete to the PrintScreen key looks pretty hopeless. I tried uControl, but it is the same. Is there a way?

  • Can icloud delete email from non-apple email accounts?

Just wondering if there is any way that icloud would be able to delete emails en masse from a non-apple/me/cloud email account. I seem to have no email prior to May 1 on an IMAP email account I have hosted elsewhere. Using Lion (of course) and the most current version of the Mail app and am referring to incoming email only.
    Thanks!
    Chris

"External" email accounts (e.g. google, yahoo, etc.) have no connection with iCloud.  You set up accounts for these email services in the mail program and can do the usual things with them (view emails, move to folders, delete, etc.) but they are in now way related to iCloud.

  • Non Apple pro-keyboards : Which ones ?

My Mitsumi Apple Extended M 7803 keyboard has served me well apart from a sticky key. Disassembling and cleaning the keyboard have not helped much and time to move on.
Not keen on ebay replacements and I am looking for a sturdy non-Apple keyboard. Any suggestions ? I am considering the Matias USB 2.0 keyboard. Any User cares to comment ? Thanks

Don't know about the current Matias but someone on another forum said the earlier "Tactile Pro" boards have a very noticeable key "clack" intended to emulate the experience of older boards, but you can't turn it off. I am also interested in the Matias in that I've always used the big Apple M3501 "Nimitz" board (ADB) and love the feel of 104 discreet key switches. I'm currently using a Nimitz on my MDD but the ADB-to-USB adaptor I've relied on so long to keep the Nimitz in service lost support after Panther. It causes a few minor problems I'm dealing with (ex., you have to hit the RETURN key on wake from sleep to regain control of the board), but now it's causing some other USB devices to act up a little.
Have you looked at the Apple Aluminum board? I'm thinking about one of those but am 300 miles from an Apple Store and can't go test one. We'll be in Portland OR over Memorial Day and I plan to visit the Apple Store there to see how that one feels. I'm a writer, and keyboard feel is very important when I have to spend hours at the computer.

  • I'm trying to connect a Sony wireless keyboard and can't figure out how to get the iPad 2 to discover it.  Has anyone had any luck using a non-Apple wireless keyboard and mouse?

Apple tech so far hasn't helped except to advise me to get manuals online that Sony doesn't post on its website.  I've sent off an inquiry to Sony but don't expect an answer.  Apple assumes my devices are bluetooth but the iPad2 hasn't figured out how to discover them, and I don't know how to make them discoverable.  I'd like to have the option to use them but so far haven't been able to figure out how.

    Heidi-
On the iPad, go to Settings-General-Bluetooth.  Set Bluetooth to ON and a new window appears while the iPad searches for Bluetooth devices.
To get the keyboard into a discoverable mode, you may need to remove its batteries for a while.  If it is not possible to get it to appear on the iPad, could the keyboard be defective?  Can it be discovered by other computers?

  • Mac Mini and a non Apple Wireless Keyboard

I'm getting a Mac Mini but already have a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard have a hub that is connected via USB. My question is will this keyboard and mouse work with my new Mini?
    Thanks in advance!
    Chad

I have a mini and a Logitech Cordless Comfort Duo (wireless keyboard and mouse) connected via a KVM switch. I recently switched to Mac, so I'm not sure I know how it's supposed to work, but the Option key seems to behave as the Command key should, and vice versa.
    In TextEdit:
Option-Click allows me to select non-contiguous items.
Command-Click allows me to select only the portions of text I click+drag over - without automatically selecting whole lines.
    Control-Click mimics right-clicking the mouse.
Is this how it should work?

  • Non Apple USB Keyboard Issue

    Hi All,
I recently purchased an L3 Systems WristPC keyboard to use with my mac mini.
The problem I'm having is that the NumLock key won't toggle and, as the keyboard shares the number keys with the qwerty row, I cannot type any numbers.
I've confirmed the keyboard works by plugging it into a pc where it functions as expected.
I've been all up and down the net and every forum I could find, but have had no luck with a solution.
    Anyone?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Sound Speed-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards
Is this a USB keyboard or an adapted PC model?
If it isn't USB per se it most likely won't play nice with any Mac. Does it worked on a PC with the USB adapter?

  • Add Vol controls to non-Apple USB Keyboard?

Hi all. I just bought the Kensington Spillproof USB keyboard (for obvious reasons). The only problem with it is that it lacks the volume up, down, and mute buttons that the Apple keyboards have. Is there any way I can make a shortcut (possibly using the F keys) to control sound levels from my keyboard like I used to be able to do on my Apple board? Thanks!

  • Using the Number Pad on my non-Apple bluetooth keyboard on MBP Retina

Hi, I was able to easily connect my bluetooth keyboard to my MBP Retina, but my Number Pad doesnt seem to work. I was trying to find an option to allow the numpad in keyboard settings, but couldnt find anything. I was hoping somebody would know what to do so that I could use my Number Pad for punching in numbers on Excel, online, etc. It's a huge pain to use the straight line of keys above the letters and I'm used to using the number pad. FYI, I'm using a Logitech MX 5500 Keyboard, if that makes any difference. Any thoughts are appreciated!

    All right,
Not really clear yet but try either pressing the two shift key for a few seconds (or pressing many times both at the same time) or pressing shift with space. It worked with me. Funy that the problem only happens in excel.

  • Wireless keyboard (non apple) + usb receiver = wake from sleep?

Does a non apple wireless keyboard with its own usb receiver wake the computer from sleep? if so any other issues / concerns when using one?

With regard to the USB port, I have always had my keyboard plugged directly into an original USB1.1 port. I save the USB2.0 ports (PCI Card) for scanner, hard disks, etc that would actually benefit from the speed increase. I do know that the buttons on my scanner (for instant scan/copy etc) work perfectly if the computer is awake, but will not wake the computer from sleep.
With regard to programming the other keys, my microsoft keyboard has a preference pane that allows you to define different functions for all the keys. This came on a cd with the keyboard, but only windows version. Had to download the mac version from microsoft.com website.
I've never tried a bluetooth keyboard. Perhaps with next computer purchase.
When I was shopping for a keyboard - the one thing that pushed me to the microsoft keyboard was greater flexibility in defining functions for the keys. For instance, The play, fast forward, rewind, volume keys always access itunes regardless of what program is running, except for imovie, where they instead control playback. If I hold down the shift key and push them in imovie, then they again control itunes. Similarly, I set the "my favorites" keys to link to certain websites in safari, certain albums in iphoto, certain playlists in itunes, and certain folders in the finder or otherwise. This control was more robust at the time (5 years ago) and still functions well for me. Not sure if other manufacturers have this now or not.

  • New Non-Apple keyboard doesn't have Eject key.

I wear out Mac keyboards fast, so I got a non-Apple Mac keyboard, but it lacks a drive-open/eject key. Is there any way to program an F-key or a combination to open the drive door?

    Hi-
Go to System/ Library /CoreServices /Menu Extras. Inside that folder, find and double-click on the file called Eject.menu.
Now, look in your Menu bar, and you should be the proud owner of an Eject icon, which, when clicked, ejects the optical drive (closes it too)!

  • "fn + delete" not working on my apple bluetooth keyboard

I've recently noticed that the "fn + delete" keys no longer work as a delete function on my apple wireless keyboard being used on my iMac. I've made several attempts to disconnect the keyboard and reconnect, but nothing seems to work. Any one else ever have this problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Reset the SMC, you may need to do this 2-3 times in order for it to work. iMac SMC and PRAM reset

  • How do I get forward delete to work on a PC w/ an Apple Wireless Keyboard?

    Hello,
I have successfully connected an Apple Wireless Keyboard to my Toshiba Portege laptop which is running Windows Vista. The keyboard is working fine but my laptop won't recognize the 'fn+delete' command to execute a forward delete. I've searched quite a bit online but I can't figure out how to replicate the forward delete functionality, which I use all the time, with my Apple Wireless Keyboard. Anyone have suggestions or ideas about other key combinations which may work or mapping software I can use on my laptop to get this done? Thanks very much!

  • HT1171 How do I forward-delete in Windows using an Apple Wireless Keyboard?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1171 says that forward-delete maps to but that key doesn't exist on an Apple Wireless Keyboard (as far as I can tell). Anyone know how to achieve this, as well as home, page up, and page down functions?
I've tried https://code.google.com/p/uawks/downloads/detail?name=Install UAWKS 2008.09.17.exe and uxsoft.cz/projects/awk, but these don't support forward-delete, home, page up, or page down.
    Thanks!

Fn and delete works for deleting stuff to the right of the cursor, if that's what you mean?

  • Why doesn't my forward delete key work on my apple keyboard with numeric keypad?

I bought a wired apple keyboard with numeric keypad to pair with my Mac Pro (late 2013) and when I try to use the forward delete key, it does nothing. I have even tried to use the fn + delete shortcut and that doesn't work either. I'm using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Again, waking up an old thread:
I first used an air compressor, set around 50psi, to "air out" all the ports.
Then I used a clean cloth to dab a bit of alcohol on an SD card's contacts... slid it in and out several times, dabbing a little more alchol each time... and voila!
All of our SD cards now seem to work fine... recognize, read, eject...
Also used alcohol to clean the contacts on all the cards.
