Quicklook shortcuts for multi page files

is there a keyboard shortcut or trackpad gesture to scroll through pages on a multi-page file in quicklook? for example, if i quick look a 10 page pdf, how do i scroll through pages without having to click on each page?

don't think i explained correctly. i know about scrolling on the side, but i want to scroll the pages in the main window. for example, i quick look a 5 page pdf, page one is the main view and the strip on the side has thumbnails of all five pages. i'm hoping there's a gesture or shortcut to bring up page two in main window without having to scroll to page two thumbnail and clicking on it. so, my ideal situation is hit spacebar [or three finger tap], i see page one, then "mysterious key" + down arrow [or whatever], and page two is the main view. the problem is, when i have files with a lot of pages and i'm looking for one in particular it's a pain to click through each page. might as well open the file and use pg down key...

Ah, I see want you mean. This might not be practical for you, but if you select one instance of the highlighted text and add a [space] to the little sticky note, all of the highlighted text on that page will appear in the summary.

Whether I use "preview all pages in browser" or export "html and images", the cursor changes to a hand over the links, but the links don't react to the mouse click. Also, when I export a multi-page file, I get as a result a listing of .gif files instead of .html files.

Hi Everyone!
I've been building an InDesign CS6 file for an iPad presentation, it contains video files, Edge Animate files, and more basic text and photos; there's 16 pages total so far. It is horizontal format only.
Now, there's a new page with 10 links, each is a link to a multi-page PDF article. I don't want the user to leave Adobe Content Viewer to view these documents. One solution I have is to convert each page to a JPEG, use the overlay feature to pan the image up and down to read it. A mini navigation will be built to jump from page to page or return to the originating link page. The problem is the user has to tap the image first to enable panning, not a big issue, but is not intuitive.
Is there another way I can display these pages while staying in the Content Viewer, keeping the iPad horizontal, and offering a "return" button to jump back to the originating page?

Thanks Bob, everything is in one folio, I'm going to give that a try. I've seen that solution in a video before but the whole folio/article definition and relationship is shaky in my head.

From a multi page file is there a way to extract a single page?

In Acrobat you can do the following to extract pages from the pdf:
Open the PDF in Acrobat and choose Tools > Pages > Extract.
Specify the range of pages to extract.
In the Extract Pages dialog box, do one or more of the following before you click OK:
To remove the extracted pages from the original document, select Delete Pages After Extracting.
To create a single-page PDF for each extracted page, select Extract Pages As Separate Files.
To leave the original pages in the document and create a single PDF that includes all of the extracted pages, leave both check boxes deselected.

Use Illustrator for multi-page document?

I'm usually in the FrameMaker and, to some extent, InDesign areas, but a potential client asked me to work on a document for them.
They are doing a quick reference guide (I would assume either a single sheet folded into six panels, or several sheets folded and stapled into a booklet), and are planning to do it in Illustrator.
I've done these before in InDesign, but wanted to know if there is some capacity in Illustrator for doing the document there, for either of the formats mentioned above.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes!
For that you use the artboard feature in Illustrator. When you create a new document, specify the number of artboards (aka pages) you need, and the amount of space between, etc. Once you have your document set up, zoom out and you'll see all the artboards laid out in the grid you specified. If you don't see them, make sure "show artboards" is checked in the view menu.
You won't be able to create a master page like you can in InDe, but you can paste in the same place on all the artboards--I believe the command (mac) is command+shift+option+V. You cut the original item (command+x) and then paste in place on all pages.
Interesting tidbits:
If you open the artboard palette, you can name the artboards. When you export, say to outlined EPS, you can choose to "use artboards" and you'll get a separate eps file for each artboard WITH THE NAME from the artboard palette, plus a file with all the artboards together. Saving as PDF makes a multi-page PDF as you would expect. You can choose to output just one artboard.
Also, with the artboard palette open, you can double-click on an artboard name and Illustrator will jump to that artboard at full screen size. Quite handy when you have a lot of artboards.
You can change the layout of your artboards by clicking in the upper right corner of the artboard palette and choosing rearrange artboards (or something close to that). Make sure everything is unlocked, otherwise they won't move with the re-jigger.
And finally, you can change the size of an artboard by using the artboard tool from the tool palette or by double-clicking on the artboard's icon in the palette, which will bring up a dialog box...
I am an InDesign lover, so I feel your pain. One of my clients is a manufacturer of retail items for which we design and prepare for print many packages/backer cards/etc. Before the artboard feature existed, we had a separate Illy file for each SKU. It has allowed us to be a lot more organized, and you don't get hit with seven gazillion files when you open up a folder. (I tried to get them to convert to InDe, but really, it's not set up for this kind of use, so I've had to learn the ins and outs of Illustrator and have come to appreciate it for many things. Alas, type manipulation isn't one of them, but it's designed to draw pictures, not set type.)

What is the keyboard shortcut for extract page?

There used to be a series of keyboard shortcuts for page manipulation (and other) - using acrobat 9 till recently. Now new to Acrobat XI Pro (Windows 8.1). I can see the shortcuts for insert & delete page but not for extract page (and other). Am I missing something? The keyboard shortcuts are a must for speed and a healthy right wrist.

There isn't a direct way of doing it, but you can "hack" it using a script. Create a folder-level script with this code:
app.addMenuItem({cName: "MyExtractPages", cUser: "E&xtract Pages", cParent: "Edit",
cExec: "app.execMenuItem(\"ExtractPages\");", cEnable: "event.rc = (event.target!=null)"});
This will add a new menu item to the Edit menu which you could access using the following keyboard shortcut: Alt+E, X

Yeah. sorry. those are not correct. ctrl N + P are for home and end line shortcuts. Ctrl V does go down one line. But CTRL arrow up or down do not work in Safari. But thank you very much for the attention and the time...

Template for multi-page flyer

Hi, I've had a request for a multi-page flyer. It will consistently have the realtors info, links to website and such, but he wants to be able to drop in different photos and text. I can lay all of this out in Indesign, and export as a PDF. The problem is I don't know what software he has, and what he will be adding the photos and text in.
Does anyone have any experience doing this and know what programs will work. I don't think Acrobat reader is equipped for this/

Keyboard shortcut for full page view (and many others) removed

After updating Acrobat from version 8 to 9 I had to learn that a lot of keyboard shortcuts were removed from Acrobat and there's no way to customize then. I was using all shortcuts for zooming, in particular the nearly Adobe-wide CTRL-0 to see a full page. This just does not work anymore -- what's the reason?
Is there any other way we can configure shortcuts? For me it is not acceptable to use the mouse for this.

I need to use CNTRL-click to open files with a different application than they default to all the time, and I am wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut for this? Some variation on CMND-O maybe?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Obviously you have found the CTRL-Click to get the menu to "Open with..." going.
You want to change a specific filetype to open with a specific app all the time:
Command+I (that's the Apple button+I) to Get Info on the file. Then, in the dialogue box that pops-up, you can choose to "Open With" as well as "Use this application to open all documents like this".

I have reports in SSRS. I am using remote reports. Reports have multiple pages.
In IE, the print button displays, but in Firefox and Chrome, it does not display.

The common workaround about print button on ReportViewer control for non-IE browsers is add ActiveX print control or create Print function. It has pros and cons.
I am not good at programming. But you can try to disable page breaks by setting InteractiveHeight to 0 so that the report will rendering in single page with Report Viewer control.

Did a test. Copy and pasted a page of my graphics into a new indd file and into a new master. New file works fine for exporting jpeg as well as pdf.
Must just be something wrong with the original. gremlins. No time to wonder why.

Shortcut for selecting multiple files within folders

I'm archiving a load of work on to CD and deleting the files off of my server but keeping the folders on there for reference.
Currently, I am having to SHIFT + click / COMMAND + click &drag to select these files and it is taking me forever.
Is there a keyboard shortcut that allows me to select all files within folders rather than just a select all which will select the folders aswell?

I would switch to list view, then click on the "Kind" column which will group the folders together. Now you can click and drag to select a large range of files, excluding the folders, or you can click on the first file, the Shift click on the last file to select a large range of files. At most you would need to do this twice. Once for files listed above folders, and once for files listed below folders.
If you want to use the Terminal, there are powerful Unix commands that can do this, however, that same power when misused can wipe out your disk :-)

Anyone know of a Lion-compatible Quicklook plugin for Illustrator CS5 files?

Thanks for this suggestion. I have tried SneakPeek Pro without success. The installer ran, created a plugin and a preference pane, but invoking QuickLook for Illustrator files still showed me just the file icon.
I have also tried the Adoview plugin. Same result.
I can't find good information on troubleshooting either of these plugins; this seems to be a pretty underdeveloped area. That's a surprise.
Any further suggestions (troubleshooting these plugins, hacks, other plugins) are more than welcome. Thanks!
