Quickly switch view settings within Outlook

I am searching for an option to save all of outlook's view settings (including the Navigation Pane, To-Do Pane, Ribbon, emails, calendar etc.) to a file, so that several 'profiles' can be set up to be chosen depending on what size of screen is being used.
e.g. when a laptop is connected to a 1920x1080 monitor in the office a lot more can be on display than when the built-in monitor is being used (on the train, for example).  Is there a built-in functionality, or an add-in that will do this?

No, it's not possible to save all the view settings in one "profile". However, we can do it separately.
For the emails and calendar views, please refer:
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/51
For the Ribbon, I haven't found a convenient way to change the view settings at once. A little complex way is:
Export or import a customized ribbon

  • Outlook view settings not saved

I have one user who looses all View settings when restarting Outlook. Occasionally they will save, but it is very rare. Setting the Reading Pane to Off is one good example of a setting that does not save.
The creation of new Views is also not saved. After restarting Outlook, the new View does not appear in Manage All Views.
I have tried creating a new Outlook profile and I'm told that Office 2013 C2R has been re-installed since this problem started.
Outlook 2013 Click-To-Run via an Office 365 E3 subscription. Exchange Online mailbox. Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Basically, Outlook view settings are stored in the default data file. If the data file is corrupt or recreated every time Outlook restarts, the view settings may be not saved.
Does the user use Outlook with Cached Exchange mode enabled? If so, please go to
C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files and check if you have multiple .ost files in the folder.
In addition, you may try to switch to turn off Cached Exchange mode and then test this issue again.
Please let me know the result.

  • Unable to access Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 within Outlook 2007

    All,
I uninstalled Smart View 11.1.1.3.x from my MS Windows 7 (x32) Professional SP1 machine and installed Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 during the same session (ie, without rebooting).
While SmartView comes up perfectly fine when I access Excel, Word and PowerPoint and I can connect to the various 11.1.2.3.00 EPM data sources, I cannot see the Smart View ribbon under MS Outlook. This is in spite of:
    - having changed my MS Office 2007 installation to run Visual Basic Scripting Support on my PC for MS Outlook 2007 only (ie, via Control Panel > Programs and Features > MS Office Standard 2007 > Change > Add or Remove Features);
    - deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions key and underlying sub-keys, after uninstalling 11.1.1.3 and before installing 11.1.2.5.216
There are no disabled COM add-ins displayed under MS Outlook 2007 and there were no further Hyperion-related entries (ie, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Hyperion.CommonAddin) to amend\delete under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns. Moreover, I searched but could not find the Smart View PST file on my machine.
Would anyone have any suggestions as to where else I could be looking and\or what else I could be doing to enable Smart View under MS Outlook 2007?
    Thanks in advance.
    JBM

    Hi JBM,
Yeah for SmartView in outlook it does need PST file and on installation it created it automatically.
Could you try adding smartview addin in outlook,
and browse hsaddin.dll and hstbar.xla which are smartview required files.hstbar.xla in mandate one. do try this. if it doesn't work then i would suggest you to try uninstalling SmartView
    reboot your machine
open cmd prompt with admin rights and navigate to the path where smartview executable is present and launch it through cmd prompt , it would install smartview with full admin rights and solve most of the issues.
    Thanks
    Amith

  • Download PDF files instead of viewing them within Safari?

I would like to automatically download PDF files instead of having to view them within Safari.
I have disabled Acrobat as the default reader and now Safari has switched to using Preview. However, I cannot find a way to also disable Preview to allow the PDF file to be downloaded instead of displayed within a Safari window.
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this seemingly simple task?

It's amazing to me that simply asking Safari to default to auto download a PDF is so arcane. It's incredible that Apple doesn't have a Safari preference for this very simple action!
The Terminal and Onyx methods recommended above are just ways of accessing a setting for Safari that Apple hasn't added to Safari Preferences. As I understand it, settings like this are built into Safari - they just aren't readily user-accessible. This is why programs like Onyx and Safari Enhancer exist, to open up "hidden" features and settings.
I imagine Apple's developers debate these things, trying to decide what would be simpler to leave out to avoid complexity and what confusion (but allow third-party or Terminal methods to access) and which would be better added to the regular Preferences settings.
Since this is a feature you'd like to see in Safari Preferences, I'd recommend submitting this as feedback to Apple.
In the meantime, though, I'd consider it a good thing that there are built-in ways to get the setting that you prefer. Personally, I don't find the default settings such a hindrance. They're intended to help the "average" user (the new Mac user, the non-technical user, etc.) who wants a PDF file to just open, without having to understand how to work with it. For the more savvy user, there are multiple methods of downloading and/or opening PDFs. I'm rather like you - I prefer to download PDFs (in which case I use the Control-click method if I notice the link is to a PDF) or sometimes I allow the PDF to open in Safari, then Control-click on the open PDF and choose the option to open in Acrobat Reader. I find the latter method even smoother than downloading and then opening, in fact. If I decide it's a file I want to keep, I save it to my hard drive; otherwise I just close it.

  • Problem with quick printing multiple .pdfs from Outlook 2010

    Hi there,
I have a user who is having problems printing multiple .pdf's using the quick print function in Outlook. I have tried reader 9,10 and 11.
11 errors when printing (nothing specific in the error message) and only 1 or 2 documents are printed.
9 and 10 error and report that a file is missing. Yet again, often prints 1 or two of the files.
I have reproduced the problem on my own PC.
Is there some type of bug with Adobe Acrobat printing multiple files using the quick print function within Outlook?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Will

I am not very skilled in Adobe by any means, but I was having the same issue.  When I did the Control P to print, I went into Print Options, then into Properties.  Under Adobe PDF settings, I unchecked the box that said "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." and that worked for me.
    Hope it helps.

  • Disabled last view settings

I am trying to display a pdf from simple html
    to a specific page such as <a href="test.pdf#page=55&view=Fit">Page 55</a><br>
This works fine but if I change to other pages from within the IE Browser window, exit and return utilizing this href I get returned to the last page viewed and not page 55 as needed.
If I use another href to say page 100 and then return to the href of page 55 I get the expected pages.  Problem is when I change from within the browser and return to the same href.
I have checked the original PDF preferences and last view settings is not checked.
    Using IE7
    Adobe Reader 9.4.0
Adobe Acrobat 8.2.2 to create the document

I am using Mac 10.9, by the way.

  • CRM 2011 - Exporting a view in 2011 Outlook Client

Using CRM 2011 on - premise with 2011 outlook client RU17
For a few custom entities exporting the default view to excel within Outlook Client results in a generic error pop up.
With tracing on I see the following error:
System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. Reference number for administrators or support: #0086DABC: System.Web.HttpUnhandledException (0x80004005): Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown.
---> Microsoft.Crm.CrmException: Number of link entities in query exceeded maximum limit.
The same view exports to Excel with no issues via IE.
I have seen references to this error but nothing that has helped or pointed out a difference to look at between the Outlook Client versus IE.
    Regards
    Robert

if this is machine specific and Outlook Client related then I would start with ensuring the machine has all the latest Office and OS updates not just the latest security patch but all the latest updates.  You'll also want to ensure there are no other
add-ins causing a conflict in Outlook, virus protection is not causing an issue, the machine has sufficient memory, etc.  Basically ensure the machine has been optimized for the Outlook Client.

  • View Settings Resetting

Ref: Windows 7 Pro SP1 and current version of iTunes
I launch itunes; sometimes I get the window that request you acknowleged the use of the software; Then when itunes opens
NO memu bar; No view settings
So I go to the little window Icon in the uppper left hand corner; and select "Show Menu Bar"
Then I go to View and select "Show Status Bar"
Then i go to View again and select "Show Side Bar"
Then I go to View for third time and Select "Show up next"
Now I am ready to use itunes...No problems using the applications.
Note: All the items in the Side Bar; i.e. Library; Playlists etc. are retained.
Upon completion of the session, I close itunes....
Next session...open itunes now maybe or maybe not itunes has saved my view settings; if settings are not saved, I have to go thur the view process again! I have found this behaviour is hit and miss and bloody annoying!
I MAY expect this behaviour if a new version was downloaded; but you would think they could keep a file in itunes that retains these settings. I have been unable to find any consistance in this behaviour .
    Question:
Is the resetting of view settings, as I have indicated above, normal behaviour?
Is there somewhere in this application that I can save these settings?

    Hi,
A view is a hidden message in your PST file. Try to repair your PST file using scanpst.exe:
Click Start, and then point to Find or to
Search, depending upon your operating system.
In the Search for files or folders named box, type scanpst.exe
Double click the Scanpst.exe file to open the Inbox Repair Tool.
Type the path and the file name of the personal folders (.pst) file or click
Browse to locate the file by using the Windows file system.
    Click Start.
If the problem persists, we may try to create a new PST file. When creating a new Outlook profile, a new pst is created for Inbox. So, create a new Outlook profile
to test the results. For detailed steps, refer to:

  • View settings not saving?

In tiger, i was able to close off the preview option and have it not display thumbnails in icons (e.g., any setting in the "view options" pane. now, they never save at all. anyone else having this issue? thanks.
    ryan

I want to "ditto" on this thread as well hoping our complaints collectively would be large enough for Apple to fix our view settings are not always saving permanently.
Even when I check "Always open in xxxx view" within the View Options pane.
It would appear my settings would take, but after awhile, or even after a restart, the folder would lose my view settings.
And 10.5.1 did not fix this bug.
I have been a die-hard Mac user since the Mac SE and Mac II. I've been reading with amusement as others berate the latest OS X update for not working properly. Then, I had always thought that they were over-reacting.
But now, with all of the problems I have gone through with Leopard on my Dual G5, I, too, have lost it. My anger and pain have pushed me to madness; from the little annoying problems like this seemingly innocuous bug, to the unacceptable restarts and complete OS 10.5 fresh install I had to do because of system instability and/or application instability, I've never encountered so much personal frustration in an OS X upgrade in the past.
Even initially, I was bemused by public rants on the failures of 10.5 after I had upgraded. But now after having to reinstall 10.5 from scratch, I'm at the point of crying foul myself to anyone who would listen: STAY AWAY FROM 10.5.

  • Folder 'View' settings via PowerShell?

I have a need to copy a folder and make sure it is showing Medium Icon view. I had hoped that the Medium Icon setting was just folder metadata and would copy with the folder, but that seems not to be the case. So now I am trying to figure out where this
info is stored, and how to modify the setting with PowerShell. Given that the manual approach is not to right click on the folder, but within the folder, I am stumped in how to proceed.
    Gordon

There's a tool called ShellBagsFolder which can be used to determine which registry key contains the folder view settings, but I strongly suspect this would be different for each computer.  There are a series of GUIDs that are also associated with the
folder (there's no human readable string that has the folder path) which you might be able to search for and find the hook between the folder path and the registry key so you don't need the third party utility as part of your script.
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shell_bags_view.html
If you download and install it and run it, you can search through the list of folders that will be displayed, right-click on it, and select Open Slot Key in Registry to open Regedit to the parent key for the folder.
I hope this post has helped!

  • Global Folder View Settings

    Hello,
Is there an app for Mac OS 9 that will allow me to change the global folder view settings for things like Window Size & Position, Order of Columns, and Icon or List View? It seems that I spend too much time trying to get new windows to look like I want them to. I have searched for shareware apps with no success.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi, David -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
I'm not aware of any 3rd-party utility that can do all of that, or even much of it.
There is a work-around that will take care of most of it.
When a folder is created via the New Folder item in the File menu, that folder is automatically granted the defined characteristics (view, order, arrangement, etc.) of the enclosing, or parent, folder. For this purpose, the desktop is considered to be a folder.
If you have a preferred group of settings, set up an empty folder with those settings. Put it in a convenient place. Then, when you want to create a folder with those same characteristics, open that folder and create the new folder within it. The new daughter folder will be given the characteriestics of the parent folder. You can then move the newly created folder wherever you want, and it will retain those settings.

    Hi TomG101,
It seems that there is a configuration conflict on the virtual switch port .
Also I tested the command on my lab , it works .
For troubleshooting please  create a new virtual switch then try to configure again .
Any further information please feel free to let us know .

  • MRP Views Settings

    Dear Friends
To run Forecast based MRp for a Finished product i need the Following Settings
    1) MRP views settings for Finished product and their BOM raw materials
    2) where have to enter the Forecast values
3)How to Run MRP- basic settings
what are pre step before run MRP.
It would be very helpful if u respond quickly, i have to implement in 2 days.
    thanks
    Shivani

    Hi Shivani,
I think you are talking about consumption based planning.
Following are the Pre Requisites before running MRP
    u2022Define MRP types
Path: SPRO u2013 IMG u2013 MM u2013 Consumption based planning u2013 Master data u2013 MRP Types
This will determine the MRP procedures, forecast usage and select automatic calculation of either safety stock / re-order  point
    u2022Define MRP areas
Path: SPRO u2013 IMG u2013 MM u2013 Consumption based planning u2013 Master data u2013 MRP Areas u2013 Define MRP areas
We define this for combination of plant, SLoc and Vendor.
Note: MRP area and plant must be the same.
u2022Maintain MRP relevant data at Plant/SLoc level using TCode MM01
    - MRP 1, MRP 2 and MRP 3 are for plant level data:
You need to maintain here the MRP type, forecast model and the period indicator.
In MRP1, you can maintain the Re-Order point and Lot Size
In MRP2, you can maintain Safety stock and planned delivery time parameters.
    - MRP 4 is for SLoc level data.
u2022 Create MRP profiles (using Tcode MMD1)
Using this, you can maintain general parameters for materials. The MRP parameters defined here will be independent of the
      material master.
u2022 Set material status for cross site / plant in material master.
Material status for Cross site will be assigned in the u2018Basic datau201D view whereas Material status for u201CPlantu201D will be assigned in
      MRP 1 view.
After having all these pre-requisites maintained, you can run the MRP as Single Item or Multi Level.  Check TCode MD01 / MD02 / MD03 / MD04
    Hope this helps you.
Let me know if you need anything further.
    Regards,
    Nikita

  • Finder's View settings: Use as default" won't stick

Under 10.6, it seems Finder doesn't apply the same settings to all folders if i press Use as default in the View settings. I've tried setting things as i want them in various folders incl the top most folder of the computer itself. It seems different settings are applied not only on the various internal drives but also on subfolders within a drive after i've pressed use as default on a top folder.
Is there any way to fix this apart from deleting the Finder plist?
    /p

    I'm having the same problems.
I read in another thread that you need to delete your com.apple.finder.plist file in ~/LIbrary/Preferences and then restart. I tried this and it didn't work...
    Any other ideas?
