I have 2 G4 both hand me downs. The digital audio is a beautiful machine, that was wiped clean with just it's fresh OS to which I was able to upgrade 10.4.11 and add firefox browser and use it with AOL dial-up.
The other is the Quicksiver: well this is the one with the obsticles. This machine when it loads has these displays with network configuring and network intialization, and all sorts of other flashes of loading discriptions. I got no network. This doesnt happen with my digital audio. one person discussed that the dram battery may be low
So I downloaded the Firefox browser cause this machine has the awful Internet Explorer 5.1 When I go to click to open the firefox 3.6.13dmg it does not load and the window pops up that i have inserted a disc with no volumes that the OS X can read. AS on my digital audio i was able to get the firefox to my dock bar. Whats happening?

But this quicksilver came from a school and wonder if the settings prevent downloading or opening up a downloaded file such as the firefox browser since there is all this loading network stuff at start up
Can you explain that in more detail what is happening?

ShowHide onclick not working in Firefox nor Safari

I have a real estate site that's been up for a while. The floor plans showHide is now not working in Firefox nor Safari (still works in IE). I would swear that it previously was working (6 months ago?).
I'm sure I have a coding error someplace -- or have upgrades in the browsers disallowed the showHide script? I'd rather not have to completely rewrite the page if I don't have to, so a quick fix would be preferable to having to rewrite the entire page.
The page is a simple 3-layer: the default visible layer is a plain site plan. Imagemap showHide on mouseover create a mouse-over effect on each of the units; that mouseover aspect works properly in all browsers (it's showing and hiding any of 4 images depending on where the mouse is on the page). What is not working is the onClick hot spot on each of the highlight images; the blank a=href"" comes up rather than the onClick... desitination. Make sense?
I tried both using the onClick within an <a> tag and on the image iteself (no <a> tag). Neither works (except, again, in IE).
I'm still on CS3; perhaps that's the issue? I've been surfing to see if my script is outdated but unable to find anything useful, so thought I'd try this forum. In my header, this is the FUNCTION that Dreamweaver put in. Is v9.0 current?

This is a very unusual attempt. You have both an anchor tag wrapping the image, AND hotspots on the image. I'm not surprised you are finding a conflict between those two.

Z400 Discs with EFI partition not mounting after Win 7 Pro upgrade

HP z400: After a repair/upgrade of Win 7 Pro (64) sp1, any external disc with an EFI partition will not mount. Drive will be present in BIOS and Disc Management, though without a letter. Unable to assign a drive letter. All other discs mount correctly. Drives with EFI partition will mount on other PCs. All drivers appear to be current and fuctional.

I figured it out... after two weeks of head-scratching, I finally found the cause.
I run MacDrive 8 so i can read discs with HFS+ formatting. That program needed to be fully uninstalled and re-installed after the upgrade. I had de-activated it prior to the upgrade, but it needed more than that. Everything works now as expected.
But wouldn't it be ince if Windows would read mac discs natively?

Background images are not loading in Firefox nor IE, running Win 7 Home Premium

Win 7 laptop does not load background type images in either Firefox or IE.
XP laptop shows background images while using page info/media tab.

Download folder does not display downloaded files; nor ask destination

When I download a file, the Download folder opens but does not display the downloaded file. If I set the option to Ask for destination, it doesn't ask, just opens the Download folder with nothing displayed. This is happening on two machine.

If you want to keep a file that is opened in an external program then you either need to save it in the program if it permits or use "Save Link As" in the right-click to save the file. Files opened in an external program are never guaranteed to stay in the location, so editing a text file of other file that is opened in a program and save it under the same name will likely cause you to lose this edit.

I downloaded Firefox 4 and now Firefox doesn't offer to restore my session after I've rebooted. I really liked that feature of Firefox. How do I get it back?

I was happy with Firefox as it was. I had the latest version and it worked perfectly. Then I was notified by Firefox that I should update to Firefox 4. If I'd known it would wipe out my cookies and would not include my "restore session" button that I liked so much, I would not have downloaded Firefox 4. It doesn't offer to restore my browsing session after I reboot and I can't find a way to tell it to do that. Please fix this ASAP and tell me how to make it work on my computer! Thanks.

With Windows XP I have Firefox 4 and am trying to download Firefox 6 but it rejects saying I need Windows 2000 or newer

Tried several times to download Firefox 6 as upgrade to Firefox 4 and near end of download I get error message that I need Windows 2000 or newer. I have windows XP 2002. Cannot find error in my system.

This is typically caused when an add-on changes the user agent string (identifies the version of Firefox). To rectify this you can reset your user agent string.

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

How can I download Firefox 4.o to upgrade from Firefox 3.6.16, if after following all instructions the 2-minute download process is completed, but the download window is empty, and Version 4.0 is not installed?

A pop-up box in the lower right corner of the screen says the download is complete. But a search of the entire hard drive does not locate the files. I've tried restarting Firefox, restarting Windows---and even shutting down and restarting the computer---after each attempt at downloading, with no different results. I've also tried disabling other programs like V-Tuner and Eudora before downloading. I have no trouble downloading other files, including my original installation of Firefox plus the upgrades. My current version of Firefox (3.6.16) is still working just fine; I tried to upgrade only because 4.0 was announced on-screen today, and I thought I might as well have the latest thing. My operating system is Windows 2000, which I see listed as compatible.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.

Get what denoted in what properties link.
You can get the version number in Help -> About Firefox,
and in '''about:support''' typed into the Location bar, and you can use JavaScript to list the user agent -- javascript:navigator.userAgent
I'm not aware of any version of Firefox from Fx 2 on up to Fx 6 where "AVG Safe" is not a problem. Crashes aren't the only failures caused.

You're trying to go through a proxy which isn't working. Assuming you don't normally use a proxy to connect to the internet, do this:
Tools, options, advanced, connection settings, set no proxy.
Causes for this may include anything which monitors or forwards newtork traffic on your computer (tools like fiddler2 or tor). It may also be that you are on a network which requires a proxy to access the intenet (some corporate and university networks do this).

Mac OS 10.5.6 downloaded Firefox 3.6.13 Came as .dmg When I try to launch it says "Not Recognized". Right click for "Open With" refers me to Disk Utility when same results "Not Recognized"

When I attempt to launch the .dmg file to decompress I get a error message that says: The following disk images failed to mount: Image > Firefox 3.6.13 Reason > Not Recognized. When I right click to see what opening app it is directed to it says: Open with "DiskImageMounter (default). Disk Utility is offered as another opening resource when I direct the file to Disk Utility and go to Menu Bar select "File" then select "Open Disk Image" (or Cmd + "O") I get the same result. Have tried downloading the file twice more and get the same results

Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted. Where are you downloading the update from? Have you tried downloading again?
