Some aspects of you problem remain unclear. Are you saying that no "player window" opens, no "navigation window" opens, or the app itself does not open in the "Menu Bar" at all? Further, is the problem manifest itself globally or only in one user account? Nor is it clear if you are referring to the QT Player icon always being displayed in the dock or simply when/if the app is opened.
For instance, it is normal for a player window not to appear if no source media file was selected/opened via the finder. On the other hand, the failure of a navigation window or the app itself to open may indicate a system, app, or PLIST file (if still used) corruption problem. In the latter case, I would normally recommend switching to a secondary or guest user account to see if the problem is global or local to your primary account. If local, then you could either isolate/fix the local issue and fix it (e.g., locating and deleting an associated PLIST file if still used); create a new "primary" account, transfer required resources from the old to the new user account, and then delete the problem account; or simply re-install the entire system.
Unfortunately, under the latest version of Yosemite, the QT X Player is considered "essential" and the system, under normal circumstances, will not allow you to remove or delete the app any longer—probably because users in the past deleted the player on purpose or by accident on a wholesale basis and Apple does not provide downloads of the QT X Player independent of the operating systems with which they are associated forcing novice users to re-install their entire system or forcing more experienced users to re-extract the compatible player software for re-installation. Unfortunately, while it is still possible to re-extract the QT v10.4 Player from the installer package, the same system routines that prevent you from removing/deleting the player also prevent you from copying/replacing the current plater in the "Applications" folder.
Basically, what you should/can do depends on the specific nature of your problem and how well versed you are with the system.

Firefox crashes (does not open at all) since I updated to version 3.6.4. Not even when I re-downloaded it several times. Now, even the old version doesn't start. I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.4. It doesn't show that pop up window that explains why it crashed. It just stops and quits.

    Hello everyone.
Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

I did not use my computer yesterday, and now all of a sudden, Firework does not open at all after clicking on its icon or starting as a program. I did not download any upgrades or anything else, and I have Norton 360 version 3. I can open Internet Explorer, but that's not my default browser, so I have no problem with the Internet connection.
What could be the problem, how can I restore my browser without losing my bookmarks, settings, etc?

If you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? For instructions on starting in Safe Mode, see [[Safe Mode]]. Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem. Start the application with the option key down. It will let you choose which libraries to open. Choose to create a new one, then see if it can open the old ones.
After you find which library causes the problem, try opening a backup version of it, like Tom said. Backups are by default in a folder Final Cut Backups inside the Movies folder.

  • Downloaded Latest Itunes but now it does not open at all, with no error msg

I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes for my Laptop. I have recently moved my internet to my laptop so i have been updating software for the past two days.
However, when the download of Itunes is finish i can not open it. There is no error message at all, it just does not open, it just begins to load with the 'hourglass' waiting symbol and then stops. I can't open it at all.
I am runnin on Windows XP and had no previous trouble with the older version of iTunes. I am now regretting that i even updated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Claudia.

I had exactl the same problem, it drove me crazy for about one week. Actually both 7.1.1 and any 6.x version didn't want to install on my PC.
7.1.1 just downloaded ok and than after running it terminated with no message and no action.
I tried almost everything: from manually removing all WinXP Registry entries to checking the entrire Win installation.
I also tried to download itunes from a different PC, but again same result.
Finally, I gave it a try to download iTunes from a different web site and... everything worked flawlessy!!
The only conclusion I came to is a possible issue between my network/firewall/ISP settings and Apple download services.. very hard to justify in real world but I can't think of anything else.
So my advice is to look for another web site hosting iTunes for donwload and give it a try!
    Good luck

  • Firfox Does not open at all not even Profile Manager.

Ok so as of i believ yesterday, Firefox does not open. I can click on the Firefox icon a million times and in my taskmanager it will show all the instances of firefox running, however, it does not open and i am forced to use IE (which i hate). I have looked through the trouble shooting guide and was recommended to create a new profile, and when i try to open the profile manager, it does the same thing, shows up in task manager but does not open the Profile Manager.
Now i have uninstalled Firefox TWICE and even selected the checkmark which deleted all the setting and bookmarks the second time to see if that helped. But it does the same thing.
Please HELP ME!! i can't express how mucvh i hate IE and will die if i have to continue using it. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!

    Solved. (or resolved)
G'day. I'm visiting on my Firefox browser - Yay. Thought I'd update this. After I wrote this last night, (with IE browser) the confirmation e-mail's link wouldn't even work.
I deleted the offending program. I used CC Cleaner to run through the computer. Still no go. I went to bed with AVG scanning everything.
I woke to find AVG had done it's work, finding 2 problems and fixed. Still no access to mozilla.
I shut down whole computer (intending to start in safe mode). Got distracted and missed the bootup prompt. Logged on anyway, so I'd have something to tell the 'help' line here.
Woo hoo! I must have done something right, because here I am, via the link in last night's email.
The offending program was via 'Ancestry . com'. I'm off to tell them now.
I'm hoping this might assist someone else. Take care - Jo

Safari 5.1.5 will not open at all - the dropdown menus are greyed out.  My OS is Lion 10.7.3 - (iMac)  I cannot download and install an earlier version and Mac won't let me get rid of Safari 5.1.5.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • I downloaded firefox but it does not open at all.i need help.

i click on firefox on my desktop home screen, but nothing happens it does not open. i use to use it all the time until i updated it,after that is when the promblem started.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I've run all kinds of scans on my computer for viruses or malware and found nothing. Everytime I try to open firefox, I get the crash reporter and it will not open at all. ipad2 can not open at all please help

    Try a reset or reboot.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Itunes does not open at all

When I click on the desktop icon for my itunes, it does not open. Instead a window opens that says, +The itunes application could not be opened. The required folder could not be found.+ My folder was not deleted. It is still on my computer. I can acess it, in my user account. But I can't open itunes anymore.

Hi b noir, thanks for your reply. I did initially look at the itunes trouble shooting page and I tried to follow what they said to do for user specific trouble shooting. But I have no idea where to find this: ■C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    ■C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
So I can't do it if I can't find it on my machine. I'm assuming 'C' means disk C? and I found 'users' when I right clicked 'Explore'. Then I found my user name and opened it. Then I was lost because I cannot find AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes or AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes. So I was unable to go any farther. That's when I posted my problem here. Can you or anyone else help me farther? Unfortunately I need something more specific, then what itunes trouble shooting is prepared to give. I forgot to add that my pc is shared and my kids' itunes open just fine. So this is definitely a user specific problem! Is it possible that something I downloaded the other day, corrupted the library? I deleted the offending song, and re-started, but itunes still didn't open. Not that I expected it to work that easily but it was worth a try.

  • Quicktime 10.1 does not open .wmv files

    Hi all,
I got a new imac running Lion and Quicktime 10.1.  Not only can't I open .wmv files sent to me (I used to be able to open them fine with Flip4Mac on my old imac running Tiger), but now trying to open them crashes Quicktime. I have tried downloading the latest version of Flip4Mac-  no go.
I have been reading about an older version of Quicktime.  Should I be downloading that?
    Thanks for any help.
