Quicktime 7.0.3 - Two Help menus?

I've just installed QT Player 7.0.3 on Tiger. I just happened to glance upwards to the top of the screen and noticed that the menu bar now offers the following menus: File, Edit, View, Window, Help ... and Help again. Has anyone else seen two "Help" menus?

Try removing the older divx codec and install this. The site specifically mentions that it eliminates the double help menu problem.

  • Two Help Menus? o.O

I've just added a help book to my cocoa application, and after compiling I noticed something strange: suddenly there were two Help menus (one with a search and the other without it). They both link to my help book, but one doesn't show in Interface Builder! How to remove it?
Has anyone else had this issue, and managed to fix it?

You can replace it with DivX Fusion

Also, QuickTime components can be in ~/Library > QuickTime, as well as /Library > QuickTime

  • Two help menus

    Hi Everyone,
I have a bit of a weird problem with Pages. I have two help menus. The second one only has Pages Help in it but it doesn't work. The other one has the origional settings and works fine. Does anyone know how to remove the second one. I would just reinstall Pages if I could but I'm on a trip and I left the install DVD at home.

    Hi Eric
    Thanks for the help.
I tried your suggestion without success. I also tried creating a test user account and login in with that but unfortunately Pages still has two help menus. I have no problem with any other program so I don't know what the deal is. I suspect I'll have to trash pages completely and do a reinstall. I even tried reapplying the Pages 1.0.2 update again.
Can you think of anything else. It doesn't cause any problems it just looks annoying.

  • Duplicate menu - two help menus in iWork '08 programs

After installing iWork '08 I have two Help menus side by side, only in iWork '08 programs - Pages, Numbers, Keynote. The first Help menu lists all the items the menu should properly have, the second only lists, e.g., " "Pages Help". I've fixed permissions, optimized the drive, checked Voice Over (off), reset Help, reset the prebindings. Finally, I deleted the suite along with its plists and package receipt. After reinstalling, same problem. Any help with removing the second Help menu would be appreciated.

I just ran across this exact same problem. Help Files weren't opening in the 30 Day Trial, so I uninstalled (drug iWork to the trash) and re-installed iWork. I now can't say if I had 2 Help menues before or not.
The only "hacks" I have running are Clear Dock and Quicksilver.
I don't see any other misbehavior with the software, and the Help files now open for me. Just odd all the way around.

  • Why have I got TWO help menus in iCal?

Why have I got two Help menus in iCal, one beside the other? I'd post a screen shot but I can't find any way to do that.

Try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Mail, restart your Mac, then go back and check Mail again.  See if that doesn't eliminate one of them.

  • Quicktime Title Bar - Two help menus ?

    Hi
In the Quicktime Title bar I have two help tabs ? How do I get rid of one please?
    Regards
    Nick.

It's caused by the DivX component (a third party codec).
Remove it from your HD/Library/QuickTime folder and relaunch QuickTime.
Search for a Tiger compatible version.

  • I have two podcast menus and iTunes crashes when sync'ing

I have used iTunes for my podcast subscriptions for years, but suddenly after donwloading a new podcast, i now have two podcast menus i my navigation bar.
I moved the last podcast from podcasts to books hence it was an audiobook, but the menu item remains, and i no longer get the count for items i havent listned to, yet.
Furthermore, the last downloaded podcast still remains in the menuitem but without any media in it.
I have now deleted the podcast container, and restarted iTunes, but all that got me was two podcast menus where one is just empty.
Finally, iTunes crashes everytime i try to sync my podcast subscriptions, iTunes crashes
I' running Lion 1.7.2 (with server) and iTunes 10.5.3 and no updates are available in either the appStore nor software update.
Everything (except Server) is in Danish.
Anyone have an idea on what to do?
    /Michael H.

He he.  A little while later, I found this post:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3631661?start=0&tstart=0
Which helped me a bit to solve it that way.  Apparently iTunes thinks that the original Podcast entry in the Library is a kind of playlist, which can be deleted.  The new one can't.  So, I needed to resubscribe to my podcasts in the new one and delete the old (right click/control click) on the Podcast item and choose delete.
So there may be two ways to fix it. Hope this post helps out others in the future.

  • Help menus not working for CS5 Production Premium

I have installed the trial version of CS5 Production Premium on a Windows 7 64-bit PC. I canot get the Help menus to work for any of the applications.
Is this a limitation of the CS5 trial version?
I recently purchased Premiere Elements, but I did not deactivate it before installing Windows 7 on my PC. Would this interfere with the help menus for CS5?

I think the Adobe site was down for maintenance a few days ago. My CS5 Help menus are working fine today.

  • How to fix non-working CS6 product Help menus

I had been running the CS6 Master Collection trial download version.  I could not access the "Online Help" and "Support Center" choices in the main Help menu on any of the CS6 applications.  The options were not working, able to connect, or gave errors because the Help folder did not exist or was corrupted.
If you have this problem, you don't need to uninstall and reinstall your product or the suite. The problem is corrupt or missing help files.
This is what I'm running: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Adobe Support provided this solution for both desktop and netbook.
    Close all running Adobe applications.
In the Windows directory C:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe/, delete the "Adobe Help" folder.
    (C:Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Help/).
    Reboot.
Go to the Adobe Community Help center at http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/ to get the latest Adobe Help Manager.
On the left side of Hep Center, skip Step 1 and click the "Install Now" button in Step 2.
Choose to save "AdobeHelp.air" in the application or programs folder on your computer.
When the new Adobe Help Manager app opens, choose "General Settings."
Select "No" for "Display Local Help content only settings" so you can access both online and local help.
At the bottom of the settings window, click "Download" to download all the latest PDF and lcoal content. The downloaded folders are more than 1 GB for the CS6 Master Suite help files. Watch at the bottom left of the download window to see the small progress meter.
    Once done, reboot.
My CS6 Master Collection help menus throughout were fixed.
Thanks Tom! ...at Adobe Support for this fix procedure.
I hope this helps someone else out there.

This is not working for me. I follow the instructions to the T and still I have the exact same problem - no offline help is available. When I open the Help Manager and it shows that the help files are current and I click one and then ask to open the PDF, I get nothing happening at all.
If I click in Help Manager to see offline help only, hitting F1 in AE does nothing. If I allow Help Manager to view both offline and online help and hit F1, no problem; as long as I'm online!
There was another fix listed to resolve this issue that did nothing too. For some time it was just wait until June, well the PDF files are available but Help Manager has become Frustration Inducer.
    Where to now?

  • File, Edit, and Help menus disappearing

Upon starting Adobe Reader 10.1.4 everything appears normal as shown below.
    http://i.imgur.com/ucLKz.png
After about 2-4 seconds the File, Edit, and Help menus suddenly disappear, looking like this.
    http://i.imgur.com/t3LRo.png
This happens for every PDF opened and even happens if Reader is opened by itself without a PDF. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the issue persists. The Help menu is usable just barely long enough to perform a repair installation, but it does not help. F9 does not bring them back. The system is running Windows 7 64-bit. Any ideas on how to correct this?

Check the JavaScript folder to see if you any files other than the *.BIN file.  If you do, then move the extras out of the JavaScripts folder and restart Adobe Reader.

  • All help menus no longer work after installing Mavericks

After installing Mavericks on my iMac all help menus no longer work. You still get the drop down box which contains the search window and other choices, but if you try clicking on them the screen just flashes or you might get a box that says " safari help is not available". It does this system wide, doesn't matter what application your in. My internet works fine but for some reason in Mavericks the help menus are not accessing this information. Anyone else have this problem? Or an answer?
    Thank you!

Finally, a quick restart of the mac and all help menus are working again.

  • German purchased Mac Book, switching to English help / menus etc.

I live in Germany and am thinking of buying a Mac Book with a standard German keyboard. How easy is it to get this machine to display help / menus in English but keep the German characters active upon the keyboard?

change the language to english and the keyboard to german... both are accessable in the system pref.

  • Help Menus - JavaScript

I've upgraded from a G5 to a MacPro and also from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I migrated the drive from my old Mac to my new one.
For some reason, now I'm unable to access the Help menus in the FCP suite (Help menus for other software work) on my MacPro. When I try to open a Help menu, I get a notice saying that JavaScript must be enabled. However, I've checked the preferences in Firefox (my default browser) and Safari, and JavaScript was already enabled.
In Safari's preferences I made a change to make Safari my default browser and rebooted the Mac hoping that might work magic . . .got the same result.
Any idea what's going on here? I need help getting "Help."

I had an extra drive put into my MacPro for that very purpose. I've already lost so many days of work that I needed to get up and running fast, so I decided to migrate from my old computer for now. When I have the time, I'm going to do a clean reinstall of everything on that second drive and get it running smoothly. I haven't done a clean reinstall for many years, and I know it's time.

  • Help menus

My sisters help menus for different apps and the mac help menu are all slow and/or unresponsive. Is there a way to clear this up?

My help menu is also unresponsive--I have no idea why. Of course I just google what I need to know and usually end up satisfied--wo knows?
I would like it fixed--but I am not too picky. I have the cpu whine, a sticky H key, a slightly bent lid, the hardware error, and I had 3 kernal panics during the first day and a half--but that went away.
Computers always have problems, this book is so much nicer than my Ibook, but thank goodness someone devised "Quiet MBP" to keep this thing silent on battery life, otherwise I would have returned it--as it stands, I have applecare and will keep it and get it reparied for free if anything major develops.
