Quicktime 7.0.4 Fixes 5.1 audio issues in Quicktime video

Just FYI, the new version of Quicktime (7.0.4) will fix the 5. surround sound issues on Creative soundcards. Prior versions of Quicktime 7 would not play the center channel's audio at all.
I've talked to an engineer at Apple, and he said this is Creative's fault, and they actually had to work around/figure out their own fix to it. Go figure.

Well, it doesn't really matter what I think, I suppose.. In the end, I wasn't able to play 5. sound through Quicktime + Creative hardware for nearly a year. That's really pathetic. Someone at Creative or someone at Apple dropped the ball... and the consumer paid for it. I actually spent a chunk of change upgrading my soundcard to an X-Fi, thinking it would fix the Quicktime issue.
I contacted Creative via technical support, begging them to look into the issue and talk to Apple to get it resolved, but I essentially got a "that's third party software, and we can't do anything about it" answer. Hah, that's funny. I guess they're expecting no-one to use their soundcard? You'd think they'd be anxious to hear about applications that don't work 00% with their hardware.
On the other hand, on contacting Apple's technical support, I actually was able to e-mail a Quicktime engineer back/forth... and he stated that they had found the cause of the bug and it would be fixed in the (now released) new version. That's when he also told me it was due to something specific with Creative's drivers/hardware. Who knows if he's lying/exagerrating/whatever. All I know is that my Creative soundcards did not work in 5., while all other soundcards I had laying around did..
Anyhow, it's fixed now, so I'm a happy camper.

If that does not help, we can progress to the Graduate solution. As Dustin Hoffman learns as the Graduate, " one word for you - audio mixdown".
Ok, so its two words and that isn't what they said anyway ... still, try to compress down the number of audio tracks (audio mixdown) to ease the computing demands on output. Also, make sure all areas where there is audio are covered by video - for example - put a black slug in the video track if you fade to black in an area where there is still audio running under.
If these don't work for you, it would help us enormously if you gave some basic info about your project. FCP version? Media type? VTR? compexity of edits? you know the stuff...

Audio Issues in Facetime & Video Recording

I'm having some major mic issues when using FaceTime or recording video on the iPhone 4. The sound is mainly static - you can just about hear other sounds, but it's very quiet and washed out by the static. The mic audio on calls, voice notes is fine - it's just on FaceTime and video recording.
Apple support have no idea (the agent I spoke to seemed to think it was related to my network provider and text messaging, which makes no sense whatsoever).
Anyone else had this problem? Any fixes out there?

I was right there with you. I posted early on in this thread and was working with tech support on the phone. We worked for a few days and it was like I was having to do too much work on my end. Nothing was working and they were so busy. Someone else posted that they took theirs back and it was an easy swap. I had already made an appointment at the apple store as a backup so I decided to drive the 50 miles. It was so easy....the guy really did not care too much about me working with support. He just tried a restore and was able to repeat the issue. Not saying that all stores are like that but I have had very good results with other apple products and getting support at the genius bar. Good luck...but you may be waiting a while. Seems that the hot topic for them is really the "reception" issue.

Audio issues when editing video clips

Sorry if this been asked before and I’m having trouble looking for the answers on my own. I will start by saying that I have the latest built of Premiere and that’s CS4.2
I’m trying to edit 720 60p clips natively from my Panasonic GH1 camcorder and I have it set to interpret footage to 29.97 for slow motion. Its edits very well but sometimes when I use the razor tool to split a file, the second part of that clip will no longer play the audio. I even noticed a clip that had the audio missing half way when I didn’t even use the razor tool. Another time it was several clips in a row that was missing the audio.
This isn’t the first time. I was trying to edits clips on standard speed and I noticed that one of the clips couldn’t play the audio. I ended up saving everything and restart Premiere and luckily the audio was their. This time, with the slow motion clips, restarting Premiere is no help at all. I could start over on a fresh time line but I want to see if theirs any other solutions first.
I hope I was clear enough.

Audio issue with Youtube video

I am creating some videos to upload to Youtube. I am having a problem with audio. I am creating and uploading using Adobe Premiere CC and Media Encoder. When I upload the video to Youtube, I have no issues. The problem I am facing is when I play it on mobile phone, I get now audio tracks (vocal) playing through the phones speaker. I do get the audio track I rendered through After Effects. However, I can hear the vocals On a PC, Ipad etc. I can hear the vocals through a headphone plugged into the phone or via bluetooth. I am using the H.264 codec with youtube 1080 settings. Any suggestions and yes I have tried a different phone to see if it was and issue with the phone.

Apple TV Audio Issues with itunes Videos

Hi Guys,
i am really hoping someone can help me with this as its driving me crazy and i cant seem to find anyone else with a similiar issue in the vast rececess of the interenet. Up in my Studio i have a 2010 imac with everything up to date in terms of updates, hooked up to that i have my lacie external hardrive that contains all my tv shows and films that i have ripped from dvds using Handbrake on apple TV settings.
Downstairs i have a 3rd generation apple TV hooked up to my Sony TV via HDMI, the apple TV is connected directly to a network port in the wall and so is the imac, I use the computer tab on apple TV to watch the films and shows stored on my lacie on my TV downstairs and everything works beautifuly EXCEPT every now and then i will add a new show or film to my itunes and for some reason my apple TV doesnt like it very much!
for example; i have ripped and converted three seasons of father ted to my hardrive and added it to my itunes, it plays perfectly on my imac using itunes, but when i click to view it on the apple TV downstairs the audio has been sped up! the picture is running at normal speed... i have also had a few shows play fine on the imac and yet when they play on apple TV the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the picture.
Its very frustrating as its random and i cant find a solution to it, and i can normally figure these things out! i have tried:
- reconverting the shows and adding to itunes
- deleting from itunes, resetting apple TV and itunes and adding them again
- looking for any similarities in the files affected
im getting NOTHING!
any ideas or help would be massively appriciated as im at a loss as to what to try next!

Managed to solve this problem myself, it turns out that the files that were causing issues had two audio tracks attached, when the file is loaded i press and hold the middle button to bring up the options, from there press right to the middle tab and change the audio from surround to normal and it plays at normal speed, i have no idea why it was doing this but i can now watch ALL my material finally! hopefully this helps someone else!

This fix will resolve audio issues of a software nature resulting in the KitKat update. If your issue persists after applying the specific update mentioned in this thread and have done a factory reset, the issue is likely hardware related and not the result of the KitKat update.

Audio issues after update 6.0.1?

Is there a fix for the audio issues I'm having after update 6.0.1? I have audio for music and videos, but none for anything else. I have checked all my settings everything is on and loud and the test for all of it seems to work, but then it doesn't actually work, and that excludes all my apps have no sound either.

Alesis iO Dock Audio issues: up- or downgrade iOS?

i recently bought the Alesis iO Dock Audio Adapter for the iPad.
(iPad2 GSM, iOS 5.0.1, iO Dock Firmware v1.0.7)
Under iOS 5 i am experiencing all the annoying audio issues described here:

My understanding is that there is no possibility of using the iO Dock with iOS 5, as 5.0.1 doesn't seem to do anything about it.
(tried everything from reset to resinstallation)
As this seems to be a Software issue with iOS, i would really like to see Apple giving me at leat the possibility to either
- downgrade back to iOS 4, which i'm absolutely willing to do as audio recording is the main purpose i got the iPad for
or
- install at least a iOS 5.1 beta Version, which i'd also be willing to do, but not coming with a price tag of a developer account which i don't need.
I really would like to see some support for this issue.
If iOS has unsolved issues like this, users should at least be able to downgrade.

update:
after not getting any support from retailers, manufacturers etc. at all,
i managed to install the 5.1 beta on my device.
good news is: it really does fix all the audio issues in my case. yay.
bad news is: 5.1 beta is not available for the public, so non-developers will have to wait for the official 5.1 update.

System Preferences>Displays
There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen

I have tried everthing to configure Quicktime to play videos with looking like a set of flashcards. I have upgraded to all the latest versions. I unchecked the "Enable direct3d video acceleration" in the Control Paned Quicktime Preferences and have set it to safe mode (GDI only) per the FAQ. But still I get halting video from video files on my harddrive (not from internet) while the audio plays just fine. Can anyone expain this and tell me how to correct it. My PC system is more than adequate so I do not understand why this occurs. Flash Player video plays just fine and only Quicktime video is a problem. PLEASE HELP! I've paid for the whole first season of "Heroes" on iTunes and am unable to watch it!

I am getting really SICK and TIRED of forums where pleas for help are ignored and are never receive a reply. Just like the player, your support STINKS! I have an MPEG-2 file with AC3 5.1 audio which plays in QuickTime X as expected.
I have a second MacBook Pro with Compressor 4.1.1, where the audio is fine - both as current video playback of the source, and post-encode using Apple Devices HD (best quality) setting.
However in the Mac Mini Compressor there is no audio (neither in current video playback of the source, nor after encode using Apple Devices HD (best quality) setting).
Troubleshooting
- main difference between machines is the Mac Mini has Elgato software (EyeTV and Game Capture HD)
- I've checked the QuickTime components are same on both machines, except for EyeTV audio component on Mac Mini
- there are no plug-in audio components
- I've repaired permissions using Disk Utility
- I moved Compressor to trash, deleted compressor plist files, and reinstalled

Did 4.1.2 fix YOUR USB Audio problems? Not mine...

I'm curious to hear from the other folks who were having issues with 4.1.1 freezing/sluggish while using USB speakers or USB audio converters. I have a Xitel USB-to-SPDIF converter that has worked flawlessly since 10.3 in EVERY app...until GB 4.1.1. I was expecting 4.1.2 to fix it for me as suggested, however there seems to be no change for me. If I select either USB Audio in GB preferences, or "System Setting" (which is always my USB Audio), GB is totally hosed. Spinning beachball, freezing, can only Force Quit. If I select Built-in Audio (internal speaker), then all is well. If I switch back to USB Audio, totally hosed again. What's unbelievable is that there isn't even a 3rd-party driver in the mix here, the Xitel uses Apple's built-in generic USB audio device support!!
Did 4.1.2 fix YOUR USB Audio woes??

I'm also having audio issues on my new late 2013 iMac via the USB headset. Audio starts playing fine and then static starts creeping into the audio until it drowns out the sound. Only way to fix is to unplug the headset and then plug it back into the USB port.
I've tested the headset on other PCs and my older iMac and the issue doesn't show up.
I've re-installed Mavericks on the iMac, without nuking my data, but that still doesn't solve the issue.
I've logged a case with Apple support and they had me run a program which gathered up a bunch of information to send to their engineering team. No updates yet so far.
Just one question for those that also have this issue. Did you restore your data from a Time Machine backup, or is this issue also happening on the Mac that's fresh out of the box?
I'm wondering if this issue could be caused by restoring data from my Time Machine, but I don't want to go through the hassle of nuking my entier hard drive and having to reinstall everything from scratch just to fix this issue.

Quicktime Movies - The audio plays but the video is completely messed up

Hi.
I have QuickTime V7.2 and my OS is XP.
All of a sudden QuickTime started playing back QuickTime movies with no video - there is just a lot of flickering green and purple - however the audio is there. Oddly, the files used to play fine. They were made on my PC as QuickTime movie files. The sound is there. (Additionally the files play ok in Realplayer.)
I've searched techy support but can't find an answer. Any ideas what is wrong?
I made the files on movie editing software called ULead, and as I said, they used to play fine.

A very similar and, I suspect, related problem. I created .mov files on my Mac, they play fine on the Mac, the audio plays but flickering video on my PC. I suspect it has something to do with the codecs used. Anyone have an idea as to how to make them compatible?
